2)still life

Usman Sheikh man, Watershed is really good. I say you listen to it again.
There seems to be a divide between fans of the early death metal and the later prog rock style. I like both. Orchid and sorceress very underated
"If you enjoy listening to Opeth then you are an Opeth fan"
Very, very true!
kalkwiese this is something most people should recognize with any band.
Disagreed.
I must concur
Deep
What if i love listening to opeth, but i only really like 20 songs or so. Considering they have like 120 songs, am i still a fan if i love only 1/6 of what they have released?
For me:
1. Ghost Reveries
1. Blackwater Park
1. My Arms, Your Hearse
1. Deliverance
1. Still Life
1. Orchid
1. Watershed
1. Morningrise
1. Damnation
1. Sorceress
1. Heritage
1. Pale Communion
jajajajajajajajajajajajajaaja
You're absolutely out of your gourd if you think Heritage is on par with Blackwater Park.
Oh boy, the fanboyism...
@@NumberSpace Heritage is fantastic but it's a completely different of style than Blackwater Park. It's like comparing apples to oranges even from the same band.
How the fuck Pale Communion it's the worst, go listen some Soon above sun Below,
Opeth is one of the greatest modern bands if Pink Floyd and Death had a baby Opeth would be the child.
WHAT??
Pink Floyd, sure - especially since Watershed.
But Chuck could write great, MEMORABLE riffs in his sleep, and compose solos. Åkerfeldt however...
Which Opeth songs with great riffs, would you recommend for someone who has a hard time getting the hype from Opeth's fanbase?
I like songs such as Ghost of Perdition, Demon's of the Fall, Drapery Falls, Wreath, Grand Conjuration and Bleak (until Steven Wilson starts singing). Yet, most of Opeth's songs seem so dragged out to me, and I really don't find many riffs to be memorable.. but I would love to be persuaded, so please send some recommendations my way!
MetalForTheMasses if you are a riff guy id listen to Sorceress and Heritage they are both great albums
MetalForTheMasses Try the baying of the hounds, Sorceress, The Wilde Flowers, Chrysalis, Eternal Rains Will Come, Moon Above Sun Below, Strange Brew and Heir Apparent. All good songs with some great riffs, particularly chrysalis and heir apparent. Keep in mind that most of Opeth's music is almost a waiting game, because there's a lot of musical context required to fully appreciate their music. Some people don't like the material on Sorceress (or anything post-watershed) but if you think about their most recent three albums in a jazzier context I think you'll enjoy it.
try Forest of October. i think its prolly their catchies song after DotF
"Opeth's songs seem so dragged out to me, and I really don't find many riffs to be memorable"
It seems to me that you have a short musical attention span.(no offence intended) Most of Opeth's song structures are not short riffs which is more radio friendly. Their latest works might be more to your liking than their earlier stuff.
Morningrise is so underrated. Almost half of the album is acoustic, and it's immersed in a cold, melancholic mood throughout which is maybe why people can't fully appreciate it.
P.S. It's 'Black Rose Immortal', not 'Eternal'.
Yes! I was 20 when "Morningrise" was released, so It was my favorite record by Opeth for a long time. I'm starting to realize how good "Still Life" is now though.
"I love that BWAMRH!-do,do,do,do,deedle-dede,doo-do-do-BWAMRH!...BWAMRH!...MMMPH!" After this, Notes' quit UA-cam to kickstart his revolutionary death metal acapella career.
Jordan McFilmMyself clearly I've missed my true calling ;)
Watershed let's go!!
most underrated Opeth album =]
Watershed is in the top 20 of best music in human history.
Watershed 5/5.
When music and production meet. Perfection.
For me it's pale communion
That was the last album Mikeal screamed heavy on too.
Who tf underrates Watershed??
I absolutely adored Pale Communion when I listened to it and it grew on me every time I played it , i still don’t understand why people avoid it and rate it really low among opeth’s discography.
Absolutely agree with you!
It’s because when you’ve listened to a lot, and I mean a LOT of both progressive music today and back then, it just sounds like a lot of different riffs from the past. Only what people don’t realize is it’s done so so well and fits with the overall sound. I greatly enjoy this album, prob the best album in their newer sound, but at first I didn’t like it because it sounded like a lot of the older prog rock that came before. But after a few listens it definitely grew on me.
This is same for me but with heritage
Hair Drier for November is my favorite
mines Hair Apparatus
April Ethrethreal and madrequeal for me
God heeds lament!
Dryer for November? LOL?!
