Who's your favorite Transformer? Soundwave has to be ours!!
Soundwave superior
Tossup between Soundwave and Whirl. I had Whirl and I alway kept him as a helicopter because I loved Airwolf and helicopters in general.
I was a Shockwave and Soundwave fan. Blaster and Ratchet were always fun as well.
Hot Rod
In this movie I have to say Kup, but in general it’s most likely Bulkhead. (He’s only in shows and comics)
Part of the greatness of this movie that’s often overlooked is Vince DiCola’s synth score. Still the greatest Transformers movie ever by a long shot
Vince blew it out of the park! He had previously done the Rocky 4 score (another amazing score!!!). When season 3 of the cartoon came out it would heavily utilize the new themes created by Vince.
Vince would always be my ideal transformers soundtrack maker
Agreed. Bumblebee is right behind for me. It has a warm emotional center that's almost unheard of in the Bayverse.
I loved it when things like the Autobot City Battle score showed up on GI Joe later. It was a phenomenal addition to both Franchises.
he blew it way further when he worked in Angry birds transformers, the soundtrack went god tier@@brockbaby
I love that they were so engrossed in the animation and action that they didn't even process that there was a fight going on set to a Weird Al song.
And they didn't notice Eric Idle yelling "Monty!" (he's from Monty Python), which is more surprising because he voiced a lot of Terry Gilliam's animated sequences too).
@@a-blivvy-yusI love the double meaning in that too. "Don't look behind door number 2 Monty!" is a reference to the Monty Hall scenario.
@@WombatMan64 Thanks, now I feel dumb for missing that xD Not sure how I didn't realise the second meaning in there...
@@a-blivvy-yus We all miss things. It took me until last week to realise that "Mediterranean Sea" means "Sea in the middle of the Earth"; because of course it does!
@@WombatMan64 Thanks! And yeah, that's an interesting one (I spotted it while studying Latin, got extra credit for asking the teacher about it)
Many Transformer fans probably know this by now, but the death of Optimus Prime DEVASTATED young fans back when this movie came out in 1986. In fact, children were leaving the theater in tears because they watched their hero die on the big screen. Some of them were so upset, they hid in their closets and under their beds and just wouldn't come out. It got so bad that parents all around made a bunch of noise, so Hasbro got to work and brought Prime back for a few more episodes.
For Hasbro, cartoons like Transformers G1 were just giant commercials for their toylines. But for the fans... it was more. So much more. And it still is.
I grew up with this movie and series. 38 and his death in this STILL gets to me.
Duke in the GI Joe movie at the time was also supposed to die but the backlash from Optimus' death made Hasbro change it to him being in a Coma.
yes, and thats why they revive Optimus in S4 of the series...poor dude cant get a rest in ANY continuity..always getting killed off and brought back.
I cried so hard back then. Especially when they killed him off and everyone else like Ironhide, etc to make way for new toys. Ugh 😩
At least Prime had a great death scene that felt earned, basically going out like Boromir. Many other autobots had unceremonious deaths...
The soundtrack to this movie is just pure 80's hair metal. It's awesome.
The film itself was a PG in theatres simply because Spike says "Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?". The line was there purely to get the PG rating as PG films got more showings than U films, which is what cartoon movies used to be rated - the line was cut for the VHS home release and so the film was re-rated as U.
Also, the execs saw this film as just a way to refresh the product which is why so many of the season 1/2 characters get murdered. The trouble is, the kids who were fans were really attached to the characters, especially Prime, so this film devastated the fanbase too.
Yes, that curse was so unnecessary. I too didn't like the deaths of the '84 characters. The comics followed suit. In fact, the only media that had the '86 and '84 characters interact regularly were the colouring books (I still have the Lost Treasure one where Starscream eats all the energon and then wrestles with Galavatron)
Well it was purely to get the PG rating so that they would get more showings in cinemas as PG films were shown more than U films. @@SJHFoto
@@weirds0up I know. It just shows how this twisted world rewards wickedness
They were motivated to sell toys whereas I thought it was incredibly cool that this movie had the balls to kill off characters. I think I was slightly older than the kids who cried for Optimus.
PTSD y'all.
Don't forget, this is effectively the finale of Season 2 of the original cartoon.
Optimus has been alive for a LONG time by this point.
They didn't kill him off quick in an overall sense. Just in this movie specifically.
Very good point. We need to remember this film represents a milestone shift and change in TF history and canon. Which if u really think about it, it made sense that the events in this movie were made and told in a feature film instead of part of just another 2 part episode from the series. Therefore such a huge change and shift in the transformers history for the autobots and decepticons was such a epic and iconic moment in their history that it deserved to be told in a feature film.
Every King has it’s reign, then he dies. Optimus and his time as commander had lasted millions of years, even before the actual beginning of the Transformers original series. He was a historic and deemed as the most iconic and respected Autobot Leader of all the time. But a new generation, a more advanced future had come since the events of the season 2 finale.
Thus a new and more advanced generation of Transformers were needed to take their story to the next level.
There is an episode where the then-new Aerialbots, who were ambivalent ablut the war, wit 4 of the 5 actively desiringvpeace with Megatron, get sent back in time 9 million years on Cybertron and meet Orion Pax, Optimus's former self, who actually worshipped Megatron, until he is betrayed snd almost killed. Its the Ariallbots who carry Orion Pax to Alpha Trion, wno rebuilds him as Optimus Prime. Alpha Trion is last seen mulling over rebuilding Orio's girlfriend, Ariel, and muses on the name Alita One. Dion, Orion's best friend, is also rebuilt into Prime's brother, Ultra Magnus.
As a result of witnessing Megatron callously use and discard Orion, the Arielbots become enraged and full-heartedly join the Autobot side, just as they find a wsy to return to their notmal time.
In the close of the episode, Prime belatedly remembers the Aerialbots had been seen in his distant past. Ratchet demands to know the joke. "It all started 9 million years ago.." Prime narrates. Ratchet, exasoerated,, mutters "Great, its going to be one of those *long* stories."
