is the 2020 Mazda 3 AWD the BEST compact car to BUY?

  • The Mazda has decides to take the Mazda 3 to an all new level for compact cars. Under the hood is a 2.5L inline-4 that is mated to a 6speed transmission and is sending power to all 4-wheels. It's exterior has been shaped to reveal an eye catching design. On the inside you will find an upscale interior with great fit & finish. Has Mazda changed the compact car game with the Mazda 3?

It definitely is more upscale. You see the BOSE speaker setup in the door? That’s straight from Porsche. I mean it literally looks identical. I didn’t know that until I saw a review on a Porsche and immediately noticed that....

@Twilight 8368 I own one and sell them and I disagree. It’s not thirsty, the 6 speed does the job perfectly, the 2.5 with 180hp is more than enough. I bet you drive a Chevy cobalt from 2007

Nice review! I bought a 2020 Mazda 3 sedan premium trim about 2 weeks ago. I got the soul red crystal color and it’s absolutely beautiful! The cars looks great and feels great to drive, I’m loving it so far. I’m also impressed with the interior and tech. It’s super comfortable and quiet while driving.
I came from an Acura TLX and while the Mazda is a little smaller and less powerful, it really doesn’t feel like much of a downgrade to me at all while costing about $15k less!

Just rewatching this video today. Towards the end you mentioned about Mazda dropping a turbo in this car. Ask and you shall receive ! As we all know that is supposed to be coming soon. I think the Mazda 3 turbo could be a real sleeper car. Interested to see how that engine in the smaller Mazda 3 works out. I think the AWD will help a lot. I'm a fan of hatchbacks, but I heard a lot of people complain about the rear visibility of the Mazda 3 hatchback. I have to test drive it when the turbo becomes available to see for myself. Another good review Joe, looking forward to your next review !

The car is indeed beautiful and high quality, but there is one thing that bothers it: the new shape of the steering wheel. The leather coating is high quality, but the profile of the steering wheel is flattened and not round (not "tubular") as before, and therefore not comfortable in any position of the hand, but in a very specific position. The uncomfortable grip makes driving uneasy. It is a great pity that they abandoned the "universal", rounded shape, which is suitable for any driver and in any position.

I own a 17 Mazda 6 and they didn’t cylinder deactivate till 2018. While I don’t like cylinder deactivation it’s still better than the awful stop/start. So happy Mazda hasn’t gone down that road.

Hi, are you really planning to by a 350? If you had a chance would u buy a 350 or a 350r? I’m considering it too, I’m not planning to track it, just want to get it because I like it and would only use it on like weekends, which one would u recommend? Thanks

Would love to have you review the '19 or '20 6MT mazda3 hatch someday! Curious if the lighter weight of FWD manual is any more fun than the AWD auto. As always thanks for another great review, Joe.

The only “Zonk” I can give is that when you do trunks, it’d be cool if we had exactly how much CF is in each one. People like numbers. You give us all the engine numbers (HP, PFT), mpg, car price, etc., but be it regular or hatchback, we like to see how much cubic feet the car offers (with seats up And seats down). & also maybe gas tank capacity? - Just a thought Joe. 👍

    • @AeroDude73

This car reminds me of Saab from several years ago. They got so much right with this car but just didn't finish it. They even left out features that were present in the previous car, features that are available in other markets. They seem to be confused by who the target customer is for this car and the sales numbers seem to support this. They could have a winner here with better focus and execution.

Rear looks very expensive. 2.5L NA might be less maintenance not bad hp/torque either Needs fog lights, and no Torsion Beam for 30k. 26k would be better of course.
