Obsolete and Genexus are my fav Fear Factory Albums followed by the old school Soul of a New Machine. Mad respect for ALL Fear Factory albums but I like those the most. VERY interested to check out the newest album. The first single Disruptor was good, the second single Fuel Injected Suicide Machine I wasnt into. So im interested to see how the album as a whole sounds.
Mechanize and Demanufacturer side by side. Digimortal and Transgression are the worst, but far from bad albums according to me.
@@kirilbiseroski5253 They both have their moments
Mechanize!
Obsolete hands down
Demanufacture is still REALLY heavy stuff. I dare someone to not Headbang at least once throughout the Whole album especially Self Bias Resistor, Pisschrist.
🤘🏻
Pisschrist, my god. The latter part of that song is effin' brutal, best song on DM.
Body hammer is the ultimate head bopper in the album for me. Mid tempo crusher
W pfp
Therapy of pain is still a great song 🤟🎸
Mechanize is S tier for me all the way. An absolute beast of an album, from start to finish. The new one, Aggression Continuum, is really damn good too.
S: Mechanize, Demanufacture
A: Aggression Continuum
B: Obsolete, Genexus, Digimortal
C: Archetype, Soul of a New Machine
D: The Industrialist, Transgression
Architype has to be A or S
S
I’m new to fear factory in general but I personally love demanufacture and soul of a new machine
Definitely check out Mechanize and the new one
SOANM is where I started, Demanufacture made them a favourite band. Both brilliant albums.
@@MetalTrenches for sure!
@@MetalTrenches I’m generally into the Godflesh and early swans style of industrial stuff, so what bands would you recommend for that sludgier style?
@@tpags7398 Fange?
I really like Genexus, I listen to it pretty regularly. Obsolete when it came out It was on full rotation, love that album.
Pretty good job! Mine:
S - Demanufacture, Mechanize
A - Obsolete, Genexus
B - Industrialist, Archetype
C - Digimortal, Soul of a new machine
D - Transgression
Can't wait to listen to more of AC!
This but I would swap Mechanize and Genexus personally
1. Demanufacture
2. Mechanize
3. Obsolete
Yep, clearly the standout 3 for mine as well. Been getting into SOANM recently again.
S. Obsolete
A. Archetype, Demanufacture
B. Genexus
C. Mechanize/Digimortal/S.O.A.N.M
D. The Industralist
F. Transgression
Archetype is one of my favorites with a really nasty snare sound. Wish it was more available on streaming
If you want Symphonic Fear Factory, than the band you're after is Mechina. They even did a cover of Zero Signal that can easily rival the original.
Archetype should be ranked higher. I would say it's my 4th favorite Fear Factory album. My top 4 would be
1. Demanufacture
2. Obsolete
3. Mechanize
4. Archetype
Zero Signal was my intro to them when i saw the og mortal kombat. Been a huge fan ever since. Def could agree with this list man.
Followed you a long time, so glad you ranked this! Your the best!!
My Ranking:
S-Tier:
Obsolete
Demanufacture
Archetype
Aggression Continuum
Genexus
A:
Mechanize (a great record that I initially had in S-Tier, but I bumped it down to A after lending some thought to the fact it feels more like a Divine Heresy record in FF packaging than an FF record to me).
The Industrialist
B:
Digimortal
C:
Soul Of A New Machine
D:
Transgression
You give them even higher marks overall than I did. I’m not as sold on Genexus yet, but Expiration Date is one of my favorite FF songs
@@EM-zo1dy
Yeah, that's a great song! I also count Autonomous Combat System, Anodized, Dielectric and Regenerate among my faves.
Everything is 110% on this record , Burt sounds more old school, surprising bad ass grooves and breakdowns sprinkled here and there . The different synth artists that guessed on this is fantastic. Also for a first time i'm noticing the accents of the cymbals specially those rides at some points they are just sooo juicy. This is becoming my all time favorite , it's surprisingly THAT good IMO.
The synth artists were guests? Didn't even know that. Yeah they did a KILLER job
@@MetalTrenches Yep, 5 total as per Dino . I think this is most probably why the album is more flavorful than usual
@@sofukingwhat Did they get named?
@@MetalTrenches Sorry its 5 actually , but here's your answer at 8:52 ua-cam.com/video/9rNFESLpur4/v-deo.html
@@MetalTrenches Kinda makes me chuckle that they got the keyboardist from Yes on that one. His parts work really well though!
'90's aggressive industrial metal, like the first two FF and SYL albums has such a unique vibe. I love it so much I've spent my entire hobby music career trying and failing to make my version of it.
Solid ranking, here's mine.