So Prime, as his current self, is 9 million years old. Its not known how old Orion Pax was, and some continuities hold Prime was billions of years old as one of the 13 Primes before going through a Jesus arc, choosing to be born as Orion, a common Cybertron dockworker, befire being slain to rise again, ss a Prime once more, the last Prime.
@@MGower4465 Magnum was rebuilt into Ultra Magnus.
There weren't enough parts left of Dion to rebuild him into a super robot like the others.
Hasbro/Takara confirmed that Dion was never rebuilt into any other robot. He's just dead.
Although I suspect Dion's leftover bits were used to build Huffer.
Like maybe there wasn't enough left of him to build a big super robot like Optimus, and Ultra Magnus, but there could've been enough to rebuild him as a little grumpy helper guy for Optimus - a tiny truck guy who can haul Optimus' trailer and stuff.
He pretty much stayed dead for most of the 3rd season of the show.
Even independent of the show, we're all pretty familiar with a War Story, and killing off the generals is always an interesting complication. TF:TM did it as a first act inciting incident rather than as a third act complication, though, which is really rather novel and interesting because now you have two groups who are still fighting even though those responsible for the conflict aren't even on the board anymore.
Now imagine being 6 in 1984, watching Transformers for a couple years and kind of developing love for some of these characters and then you go to the movie in 1986 and seeing this movie unfold like it did. These extreme fights and losses were not a part of the cartoon series. So we were all in shock in the theaters. There were tears. It was a crazy time.
I watched an anime based on Transformers, and even though the main characters didn’t die, very often civilians died. But yes, I did not expect while watching the film that familiar characters would die. The truth is how they died... Like they fought for a long time and then they died from the magnificence of Optimus Prime and the power of Megatron.
I was in the theater loving it. It felt like they were treating the material seriously and made one awesome movie, where the stakes were high.
I honestly love the first meeting between Unicron and Megatron, because it's exactly how you'd expect two of the largest egos in the universe meeting to go
Right, Megatron is super infinitesimal in comparison to the massive planet eating monster, yet he still acts arrogant in his presence.
I dont see unicron as having an ego as in just knowing.. Unicron relied on others to do the job which was his weakness
@@KrGsMrNKusinagi0 Unicron relied on others because he knew that he wasn't safe in the presence of an Autobot leader who was in possession of the matrix. He needed an agent to deal with it for him, and overestimated his agent(s) / underestimated the Autobots. Possibly a sign that he was desperate, he was unaware of the matrix's location or possibly even it's continued existence, until Hot Rod grabs it as it's falling from Prime's hand. When Hot Rod grabs it, and it activates, the surge of energy it released was like a lighthouse beacon across the cosmos, something Unicron couldn't help but notice and recognize as the threat it was. Fact is, he might not have ever been able to find a good candidate to do the job. Or perhaps he just anticipated not having enough time to move more carefully on the objective. Someone like Shockwave, or Soundwave might have been a better catspaw to use, instead of Megatron. But getting either of them into a precarious enough situation as Megatron was, where he could leverage their will against their will to survive, would likely have taken more time than he calculated he would have, to deal with the threat of the Matrix.
Nobody summons Megatron!
@@KrGsMrNKusinagi0. He's basically the galactus of transformers!
I saw this movie in theaters when I was 5. I am 43 now. And every time I see Optimus transform in that scene, I still get super emotional, like a 5 year old.
Liar! You were 6. 😜
@@whistlerwade actually I probably was. I thought the movie came out in 85.
The was and remains to this day the hero entrance to end all hero entrances. Captain America can keep his "to your left" nonsense...... Optimus Prime single handedly turned the tide of the battle "no matter the cost" (as 6 year old me found out in the cinema a few mins later to my horror!).
This was Orson Welles' last film as an actor, as he passed away a year before the films release. He voiced Unicron. 1915-1985.
It was also Scatman Crothers' last film as well. He voiced Jazz. 1910-1986.
Actually, he perished a few days after recording his lines
Scatman Crothers will always be Jazz to me. He brought SO MUCH personality to that character. Fun fact, in the third season of the show there was a race that Blurr was supposed to win but in tribute to Scatman, Jazz won the race.

One of the fandom toxic traits (in my opinion) is that so many people blame Hot Rod for Optimus' death. I love that you two were like "it's not his fault"!
It's toxic not to blame hot rod.. hot rods immature reactions put prime in danger when he was ready for Megatron to go for the cheap shot.. what prime wasn't ready for was hot rod doing something on Joe Biden levels of stupid.

@@Blastercadre I still watch it at least once almost every year. :) Seen it in the theater twice back in the day as a little lad.
same
And like us real transformers fans was mad as hell at Hot Rod for getting Prime killed.😂😂😂
My 5 year old luvs it, watches it every few weeks. I wish more young people could experience the original transformers.
In regards to the scene with Astrotrain and the fight inside him, with the constructicons, there is a thing most all transformers have is called Mass Shifting. That’s how Megatron can reduce to a gun size. It’s pretty cool.
Ohhhh ok
LOL and how Reflector can transform from three massive robots into a single tiny handheld camera...
I always understood it was just a case of, "Yeah, they do that. Don't question it." Interesting that there's an explanation of some sort.
@@RedBlitzen it was something discussed when we were kids and then I read an article back when the 2007 movie came out. It asked the question of “ if the bayverse transformers and their alt modes are based upon their size, then explain why in the original cartoon series Megatron can go from a massive robot to a much smaller gun, or how Soundwave can got from thirty feet tall to a 4x6 cassette player.” The simple and most straightforward answer was mass shifting. It’s an evolutionary feature of the cybertronian races have after literal eons of existence and war.
Or in layman's terms, scale does not exist, characters are always as big as they need to be for any given scene.
This movie literally taught me about death. I was 8 years old in 1986 and had not so much as lost a gold fish, let alone a grandparent. Optimus dies and I was utterly broken. I locked myself in my room and cried for hours after I saw the movie.
Yeah, I was wrecked. When I met Peter at a con last month I was like, "yup, I was one of those crying kids in 86."
@@JnEricsonx That's very cool. I bet he gets that a lot :)
@@jonrazo7912 Hell, apparently he himself didn't realize the impact.
