Julius has been building mystic knights and recruiting specific people with unique abilities. I believe Julius has been a master counter-stroke against Lucius and his siblings. He probably fudged his own memory to hide his plans from Lucius like Lucius did to him.

Asta being born without magic is probably the world balancing the scales. Kind of like how during Patry's battle with Julius, he felt like the world made him so he could stop him from defying the natural order of the world. Lucius probably sees Asta as the last bastion like Patry saw Julius as his.

a follow up to my previous reply that may support this theory is that the place where they are fighting currently is extremely reminiscent of the area where julius and patry started their battle and they kind of were facing each other in the same way, and this is just speculation, but it might actually be the exact same roof where they fought
I feel it's more of a biological point of view like how all Elves have more magic power thsn humans.
So maybe Asta's father is a human without magic and so he passed it unto his son which allowed him to survive being born from a woman who absorbs magic from all living things around him.
Also on how Anti magic works I think it's like a psionic power as it was born from Liebe's hatred of Devils. So maybe Asta can also manifest a power like it to.
If being born with a disability gives you a benefit of being strong with devil possession. then asta being born without magic in a world where magic is key. technically makes it the ultimate disability, making him the ultimate devil host
I believe that Asta is a half devil half human hybrid. And that astaroth is his father. I think that lucita telling liebe "not all devils are bad" was definitely foreshadowing. And it's no coincidence that he was named asta

well..... Asta not having mana is caused by his mom (richita), she had the ability to absorb life force and mana, which led to him having no mana, so the cause is most likely plot convenience, like Izuku being born quirkless, however it could be something to do with a cosmic power, I have a theory that doesn't have to much backing for but it's what I've got currently, Julius may have found a way for richita to gain this curse for this domino of events to happen, I know that they know everything about eachother but Lucius being able to see into the future without Julius's full awareness leads to some things that could very well chang how you look at Julius and Lucius's relationship as well as their ability to fight one another

It's pretty simple why Lucious could never anticipate asta. The way Julious and the tame magic works, is by accelerating time for the mana around them to see the future. however Asta's power eraces mana, no mana, no future sight. If you believe Patri, in the world of black clover, the world has a tendancy to create anomolies to defend against blatent afronts to nature, like how it placed a time magic user with the weirdest grimior in history to stop Patri from unnaturally resurecting the elves with forbidden magic. It could simply be that asta is that for Lucious's plan. Hell maybe Asta was that for Patri too, since we know that in the end it was asta that actually stopped the devil's plan, not Julious.
Yeah soul magic does indeed sound like it could be the magic type Lucius was born with before acquiring time magic from the devil. Since all of his siblings have magic type related to the human body.
Also, I wonder if they are some kind of family related magic types because these attributes seems pretty rare.

At this point there's probably no need for soul magic. Literally everyone and their mother has a second soul living in them by now. It's like a new fad.

I’m so confused with this Julius Lucius thing. The Clover Kingdom king before said that Julius was a Royal of the Clover Kingdom, but how is that possible if Lucius is from the Spade kingdom? Also the timeline is confusing me, the Zogratis family took over Spade Kingdom around 16-17 years ago. Do we know how long between Zenon becoming Beelzebub’s host and taking over the kingdom? Because Lucius was still in his wheelchair when Zenon came to him to become a Devil Host. But even if there were a few years between both events, at that time Julius should have been the captain of the Grey Deer or whatever the squad was called. A magic knight captain constantly being MIA wouldn’t go unnoticed without suspicion. What I’m saying is we need an insanely good explanation for any of this to make sense.
Also I still think Asta and Liebe are the sons of Astaroth simply because the similarities between Asta’s and Astaroth’s names would be to much of a coincidence otherwise. Plus Liebe literally looks like a demon twin of Asta

