I don't think enough people give Halo's remarkable history enough credit. Xbox Live was created from a vision started with Halo: CE and Halo 2 revolutionized online console gaming. Every Let's Play channel, every Twitch gaming streamer, can thank the efforts started back in Halo 2/3 with organizations like Machinima. Absolutely one of the greatest franchises in history.
That even doesn't do it justice. Xbox live and alot of online services wouldn't exist if it hadn't been for Bungie. Bungie LITERALLY had to make Xbox Live to ensure that Halo would operate online. Halo is the reason for Xbox Live and it's absolutely fucking insane how much Halo shaped the industry and online connectivity
I'm glad you said this i always explain to my friends that it was bungie and halo that revolutionized fps on console even after they got told a proper fps would never work with a console controller and they proved them wrong. one thing people don't mention in halo 2 it had the first ever party chat system friends and just messaging what you have on Xbox and even ps started with halo 2

FINALLY you guys saw Landfall haha. Fun fact: Landfall was directed by Neil Blompkamp, (director of District 9, Elysium, Chappie). Landfall served as 3 things. Advertisement for H3, a canonical short on how the marines found Chief at the beginning of Halo 3 and a visual concept for how the live action Halo movie he was supposed to make would look. When the movie fell through, he used the leftover resources to make District 9. I really can't wait for you guys to play through this franchise

I just recently got really deep into the Halo lore, an absolutely incredible universe with probably the most terrifying zombie virus in all of fiction. I'm so glad that Halo is making a comeback. Also I highly recommend checking out some Halo lore videos like the Spartan armors lore or some stories about the absolute horror that is The Flood
Yeah cause i feel like a lot of people only know the game lore and not the book lore which kinda miffs me sometimes but it is what it is cause halos extended universe really adds so much to the experience
I love halo so much! Everything about it is iconic, even the sound track I listen to it when I read comics in other words everyday. I’d say my favorite game from the franchise is Halo Reach because you can create your own character.
Agreed about Reach, it was an unique experience playing the campaign, knowing that according to the lore humanity would lose the planet to the covenant, it gave it such an impendent doom feeling, and yet through the heroic actions of noble team, notably noble 6 (incarnated by the player) allowed the events of the iconic Halo CE (the game that started it all) to be set in motion, was truly emotional! The Cycle was complete! Add the nostalgia factor, Reach being over 11 years old now, and you've got one of the top 3 if not my fav Halo game! Despite their graphics the og trilogy is special, and Reach was the final gem .... however from H4 (which isn't a bad game to be fair) onwards, the franchise started to decline, H5 is the worst game of the franchise for me..and I really hope infinite redeems the last 2 titles!

Awesome reactions! Halo has always had great marketing and trailers. The effort put into Halo 3’s marketing was insane, all the trailers, vidocs, live action (Landfall) etc. Think it’s time for a play through soon!
I think all the Halo games in the Master Chief Collection are great, if you like the trailers you should try them since they are all playable in splitscreen! Halo 5 is the only game that's just meh, and it doesn't even have splitscreen. Luckily Halo Infinite seems to be great and I can't wait for the campaign! There are also 4 Halo movies if you're interested: *Halo: Fall of Reach* tells the origin story of the Master Chief *Halo 4: Forward unto Dawn* is a prequel for Halo 4 and introduces Lasky, a new character in Halo 4 *Halo Nightfall* is a prequel for Halo 5 and introduces Locke, a new character in Halo 5 *Halo Legends* is a collection of anime short movies in the Halo Universe, similar to Star Wars Visions.