S = demanufacture, mechanize
A = SOANM, Obsolete, Genexus,
B = Fear Continuum, Digimortal,
C = Industrialist, archetype
D = Transgression
as a big fear factory fan i think transgression is very underrated
The problem with Transgression is that the production/mixing/sound engineering is off. Doesn't really sound like a FF record. Burton clearly wanted to write some more mainstream type songs too.
@@mikespearwood3914 dont care
what is your opinion of their remanufacture album?
Solid for a remix album
Fantastic job brother! I have to get at this one as well already did Deftones and NIN
Thanks for this, definitely will check out this band, great video
🤘🏻
Demanufacture has got to be my number1, but I enjoy all Fear Factory to varying degrees, only Transgression I'd consider a sub par album really, but even that had a couple of songs I liked
It's the OG
S: Obsolete, Demanufacture
A: Aggression Continuum, the Industrialist, Mechanize
B: Genexus, Archetype
C: Soul of a New Machine, Digimortal (just barely because a few songs are amazing)
D: Transgression
S: Demanufacture, Mechanize
A: Aggression Continuum
B: Obsolete, Archetype, The Industrialist
C: Genexus, Soul of a new Machine
D: Digimortal, Transgression
Fear Factory fan since I first heard them on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack way back in 95.
1. Demanufacture
2. Obsolete
3. Mechanize
4. Aggression (this may move up over Mechanize in a few months. I’m really surprised how much I like it.)
5. Digimortal (I know some of it is very 2001 but that is kind of part of its charm..and since nostalgia runs in 20 year cycles it may be kind of cool again.)
6. Soul of A New Machine (Agreed it’s not what I got into Fear Factory for..but I have it this high because it was pretty revolutionary in 1992..while it is common place now…NO ONE did death metal with clean choruses in between then)
7. Archetype
8. Genexus (Too predictable)
9. The Industrialist (too predictable)
10. Transgression (half-ass)
Got a comment for Archetype?
Soul of a new machine should def be b tier or higher just based on how unique it was at the time it released. Really, no bands sounded like that at the time. It's super heavy. It's almost criminal having Digimortal higher than SoaNM. Solid list otherwise.
I agree
🤷🏻♂️ fair argument, just personal taste
Also sound mix with industrial metal and death metal so like industrial death metalish I say
it's okay, the zoomer wasn't around back then and had no clue
Great list...thoughts on GZR????
Fair rankings. I have some weird favorites, but I also give the discography better marks overall, with notable exception.
S: Aggression Continuum, Archetype
A: Demanufacture, Obsolete, Digimortal, Mechanize
B: Industrialist, Genexus
C: (None)
D: Soul, Transgression
Interesting that you and a couple of others don't have Demanufacture at S tier!
@@mikespearwood3914 Burton’s vocals weren’t quite there yet
My top 5
1)Obsolete
2)Demanufacture
3)Aggression Continuum (Yes its that good)
4)Mechanize.
5)Genexus
Obsolete would be S tier for me it tells the story the best and is their most emotional.
Pretty spot on list. I also quite enjoyed Digimortal and it's when I got into Fear Factory. Demanufacture and Obsolete are classics and everything since Dino's return as been solid.
My top 5
1. MEECHHAAANIIIIZE!!1! Industrial metal perfection x100
2. Demanufacture
3. Obsolete.
4. Genexis
5. Digimortal(dated sound yes but nostalgia and so many fun hooks)
Aggression Continuum has the potential to maybe bump into 5th.
One of my top favorite industrial metal bands. What about concrete? Why wasn't that included? Or did I not hear you mention it That has some good tracks.
Fear Factory!! Love them, new album is awesome \m/
Great Tier ranking! Only change I'd make Is Archetype into B Tier love that album got me back into Fear Factory
S. Archetype, Obsolete
A. Demanufacture, Transgression, Mechanize
B. S.O.A.N.M, Genexus
C. Digimortal
D. Aggression Continuum
F. The Industralist
Great review enjoyed it, although I thoughtfully enjoyed the Hatefiles album, which I used to listen to no end 🤟🎸
Aggressiom Continuum, Genexus and THE INDUSTRIALIST above Archetype is WILD
I stand by it
Replica absolutely blew my mind the first time I heard it as a kid. And opened up the world of metal for me.
I was ready to explode when you rated Archetype so low so I just went and relistened to it to make sure I wasn’t dreaming and damnit, you’re right. It starts so strong and then gets lost and discombobulated the rest of the way. When that album came out I thought it was their best. Now almost 20 years later I’m more disappointed in it than pleased. Thanks for the video.