@@cooldude4376 also something I forgot in my original comment, there’s an undeniable resemblance between young Julius and the first Wizard King Prince Lumiere. I know 500 years is a long time so it’s possible for his descendants (obviously not his own kids since he didn’t have any) to potentially move to the spade kingdom. Though unless one of them was banished from the Clover Kingdom, possibly for research on Devil Magic, it wouldn’t make much sense
Do you remember in anime/manga that Julius keep running away from his work? Well, maybe, that those times Lucius takes over his own body and he's in control and pause the time to switch places from Clover Kingdom to Spade Kingdom giving himself more time.
It seems that Lucius has been planning this long before the Zogratis siblings took over the Spade Kingdom.
What I REALLY want to know is 2 major things. One: What is Lucius/Julius's real magic attribute. It's most likely based around the human body like his siblings, but I have no idea. Two: Why haven't we actually met Astaroth? Even Beelzubub, who we barely know anything about, made an appearance when Zenon spoke to him. What did Lucius do to him?
Also, I have a theory about the 2 souls thing. It's possible that the Zogratis mother was pregnant with twins, and one baby absorbed the other, destroying the body but not the soul. Just a thought.

For me, I believe that each person is born with a purpose. But, I have a feeling that Julius was and is in fact the father of Asta. Also, Julius isn't a fool as many think. So I believe, that he is Asta's father and like William who knew that Patrie was inside him from he was a kid, Julius would have known that Lucius was also inside him too, so he had to set a plan in motion to defeat him.
I agree that Julius might have been aware. He's actually very cunning even though he acts goofy(his smartness is especially shown in the light novels) plus he has a lot of mana so it would have been possible for him to sleep with asta's mom without getting too hurt maybe

I don't think Julius was aware, his reaction to what Damnatio had said just told me he had no idea to me, he was completely oblivious to what he was feeling during the war, at the end of the chapter when Lucius makes his first appearance Julius realizes what it is he was feeling due to Damnatio. Julius is quite brilliant, and I strongly believe that he had knowledge to some extent of Lucius and went into planning mode to find the possible ways in which he could stop him.

I really like how thhis Chapter is also Based not only on Lucius but also Asta himself. And it gives him more credits why he is the MC of the series. Asta is Such a Unique Character.
The mere fact that Julius was so interested in Asta, says something. He wasn't just fascinated with his power as many of us may have thought initially, but he was intrigued for other reasons. Many like myself always wondered why he took a great interest in him in the first place, trust me on this, Julius played the I Don know anything role very well after seeing his son.
One thing for sure is that Its going to be a Difficult Fight for Asta Because of the Level of Respect he Has For the Wizard King and knowing that Lucius had taken Over the Wizard king's Body, I would love to see the fight between them and I know that Asta is going to Win
Anti-Magic specifically comes from Liebe who manifested his powers after being stored in Licht's old grimoire by Richita. So I dont think Asta's anti magic has anything to do with his father? Anti magic can only be wielded at full power by someone with no mana which is most likely why the grimoire that Liebe was stored in chose Asta. So the anomaly would be tied to Liebe and his origins/Liebe being the parallel to Asta in the underworld.
If Lucius wanted Asta out of the picture he would've ported back in time and killed his mother before she was pregnant. Since she only absorbed mana and stored mana-less objects.

The only thing that breaks your theory is that its pretty heavily implied/shown that Julius was unaware of Lucius and that while Lucius was able to observe from within, Julius had lived a live completely unaware of Lucius' existence right up to the point where he finally realized who he was/what was going on which implies Lucius had altered Julius' memories/made rewound him so he could live a "normal" life inside the clover kingdom
well a thought i can think of is that maybe julius was aware of the future enough to know that he needed to father asta and not enough to be aware of lucius. and then maybe julius found the grimoire with anti magic and then decided to father asta. but the funniest bit i can think of is maybe julius was aware of lucius at some point in the past and then used his magic to send baby asta through time a bit. right now we do not know how long devils live for. so asta could be at any point of time. and at any point lucius might of removed julius' memory.