Erythryal, dude
And "Hair" Apparent... O.o
Boys, let’s not forget Godheed’s Lament
I saw this video when it came out and thought "How can anyone, even if they are a prog fan put "Pale Communion" on top?"
So, I come from a extreme metal background and Opeth is one of, if not my absolute favourite band. But, as many other fans I have not been the biggest fan of their more prog turn of direction. That is until "In Cauda Venenum
" came out, an album which I love! I said to myself "You have to give Heritage, Pale Communion and Sorceress another go, you have to invest time!" So, out of my love for the band I really started listening to those albums and they finally clicked for me! I can finally say that Opeth have not made a single bad album.
My Top 5
1. Ghost Reveries - a pure masterpiece in my opinion
2. Pale Communion
3. Damnation
4. Still Life
5. Blackwater Park
Morningrise, still life , black water park my favorites
I feel Heritage is criminally underrated. You have to listen to it from a less is more perspective. The sheer atmosphere provided from the silent parts really accentuates everything else. Solid riffs and singing and just all around amazing to listen to. This album is top three tier for me.
victor dragon I like it but it has been one of my least listened to and would rate it last to. Maybe I should give it more listens!
The great thing about Opeth is that when people say their favourites, I hear different people say different albums
My faves differ at any time between Damnation, Ghost Reveries and Morningrise
victor dragon i can feel you dude. Heritage is equally deep and dark for me as bwp
heritage is fucking garbage kid
I tried to like Heritage. I really did. But I just can't get into it.
I've always listened to Opeth on a song by song basis and not particularly by 'album'
Heritage IMHO is great but it is a style apart from their previous work.
(I'm sure this comparison has been done to death)
Metallica the Thrash Metal band i liked, Metallica the bubble-gum-pop-rock band i hated whilst Opeth the Prog Metal band i like and Opeth the Prog Acid Rock i also like. But then again, i also liked the non-growl/soft Opeth songs from earlier albums. But i will admit that the albums after Heritage are pretty much my least liked for me, but they do have a decent song or two on each, just they pale in comparison to the earlier Growling songs.
Love your channel, you're a really articulate and engaging reviewer of music, which is rare on UA-cam.
REALLY? Articulate haha...his only adjectives for the music are "MEATY" lol.
Adjectives are overrated. You don't need adjectives in order to be articulate. I agree with @davehall5857 on this one!
I love how everybody likes and aprecciates each album in a different way, some of us think of Blackwater Park as their best and other people have this album not even in top 5. Makes you realize how amazing this band is, even at it's lowest points.
Your enthusiasm is totally infectious.
:D
I've just started having a good listen to Ghost Reveries (my first proper encounter with Opeth) and that first track, Ghost Of Perdition, is really impressive and nothing like I would've expected. It's almost Wagnerian in those heavy growly parts and I kept imagining how they would sound with a bass opera singer. Thanks for the recommendation and also prefacing your piece on saying you came to Opeth from a 70s prog perspective as that makes sense to me as well. Ian
The idea of a "worst" Opeth album is a logical fallacy and therefore renders this video an abomination to the space time continuum. Such an insult to the physics of reality should not be allowed to exist.
agreed
ok
love this series! keep it up man
Nice list and great channel. Keep on recording! Now I'm waiting for "Camel: Worst to Best" ;D
You got the names Of half the songs wrong lol
I can see you're probably new here XD
therainman indeed haha :)
Well, better get used to it if you're going to stay :P
Haha i guess so. The video itself was great so its all good :)
I suggest you check out his 2017 census videos he released in January. You'll learn some stuff about him ;)
And yes, as always, he does great videos. This is just another one :)
Morningrise second worst ? It is actually my most favorite Opeth album..
Damn bro…😢
@@davidmarsh9386 It's alright, everyone has different taste.. And with Opeth really, all their albums are great, I just think for me Morningrise and Ghost Reveries these would be my top 2, but really all their stuff is great.. (not a fan of sorceress though.)
I started to feel the trigger but I actually agree with your list! Very nice review man, your enthusiasm is contagious!
Great video, good descriptions! Thanks
I also love Ghost Reveries, each instrument is totally clear, great grooves, oscillating between heavy and softer.
1. Ghost Reveries
2. Blackwater Park
3. My Arms, Your Hearse
4. Deliverance
5. Still Life
6. Orchid
7. Watershed
8. Morningrise
9. Damnation
10. Sorceress
11. Heritage
12. Pale Communion
Yes, Pale Communion is their weakest for me. I really like the first 3 songs though, especially Cusp of Eternity.