I appreciate that you took the time to check for bias. I get surprised like that all the time
I remember getting Soul of a new machine around 1994, wasn't my totally jam and kinda turned me off till obsolete, then went and grabbed demanufacture, so I kinda put those into a group of albums I listened to mostly. Till the last couple albums
I think it all depends on how and what you like fear factory for if you like it for just super shred power your gonna like mechanize but if you like more the big vocals and crazy outros you going to like different albums especially the industrialist or obsolete but for catchiness there is more digimortal or genexus
Hell ya Fear factory Obsolete is still my all time favorite and love Dinos guitar style
Very reasonable ranking :).
I'd actually put Mechanize at the top, with Demanufacture coming in 2nd. That was one hell of a comeback that they haven't been able to reach since.
1. Mechanize
2. Demanufacture
3. Obsolete
4. Genexus
5. Digimortal
6. The Industrialist
7. Soul of a New Machine
8. Archetype
9. Transgression
It’s great but hard to say better than such a classic. Either way deserves a high spot
@@MetalTrenches Totally agree. Both Demanufacture and Mechanize are both great albums. :)
Agree with you on Mechanize. That is a beast of an album.
1:12 didn't expect a Living Sacrifice mention
S - Remanufacture
A - Obsolete, SOANM
B - Digimortal
C -
D - (everything else)
Remanufacture or Demanufacture?
Personally
S: Mechanize, Demanufacture
A: Aggression Continuum, Obsolete, Genexus
B: Archetype, Digimortal
C: The Industrialist, Soul of A New Machine
D: Transgression
S: Demanufacture, Genexus.
A: Monolith, Obsolete, Mechanize
B: The Industrialist, Digimortal, Soul of a New Machine.
C: Archetype, Transgression.
I agree with your list except Archetype deserves to be in A tier imo, that record is way better than ppl give it credit for. I totally disagree that it lacks heart, these guys set out to prove they could make a good record without Dino and give a big middle finger to the shit talkers online, I feel they delivered.
Awww damn! Genexus and The Industrialist deserve to be rated a little higher:/ especially Genexus..... that whole album was killer to me!
All subjective 🤷🏻♂️
Genexus is awesome. Personally because I love FFs more melodic vibes. Enhanced Reality is beautiful. A truly spiritual song.
Soul of a new machine should be B Tier But yeah that album just dragged far longer then it shouldve
Good list. Only thing I really disagree with is Archetype ranking so low. I'd switch places with Archetype and Digimortal.
i you get rid of echo, supernova & i will follow, throw on the b-sides and finish recording the album, transgression would be at least b tier.
i really do love the rest of the album and feel like if someone wanted to fix it, it wouldn't get shit on so much. unfortunately we have the "half finished" shat out record that was released.
cool cover art though 👍
Obsolete is the best in my opinion. I bought it from Kmart when I was like 13 back in the day 😂
S Demanufacute, Mechanize, Genexus
A Obsolete, Aggression Continuum,The Industrialist,
B Digimortal, Archetype
C Soul of A New Machine
D Transgression
S Soul of a New Machine, Concrete, Demanufacture, Obsolete
A Agression Continuum, Digimortal
B Genexus, Archetype
C Mechanize (better live. Not a fan of the production. Might need more listens though)
D Transgression
Haven’t heard the industrialist
I actually really like Digimortal. I don't understand why people shit on it so much. Linchpin is such a catchy song. Def. a B ranking for me.
I wonder why remanufacture isn't on the lists, you're my second person I'm looking at ff list nut n9 9ne has remanufature (cloning technology) which is demanufactures kind Electronica remake kinda.. it's my favorite and such a legendary album itself
I agree with you and at least one other person in the comments: I think Mechanize is better than Obsolete. I guess my ranking from top to bottom is:
1. Demanufacture
2. Mechanize
3. Obsolete
... I cant figure out the rest yet but I would agree with Transgression beibg at the very bottom. Also, I do like Archetype more than Digimortal or the Industrialist.
I am starting to agree with that argument
@@MetalTrenches which one? Mechanize being greater than Obsolete or Archetype being better than the other two?
@@joshalan5125 Mechanize
@@MetalTrenches IMO, Mechanize is a super underrated album. I waa listening to it last week and thought "This album really is killer!" Its easily the best they've done post their first break up.
@@joshalan5125 Yeah definitely a later gem
Archetype is much better and versatile than Genexus and The Industrialist
36 crazyfists tier list please
I love them all.
S: Mechanize, Obsolete
A: Archetype, Demanufacture
B: The Industrialist, Genexus
C: Transgression
D: Digimortal, Soul of a New Machine, Concrete
Haven't heard the new album yet.
Archetype is my favorite album by them, love every track on it, production, Burton vocal work, Slave Labor is one of my favorite industrial metal songs ever. And after that what a letdown, Transgression really sucks, from newer albums Mechanize is really good reminds me on Demanafacture times. My first 3: 1)Archetype 2)Obsolete 3) Demanafacture.