Would love it if you reacted to total war warhammer 1 & 2 they got some good trailers for the races and factions out there just try and keep away from the gameplay and mechanics trailers and you'll have some fun/cool ones. The halo landfall trailer was so good because Neil Blomkam was one of the directors on it. He mentioned it during his podcast with Joe Rogan. Apparently he was injured on set when he cut his hand open on the turret of the warthog.
This was such a great reaction and so much history. I love the halo games and lore so much. For the games, my friends and I used to host halo parties where we would have our xbox all hooked up to each other and play each other in full 16 players matches. We would all be shouting having a good time. Its was such an fun time where we all try different modes and full of chaos. For the lore though, Halo has been my favorite lore and how deep it gets. There is three books that are great. The first one is called Fall of reach by Eric Nylund that really describe the Master Chief background and how he became a Spartan. No spoilers, but its pretty messed up on the process which they show hints of in some of the in trailers. It also explain what Reach was and how important in the system. Then there is Halo the flood that took place during the first game but expanded on the personnel there as well as other characters. It also show some things from the Covenant side which was fascinating. Then there was the return of Mr. Eric Nylund who did first strike. This was one of my favorite book in the early lore days since its bridges the gap between halo 1 and halo 2 and you get to see how the Master Chief escape and got back to Earth. He continue on with Contact Harvest which explore how the war between the humans and the covenant got started. However what made Halo great was its story with the great grand opera it was in and how it got to connect with people. In college, I actually wrote a paper in my communication class describing the impact of Halo. I said that one of the thing that connected so many to this character was the fact that this was the fantasy of being able to be the one to save the day. The early game made Master chief so little words that you got to feel as you were saving the universe and it was great. Its amazing how much its grown. I read a bunch of their books since I love to read and they have had some many games, live action short films as you saw, board games, and even some role playing games all set in the universe. They had a a great marketing campaign and while I agree with other that halo 5 story did disappoint, the marketing campaign was top notch. The tag line of hunt the truth they made in a audio format series with two season and was great how they really got you engage in the universe. While ultimately it was disappointing how the story got, I feel confident in the newest one to get back to its roots. Halo wars was great as it was originally envisioned as a strategy game for halo and got turned into one full circle and the first and second one was great. I love the story of the banished and how they are the great new threat. Thanks for your reaction and as you can see I a big fan of halo since it was such a part of my childhood and so fun to play.
The sparknotes for what happened with Cortana: Cortana got too old for an AI and started fracturing. The cortana in halo 5 is a fracture, and she is corrupted on a power trip and is completely obsessed with The Master Chief. At the end of halo 5, she pulls an army of those “guardians” (the big thing that came out of the desert in the one trailer) and tries to enslave mankind because she believes that AI are superior. She also recruited an army of AI because her insane version found a cure for the aging of AI, called rampancy.
Very well said without spoiling much of the story. Short and concise. This is one of those exceptions where briefly telling the ending is necessary to explain something.
The first halo I played was 3 odst and I always go back to it every now and again to see how much better I get at it! (The soundtrack on it is sooo good some good orchestral/noir jazz stuff

While I'll always be a Doom fan first and foremost, halo is a close second for the greatest FPS of all time in my opinion. Can never go wrong with some Halo.
I have said it before and I say it again, the ammount of effort they put into the commercial campaign for halo 3 was beyond anything I have seen. The props, the live action trailers, the orchestras. It was a golden age for video games
I can think of a couple trailers and particularly a few cutscenes that I wish this montage included just to give you more context and hype with each game, especially about the Flood, Forerunners and the Human-Elite's union. Regardless, was nice to watch you two enjoy my favourite gaming franchise :)

Thankfully the community unanimously agreed they need to over haul the progression system so hopefully we’ll see a change soon.
One of the best trailers out there in my eyes is the Tv spot for Halo:Reach - Deliver hope. The music, the cinematography, the action! That is for me without a doubt one of the best trailers made for halo! Kinda shocked it didnt maky your video! Remember Reach!
Little backstory about the first Spartans. Before humanity had contact with the Covenant, Earth's colonies were starting to develop insurrections and ONI (the intelligence and black ops division of Earth's military) decided to develop in secret a new type of soldier that could put down hot spots quickly and quietly. They abducted large groups of children and trained them to be the ultimate soldiers. When they were old enough, the candidates underwent extreme surgeries. Their bones were reinforced with extremely durable plating, and they were subjected to genetic modification to make them bigger and several times stronger than the average human. Those that survived the surgeries were given Mjolnir armor suits that further enhanced their strength and durability. Master Chief was one of the first Spartans and quickly rose to become one of the best. When humanity made first contact with the Covenant, it quickly became clear that a new kind of weapon would be needed to fight them. So by sheer luck, the Spartans were made just in time to lead the fight.
As a person whose played only Halo side games, like ODST and Reach, I can say they are great. If you ever want to listen to a soundtrack to go to sleep, play ODST's track with the rain still in. It's so relaxing it's almost mediative, while still holding to the atmosphere. As for Reach. Well, the game is great! Though if you know the story of reach, the games events aren't too much of a spoiler or a surprise. But, it does have a good amount of emotion to it that tugs just right.

