pretty sure the canon answer is 'it was a miracle'

He survived because "The fire inside him burned brighter than the fire around him"

because the "Fuck it we ball" Inside of him burned brighter than "It's so over"

I think it's supposed to be highly improbable if not impossible. It's meant to be miraculous, as a lot of Honest Hearts deals with the spiritual and metaphysical

He is probably one of the most relatable video game npc I've ever seen.

My initial thought is maybe he may have fallen onto mutated flora and/or fauna, given the amount of adrenaline pumped into the body from a regular fire ant, it could be reasonable that a mutated ‘giant ant’ could inject enough venom into someone so as to further keep their system(s) running, as, thanks to the burns, he would not be bleeding (his entire body would be cauterized), and, in-fact, he likely wouldn’t feel anything either, as the burns would-have gone-through most of his nerves, just a thought.

Well there’s water at the bottom of the canyon so he probably wasn’t burning for long

It's possible that he could have landed in an iradiated part of the Grand canyon gaining a perk similar to the lone wanderer which allowed him to heal.

I think he slid down the cliff, rather than straight plummeting off. It likely would’ve snuffed out some of the flames and he probably got caught on something on the way down which slowed him down significantly.

The man has a 50 damage resistance with basically no armor, thats a superhuman ability. Hes also immune to chems. I bet you he was either slightly ghoulified at one point or that he was exposed to a low dose of the forced evolutionary virus at some point.

I figured he fell into a pool of water to help break his fall. Obviously smacking into water from a high fall is not optimal either, if you pull your legs close together you can mitigate this so that you cut straight into the water from a high fall. Might still break your legs but you may just survive depending how high the fall is. The burning injuries he's sustained could've happened just on his way down. If he was on fire for a longer period of time his burns would be far worse.

It may have to do with the Lore of Fallout being an Oral Tradition in universe.
Oral traditions has brought us many great Works such as Homer's Odysee.
Being passed down from the Bard's mouth to the Listener's Ear.
You know your Country's History this way.
Maybe you can't Recite it Ver Batim, as it is in your Textbook.
But you know the basic gist of how things went down.
    Bards did the Same Thing!
    Instead of shoving books worth of information into their brain;
They made a Mind Map of the Important Bits, and Filled in the Rest.
For Fallout 1 that would be something like this:
Locations: Military Base, Vault 13, Shady Sands (Capital), Vault 15.
Brotherhood, Junktown, Raiders. The Hub, Necropolis, Vault 12.
    Boneyard, The Glow. Cathedral.
Factions: Master's Army, Vault Dwellers, Villagers, Raiders. Gizmo,
Blackwell, BOS, Hub Merchants: Crimson Caravan/Far-Go, Thieves,
Assasins Zombies, Scavengers, Librarians, Gunrunners, Cultists.
Vital Characters: Overseer, Head Librarian,The Rogue Cultist,
    Luitenant, Master.
    Basic plot:
Vault Dweller tries to recover water chip, gets tangled up in the Master's plot.
Vault Dweller meets the Luitenant, and or the Master.
    This has major consequences.
The rest of the plot is generated like a game of DND.
Given time, anyone can memorise half a sheet of paper worth of information.
Then you fill in the blanks.
Sometimes the need arises to write down these stories, usually for political reasons.
Such as the fear that some invader might 'Corrupt' the existing oral tradition.
That's how Homer's Odysee, the Hindu Scriptures, and even the Bible got written down.

The legion didn't use chems but used different kinds of medicine i wonder if that had to do with it from both legion side and Dead Horse side

Very good points the only thing that i could add is maybe it wasnt the same fall it would be in real life. Since their timeline split from ours maybe there hasn't been the same amount of erosion that we've seen today

@@starvoyager2094wouldn’t the nukes be enough to change the shape/depth coz the only reason Vegas survived was coz of house so it’s not that much of a stretch to assume that the “walls” would have had the hight reduced from the heat and blasts like In Hiroshima where building and people were vaporised

@@gingerdan4367that’s not how strategic bombing works. Even if you have enough bombs to ensure that no square inch of the US isn’t touched by nuclear fire, you wouldn’t bomb areas that do not contain a strategic target. No one was wasting a bomb on wilderness (as Zion proves). The Grand Canyon didn’t get lowered by nukes.
I had heard somewhere that the canyon might have been used for waste disposal, so if you wanna get far fetched it could have been “filled in” to a degree.

    • @509Gman
      @509Gman 8 місяців тому +1

I think those that say “it was a waste dump” are conflating the Grand Canyon with the canyon at the southern end of I-15 in the main game area, personally.

@@509Gman still shock waves generated can travel extremely far distances and with enough in a general area (as there would be more than one due to targets like Helios one, Hoover dam and at the time Las Vegas) the force generated could cause a mild earthquake at worse and at best rock and land slides.
This is not backed by anything merely a thought exercise if you will so I hope you don’t take a this as an argument
