well with Virtual Desktop and a quest 3/pro you can emulate Vive trackers and from what i've seen it does a pretty decent job of it.

Ahh Ive been waiting for a full review for this trackers since they've been released! I have been hesitate on getting them because I wasn't sure if they'd work for Quest 2 but this video really goes in depth about the mixed setup! Thank you Gingas!!
very good review, i was extremely on the fence about any fbt solutions and these honestly sound really good for trackers that dont use lighthouses and affordable aswell

@@Lyricaldeamin Vive Ultimate Trackers don't need Base stations, but I do recommend getting some lights to brighten your room if it's too dark.
After months of mediocre experience with slimeVR
I use discounts for get vive ultimate(+strap) and Elite XR for the price of the headset, people whine about details on this product but VR +perfect FBT under 1500bucks without material on walls is unbeatable.
They are absolutely on my list of things I’m eventually going to get. They would definitely make VRChat and Skyrim much more enjoyable.
Just gonna take a minute to save up.
Been waiting for this! Figures Vive would be the ones to solve this.

Great video. Love your content. I have a question. Do you know if the dongle transmits over wireless to the trackers or Bluetooth? I'd like to know how far from the PC I can be to use them for PC VR.
Good question… I think it’s over Bluetooth? I have my setup in my living room so I didn’t test how far you can be, but it’ll probably be fine as long as you’re semi near your pc

Its 2.4ghz. Bluetooth would be fatal for a piece of tech like that, latency would be too high. Also its in their website described.
@@kwlook90 2 walls might be an issue even for 2.4ghz, latency will be noticeable for sure.

Is it compatible with the pico 4 headset in PCVR with the steam vr application?
I have 3.0s, but interference is so extreme I have to have then plugged in directly to my PC. do you think ultimates have less interference?
If I already have 3.0 trackers but have a quest do you recommend them still? I was thinking about getting them for occlusion reasons. With my setup I like never have to calibrate with space calibrator it just saves every time. But I tend to crawl around sometimes or lay down in places where my vive trackers loose tracking once in a while which annoys me. So I’m really just not even sure
Ultimates gets occlusions the same way 3.0 are. Only the on ultimates the cameras freak out if you are too close to an object instead of lasers getting blocked. Its not an upgrade for you.
You better of getting another 3.0 and using "dual hip tracking" by hai.
@GingasVR What did you use to setup the 9 Point tracking (Ultimate and 3.0) combined to make them work together? Was there additional software required?
No it just worked natively with steamvr, no other software except for the vive streaming hub to get the ultimates to connect

if vive trackers are too expensive I recommend looking at slimevr, it's a lot cheaper and still good

Im returning mine and getting the 3.0s, my experience with these has been horrible, sitting down or lying would make me lose tracking and not recover even when cameras were not occludes, frequently I would need to re-pair. I know its im beta for pc, but the price left a sour taste in my mouth, so I would rather go with something a bit more battle tested. Btw I tried different rooms and rescanning several times. Your milage may vary.
Do the vive elite trackers come with straps?
Have you tested foot rotation with the 3.0 trackers? I admit that i'm getting a little tired of my Slime trackers' drifting issues and looking for an upgrade. Is the battery life as advertised? How's charging and playing at the same time?
Are the slimes so bad woth drifting? I am unsure which ones to buy but vive is reaaaaally expensive

still to expencive for m to test out. since doing slimes 12 trackers now (8 vive) and I can only do 5 of these since Pico 4 headset. And once gotten used to put on 12 trackers (it does not get old here) every night for vrchat dancing, I can't go down on body parts... But thanks for sharing.

Yeah you can do that, there’s a lot of apps that let you turn trackers into pseudo mocap

I tried them and prefer the 3.0 trackers, didn't really see much difference maybe if the ultimate trackers were out of beta for third party pcvr headsets or an upgraded version I would probably wait for the next version.
So if I am using a Quest 2/3 with SteamLink, what else is needed to get this working? How is the Steam coordinate system aligned with the Oculus coordinate system if Open Space Calibrator is not used?