I just kept getting side games and never owned a game where you play as masterchief, ya know, as gifts (Plus for ODST, Nathan Filion, or how ever you spelt it, was a character and he was one of my sister's favorite actors so ya know), to the point I am more so doing it out of reputation more then intent. I'm not the biggest Halo fanboy, but I've always been very impressed with the quality of the trailer and marketing for the games, they really elevated it to something else. I would, like others, suggest checking out the "Halo 3: Believe" ad campaign, there is at least one video where all the ads are collected. I'd also heartily recommend the Halo: ODST Live Action Trailer, Halo Reach Deliver Hope, and the Halo Reach Making of a Spartan Live Action trailer. Both of these are great pieces of short film in themselves, imho. Lastly, I'll recommend the CGI Prologue Trailer for Halo 4, where Dr. Halsey, the lady who basically invented the Spartans, gets interrogated about some of the, uh, "moral ramifications" of abducting children and brainwashing them to become super-soldiers.
Fun fact: Sgt Avery Johnson (The AA you see often in the earlier halos) is a SPARTAN-1 ! Alot of fans of the series don't even know this! Spartan-1's had kids that were born with the augmentations from the spartan program and needed shots frequently to stay alive, they were called SPARTAN-1.1's If you realllllyyyy wanna dive into the story of Halo even more. Pick up the books! I'm not a big reader and they were a series that I couldn't put down from beginning to end.
First time through, it's generally recommended to play them in release order. Halo CE (1), 2, 3, ODST, 4, 5, Infinite. Halo Wars 1/2 are strategy games, they're still great games but very different in gameplay from the rest, and take place before everything (HW1) and after 5 (HW2). Halo War 2 also introduces The Banished, the seeming antagonist for Halo Infinite. If you play them chronologically, it would go Halo Wars 1, Halo CE, 2, ODST (it's a spin-off that takes place on Earth during the events of Halo 2 and 3), 3, 4, 5, Halo Wars 2, and Infinite.
We will probably do them in order of release but skip the Halo wars and just watch any cutscenes for those and 5 since 5 isn’t couch coop and that is just criminal 😢😤

halo is a game that i had the most restarts. more than dark souls. not cuz i kept dying, but cuz marines kept dying and i kept reloading the game in order to make sure every single one survived. usually in a game, whenever an npc that fights along u dies, it means theyre expendable and not important. but for some reason, the marines that fight alongside u against aliens twice their size were not expendable to my eyes, and i would feel bad whenever one of em would die OORAH!

When you see the backstory of master chief in the Spartan twos, they are augmented so that their suits don’t break their bones, that’s why they’re all cut up

The reason why that girl got taller when she became a Spartan is because Spartans undergo augmentations that make them taller and stronger. Their armor weighs several tons if I recall correctly. During the Human-Covenant War it was a dangerous process to undergo and it wasn't exactly done in a moral way. After the war, they made the process safer so becoming a Spartan became similar to something like joining the Navy SEALs or Delta Force.
So, what you saw in the Halo 4 Scanned trailer was a brief synopsis of the history of Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and the 74 other Spartan-IIs. Kidnapped from their homes and replaced by doomed to die flash clones at the age of 6 back in 2517, they were conscripted and indoctrinated into the UNSC military to become supersoldiers to combat human rebellion amongst the colonies. In 2525, at 14, they went through physical and chemical augmentations, a process that killed half of them. That same year, the Covenant appeared, and the Spartan-IIs were pressed into service a bit ahead of schedule. From there, they saw some of the most brutal campaigns of the entire 27 year long war. By the time it was all over, John, the Master Chief, was presumed the only remaining Spartan-II, though a small handful have popped up in the years since the end of the war. By the time of Halo 4, the UNSC has moved on to the far more ethical Spartan-IV Program, which recruits from the existing military. These are the Spartan recruits you see in the Halo Infinite Multiplayer Intro. Such as the Office of Naval Intelligence covertly attempting genocide and fueling civil war amongst the Elites between the events of Halo 3 and 4 all while the UNSC proper and humanity at large were technically allies with them. If you read the books, you’ll very quickly realize ONI are the biggest bad guys in the entire franchise, and they’re technically on your side.

