I grew up in Park County Colorado and this is how I lived growing up. Love this way of life! As it happens I'm moving back after all these years to where I grew up.
My day’s of camping and sleeping outside have been gone for a fair number of years, being 70 years old and in fair health has seen to that. Then you release a video and I am young again and roaming the woods. Thank you so much for your content.
I felt the same way as joseph frasure while watching your video! I'm almost 65 and sleeping on the ground lost it's appeal until I started watching vids of folks camping setups. This video made me feel like I could have been there 👏👏👏
I liked the way the candle sputtered and sparked. It reminded me of a firework that’s just about to go off. That feeling of anticipation...but for longer😀 Thank you for the video.
Dear friend. Again an excellent video and a fantastic and very well specified explanation about the candle you have built. Very good. It's a real pleasure to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing them. Kind regards. Best regards.
Ingeniously adaptive, sir! One time I had a lantern chimney glass shatter when a rain squall blew water on it. I then made a crude candle using a piece of leather bootlace for a wick and cooking oil for fuel. A mere puff of breeze would blow it out if it wasn't shielded, but it worked. Nicely done video, as per your standard, my friend.
This man is in his element and he triggers my passion! so natural, poised he is in the craftmanship he masters. A real outdoors pleasure to look at this post Thank you
You packed so much cool stuff in this for us your students in the craft, Swedwood!!! Perhaps one of your best works? Thank you, Son of Sweden, Friend of the Forest, and Master of many crafts. You have become - and always will be - my Hero!
Perfect way to enjoy my coffee. Candle is pretty cool. Never seen a brace / auger bit set up like that . Charcoal adds texture to the steak. Have a great day
there is no greater feeling than sitting in a 1/2 Lavvu and seeing the first few snowflakes falling, absolutely loved that candle a wee project over the holiday season for me, our first snow has started to fall and some parts of Scotland will drop to minus 15 this week..kindest regards
I knew you are real when I saw a proper working mittens instead of something like tactical gloves that will be cold or wet or both during the work in the forest :)
Great cinema again, it is so cool to join you to the woods, nearly as it would be real and I could smell and feel the fire, the trees and the beautiful swedish scenery. Thank you for this beauty🙏 and all the best from 🇦🇹🤠👍
Swed👍👍 Awesome snowy trek in the bush with all the good stuff included. Lavvu shelter is perfect, waterproof, windproof, wearable and more. Too bad the hot blast lantern failed you, but they are more prone to that. Where there's fire, food isn't far behind and it usually makes me head to the kitchen... Nothing like snow in a forest, usually makes it dead silent unless the wind blows. The sap candle worked good given the circumstances, a tiny campfire in candle form with all the same traits. Well as always the filming was top notch as were the camp chores, no BS just pure utility. Thanks for the excellent trip and hard work bringing me along. Next time..
Real outdooring with activated innovation generated by the need. No rush, simple and effective control with professional approach. Thank you again for superior content Swedwoods 👍👋! Br, Janne
I can see it in your body language. You know whats happening to the world and this is how you escape. You arent alone. I really wish I had a place to bush-craft. Incredible videos
I’ve got to say I really enjoyed your videos. Not many in this world can do bushcraft, survive with the basics, be creative and take on winter conditions. It’s a shame most of the younger generation don’t practice any skills related to bushcraft or know how to ruff it in the woods. Thanks for sharing your experience and videos.
@@Swedwoods May I ask where you do most of your hikes? I was hiking in middle Sweden five years ago and it was so rocky it was sometimes difficult to set up camp.
Why do I feel like this man could walk into any patch of woods anywhere and build a rocket out of a hollowed out log, some pine sap and birch bark sending it into orbit rivaling anything currently available. This is really cool stuff sir! I like the whole thing where you hike in somewhere, drop your pack, build a fire, cook some hunk o meat or a stew, enjoy its tasty goodness and then decide you’d rather camp somewhere else so you pick up and move. That’s cool. That’s similar to a tactic people use when hiking in bear country. If they’re backpacking then stop about a mile before camp to make and eat dinner then continue on to camp. Still bearbag but you’re not camping where you ate. It’s not 100% nothing is but it’s a mitigation measure. Thank you sir! Take care. NQU
Great video mate. I too was out last night with the tarp in much the same and got to "hear" the lake start it's freeze for winter during the evening/night. Very magical, very relaxing...I'm glad I don't have to video the experience😀 but I do take my hat off to you that you do video the experience, so that all the folks at home can see how beautiful this country is. Respect as always sir, long may you continue to post. Ha det bra.
Another great trip! I always enjoy them, but I think the snow trips are my favorite. I've done sap candles before, but the flat rock dampeners were a new one for me. Very clever and simple! Thanks for sharing the tip. 👍 In the comments of a previous video, I thought your axe was a Hultafors Akka, and you corrected me that it is a Kissa. Looking at their catalog, I think the Akka is the replacement to the Kissa. Very similar side profile, but noticeably different looking at it top down. The Akka has a different shape to the wedge and cheek. I haven't handled either, but from my own experience, I prefer the Kissa shape. It was short lived and fairly costly here in Canada, so you are fortunate to have my preference of the two! Just a bit of axe envy here 😂. Thank you for another great video and sharing some of your tricks for turning something good, into something better! 🇨🇦
Sensational stuff! I really look forward to seeing your winter escapades - it's extremely therapeutic relaxation. Nice to see the Polish poncho still going strong - testament to a humble bit of kit ✌👍
