What a beautiful video. You are truly a Renaissance man: A talented videographer, accomplished musician and sketch artist, excellent woodsman -- and you do a really MEAN chicken! Enjoyed every minute of this video.
No offense but that chicken kinda got burned. Too much flame too short cooking time. But that’s usually the case. For the best result the legs and wings should be fixed close to the body so it’s a fairly uniform cook, and then you can’t really rely on a fixed spit unless you have proper control of the wind and a fair amount of embers to move around. In my experience it’s better to put it at the end of a solid stake which you can weigh down at the end with a rock and turn and move around as the circumstances change. For a golden, supercrisp chicken that’s cooked through and completely juicy I’ll usually take 2-2,5 hours depending on the wind and ambient temperature. Can’t rush a whole chicken on an out-door fire, if you want it all. But of course that’s not always the objective …
The draw to watch your videos is always there, regardless of the time of year. For this one it didn't hurt that you're camping in a beautiful forest that is made even more beautiful thickly frosted with snow. It's a pleasure to see how much you enjoy being there. Thank you for a respite in my day and some food for the soul. (If you fold up the tip of the chicken wing it keeps it juicier & stops the tip from burning.)

Works and for coarse a folding spade, which is sanded on the sides. 2 pcs nylon tarps 4 x 6 meters and my polnish lavu etc. Get everything good on the Arctic Cat and can spend so a few days outside well.