We all liked the deaths as kids, even Prime dying. What made us cry was his role being taken over by HotRodimus, lol. 😂
This movie was probably my first "spoiler" because I didn't get to see it until it released on VHS but a few of my friends already had the Galvatron and Rodmus Prime action figures, so once I saw Galvatron I already knew that Hot Rod would also become Rodmus before the end, was still cool though, but I remember being so disappointed that the reveal was ruined for me...
"I can't even imagine being a kid in the 80's watching this. That would just be the coolest thing ever" I was one of those kids who saw this movie in the theater...and yes, it freaking was. Really enjoyed your reaction to this classic!
Should try doing it with one of the newer VR headsets for the full theater experience again.
(I was a bit more specific with my suggestion and my comment got auto-deleted. lol)
Lucky dude you are 💯
@@Leto2ndAtreidesI'll second this. Streaming the movie via Virtual Desktop to my Quest 3 is a good time (though have to say I prefer mixed reality, not necessarily a virtual cinema).
One of my favourite lines is
“I galvatron will crush you the same way megatron crushed prime”
“And You’ll die trying, just like Megatron!”
they really captured the defiance and optimism of the Autobots
I love " I would've waited an eternity for this" and "No more Optimus Prime, grant me mercy I beg of you - You who go without mercy, no plead for it, I thought you were made of sterner stuff."
"Ive got better things to do tonight than die." Hardest line in the movie IMO
"...proceed...on your way to oblivion."
Most of Unicron's dialog is simply epic.
Who disrupts my coronation!!?
That's exactly why I root for the Autobots over the Decepticons; they are basically a resistance, and usually one that is losing badly at the start of any Transformers story. The Decepticons tend to be more numerous, more heavily armed, and larger, but the Autobots win by wit and by grit, and by working together while the Decepticons squabble.
And thats why it's harder for me to root for Megatron than it is for Skeletor or Cobra Commander or the like.
The Dinobots are among the most popular Transformers, but they're also kinda loose cannons at times. The original Dinobots were Grimlock the T-Rex, Snarl the Stegosaurus, Slag/Slug the Triceratops, Sludge the Brontosaurus, Swoop the Pteranodon, and Paddles the Plesiosaurus. Then the Michael Bay films expanded the Dinobot roster to include Stomp the Brachiosaurus, Slash the Velociraptor, and Scorn the Spinosaurus.
Paddles was added by the Legends Anthology.
In the G1 Show, Jazz created Grimlock, snarl, and Sludge and they were even dumber. Jazz had to upgrade their intelligence and added Swoop and Slag. (Slag might have been in the first batch).
In the Marvel comics continuity(created about the same time), they were created by the Ark(the Autobot ship that first brought the Autobots to earth, about 4 Million years ago. Shockwave showed up, and the Ark built them to fight him off, but they got caught in a tar pit, and just sat around 4 million years until Rachet found and fixed them up.
@@ThePorpoisepower Wasn't it Wheeljack and Rachet who created them? That would make a lot more sense then Jazz. I remember when they first came out and they were sooo cool. Couldn't get enough of them.
@@ThePorpoisepowerit was Ratchet and WheelJack. And the then Chip Chase helped them make Snarl and Swoop.
Is it just me, or did somebody else always wanted a Dinobot Combiner? I know, the Autobots had a few but i think, none of them was really strong enough to take on Devastator in a 1 vs 1 fight
@@Anthyrion I'd always thought a Dinobot combiner would be pretty sweet (and we got one, Volcanicus, along with new Dinobots Skarr and Slash), but in G1 it was also kinda cool how the Dinobots were the answer to Devastator _without_ having to combine.
Wish they did more with Grimlock's leadership ambitions in season 3, I think that would've been a good dynamic with Rodimus. S1 and S2 Grimlock was very much a "Might Makes Right" sort of anti-hero who clashed with Optimus on the regular over who should really lead, because Grimlock was legit stronger than Optimus but not as intelligent.
Unicron was voiced by Orson Welles, and I love that so much. He was in damn near everything for a while in the 20th Century. But most people know him from _Citizen Kane._ Same goes for Galvatron voiced by Leonard Nimoy, His first day of recording, he showed up an hour early to warm up by doing vocal scales in the men's room.

I literally wore my VHS tapes of this, Mrs. Doubtfire, Hook, and Tombstone out as a kid 🤣
This movie is so much better than we deserved and way ahead of it's time. Prime's death was absolutely devastating (no pun intended), but you couldn't help but obsess over the awesome animation and soundtrack.
I saw it in the theater when I was 10 and I cried, but I also went back a half dozen times to watch it again. As much as people decry to death of Optimus Prime and other characters, it wouldn't be half the movie with out this.
Then, maybe you should've invested in a Betamax, heard it wears out mutch slower, and appearently those machines don't eat the tape!
You have to understand, the TV show was made as a 30 minute toy commercial. The producers made the movie as a way of clearing the deck of all the old toys that everyone already owned and introducing a bunch of new ones. They didn't realize that kids were attached to Optimus Prime and the others as characters until they got reports of kids crying in the theaters. There was a huge backlash against the movie by parents, which forced the company to resurrect Optimus Prime in the next TV season, and to make changes to the GI Joe movie which had been going to do the same thing.
BTW, the reason it looks like anime is that the animation was outsourced to Japan.
It wasn't outsourced. Transformers was originally Japanese.
@@joegreene7619 The toys were Japanese. They actually belonged to several different toy lines that Hasbro combined together. Hasbro then produced comics and the cartoon series to give a backstory to the toys. The writing team was American with the animation outsourced to Japan.
To be honest I don't know who they were more upset to lose, Optimus Prime or Starscream? Either way they both had to come back by popular demand.
Shout out to all those who saw *Transformers: The Movie* in theaters back in 1986! That was an awesome experience.
I saw it twicee in theaters :3
I was 7 when it was on theaters and my parents didn't take me there. But I think I would have been devasted if I saw it as they killed off Optimus Prime.
Very gory for a kids cartoon.
and the PTSD that followed.🤣
That infamous "DIE AUTOBOTS" Scene had all us kids in the theater stuck in what the heck mode.
