In this video I show you how I transfer from my wheelchair to the couch and back into the wheelchair again. Please leave a comment, SHARE, and subscribe.
+Living Successfully With Disabilities You mean to be able to transfer? I would certainly think that would be the case for those that are disabled later in life. I FORTUNATELY have been this way since birth and so my upper body strength came along just like someone's legs who walk would and it wasn't a big deal but it really would be an interesting advenure for anyone not born this way :) Thanks for the comment!
+Living Able Yes of course, that explains a lot. I am 6'2" tall at 220 lbs. and this is all relatively new to me. My shoulders and wrists are trashed. If i'm not on the ground I'm on my way there and if I pin my arm between my wheelchair and desk one more time, I'm going to freak!!! Ahhh, that feels better, LOL! Keep the great work! Thanks
nice! I find getting from down to up to be harder for me because I don't have much arm strength (probably because I don't really do much transferring without help)
I agree! I have spina bifida as well, but mine is higher at T6. I guess that explains why you are able to do a couch transfer better than me! But you gave me an idea, pointing the chair towards the couch and going towards the front instead of from the side to get back to the chair. I get on the couch the same way you do, and like you, I don't do it very often. Thanks for all your wonderful videos!
+Trista Kittle Awww, thank you for the encouragement! It's amazing what one extra inch to have between you and the chair can do to impede on the transfer. When I hurt my shoulder I realized how having my chair parallel to the bed doesn't work. But if I have the front closer it's fine. Very interesting. Glad I could help you!
if it helps, I have a traumatic spinal cord injury at T7 level, ask to know if they are almost the same difficulties in traveling, etc, thank you! I started to follow you so I see your instructive videos
Every injury is different for each person so even though one person is a level L1 and another is t7 some still function at different levels. My suggestion would be to continue watching my videos and it should help you decide if my ways, or others that have videos on my channel, will work for you.
I have no problem taking care of her and keeping a live and legally with a judge to get rid of anyone including you with emotional disturbances. who don't care about her.
Thank you very much for a look at your life. You are beautiful and very kind
courtneya1980 Thank you. So nice of you to say.

I am going to be a wheelchair person now no legs now, and is it your upper body power that's important the most
It certainly is when you don't have the use of legs!
Do you sit on the couch often or stay in your chair
I am in my chair most of the time when I am awake.
Hello how are you? How high is your spinal cord injury? saludos desde Argentina
I was born with SB. It's not techinically a spinal cord injury but the level is at L1. Hope that helps :)

This method is no good to me. I can't kneel.
+David Barker I respect that. I am sure if you keep looking online you will find a method that works for you. I know my ways won't work for everyone.