And no, I didn’t need to re calibrate the playspace or trackers unless I switched to a different headset and controllers. I could just continually use the quest with them over and over

The native vive streaming hub, it’s not third party, it just works natively with every headset on pcvr

The reason the ultimates don't drift is because they are not gyroscope only tracking. They have cameras, and therefore can do 9dof tracking :) (like the quest)
What's the range on the dongle like for PCVR use? I like doing PCVR wirelessly from another room upstairs, basically right on top of my computer and router. The headset itself handles it just fine

I'd like to see you demo using them for VR locomotion. Do they work better than the KAT VR loco S?

NaLo with vive trackers is better than Loco S. It lets you jump, sprint, and go backwards without using an awkward foot gesture. You can even go sideways by tilting your head if you enable it. Nalo movement is more fluid as it works from both amplitude (how high you lift your foot) and frequency. Loco S only works off frequency, in my opinion feels more like a square wave than a sine wave.
Did you test these while laying down or under covers?
They don’t track under covers but it should track fine laying down
how functional are Vive Ultimate trackers for non-vr applications, like motion tracking a camera for 3D compositing?
Just as functional as vive 3.0 trackers were, you can use them for rudimentary mocap or w/e, I’ve done it before
I've had friends with lots of problems with these on pc vr, to the point where I cant believe its just a user error.
Do they support "continous space calibration" yet?
Like currently I have one Tundra Tracker attached to my Quest3 for continous space calibration. Is this still possible with these?
You don’t have to, it’s automatically calibrated, it connects to the dongle
Please explain "continuous space calibration". How are you using it with your Quest 3? I have tundra trackers for my lighthouse tracked hmd, and recently got a Quest 3. Wondering how that works when it's inside out tracking. Bypassing inside out tracking in PCVR mode? Curious.

@@gingasvr I don't think we're talking about the same thing. As you mentioned in the video you have to calibrate the play space by aligning controller and tracker.
With continous space calibration you don't have to do that at all.
@@RabbitConfirmedyou do it once and then it works all the time with no extra software. Unless it’s changed you have to calibrate the 3.0 trackers EVERY time with open space calibrator if you’re running 3.0s with a quest. And the continuous space calibration doesn’t fix all the problems
Ultimates are significantly easier unless you’re using an index or native steamvr headset, at least from my experience.. because you just run the setup ONE time and you’re good to go.. forever, unless you move or your play space changes

That did not work, the cameras need lighting and seeing the room, but the fidelity was way better than slime for everything except under covers
Unfortunately, the lack of standalone Quest 3 support/ pricetag is gonna make this a no-go for me. This seems like it will become the new standard for PCVR only users though!

You need PCVR if you’re using these with a quest. They work on standalone but only with the Vive xr elite headset
And no nothing works natively on Quest standalone with fbt right now. Everything would need a PC

you dont need basestations with these. thats the whole point of it, dongle should come with the set and if I remember correctly 1 dongle supports up to 5 trackers

The "Dont have to deal with open space calibrator" makes no sense. Vive setup is just a copy of open space calibrator and needs to recalibrate exactly as often as open space calibrator needs. Theres no magic with vive ultimates that makes them mix better with quest playspace at all.
You don’t need to recalibrate it every time you turn it on, or attach a tracker to your headset… so it is better for the quest. Unless you’re using a steamvr headset

@@luisbarragan6495🤦♀️ these have the same accuracy as 3.0 vive trackers. If you took the time to actually watch the video you’d realize that gyroscope (e.g mocappi, slime etc) does not come close to the fidelity of 3.0 or the ultimate trackers.
To get a 3.0 setup you’d need to spend close to 1k. For these it’s 600 and it’s basically the same fidelity. It’s very reasonable.