I can’t believe they don’t mention how good the music/songs were
Seeing this movie as a kid was so *thrilling.* The soundtrack the visuals, the story, all of it! And even after all this time, it's _still_ the best Transformers movie (for me). I'm so glad people are still discovering this gem for themselves!
I still have the soundtrack on cassette tape. :D
I remember seeing this at the Brementown Essenex Theatre in Tinley Park when I was 8. My dad took me on a Saturday afternoon and wasn’t very thrilled but got interested after he saw the voice cast in the opening credits. I showed it to my kids a few years ago and they enjoyed it too!
This is the epoch of 80’s childhood right here
Japanese animation in the 80’s was unreal. The amount of the detail and shading put into this was great.
Yet if you dare say modern anime is shit, you better watching out for the heavy breathing and the acktually from the weebs.
Honestly, I just love the idea that the reason Soundwave didn't stop Starscream from throwing Megatron out was because he knew he would be fine and that it would come back to bite Starscream *somehow*
It’s not like there wasn’t any precedent for that, even this early on in the franchise. 🤣
It's also worth noting that Screamer actually _wins_ the fight for leadership, and Megatron was too injured to fight back. Soundwave likely couldn't actually take Starscream.
Soundwave's loyalty to Megatron was always surface deep. His character profile depicts him as assuring his own power and position at the shoulder of Megatron, the power beside the thrown. However Soundwave would have seen the vote going the way it did and realised that Megatron's time was up and he would have wanted to protect himself in the eyes of Starscream.
I got a fact that's going to really blow your mind: When Starscream is throwing Megatron out of Astrotrain, Soundwave's visor is down and his eyes are covered so he doesn't see Megatron being tossed.
@@ToaArcan He won by hiding in a corner and declaring himself winner after Soundwave, Blitzwing, and the Constructions had all exhausted themselves.
I forgot JUST how much they used 'You've Got The Touch' in this, but it never fails to make me grin. It's so unabashedly cheesy and fun, an 80's power-ballad classic. Every kid watching this on release was grinning when relatively low-level character Hot Rod stands up and yeets Galvatron through the wall with that song blaring. You know it's coming but you still love to see it.
Still gives me the chills when I hear that song
To me Hunger is an underrated gem.
*WHAT!?* DID YOU GUYS NOT KNOW THAT TRANSFORMERS WAS ORIGINALLY AN ANIME!???*
Transformers is a JAPANESE creation! It started out as a toy line from Japanese toy company Takara (later merged with Tomy to become Takara-Tomy). Then it received a TV anime
**Technically* the "The Transformers" TV series and movie were American creations (and thus technically not an anime, as anime must be Japanese-made animation), intended for American audiences, and we just based on the toys that just came around in Japan. However, Toei Animation did a significant amount of animation, which is why it is widely accepted as a legitimate anime (especially considering its many, definitely 100% Japanese-made sequel series). In Japan, "The Transformers" was called "Tatakae! Chou Robot Seimeitai Transformers" ("Fight! Super Robot Life Form Transformers").
*1984-1987*
Tatakae! Chou Robot Seimeitai Transformers (Fight! Super Robot Life Form Transformers / The Transformers)
The original, Japanese-commissioned, American-made (with some Japanese animation) series.
*1986*
Transformers: Mokushiroku Matrix yo Eien ni (Transformers: Matrix Forever / The Transformers: The Movie)
Movie set between the 3rd and 4th seasons of the original series.
*1987-1988*
Transformers: The Headmasters
Japan-only sequel to the Japanese dub of the original series.
*1988-1989*
Transformers: Choujin Masterforce (Transformers: Super-God Masterforce)
Japan-only sequel to the Headmasters series.
*1989*
Tatakae! Chou Robot Seimeitai Transformers V (Fight! Super Robot Life Form Transformers Victory)
Japan-only sequel to the Masterforce series. This series also definitively marked the divide between the American "Transformers" franchise and the Japanese "Fight! Super Robot Life Form Transformers" franchise.

Transformers: Z (Transformers: Zone)
An OVA (Original Video Animation, aka. straight-to-DVD release) add-on to Victory. End of "Generation 1."
*1993-1995: Transformers: Generation 2*
Unlike G1, G2 didn't last long, and wasn't really a series. It was just a short-lived American comic book arc and Japanese toy line. It had a TV series, but it was actually just the original series with slight additions via CGI (which was VERY primitive at the time).
*1996-1999: Beast Wars: Transformers*
American-made sequel to the original The Transformers TV series.
*1999-2000: Beast Machines: Transformers*
American-made sequel to Beast Wars.
*2000-2001: Transformers: Car Robots (Transformers: Robots in Disguise)*
Japanese-made reboot of the Transformers franchise. Ultimately ended up as its own, isolated thing.
Received an English dub, but was HEAVILY censored (mostly due to featuring lots of cities being destroyed and its first episode airing three days before the 9/11 attacks).
*2002-2006: The Unicron Trilogy*
A Japanese-American co-production between Hasbro and Takara, serving as a new continuity/universe for Transformers, with no connection to any previous entries (including Cor Robots/Robots in Disguise, which uses the same designs). Galaxy Force/Cybertron is notable for being the last Japanese-produced Transformers entry until 2013's Transformers Go! series. Additionally, Galaxy Force/Cybertron was notable for using CGI Transformers on top of traditional 2D animation for backgrounds and non-Transformer characters.

*2020-2021: War for Cybertron Trilogy*
American-made web series, produced by Rooster Teeth, Netflix, and Hasbro.
*2022-Present: EarthSpark*
American-made web series produced by Nickelodeon.
If you want to collect some of the OLD Transformers toys, I strongly recommend you look for the Japanese "Diaclone" and "Micro Change" toys. They were the original toys that were re-labeled as Transformers toys for G1.
For example, the original Optimus Prime (Japanese: "Convoy") toy was a Diaclone "Battle Convoy" set. EXACT same toy, with the only change being the "DIACLONE" logo on the trailer being changed to the Transformers logo.
@freddycashbear2164 Wanted to explain the franchise's history and fell down a rabbit hole. I actually find myself doing that quite often. I like to educate people, I guess.