Asta has anti magic because of his mother taking all of his magic and Liebe granting him with his, it's as simple as that. Anti magic is LIEBE'S magic not Asta's. If anything Julius/Lucius may have had an unintentional hand in Liebe getting out of hell and meeting Asta's mom, but that's it.
@@jase276 well asta only got anti magic once he was around his teens. so its fare game with anything. i mean all that was needed to be done was to case some time spell that seals asta in a time bubble stasis spell. i mean this place has magic anything can happen. saying it cannot happen is not logical. we have a time mage that's been alive for who knows how long with serious magic power. and to be honest we do not have any clear time table on what happen when in black clovers in world history.

The complete opposite souls in one body is very interesting, somehow Lucius was able to manipulate Julius into carrying his life without knowing about his true self, I think we got hints of the manipulation with Zenon´s flashback before perishing, his magic could be either mind or soul magic. But man Julius really proved to be a complete unit, he was not playing Lucius game despite his amazing power and witnessing humanity´s worst he took upon himself to work with what he had and protect and nurture future generations, then we have Lucius, nope, destroy and rebuild to MY standards.
Imagine since lucius's control over time magic is far superior to Julius he can create a time bubble spanning the entire clover kingdom and he starts to steal the time from every civilian. I think the MK's wouldn't get too affected since they probably have some way to counter or at least protect themselves from the time magic

Asta is really a freak of nature imagine having one of the most op power To ever exist (time magic) but can't see the future with asta and you got to eliminate it cause you got no control over it at all .
I kind of doubt that Julius is Asta's father only due to the fact that Lucius would have known about Asta right from the start... Plus Asta's mother basically having the absorption magic essentially absorbing Asta's mana until he was born could in theory leave asta without an ounce of mana in the first place whether he was biologically engineered as a homunculus or not. The bio engineered theory won't work due to the current time that they were in, it wasn't super futuristic nor the stone age so that theory would have been a bust. Besides wouldn't Asta be able to tell a sense of familiarity between family, (even though his mom is dead though meaning you can't really find that out to be true) and the father of Asta must be immune or highly resistant against the uncontrollable absorption magic that Asta's mother in order to survive or that Asta's father died due to a severe lack of mana.
It's possible Julius didn't exactly plan to have a child and just got close to Licita to see if with her condition she could possibly give birth to a child without magic. Maybe he just planned to stay friends but they fell in love? Maybe even Julius with time magic could reverse the effects of her condition and that's why he was able to be near her? Just speculation, but we are in the final arc and still don't know who the father is. At this point I think it isn't a coincidence that Asta just so happened to be born as the perfect counter to Lucius' plans, without him knowing about.
The Witch Queen, with her blood magic, already stated the reason why Asta can never use magic. His body can not retain magic, due to a mutation within his blood.
Now, yeah, Julius is not Asta's father. If he was, Lucius would know.

I also dont think Asta's father is anyone exactly special since the only thing special about Asta is his unending stamina and lack of magic. At best his father probably had a shit tone of magic or a way to mitigate the absorption. We have seen people that arent nobility be born with massive mana reserves

People forget how genes and birth work. His mana wasn't absorbed in the womb. Being a probisct of his mother (and mysterious father) naturally a mutation would take place around inception so that he would properly develope in such an environment, i.e. being manaless, as well as impervious to the life absorption.
Still works out even if we get away from the "hows." We're talking about a world of magical races and literal Devils.
Personally I'm all for the missing Head of Hell being part of orchestrating Asta and Libe's birth and crossing paths as possibly a grand plan to not only overthrow Lucifero, but perhaps reopen the gates of the underworld. Or at least to "cross" Lucius at an opertune moment.
It is even possible we have a "Jesus" situation. No mortal with any special abilities needed if a Devil just wills him into the womb lol. Between having multiple magical attributes, magical items, and deals and such it is possible

