It's so true clothes were better made in the 90s. Especially I love the cotton of the t-shirts and jeans and I hope more manufacturers start making better quality clothes again.
Literally told my boyfriend the other day that I've been wearing my denim jacket since I was 12 and in 7th grade. Im 35 😅 so thats certainly proof you are so right. 😊

We were rocking thrift and old school back in the 1990's.... they were on every corner in Philly back in the day. Good for these guys, wish them well.
I used to go to thrift stores to search for vintage and unique art/print shirts that may be tacky for many. Buy t shirts for $3, I would be able to sell for $15-$40. It’s good money to be made, but it’s hard work you need to put in. I stopped doing it because of space in the house. It’s fun to do it, but it takes lots of time and space if you want to make it into a career.

True and my single room is full of clothes and most are from just collecting and not selling. But I have to start selling to make some smash and be able to find new items for myself and why I’m thinking to sell most and Judy keep like 10% and start all over with collecting. I think you also have to spend money to make money and maybe rent a storage or small warehouse to keep and sell your goods. Like an office or warehouse for you business. This way, you don’t have to have bags and containers paying all over your room and keep it also organized. I think if you have an eye for things and good at trends, you can make a business out of the talents you already have and have it make money for you. No different from someone who owns a restaurant or being a stock broker and just know what to buy and how to sell it.
Yeah, I’m gonna take on oen advice and I’m always giving others great advice and don’t take my own. I wasn’t to have a used clothing store when Buffalo Exchange was the only one on the scene in 1986 and I was a buyer trainee, meaning I trained the new staff on how and what to buy.

They represent the niche side of thrifting. It's actually not thrifting anymore per se and more collectibles of the clothing kind. Thrifting makes it sound affordable but it's high priced because of it's rarity and condition. There's been a huge boom in growth in this industry which has caused prices to increase greatly even from charity shops. Everyone is trying to get a piece of the proverbial pie 😂
i used to go to my local thrift store and get items for 3-5 dls
now they are 8-10 smh

I remember as a child some of these brands you would get bullied so bad for in school I'm glad things are changing because I have quite a few old school brands not second hand but price affordably and I can wear it without shame

I own a thrift store in my town. You be surprised of the stuff that's get donated, I get a lot of re-sellers in also, it's an interesting business

People keep saying that Goodwill is so high. Honestly some items are overpriced, however if you’re patient they will mark everything down. They always do color of the week, and some days tags of one color, everything is $1.99. Goodwill can only raise prices so much or they will lose business.
This is great but I’m concerned that if this new craze takes off then all the thrift stores will raise their prices even higher. Since people have increased in going to thrift stores even to resale goodwill & Salvation Army stores have increased their prices. Those places are the last option for people and families that can’t afford retail prices. So what then? I agree we need to stop being such a disposable society but what about people that desperately need thrift stores and low prices. It’s just a fad that I see becoming dangerous for people that are of lesser means once again. And that is not cool 😵💫
You can hit the garage sales which is the cheapest option these days. The thrift stores out in CA are often like store prices now, although at the “bins” you can buy by the pound. I have bought like nice sweaters for only 1.00 ( J.Crew, Banana Republic, Alfani, etc) at garage sales or designer sweaters on clearance at Macys for 1.-3.00.
It is already happening! Things that once used to be 3 and 5 dollars are now going for 30 and 50 dollars! Once thirtstore had sales now they don't even do that! This vintage craze, is making it to where everything used is cut throat! And it needs to stop!!
There's a big difference between vintage "Designer" goods and used Walmart brand jeans and tennis shoes...
This is so true because the goodwill store prices are ridiculous 🤨. Just go to goodwill online and look at some of the prices, smh
That is a first world problem at the bottom of the first world problems list. People will be fine. There’s no homeless people who have to find name brand items at rock bottom prices. Resellers are making money to feed their families. And people “of lesser means” can find the clothes just as easy as any reseller who makes just as much as them. There’s no shortage of name brand items for under $1 at the goodwill outlets or garage sells. Life ain’t that bad.

I have a old Miami Dolphins Dan Marino Jersey and a Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt and a old Grateful Dead t-shirt I guess they're all worth a bunch of money wish somebody give me $6,000 I'd sell them all three

Bad thing is that newspapers are not having many ads for yard sales and you have to depend on Facebook to find the yard sales. I find FB a cesspool.
The only thing that bothers me is the lack of appreciation for the old clothes . I’m not saying some of y’all aren’t fashion history enthusiasts, but it’s just turning into any other over saturated trend , where certain vintage things are cool others are not and no one is asking the right questions about the next phase. When I talk to these young kids they’re buying these things for the same reasons as the other trends.. big print rap/band tees will become over saturated, and the same people will hate it soon and make fun of anyone still wearing them .
My point is , they’re not buying it cus they loooove Sade or loooove NWA, they’re buying it because it’s ubiquitously acceptable .

I'm a t-shirt collector, but I usually buy two when I find ones I like, one to wear, one to stash. I'm not a fan of used clothing.
for those of you born in the 90, dont you feel like youre living 2 decades twice to fast? it s like things didnt change but they did. music fashion fads and the like suddenly came back. i kind of dont feel the nostalgia but like, time kinda never moved. idk how to explain it.... i could see if stuff from 70s came back but literally 90-early 2000 reapeard in 2017 ish...idk...

The only thing I hate about this trend is the possibility that some may be taking from the poor....and unintentionally cause a spike in prices. Places like Goodwill are a company after all. I've been going to this huge thrift store for years populated by obviously less-than middle class citizens. Out of nowhere, you're seeing these younger caucasian kids that look completely out of place and purposely dressing down. I wish these people would stick to their overpriced vintage shops found in their local urban cities, and not out in the suburbs. You can pay 60 for an ugly Harly Davidson shirt if you wish.
I’ve seen it completely change the pricing in thrift stores where I live over time . I’m actually broke and I tried to buy a crewneck at goodwill yesterday , it was $18 .
I especially saw it happen in San Francisco about 12 years ago , where I think we had a lot of really diverse and eclectic vintage, and people would drive in to sell it online . Stores hiked up their prices because people were coming in droves and buying van fulls of clothes