I suggested that they watch 2 videos from the channel Secret Galaxy to get good background info on the toys, the cartoon series and the movie. ua-cam.com/video/vgBK5-qMOyg/v-deo.htmlsi=Cta4ZgMDREWBniJK & ua-cam.com/video/9vvMTUUdLwg/v-deo.htmlsi=jjcd4_S35Cpxh3WK
@freddycashbear2164 Why not. 😁
Transformers is also an Aeni (sort of) because the episodes with the not-as-good animation quality (particularly season 3 and 4) were animated by Akom.
Overachiever.
"Megatron must be stopped, no matter the cost."
You got the touch! You got the poweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer! Yeah!
Favourite moment of the movie... Hotrods scene a clossse second ❤
Nice seeing new fans reactions to this movie.
I like you noticed how characterization of each character was important it's made character deaths waaay more impactful because your favorites weren't safe. I think ROTB is finally the first TF movie to get that right because outside of Prime EVERY literally felt like a prop, not even Muppet level sadly. This soundtrack was my childhood and visuals inspired my imagination
Thank your for the wonderful reaction. As a Gen-X, almost 50 year old 80’s kid who adored this franchise and this movie, watching you two react to this just brought back some warm nostalgic memories for me.
Me too! I was just saying that as well.
In this film, Arcee is a type of car that was really popular with women (have no clue what the model and make of the car was), but at some point in later incarnations, her form was changed to a motorcycle, and that became the vehicle mode she is most associated with (one of her best incarnations is in the show Transformers Prime).
Saw this in the theater as an 11 year old who was obsessed with Transformers. Still holds up pretty well...even if they did try to kill off Optimus Prime. Oh...and a side note on the Dinobots...if memory serves they technically weren't native Cybertronians, at least not based on their story in the original cartoon. Wheeljack creates them on Earth as a response to Devastator and needing more 'muscle' to deal with the Decepticon threat.
Wheeljack and Ratchet created the Dinobots after discovering fossilized dinosaur bones near the Ark, and while they were more powerful than normal Transformers, they were also quite independent and did NOT like taking orders from Optimus, so they kinda did their own thing and showed up when the Autobots basically begged for their help, which Grimlock would magnanimously provide once his ego was stroked enough lol
I loved Wheeljack as a character. Never had the toy, though I collected plenty, but he was great to see in action on the show.
@@lordmortarius538at first they just had the minds of feral beasts and had to be shut down till they could be fixed. Took two experiments to get the dinobots the intelligence and personalities they now have. Though, this is the cartoon. The original comic was a bit different.
By far the best reaction video I’ve seen out of dozens over the years. It doesn’t shock me that they would appreciate all of the things us old heads loved about this movie and franchise. I’m not ashamed to admit tears of joy watching their reactions. I was 6 in the summer of 86 and remember asking my Dad what “fatal” means during the Prime scene😭 😂
If you watch it with commentary the film makers were blindsided by the audience reaction to the death of Optimus. At the time the toy line was switching and they saw it purely as the older toys being phased out and the new ones coming in. They didn't think it would be as big a deal as it ended up being.
There are still some showrunners who think this way. It never occurred to them that killing a major character or a fan favorite would be such a big deal. They only think about money.
If you’re interested in why unicron is so afraid of the Matrix it’s because the Matrix contains the essence of Primus who is essentially The Creator God for the Transformers while Unicron is the God of Destruction for the Cybertronians. Essentially Primus and Unicron had fought each other since the beginning of the universe, but Primus devised a way to trick and defeat him basically trapping Unicron in an inanimate form which eventually became a planet and Unicron was able to roam around the Universe gathering energy by consuming planets. Primus realizing this would create the Cybertronians to fight against Unicron but eventually the factions would emerge and while the Autobots might still try to keep towards their original purpose to protect the universe, the Decepticons took a more aggressive approach. Also by the way Primus is Cybertron that is why Unicron wants to destroy it so badly. He essentially wants to kill his own brother
Sorry not correct for tv series that was the comic story the TV series is different they don't give backstory it just states the martix will kill him. Also in tv series they weren't created by primus
@@philfitnesspt6139 In this show, Primus did create them, just so long ago that it was forgotten while Alpha Trion ruled.
Alpha Trion ruled Cybertron when the Qunitessons first encountered it.
The resulting conflict killed thousands, and the Quintessons took the dead bodies back to Quintessa to rebuild them into Decepticons.
The Quintessons then sent them back to take the planet, and they succeeded. That conquering gave rise to the next generation of Autobots, lead by Optimus Prime eventually.
One clue to this truth in the show itself, is the Decepticons have to refine the Cybertronian energon cubes to ingest it, while the Autobots do not.
While on Earth, both sides have to do it.
Both Galvatron and Rodimus Prime crash again on Quintessa in the show, and the Autobots learn they have to refine the Quintessan energon cubes, while the Decepticons do not.
This is revealed in season 4 of the show when Optimus Prime returns fully to save everyone from an energy that corrupts all of the factions.
One of the steps is to restore Prime. To so, because of corrupted information they seek a Quntessan leader, and they find out that with Prime, it is learned that the Autobots are totally unique to their technology, and the leader cannot do it. The Decepticons originating on Cybertron was a lie told by Megatron, as a means to capture Cybertron easier.
In the original cartoon they do kind of explain it in season 3 after the movie. ua-cam.com/users/clipUgkxIDyhPXyUbajr3Dvp6VI94XzwW0kFdHvG?si=y2yd9Dems-zL1Ih_ Quintisons created cybertron and the transformers as product line slave robots. Autobots commercial and decepticons military hardware. The designed a.i. so the machines could build themselves but they became sentient and rebelled. The matrix reveals this to rodimus prime because the matrix is the accumulated knowledge of all autobot leaders so in essence a copy of optimus is inside the matrix. ua-cam.com/users/clipUgkxi0rqHQtQARbhuSX4JXW0q5tzTFNbW3Xr?si=RmzQddsvSOX9VMf2 Unicron was built by some genius alien and unicron turned on him and left. The alien had a lab assistant and it isn't said but the animation shows the matrix flying off from the lab implying that the matrix was built as an accumulation of knowledge lab assistant for the alien that then found the autobots and became symbiotic with accumulating their knowledge. Unicron likely feared the matrix because it likely knew the alien creator's self destruct code built into unicron.