I disagree with the Julius being Asta’s father, Lucius would have been aware of Julius in that plan. However, I might believe that Asta’s father could have been an angel, or some sort of being that had enough mana to counteract the absorption of licita
Don't forget that it was thanks to asta that they were able to defeat lucifero, who was important to lucius' plans. What if he allowed Julius to make asta because he was integral to his plan as well. Both Julius and lucius needed asta for their plans... but I dunno that's just my thoughts lol
If Lucius was Asta's father it would be too cliche. But, hell, Julius being the last sibling was also extremely obvious so I guess at this point what does it even matter anymore. I'd say Asta not being part of Lucius's plan is proof that he's not the father. I've held on to Asta's dad being an angel, too, since devils were itnroduced. But, since this is the final arc and angels, nor any other race besides elves and devils, have been introduced/focused on I guess we'll never know if they exist. A real waste of potential teasing halfbreed people like Charmy with fantasy races and not going anywhere with it.

Also Lucius says hes seen everything except for Asta...but if he really had seen everything he would have seen Asta but maybe since Asta was born without magic he couldnt see him when Astaroth showed him. Or maybe Astaroth saw Asta but just didnt show Lucius.
a funny thought that popped up when you mentioned that was that astaroth saw the future of the piece that lucius told him but didn't tell how it would happen. leading lucius to believe he is the hero only for him to be the villain that gets curb stomped by asta.

The only "issues" with 2 souls being in this one body is placements along the history we've been given.
Then again, with a time user and the demon lord of time involved, I wouldn't be surprised if they can somehome create some sorta 'unending time displacement' and 'parallel timelimes' spells.
Someone else pointed out how, from what we've been given, Lucius and Julius would literally be in opposite parts of the kingdom simultaneously given both their backstories.
I write off the wheelchair bound thing as being the other siblings using their magic to fixing or even "fashioning him some new legs" once they were adept enought to do so and decided its go time

I want Asta being born without magic to be a complete accident. Julius being Asta's father and born just to defeat Lucius defeats the whole Asta's stroy of your birth doesn't determine who you will be.
Also it's kind of badass when you think a boy with no mana and is nobody is standing against the "God"
The problem with that is that no ordinary person would've been able to conceive ASTA with his mother. Anyone would've died in the process so it would make sense for his father to be super powerful and capable of withstanding the magic and life drain or his father is just no human at all
I'd like there to be only 2 possibilities to Asta's father. 1. He died in the act (lol) which is why he's not around or 2.He's an Angel. Either way, I'd like Asta's birth being entirely up to chance. Not everything is an Aizen level plot thousands of years in the making.

I'm leaning more towards Astaroth being astas father.. I think he (astaroth) saw a future where Lucius & Julius would somehow defeat him in a binding ritual & take his power, so to keep Lucius from completely ruling he escaped the underworld & met lecita so that one day their son would save the world

Lucius uses brain magic to brainwash Julius by controlling him as a vessel.
Maybe Julius used some aspect of Lucius’ magic and split astas soul to make him a body that didn’t have magic and liebe is the other half.. having anti magic because the process in order to awaken the magic was so backwards

I think Lucifero has planned something for his return at 100% Because I was skeptical regarding his speech with lucious when he said he might lost half of his body (real body). It was confusing cuz he already lost to Asta in the real world and Adramalech took his heart (at 50%). I think Tabata is cooking something! we will see though!

I do think that Julius is Asta's father, but for all of this to make since, it has to be that when Julius is in charge of the wizard king body, Lucius is not aware of what's going on, (even though they can conversate with each other in a soul realm of some sort). So, when Lucius became stronger than Julius, he was able to take control of the wizard king body. I think both of them can see the future, so that also means that they can change the future also. Fates have been changed numerous times in Black Clover, and this one will not be any different.

Julius could have somehow sped up time for Asta’s grown in the womb which prevented him from being drained of life force by his mother.
I've got a feeling we're going to see Julius again towards the end of the fight with Lucius but what I think is Lucius will probably be on the verge of winning or has killed multiple people so Julius will over power him and kill himself/Lucius in order to make everything go back to the way it was or, something along those lines if that makes sense 🥺😔