There's good stuff on every album for sure.
Listen to Voice of Treason flowing right into Faith In Others. That's gold right there.

Pale is my 3rd favorite
1.Still Life 2. Blackwater Park 3. Ghost Reveries. 4. Watershed 5. Morningrise 6. Deliverance 7. My arms, your hearse haven't heard the rest of Opeths discography
When I was in my teens I bought the "My Arms, your Hearse" album. I haven't opened it yet and never listened to the songs (except for tDemon of the Fall) because I don't ever want to feel that there's not another album by them for me to discover, so I am keeping it for when I turn 100 years old. I am a professional classical musician, but Opeth is my favorite music of all time. Man I love them so much, up to Ghost Reveries I don't have any favorites, I loved them all the same.
I saw them in Zurich a couple of days ago and it was great but I had that feeling you mention on your review of some of the albums, it was kind of disjointed, the growing energy of the crowd was constantly interrupted with changes of mood, great show nevertheless.
Great video, thanks!
1. Still Life
2. Morningrise
3. Damnation
4. Blackwater Park
5. Ghost Reveries

9. Watershed
10. All the albums that came after Watershed.
1st damnation
2nd three way tie with blackwater park, ghost reveries and watershed
and then the rest.
ill give them like 9.5/10
3 way tie between morning rise damnations and blackwater Park. Then the rest.
Morningrise is their masterpiece.
Love damnation so muuuch!❤️
I think it's great that you like what you like regardless of what the most popular album is. It's cool that your giving those top two more attention. I'll listen to your favorite album later today. Haven't heard it, I'm stoked.
Can you make king crimson: worst to best?
This!
The beauty about music is that it is subjective. We will all enjoy or dislike different albums depending on where we are emotionally at the time we hear them. Great vid.
I would love to see you do a BtBaM worst to best!

Great channel!! You resparked my interest in Dream Theater. Any plans in reviewing the new Kino album Radio Voltaire?
Where is this guy from? He seems like a native English speaker, but having watched a few of his videos he mispronounces about half the titles he mentions.
NimlotSRV he is dyslexic, so he reads some words incorrectly
Watershed is my favorite. I listened to them when Morningrise came out (awesome fretless bass!),but then lost interest until I watched the making of deliverance and damnation and got into them a lot after.
Heir Apparent is (imo) their best song, and I believe only song to have just death growl vocals
Fairly Secret Music blackwater park also has only growls
i thought i was the only one who liked em way aat the beginning and then jumped off for a while and came back on. I got into them because of the Candlelight Records 1997 sampler compilation and went out and bought their first two albums (it was right after Morningrise as well).
Great video! I’m really curious where you’d put In Cauda Venenum in this list?
My brain burns OMG, ey this video was made from 2018 NOT 2019!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which riff from Camel did Mikael rip off for Ending Credits ? I have been looking for it forever.
You said Dirge For November very wrong ^^, was waiting for you do see this one, fantastic video! :)
The riff from face of Melinda you played is my absolute favorite of all time... And blackwater Park is #1 lol.
#12 - Damnation (An acoustic masterpiece. I have to be in the right mood to get into it but when I am it really takes me places. I put it last just because all the songs kinda follow the same pattern and soundscape and also some album had to be last but I still adore all of their works!)
#11 - Heritage (Just like Damnation, if I'm at the right mood for this Prog materpiece then I'll fully enjoy it. Most underrated album of theirs in my opinion!)
#10 - Pale Communion (What they wanted to achieve with Heritage, they achieved it here! Just like you said, every song in here is a favourite!)
#09 - Sorceress (For me, their best work of their Prog Rock trilogy. Taking elements both from Heritage and Pale Communion and it works perfectly. Will O The Wisp showing a more Elysian Woes kind of vibe while Strange Brew is dark brilliance, kind of a Famine vibe!)
#08 - Deliverance (Their most brutal album yet so beautiful in places...Almost every riff on here is spot on awesome and the song Deliverance is just flawless!)
#07 - Blackwater Park (Starting with the first riff of The Leper Affinity and grabbing me right by the balls and ending with the final acoustic melody of Blackwater Park just leaving me wondering of what a brilliant album I've just heard, this record is definately a journey!)
#06 - My Arms, Your Hearse (For me, their first four albums had something that no other album after them was able to achieve and that is dark ambient forest atmosphere along with the lyrics of their first four records which are pure poetry and blended perfeclty with what the music wanted to say. This is just a flawless concept album from beginning to end!)