@@shauntempley9757no in g1 cartoon primus does not exist and is never mentioned. Info is listed on transfomers fan site. Copied it below for you. Your getting mixed up with the comics which is understandable.
'As far as the origin of the Cybertronians go, there are two confusingly different ones.
In the Generation1 continuity, the Quintessons made Cybertronian into a factory planet. They made two types of robot servants: the factory workers (Autobots), and the security/military (Deceptions). As these robots were designed to be more and more intelligent, they evolved sentience and emotion, turning against their oppressive creators. In this continuity, there apparently is no Primus (which brings up way too many questions to cover now). Instead, at the core of Cybertronian is a sentient computer known as Vector Sigma. It has the ability to bring machines to life, granting them sentience and personality. But since Vector Sigma wasn’t introduced until about season 4, exact details of how new Cybertronians are born/built are a bit muddled.'
Ps the above is slightly incorrect vector sigma was introduced in s.2.
If we're going by the G1 canon, Unicron and several other "primitives" were created by the alien scientist Primacron.
Peter Cullen (Prime), Frank Welker (Megatron) and Chris Latta (Starscream). Soundtrack of my childhood. RIP Chris Latta, gone far too soon!
As a 43 year old who saw this as a kid, watching these youngsters get emotionally invested for all the right reasons gives me hope for the creatives of the future.
I grew up with Transformers and it will always be my favorite toyline. I’m still to this day collecting them and I’m 47 now :) The toylines that are out there now are even better than the original toys (that still have their charm), and are really aiming for an adult market. This movie has been a classic and certainly ranks amongst my favorite pieces of Transformers animation. If you would like to find out more about the lore of Transformers, you might want to check out the five part opener of season 3: “ Five faces of Darkness”. It picks up the story after the movie, and dives into the history of the Transformers including their creators :) As for your question who is my favorite Transformer: Soundwave is certainly in my top three, but I think my favorite is Scorponok (not from the bayverse, but from the G-1 cartoon). Anyways, enough of my ramblings: great reaction guys! Keep up the great work :)
I watched this as a 5 year old the day it came out, I cried like a baby when Optimus died, when we left the viewing, I said to my mum, can we watch it again and she took me back in for the 2nd viewing. Greatest movie of my childhood.
A cool thing you’ll notice, some of the takedowns between auto bots and deceptions are referenced in the new movies: first example being when Kup shifted Blitzwings tank form, Jazz does the exact same move to Devastator in the first Bay movie
If you guys want to see the TV origins of the Transformers, you should sample the three-part opening episodes of the TV series. It helps to introduce the original characters. Dinobots appear in episode 7. And Jetfire/Skyfire (the Blackbird in the Bay-movies) in episode 13.
I was going say if they wanted to they could just watch the five part G1 season 3 premiere Five Faces of Darkness since that continues directly form where the movie left off and does have the actual origins of the Transformers race.
At least in original cartoon continuity obviously different series have different backstories.
They wanted to sell new toys, so the old transformers needed to go. That is why so many died and new ones came on in. Another one I loved was the GI Joe animation one they did around the same time.
Bro this is my Number One Favorite movie of all time, and nothing can really change that fact. Also on the part of killing Optimus, the writters didn't initially know how much the fans, especially the children, loved him, so they were surprised when they got a bunch of angry letters from parents saying it caused their kids to cry.
Dude, same. I still watch this movie annually and my youngest sots ams watches it with me.
Side note - because Optimus Prime’s Death upset so many kids, who’s parents then complained to Hasbro, when they came to release GI Joe The Movie the following year, which had already been fully animated, ready for release, when Duke was killed, they dropped in Scarlett saying off screen ‘he’s fallen into a coma’ so as to avoid the same thing happening again.
It’s incredible that Hasbro didn’t think that killing off young boys heroes early in film would upset them and see a backlash - I saw Transformers in 1986 in a packed theatre and all the kids were crying asking if Prime was dead or not - both me and my brother were crying 😂
Biggest shock in this movie was the use of the word shit. Us kids were absolutely shocked when we heard that word in a cartoon back in the day
I had the same thought had to rewind it a couple times like fr late 80s apparently didn't care about much. Murdering fools every other scene
@@terryjohnson5579
Translation: They treated us like adults and not china dolls.
I can't state strongly enough how much better I think the world would be today if we had stuck with that.
Saw this in theatre in 86, when I saw Blaster release his cassettes my jaw hit the ground
@@terryjohnson5579 Oh no, the late 80s cared a LOT. That one word was enough to get it pushed up a rating to PG, instead of U. Which is _why they included it_. PG films got a lot more cinema slots and time than U movies, because U was seen as for-children-only whereas PG was general viewing.
The word "shit" is in there precisely to change the rating.
The mass murder... hilariously, _couldn't_ change the rating. The official rules were that death only matters if it's a person; robots were OK.
Some stuff you guys probably missed from G1 Transformers:
~ Deep within the heart of Cybertron lies Vector Sigma - the inspiration for the All-Spark in the Michael Bay movies. While parts of Transformer Canon are incomplete, it is theorized that the Quintessons discovered Vector Sigma and constructed Cybertron around it. The Quintessons created both the 'civilian' Autobots and 'military' Decepticons and, with few exceptions, all were infused with 'life' by Vector Sigma. Any Transformer so infused is said to possess 'the spark'.
~ The Dinobots were constructed on Earth by Spike, Ratchet, and Wheeljack. The original three were Grimlock (the Tyrannosaur), Slag (the Triceratops), and Sludge (the Brachiosaur); once they proved their mettle, Snarl (the Stegosaurus) and Swoop (the Pterodactyl) joined their ranks. Their limited intelligence is due to a combination of being constructed without Cybertonium and not being infused by Vector Sigma.
