My wife and I had never watched Alone before. Having met you a while back in Invermere, made me want to watch the show and we enjoyed every episode. In case you don't know, we own Ozzie's Amusements in Windermere. We employ many kids. Some have had you as a teacher and they all speak highly of you. Alan, you are an inspiration to so many and it's nice that you could continue that on the world stage. I hope I see you around town.

This was an absolute gem of a season. We may be a bit biased though. Loved that two Canadians made it to the end. So many great moments this episode. One shout out that we need to give is to Lisa Tenta!!🎉 That, in our opinion, was by far one of the best/heartfelt endings ever on Alone. We loved how they showed the emotions and joy when you two were reunited. We also loved how they included you showing her your shelter, how she was able to ask you questions, and the helicopter ride together. Awesome end to the journey together!❤
    We love you guys!
    Peace 🐭

Doritos owes you a check, sir. Can't buy that kind of quality marketing!
In all seriousness, congratulations. This show has brought my father and I closer, as we both watch it and talk to each other afterwards, gives us great conversation kindling.
Love your positive mindset. The kids you teach are lucky they got access to a legend.

Congratulations! Been rooting for you! All of you contestants are so tough and accomplished, but you and Wyatt really had it down out there! I appreciate your recaps and the additional insights! Lets me explore a world and experiences I never would otherwise. Good job! All best wishes from down here in Illinois.

Hi Alan, found my way here from reddit. Cool channel and huge congrats on the win! That last episode was epic! Thanks for taking us on your journey of survival and self discovery! Like you said about you and Wyatt knowing how to fish was also my feelings. You guys gotta do some kind of canadian collab in the future! That would be awesome. You and Wyatt were my faves from day 1, not surprised you both lasted til the end! Congrats again!

Taking a break from all the smoke in Kelowna to post. Alan, it was between you and Wyatt from the start for me and in the end I was really torn with who I hoped would win. When I thought it was Wyatt at one point, I felt bad for you and then the same would happen when things switched. I've watched every season of the show and am always sad when they come to a close and this was one of my favourites. The show is so much more about being human, than surviving alone. It shows us all how raw we are at the core and strips the facade away. Thank you for being vulnerable and real with the camera and sharing a bit of who you are. You are very entertaining and deserving of this win.

Just finished watching with my family. So many valuable lessons in this show. Thanks for you realistic and positive approach. Going through your videos now. Looking forward to any videos with Wyatt. I thought for sure he had a few more days! Soon as he showed the shot of the sunrise I was yelling “nooooo cut wood stay!!” But you really crushed it and listening to your post videos it seems they held back a lot of your success to increase drama. Not a complaint. That’s why I love the post stuff. I bought the season on apple so after last episode there’s nothing. Good luck in your post alone career!

Awesome video! I’m from Sask and have been travelling to Reindeer Lake every year for the last 10 years. I camp out on the islands for up to 2 weeks at a time.
I actually recognized a few spots where some of the finalists were camping and have been there myself. Everyone had great tactics on surviving on their own islands.
Great job surviving yourself, Al! I couldn’t be there in winter.
Would love to see a tutorial video on building a shelter.

Excellent recap. I actually finished this last night on netflix. I thought that Wyatt would win because it just seemed like he had the most luck catching fish. You were right there with him but I think the wind especially affected Wyatts mentality. We get crazy winds in Colorado and it's annoying in a comfortable home never mind trying to survive outside. Alan really had a tough mentality because he didn't catch as much food as you and Wyatt. It seems that people who enter this contest have prepared for the physical part for most of their lives but the mental part seems to be the deciding factor in most seasons I have seen. Once again congratulations!!!

Well done Mr. Tenta, well done. I'm on record as picking you before the contest began even though as the contest progressed I was thinking Wyatt had it in the bag. Those were really big fish he caught so calories were not so much a factor. But it's a complicated contest. Can't make too many mistakes. Anyway, I picked you because of your attitude-- you struggled like everyone else but always managed to let positivity tilt in your favor, keeping true to the survival code. No small feat.

Excellent work Alan - I backed you from the beginning for your clear toughness and mental game which is always needed on Alone. Very impressed, well done. Also first person to win with the tee-pee! How was the smoke inside your shelter, was that a battle or no?

I'm glad you won because it was getting really tough knowing that the competition was over and decided by thebtime we watched it. So it felt awkward to say I hope you win when you already had and had to keep your mouth shut!
I'm really glad you won! It was awesome rooting for someone I knew from Fruitvale😊
I also think it's awesome that you teach the outdoors classes and now your students will know that you really do know how to survive and you've proved it on T.V. 😁 The first 11 classes of each year, you can just show them the episides of Alone, lol 😂

I was curious how much wood you were burning compared to Wyatt. He was shown processing a large tree every day. You were shown gathering some easily carried fallen branches. Was your home (away from home) that much easier to heat?

    • @alantenta9825
      @alantenta9825  6 місяців тому +1

Good question. I don’t think it was easier to heat, I had less fires. My teepee style shelter with an open fire pit had to have a hot, crackling fire to create enough heat to draft the smoke out the top. As a result, it did not allow me keep a fire going while I slept because as it burned down, the smoke would not carry up the top without constant feeding. The black spruce we had burned extremely quickly, not like a hardwood. I would only light a fire in my shelter to make tea, cook my fish, and heat the rocks I would place in my sleeping bag before going to bed. Those branches they showed me gathering were just for tinder to start my fire. I bucked up trees to burn as well.

I laughed so hard at the Doritos comment. Just showed that even with everything you’d been through by that point, mentally you weren’t down and out yet. There was still a little gas in the tank if you were cracking jokes.
It was so sweet to see you and your wife reconnect. It always brings tears to my eyes.
I think being able to share the space you created for yourself, where you lived and survived for so long with your loved one probably gives a satisfying sense of closure to the winner that I wish everyone on the show got to experience.
Congrats again on the win, and all the best to you and your family in the future.