#05 - Orchid (The most dark album, I've ever heard! Combined with the fact that I listened to these records in a village in the woods, these melodies will follow me until I die...I still can't understand how a 20-year old Mikael could write and record these beautifully dark and complex pieces! From the extremely haunting acoustic melody of Under The Weeping Moon to the glorious finishing solo of The Apostle In Triumph, this a jaw-dropping debut!)
#04 - Watershed (If this is indeed their last album featuring Death Metal (which I hope not) then they certainly went out with a bang! From Coil to Burden to Hessian Peel, this album is just dark emotional and brutal brilliance!)
#03 - Ghost Reveries (I don't have much to say about this one, you described it all yourself. From Ghost Of Perdition to Isolation Years, this album flows perfectly between beauty and brutallity!)
#02 - Morningrise (For some people, Black Rose Immortal is an overrated song stating that people like it just because it's 20 minutes long. For some other people, Black Rose Immortal is Opeth's absolute masterpiece with flawless riffs and a perfect ballance between beauty and brutallity. I always go with the second side of opinions. This album is a just a beautiful journey from the beginning of Advent until the ending of To Bid You Farewell! Just like Orchid, I still can't understand how a 20-year old Mikael wrote this...)
#01 - Still Life (My all time favourite Metal album! Combining the concept with Mikael's poetry and a foresty dark ambient atmosphere, this is the perfect balance between beauty and brutallity! From the haunting start of The Moor to the melancholic melody of Benighted to the atmospheric Moonlapse Vertigo to the jazzy sound of Face Of Melinda to the brutallity of Serenity Painted Death to the ending melody of White Cluster, this record is the peak of their discography for me and probably always be!)
I love your passion

morningrise is criminally underrated....
I agree
To Bid You Farewell was the first Opeth song I heard, and Morningrise still remains one of my top 3 Opeth albums to date.
I wouldn’t say so. A lot of people say it’s their greatest work and love this album. Even Mikael had said this during the Deliverance/Damnation documentary.
@@williamreynolds3487 it's criminally underrated because of how many blackwater park bandwagoners say it's their worst album.
@@nicpayne8258 blackwater park is so much better than morning rise. I honestly can't stand the mix. To bid you farewell was the first song I heard but the songs sound like a collection of riffs just put together. Tbh I've never understood the obsession with black rose immortal. Id say it's better than orchid, sorceress, and heritage but compared to mayh the song structure and mix issues just bleed through so obviously. Blackwater park has an objectively better mix which just makes everything feel more brutal, and everything flows so much better within the songs and in the song order choice
Stopped the video when Morningrise was mentioned early on - A brilliant, underrated prog/doom album.
My man said "Hair Apparent"😂
I love the list for the most part, very well-thought out and defended. I'd put Heritage on the bottom, like you. I'd definitely put Ghost Reveries as number one, so we're close there as well.
Also, Pale Communion is an underappreciated gem.
Good video.
I died at “Dryer for November”
Yes man!! I'm glad you put Pale Communion as your number 1! It's also my favourite of theirs. It's meatier than Heritage, but more structured than Sorceress. Like Still life but focused on prog rather than death metal.
I love the direction Opeth has taken recently. They got all that growling out of the way, and what you get now is a more mature, refined Opeth that has aged well. Like a fine wine.
For the most part I agree with your opinions. I think Ghost Reveries is number 1 but that's MY opinion. Love the video!!
1000% Ghost Reveries.
This is an impossible task I admire you for tackling it!
Opeth has never made a bad album. All of their albums are amazing.
Casey Mather Sorry, Heritage is a deception
Sorry, Sorceress is a deception.
Which Camel song is ending credits ripped of?
"My arms your hearse" had a concept too.
YOURE ABSOLUTELY.....
You’re absolutely right if that’s how you feel about it. I’m primarily a metal guy, that likes some prog Metal/rock and other things. And I’ve watched your vids on Rush, Genesis, etc.
I was fairly shocked to see that you listened to death metal at all. And so naturally it makes sense to have a ranking different than the metal guys ranking.
I think you did a damn good job on this list. And no, I don’t have mine sorted. I was a little late on the Opeth train. I love everything I’ve heard so far, but need more repeat listens to give a fair assessment
cool channel, I subbed. I know this is YOUR favs, I somewhat disagree tho, Heritage is great! My fav is Ghost Reveries........respect your opinion tho.......carry on.
Ghost Reveries happens to be my favorite album by Opeth. Ghost of Perdition is such an incredible song. Somehow they can capture the feel of that rustic historic feel even just through the instrumental track. The best part is that the album tells a story, which in itself could probably be its own book. Fantastic!
