Those people just can't comprehend that other people might not listen to the same music that they do. A world famous touring drummer probably isn't listening to the top rock songs on the radio. I always say look at the billboard charts from whatever year the song was released and look at the songs that did better, which implies it was played more, and ask yourself if you know the song. You almost definitely heard it at least once, but do you remember it? For example "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol outperformed "The Kill" on the charts and I can't even remember how the melody goes.

Back in the late 90s I was in a band in Dallas (fit in with nu-metal, groove metal, funk metal, rapcore types). We had a chance to hang with Chad after a demonstration he did at a local Guitar Center. His power on the drums is amazing and his feel is unbelievable. We had the opportunity to open for and play with some amazing musicians (Korn/Dave, Deftones/Abe, Pantera/Vin, and a few others). They were all amazing to watch, but nobody was as fun as Chad. He loves to jam, and he's really an impressive student of the art of creating music. His ear is amazing and I have no doubt this is his first time hearing this. He's totally keyed off of Jared in the song and listening for vocal cues that signal a change. He doesn't guess it perfect every time, but he adapts so quickly it looks intentional. He's a fun guy and a much better musician than he probably has gotten credit for. It's hard when you're in a band with guys like Flea and John to stand out, because it's such a talented pool of artists, but Chad is great. One thing that always gets me is how hard he hits. His kit is probably the most reinforced and stabilized (structurally) setup I've ever seen. He literally kicks so hard he backs the bass drum up if it isn't locked down. Amazing to match that kind of power with such great feel. Just a lot of fun to watch this. Probably my favorite Drumeo vid to date.

Gives me chills every time I hear it! I’d marry him in a heartbeat, wait on him hand and foot like the god he is, just so I could hear this under my roof and live, every. Single. Day. ❤

Of all these drummers with unknown songs his by far the best & craziest scary right without listening to whole song first. Took him like 30 seconds then just “ The Killed “ it. Amazing talent

Bad ass and what a well edited comp. Chad was in a total state of flow. Actually like his version better than the original. He's 62 years old and has awesome energy

You talk about great drummers I doubt very many would name Chad Smith as one. This is what we forget. Even the guys who hide in plain sight are extremely talented musicians. That's one of the reasons I love drumeo and this series.

This was an excellently put together video. Reaction videos are usually trash (maybe just a harsh way of saying not my cup of tea), however I found this to be extremely well done.

Thanks. You want a brutally honest opinion from a guy who has done several supercuts? Atleast half of reaction videos on UA-cam are trash. Worst ones are those who watches a video without any kind of emotions on their faces.

@@stevebollocks Appreciate the response and the honest take. After this video I obviously had to watch much more of your catalogue and I am pleased to say that, at least from my perspective, your videos are more than a few steps above when it comes to this type of content.

Now the world knows that Chad is a skilled drummer on par with the other legends like Peart, Bonham and Moon. Chad has been so underrated for many years and it's awesome to see, in full effect, of how amazing he really is. Along with Flea and John, they make, arguably, the best instrumental trio in rock history.

Man, I didn't know the song either, i had listened to part of it when it aired on MTV a few times, I wasn't into 30SM, so i had a fresh listening to Chad's performance without the perspective of the original song, i thought that this could very well be the original because it sounded so freaking well. Chad nailed it harder than anybody else.