I think all the Halo games in the Master Chief Collection are great, if you like the trailers you should try them since they are all playable in splitscreen!
Halo 5 is the only game that's just meh, and it doesn't even have splitscreen.
Luckily Halo Infinite seems to be great and I can't wait for the campaign!

The halo landfall trailer was so good because Neil Blomkam was one of the directors on it. He mentioned it during his podcast with Joe Rogan. Apparently he was injured on set when he cut his hand open on the turret of the warthog.
This was such a great reaction and so much history. I love the halo games and lore so much. For the games, my friends and I used to host halo parties where we would have our xbox all hooked up to each other and play each other in full 16 players matches. We would all be shouting having a good time. Its was such an fun time where we all try different modes and full of chaos.
For the lore though, Halo has been my favorite lore and how deep it gets. There is three books that are great. The first one is called Fall of reach by Eric Nylund that really describe the Master Chief background and how he became a Spartan. No spoilers, but its pretty messed up on the process which they show hints of in some of the in trailers. It also explain what Reach was and how important in the system. Then there is Halo the flood that took place during the first game but expanded on the personnel there as well as other characters. It also show some things from the Covenant side which was fascinating. Then there was the return of Mr. Eric Nylund who did first strike. This was one of my favorite book in the early lore days since its bridges the gap between halo 1 and halo 2 and you get to see how the Master Chief escape and got back to Earth. He continue on with Contact Harvest which explore how the war between the humans and the covenant got started.
However what made Halo great was its story with the great grand opera it was in and how it got to connect with people. In college, I actually wrote a paper in my communication class describing the impact of Halo. I said that one of the thing that connected so many to this character was the fact that this was the fantasy of being able to be the one to save the day. The early game made Master chief so little words that you got to feel as you were saving the universe and it was great.
Its amazing how much its grown. I read a bunch of their books since I love to read and they have had some many games, live action short films as you saw, board games, and even some role playing games all set in the universe.
They had a a great marketing campaign and while I agree with other that halo 5 story did disappoint, the marketing campaign was top notch. The tag line of hunt the truth they made in a audio format series with two season and was great how they really got you engage in the universe. While ultimately it was disappointing how the story got, I feel confident in the newest one to get back to its roots.
Halo wars was great as it was originally envisioned as a strategy game for halo and got turned into one full circle and the first and second one was great. I love the story of the banished and how they are the great new threat.

The sparknotes for what happened with Cortana:
Cortana got too old for an AI and started fracturing. The cortana in halo 5 is a fracture, and she is corrupted on a power trip and is completely obsessed with The Master Chief. At the end of halo 5, she pulls an army of those “guardians” (the big thing that came out of the desert in the one trailer) and tries to enslave mankind because she believes that AI are superior. She also recruited an army of AI because her insane version found a cure for the aging of AI, called rampancy.

I have said it before and I say it again, the ammount of effort they put into the commercial campaign for halo 3 was beyond anything I have seen. The props, the live action trailers, the orchestras. It was a golden age for video games

Thankfully the community unanimously agreed they need to over haul the progression system so hopefully we’ll see a change soon.

Little backstory about the first Spartans. Before humanity had contact with the Covenant, Earth's colonies were starting to develop insurrections and ONI (the intelligence and black ops division of Earth's military) decided to develop in secret a new type of soldier that could put down hot spots quickly and quietly. They abducted large groups of children and trained them to be the ultimate soldiers. When they were old enough, the candidates underwent extreme surgeries. Their bones were reinforced with extremely durable plating, and they were subjected to genetic modification to make them bigger and several times stronger than the average human. Those that survived the surgeries were given Mjolnir armor suits that further enhanced their strength and durability. Master Chief was one of the first Spartans and quickly rose to become one of the best. When humanity made first contact with the Covenant, it quickly became clear that a new kind of weapon would be needed to fight them. So by sheer luck, the Spartans were made just in time to lead the fight.

As a person whose played only Halo side games, like ODST and Reach, I can say they are great. If you ever want to listen to a soundtrack to go to sleep, play ODST's track with the rain still in. It's so relaxing it's almost mediative, while still holding to the atmosphere. As for Reach. Well, the game is great! Though if you know the story of reach, the games events aren't too much of a spoiler or a surprise. But, it does have a good amount of emotion to it that tugs just right.