Thanks to your review, I have just discovered Pale Communion. What a fabulous album!
13:55 Serenity Painted Death is such an underated song in my opinion
Noooooooo midway through your video I was really convinced you would place Watershed first xD it's my favourite precisely because it sounds like Opeth as an ever changing band; it encompasses the brutal and the mellow, the prog and the comfortable, the experimental and the familiar. The only thing that is missing from that album is the more groovy side they expressed so well in Sorceress (yup, I like that album, sorry not sorry). Still, I love Watershed so fucking much. But I understand your thing with Ghost Reveries, it's also in my top (Ghost of Perdition is my mobile phone ringtone for a reason lol). Great video, came here after watching the Dream Theater one :)

Martin T those might be in the works ;)
I would’ve put Damnation in the top 4, IMO. Damnation is a such a beautiful album and it showcases more of Opeth’s creative songs and riffs. Windowpane is a great opening song and it just draws you in and you just get immersed into all of the album. But I might also be biased on this because I grew up listening to this album while falling asleep but I still appreciate it to this day.
1. Damnation
2. Ghost Reveries
Where would you put In Cauda Venenum in this list?
1. ghost reveries
2. blackwater park

Opeth is by far my favorite band. I love almost every song they’ve ever made. The list isn’t me thinking about what’s worst, rather i put first what i listen to the most often. Blackwater Park, Ghost reveries, and The roundhouse tapes are what i enjoy most and listen to most often. then comes albums like my arms, your hearse, deliverance, watershed, and sorceress. i love all of these albums, and yes, even sorceress. i listen to lamentations a ton but i put it lower because the crowd can sometimes get annoying (the screaming on the first words in hope leaves, etc.). Still life has some great songs, but my favorite off of the album, Face of melinda, sounds better on the roundhouse tapes to me. the last few albums on the list i don’t listen to very often. there are great songs and sequences of songs on those albums, but there are a lot of misses on those albums. just my opinion.
Can you do one on Porcupine Tree please, another band with some amazing albums. Love your choices i like most of the bands you have featured so far. Cheers
A bit late but i have to do it. It is ''Black Rose Immortal'' not ''Black Rose Eternal''. I think you are not too familiar with it, that's why is so low on your list, but it's your list... so i respect that anyways. Btw, i'm new to your channel and it's great!
Do you just decide a random album to have in that space to your right? Or do you ever think about it and come up with some reason? Or both depending on the video?
Depends on the video. I try to relate it somehow with the band / artist I'm covering (EG: Opeth have major influences from Camel). Other's it's what ever's on my right and I just leave it up :)
I recently have been going through all of their albums in order for the first time in years and I have to say after listening to them all again, Watershed is definitely my favorite album from theirs!
Why? Because in my opinion, it is the perfect mix between their heavy and light material!
Hessian Peel might actually be my favorite track from them now, but then again, there are so many masterpieces from them that it's very tough to decide!
Good list though! I think Pale Communion is probably their best in terms of their softer albums.
Pale Communion is an underrated album. My favorite song is probably the closing track of the album "Faith in Others", so beautiful. But yeah, my favorite Opeth album varies from time to time, but currently it's probably Watershed.

That being said, nice walkthrough of the records. Definitely one of my favourite bands of all time.
Opeth was a springboard for me as well, but just the other way around. I've been a straght up metal guy since I was a kid, but Opeth helped me appreciate prog rock. Throught them, I learned about PT and then there was no way back :D
Watershed was the album that got be into Opeth too, its cool you put it as high as you did. WHile I am still going through the discography of Opeth, I think that so far your list is like how mine will be, just Pale Communion won't be as high maybe
No matter which Opeth song / album is your fav, you'll be will be judged, thats how diverse their work is. I love the hauntingly beautiful elements of their songs.

My man :D
Introduced the mellotron on Ghost Reveries? Have you even listene to Damnation? That album is nothing but mellotron. It's even used on some tracks from Blackwater Park.
Opeth is my all time favorite band. Ghost Reveries is what got me in to them. But Pale Communion is probably my favorite album by them. But my absolute favorite song is "A Fair Judgement" off of Deliverance. Great video.
As I discovered you through your Ayreon videos, I would love a worst/best of said artist!