~ Both the Autobots and Decepticons (led by an Autobot named A-3, later dubbed Alpha Trion) rebelled against the Quintessons, destroying most of them. The (relatively) few Quintessons who escaped Cybertron constructed their new home, Quintessa, and populated it with new 'slaves' - Sharkticons and Allicons - whose systems include Cybertonium (making them smarter than the DInobots) but they, too, lack 'the spark'.
~ There's a deeper undercurrent to the 'trials' held by the Quintessons. While the Quintessons are inherently cruel, their utmost hatred is reserved for any and all Transformers who were part of the rebellion which exiled them from Cybertron - those who were are judged 'guilty' and subjected to a far, FAR worse fate. (Being fed the the Sharkticons is downright merciful by comparison!)
One of my first movies I remember seeing and it solidified my love for Transformers forever - and traumatized me to my core!! As you rightly pointed out, the animation is AMAZING. I think they spent way too much money on it, which is why we never got a sequel and the studio never made anything this good again! They were going to do a GI Joe movie I think...
They did do a GI Joe movie.
@@GregPrice-ep2dk But the GI Joe movie wasn't released in theaters, it was turned into a 5-part mini-series to open season 3 of the GI Joe Cartoon. Season 3 of the Transformers cartoon opened with a 5-part mini-series that was basically a sequel; it was set 1 year after the events of this movie.
The animation for the GI Joe Movie was good, too. Honestly one of my favorite opening scenes, ever. The story, however, was absolutely awful.
@@alectuddles5845 It was ok, story wise. People tend to hate on it for the excessively cheesy "COBRALALALALALA!" stuff.
@@GregPrice-ep2dk I think it was panned because as cool as the Cobra-La stuff is, it feels seriously out of place. Larry Hama, who is basically THE G.I. Joe comics guy, was so opposed to Cobra-La that him agreeing to feature them in a comic was used as a selling point on the cover of said comic.
I think fans also didn't like how Cobra Commander gets dumped in the whole movie, as it was made independent of season 2 of the cartoon.
You know, 37 years of contemplating this film, but it's only on this watch that I realize, with decades of lore added how intense that, "I BELONG TO NOBODY!" line is. Megatron started out his life, started the Decepticons because he started out his life as a slave gladiator to the Quintessons who had conquered Cybertron.
IIRC, the original storyboard had Megatron flat out refuse Unicorn *until he died*. The animation seems to support that, as Megs goes colorless and his optics wink out.
Is that in the cartoon continuity?
@@Jhiaxus315 Probably not. That said what is in the cartoon continuity is that all Transformers were enslaved the Quintessons for a long period.
I was 12 in 1986 and watched this movie in the theater. Suffice it to say, Optimus' death was a shock to say the least. The whole theater was filled with disbelieving screams and crying, lol. Nothing like traumatizing a whole generation to sell new toys!
I had a VHS of this movie when I was a kid and I watched it 2 or 3 times a day. Every frame and soundbite is a wave of nostalgia.
They were animating this movie WHILE producing season two of the tv series. Granted they farmed out animation of many episodes to other companies.
The reason is that Optimus Prime is voiced by the same actor. Peter Cullen has been the primary guy since the beginning. He's Transformers' own Kevin Conroy and occupies the same position, but to a greater degree as he originated the role. Fun fact, in G1 here, Mr. Cullen also voiced Ironhide. But this series and film was a who's who of 80s voice acting.
The majority of Autobots weren't built for war, they were laborers, analysts, engineers, exploerers or medics. Decepticons were built for war or were criminals, with a few exceptions, Starscream was a scientist.
I remember being 5, we had Tranformers, Knight Rider and A team. What a time to be a big if 5.
Apparently this is the first time I cried at a tv according to my mum. Optimus going. You can’t imagine if you’d watched the cartoons that he would ever die. What a time to be 5.
As a hardcore Transformers fan, I still remember going into the movie theaters to watch this film as a kid. I watched it about 3 times, and cried about Optimus each time. When it premiered on Saturday morning cartoons, it was split into 3-4 parts. This is still my gold standard animation for the Transformers.
I would also like to watch this movie with someone that hasn't and see the difference in knowledge from current live-action movies and animated.
On your own time or whatever, you should really watch the whole original series to see the back story of it all. One of the greatest cartoons of all time.
Nah, the original series is goofy as hell and is plagued by tons of animation errors and continuity errors. It's entertaining and it's important for laying the foundation for all future Transformers series to come, but I think it's ludicrous to call it "one of the greatest cartoons of all time". The movie and the Marvel comics were the best things to come out of the G1 era, story-wise.
@@jetpackman01 Without the success of the original toyline, Marvel Comic, and Marvel/Sunbow cartoon... there would be no other series.
This is a lot of of nastalgia talking
46:48
"Oh, Bonecrusher Was There"
In the original animated series, Bonecrusher was one of the Construticons
One thing that makes this so good is the all star cast for the voices.
Fun Fact: The voice actor for Starscream was also the voice of Cobra Commander from the 80s GI Joe cartoon.
This was not the last you would see of Optimus. He returns.
18:55 it varies slightly but generally speaking cybetronians have a spark (heart basically) and rely on energon to survive and to power their weapons and such. In the idw comics a transformer can survive with just their brain, spark and a bit of energon
The concept of sparks was introduced in beast wars
Alien judge: we need to get maintenance down here. Even though we keep finding them innocent, the trap door keeps accidentally triggering anyway...
This will always be the best. I was 7 when this was in the theater, and it was amazing. I grew up where parents didn't care what was on screen. Horror movies played all of the time in my house, but this devastated me. No pun intended.
Same. 7 when it came out. As a kid, it always confused me when the Quintessons would give the verdict of Innocent. I was a bit to young to understand the irony or, mockery of justice they were doing.
"No, I'll crush you with my bare hands!" Something that's overlooked because it happens so fast is that Megatron has his arm canon aimed at Optimus when he says it, he could open fire on him then but lowers it when he says that. He chooses to engage Optimus hand to hand out of hatred. He did open fire on him during the fight, but in a no hands barred deathmatch anything goes, and Megs still lowered the canon to engage to begin with to engage the deathmatch properly. Warriors honor
If you're looking for more animation/transformers. I suggest watching the 3 part opener from season 1 of the cartoon. It will give you a sense of their TV budget and writing. Also, the G.I. Joe 5 part mini-series: The MASS Device.