I just kept getting side games and never owned a game where you play as masterchief, ya know, as gifts (Plus for ODST, Nathan Filion, or how ever you spelt it, was a character and he was one of my sister's favorite actors so ya know), to the point I am more so doing it out of reputation more then intent. I'm not the biggest Halo fanboy, but I've always been very impressed with the quality of the trailer and marketing for the games, they really elevated it to something else. I would, like others, suggest checking out the "Halo 3: Believe" ad campaign, there is at least one video where all the ads are collected. I'd also heartily recommend the Halo: ODST Live Action Trailer, Halo Reach Deliver Hope, and the Halo Reach Making of a Spartan Live Action trailer. Both of these are great pieces of short film in themselves, imho. Lastly, I'll recommend the CGI Prologue Trailer for Halo 4, where Dr. Halsey, the lady who basically invented the Spartans, gets interrogated about some of the, uh, "moral ramifications" of abducting children and brainwashing them to become super-soldiers.

Fun fact: Sgt Avery Johnson (The AA you see often in the earlier halos) is a SPARTAN-1 ! Alot of fans of the series don't even know this! Spartan-1's had kids that were born with the augmentations from the spartan program and needed shots frequently to stay alive, they were called SPARTAN-1.1's
If you realllllyyyy wanna dive into the story of Halo even more. Pick up the books! I'm not a big reader and they were a series that I couldn't put down from beginning to end.

First time through, it's generally recommended to play them in release order. Halo CE (1), 2, 3, ODST, 4, 5, Infinite. Halo Wars 1/2 are strategy games, they're still great games but very different in gameplay from the rest, and take place before everything (HW1) and after 5 (HW2). Halo War 2 also introduces The Banished, the seeming antagonist for Halo Infinite.
If you play them chronologically, it would go Halo Wars 1, Halo CE, 2, ODST (it's a spin-off that takes place on Earth during the events of Halo 2 and 3), 3, 4, 5, Halo Wars 2, and Infinite.
We will probably do them in order of release but skip the Halo wars and just watch any cutscenes for those and 5 since 5 isn’t couch coop and that is just criminal 😢😤
I like to have people play ODST before H3 considering they use the same engine and ODST takes place first, but otherwise I agree.

halo is a game that i had the most restarts. more than dark souls. not cuz i kept dying, but cuz marines kept dying and i kept reloading the game in order to make sure every single one survived. usually in a game, whenever an npc that fights along u dies, it means theyre expendable and not important. but for some reason, the marines that fight alongside u against aliens twice their size were not expendable to my eyes, and i would feel bad whenever one of em would die

The trailer she liked was for halo 3 and was ment as pilot teaser for the Halo movie back then. I guess it was made by Steven Spielberg. But the whole movie was scratched and we got District 9 instead with a lot of props made originally for this landfall trailer

The reason why that girl got taller when she became a Spartan is because Spartans undergo augmentations that make them taller and stronger. Their armor weighs several tons if I recall correctly.
During the Human-Covenant War it was a dangerous process to undergo and it wasn't exactly done in a moral way. After the war, they made the process safer so becoming a Spartan became similar to something like joining the Navy SEALs or Delta Force.

So, what you saw in the Halo 4 Scanned trailer was a brief synopsis of the history of Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and the 74 other Spartan-IIs. Kidnapped from their homes and replaced by doomed to die flash clones at the age of 6 back in 2517, they were conscripted and indoctrinated into the UNSC military to become supersoldiers to combat human rebellion amongst the colonies. In 2525, at 14, they went through physical and chemical augmentations, a process that killed half of them. That same year, the Covenant appeared, and the Spartan-IIs were pressed into service a bit ahead of schedule. From there, they saw some of the most brutal campaigns of the entire 27 year long war. By the time it was all over, John, the Master Chief, was presumed the only remaining Spartan-II, though a small handful have popped up in the years since the end of the war. By the time of Halo 4, the UNSC has moved on to the far more ethical Spartan-IV Program, which recruits from the existing military. These are the Spartan recruits you see in the Halo Infinite Multiplayer Intro. In between those two were the Spartan-IIIs, who were essentially child suicide soldiers sent deep behind enemy lines to buy humanity time in exchange for their lives.

Such as the Office of Naval Intelligence covertly attempting genocide and fueling civil war amongst the Elites between the events of Halo 3 and 4 all while the UNSC proper and humanity at large were technically allies with them. If you read the books, you’ll very quickly realize ONI are the biggest bad guys in the entire franchise, and they’re technically on your side.