Hahahahahaha dryer of November 😂😂😂
Yeah, that's the beauty about Opeth: Everyone finds something else in their music :)
You, for example, value the prog-aspects very high, as do I. But I value the dark melancholy, which is much more present in their "Mid-range-albums" (Damnation/Deliverance/BWP/Still Life...) even more. But your list might be a good way to approach someone with Opeth who also doesn't care much about that raw melancholy. Thanks for an interesting watch!
This video puts me in a tough position. Because I can't say you're wrong because it's just a matter of opinion. You make some very good points and some very "what the fuck?" points. Haha. By the way, this is what I plan on doing sooner or later. Making my own UA-cam channel and recording commentary videos such as yours, discussing and reviewing movies and music. Keep up the good work! :)
whats the album on your left?
Camel's Snow Goose
Just FYI. I watch you at 2x. Which would point to making two videos. One short opinion video with the list a and a few comments . And then an in-depth discussion video . Cheers. Love your channel
Where does one start if they want to get into Opeth? I've listened to a few individual tracks in the past, but just coundn't get into them. I'm generally not a huge fan of growling vocals, but I can definitley look past them if the music is engaging enough.
My introduction was watershed, so I'd recommend starting there. Everyone loves Blackwater Park, but I prefer Ghost Reveries. And can't go wrong with Pale Communion :)
nice video. I'm listening to some albums and I listened to two opeth songs which are harvest and then ghost of perdition (So fucking good btw), some albums I tried to listen recently were from death, ghost, stratovarius, judas priest, megadeth morbid angel and vader (I say "tried" because I'm not sure if I like them), but I think I'm not going to hear opeth now because it's prog metal and I'm not sure if I can understand it very well (even the instrumental, but that aplies to the lyrics as well), I have this problem that some times I can't tell what the meaning of the lyrics is, and opeth seem to have this poetic, meaningfull lyrics, so... I think I'm not hearing it now, and I'll eventually get back to it. Another thing is that I have to improve my english too, I think I have an at least medium english, but there's a lot of words, and idiomatic expressions that I don't get''n stuff.
Dude, listen to Serenity Painted Death and White Cluster a few more times each. Both took me a few listens and they some of my favorite songs by the band, especially SPD! Still Life is my favorite album by these guys
Almost 3 years late with this comment (when I started watching I did not realise that on monday the video is 3 years old). Only thing I really wanted to say is that In Cauda Venenum would be among my top 3 Opeth albums. Notes, if you see this where would you place that album?
Definitely in the top five for sure. It keeps growing and getting better.
@@NotesReviews yeah I agree I still often come back to it since the release. I constantly switch back and forth between Empath and In Cauda for the best album of 2019.
You should really check out Toehider!
My Arms your Hearse is a concept album, it's basically about someone who dies and dealing with being trapped in spirit form and the reaction of seeing his loved ones, both anger and sadness, throughout the seasons, hence songs like April Ethereal and Demon of the fall.... It has abit more to it than that but that's the basics of it and actually once you listen to it as a whole it hits different, if you read the lyrics it's all basically one long story, every song being a different chapter.
I agree on the top 2 (and the rest of the list too for the most part) and I, too, would rank Pale Communion the highest. There's just something about it! I knew even the very first time I heard it that it was special. You mention the fact that it's hard to pick a favourite, and while I agree, I think what makes it stand out from the rest is that it plays so well from start to finish. And that says a lot when it comes to a band like Opeth, where that is true about most of their work. I just wanted to shed some light on that , because after much deliberation and pondering about what makes it so great, that's what I've come to realize. At least that's what does it for me. Anyway, great list and review.
"Hair Apparent"? 😂
He has dyslexia I think

4. Ghost Reveries
5. Sorceress
It's an Ion USB Turntable. I got it for Christmas from my Pops before heading off to school about....jeeze! Ten years ago...
Great list! Loved to hear the reasoning behind the Sorceress love :)
I love Sorceress because it feels like Mastodon to me, who I also love, but it doesn’t stray too far from Opeth either. Plus I far prefer Mikael’s clean vocals to his growls (not that I don’t like his growls, but I think he sings better clean.).
You made me want to go back and listen to Pale Communion again, carefully this time. My interest in Opeth or even Prog Rock / Metal dropped after Watershed.
My List:
1. Ghost Reveries - 10
2. In Cauda Venenum - 10
3. Blackwater Park - 10
4. Pale Communion - 9,5
5. Damnation - 9,5
6. Still Life - 9
7. Sorceress - 8,5
8. Deliverance - 8,5
9. Watershed - 8
10. My Arms Your Hearse - 8
11. Morningrise - 7,5
12. Heritage - 7
13. Orchid - 7,