For some reason, I really like Digimortal it might be better than obsolete for me
Disagree with The Industrialist and Genexus both of which are A tier for mine
I would have added Concrete to this and I'd put it above Soul of A New Machine.
it's SILLY putting Soul of a new machine (a classic) in C, you're missing CONCRETE, their ACTUAL 1st album, but, due to 1 of many lawsuits, it was shelved until 2002. Fear Factory kept some songs/re-wrote and gave us Soul of a new machine. so the TOP, Soul, Demanufacture (T2, inspired by T2, it has soundclips from it, zero signal samples the girl's laughter at the park from T2, but the score when The T800 arrives outside the bar) Obsolete, Digimortal (under-rated) Archetype. low- TRANSGRESSION. Mid-Industrialist. Archetype lacks heart!? C, gee. Genexus, TOP, aggression continuum-C. A-Mechanize. Archetype IS a concept album, it;s about a chosen drone (a slave) working for a Godlike figure who controls the hive, and the Archetype rebels, all drones are punished due to the Archetype's judgement. The drones are cloned, and each rebel (is a disease to the God, who cleanses the hive to remove the infection, whilst spreading his lies) so the Archetype must break free, fight back, and in the end, goes to the school to become the NEW god, it's a cycle.
Rank Static-X Albums next
Maybe when the new one drops
@@MetalTrenches OK👍
I know there were some Dino riffs in archetype, but I always enjoyed Christian’s writing in fear factory over Dino’s.
So Archetype would be S tier for me and transgression being B...yes, the production isn’t very full and lacking in some regard.
Why didn’t you like echo of my scream? I thinks it’s a great chillbanger tune haha
Just thought it was lame 🤷🏻♂️
Dino's riffs? Wolbers copied Dino's style & chord progression for that album & we all know what happened when he went off on his own after that! Are you Australian?
Obsolete definitely S
i love demanufacture
I didn't see concrete on this list.
Arlington heights? So you here in Chicagoland duuuuuuude?
Not anymore
@@MetalTrenches ahh bummer, was ready to spot you at a show, thanks for your work! I'm 50 and I saw factory at ozzfest second stage and earlier slipknot played second stage and was new, and had the "columbine" kids ready and fear factory delivered. Edgecrusher smashed some heads literally I saw some beatdowns. This was 98 I believe and again, slipknot being new to everyone set the stage for fear factory to be legendary. It's was a thousand degrees that day and I loved every minute
5:49 haha
lol caught it
For me it's:
1. Demanufacture (one of the best albums ever made, regardless of genre or time period)
2. Soul of a New Machine (one of my favourite death/undustrial records period)
3. Obsolete (pretty solid, has some of the best songs they've ever made)
4. The rest of their discography (I just don't like it)
I kind of hate Digimortal. Mostly boring imo.
How is archetype so low in the industrialist so high. But he'll it's not my list. I would have watched this day one. But your thumbnail made it look like it's geared to memers
Unfortunately that’s how you get the clicks these days. Whatever works 🤷🏻♂️
My ranks:
1. Demanufacture
2. Mechanize
3. Obsolete (thought most people put this at 2)
4. Soul of a New Machine (my BIG disagreement with you here)
5. Genexus
6. Archetype
--------------albums that are not good---------
7. Industrialist
8. Transgression
9. Digimortal (I hated this so bad back in the day as I thought it was a massive sellout record... Won't even listen to it.. Might not even be that bad!)
If the new disc is better than Genexus that would be fantastic honestly.
I liked fear factory for years but the 2005 era fear factory is by far the weakest.
Industrialist is C or D. Record had nothing memorable. Mechanize should be in "S".
Only ff album that suck transgression
hahaha "not the worst that i heard" :p
Pfft. Imagine "Anodized" being skippable. And I'd agree with another commenter that Archetype should be higher because let's be honest. "Slave Labor" alone slaps. I think it would be higher than The Industrialist. Just for the fact that the drums sound like shit.
There's a new version of the industrialist with live drums.
You IMMEDIATELY lost me when you put Archetype on C. That is the BEST Fear Factory album for me and it definitely is one of their best albums
If you only appreciate opinions that 100% match your own, you’ve missed the entire point of social interaction.
@@MetalTrenches Though that may not be my case, I simply have my limits.
17 tracks... Still not enough
I know I'm in the minority but I think aggression continuum is very repetitive and predictable and the second half of the album is so much weaker
I thought so too at first till I put on a good pair of headphones then it blew me away.
Obsolete not as good? It's OK to be wrong
Disappointing lack of Concrete...
Your clueless soul of a new machine is amazing.
One day, little dude, you will learn how opinions work, and that not everyone shares yours. It’s scary, I know, but you’ll be out of those diapers and making friends in no time. Metal exists because it is NOT the status quo.
Dog day sunrise not sunshine poser!