The MASS Device is available on both Roku Channel and Tubi these days. Absolutely holds up as a fun little minseries.
This was actually a long toy commercial to introduce new toys by killing off a lot of the old toys in the series. The creators of the movie said they didn’t realize how iconic Optimus Prime was before killing him off,but do the backlash of children during the 80’s they brought him back in Season 3 in The Return of Optimus Prime.
As a 2005 child, i grew up on this film and im getting so much nostalgia seeing it for the first time since i moved house in 2015-
When you're watching the shuttle get taken around 6:18. I can't tell you how shocking this scene was as a child. The tone of the cartoon was very lighthearted. Nobody died or anything and even when an autobot would be destroyed, they'd just get put back together. Seeing the autobots not just lose, but be killed was just unbelievable, especially to a 6 year old.
Great to see artists appreciating how awesome the animation is this movie. One of my fave childhood movies
hi.
Old person here.
I was there in 1986, and it was very fucking epic.
Non Stop action, non stop rock theme, and to this day, when Optimus dies, it still wrecks me.
Optimus was our TV dad.
I strongly urge you watch the cartoon from the 80s. You will get to know the personalities and motivations.
This movie plays after the first 3 seasons of the cartoon series and after this movie, there is a season 4 (which is also the final last season of the OG Cartoon).
Spike Witwicky is still a kid in the series before the movie and in this was I think the first time we see him as an adult and also the first time we see his kid Daniel!
Also in the 4th Season they revived Optimus because soo many kids were devastated that Optimus Prime died...and people werent the biggest fan of Hot Rod aka Rodimus Prime because he is kind of to blame that Optimus died in the first place..
They actually brought him back twice in season 3 once as zombie type and them for real in last 2 s.3 epsoides the return of optimus prime 1 & 2 due to backlash over killing him!
I thought it was;
Seasons 1 & 2
The Movie
Seasons 3 & 4
Season 4 being tiny with a handful of Episodes.
As an old, 40-something, wanna-be animator, and Transformers fan, I appreciate you guys' appreciation for this movie.
The reason Megatron stopped being a gun was due to strict toy regulations in the 1990s with guns. Also the size issue both in cartoons and toys. It's hard to play with a full size toy gun fighting a mini Autobot.
I'm 39, this is my FAVORITE iteration of Transformers. Can pretty much quote this movie word for word. Glad to see this generation experiencing this for the first time, and appreciating the artwork, music, and action that is UNIQUELY retro G1/G2 Transformers... Awesome!
Fun facts:
1. Unicron was Orson Welles last role before he passed away.
2. The characters were killed off because their toys weren't selling and making enough money.
3. This movie took place between seasons 2 and 3 of the TV show, in season 3 Starscream came back as a ghost.
4. Some of the most notable characters killed were Wheeljack, Prowl, Ironhide, Ratchet, and Brawn. I say this because when this movie came out, these Autobots were fan favorites.
Always loved Hotrod
I keep Studio Series Hot Rod on my Desk... Arising lol.
watching a new generation watchin this warms my heart
As a kid, seeing Hot Rod with his blasters on his arms was so cool. He quickly became my favorite Autobot. Fast Forward about 30+ Years, and I finally get my hands on MP-22 Hot Rodimus, he even came with a fishing rod. I also learn that the animation for this movie was also handled by Toei Animation, so this movie is technically my first anime.
Blaster is all time favorite Bot of all time.
This movie is the first time he his own cassette group
I love the visual pun there. "Not today Galvatron" Hot Rod literally did a hit and run.
For what amounts to an advertising campaign to sell toys to children, they did quite well with the story in the original series and movie. Sadly, killing off nearly the entire G1 line really wrecked the kids they were trying to sell toys to, too the point of parents writing the company and complaing/boycotting the toys. As a 12 year old myself when this went down, man, we had the emotional damage meme going.
As someone who grew up with the cartoon before seeing the movie, it was a tough blow seeing official characters getting slaughtered and it being CANON
MORE TRANSFORMERS PLEASE !!!
Dude…. Being a kid and seeing Optimus die was life changing shit. We all grew up a few years that day. Oh man such a fun nostalgia trip! Glad you guys got to enjoy it!
Ironhide shared a voice actor with Optimus. Cliffjumper was voiced by Shaggy, from Scooby-doo, and Jazz was Hong Kong Fuey
You guys should definitely watch the show Transformers Prime. Not only is it the best transformers media to date, but also just one of the best shows of the Cartoon Network era period imo. It’s early 2010s cgi so the animation and models looks very slightly off at the start but the show improves the more you watch and the world building, characters, fights and everything else make up for it. It also focuses mainly on the big robots, and the humans are actually entertaining. Anyway nice video and feel free to ask about Prime or the 1986 movie because I’d consider myself well versed on both of these. :)
Do you mean Cartoon Network as in you think TFP aired on Cartoon Network?
Do you live in a different country, or are you remembering this wrong? R.I.D 2015 aired on Cartoon Network. TFP aired on The Hub channel (eventually renamed into The Family Discovery channel). It was never on Cartoon Network, at least in the U.S.
@@jaydonmagan4694 I was more referring to the ‘Cartoon Network era’ like the time when Ben ten and adventure time and other shows were popular

4:44 You had to watch the original series to know him. Spike is the main human character that helps the Autobots along the episodes. In there, he's like a young boy. Since the year of the movie is 2005, he grew up.
Without a doubt, this is the best Transformers movie. Bay's movies can't hold a candle to this.
And this is one of the Many reasons that we G1 fans love this and feel it is so much better from the Bay movies. Glad you liked it!
I am a 44 years old now. My wife and I do not have children to share my love of Transformers with. That said - I won’t be able to watch my favorite 80’s animated movie of all time with my own boys but this is the next best thing. Thanks for this.
I definitely suggest you watch the Beast Wars series before or after you watch Rise of the Beasts just so you can compare what they could have done story wise.
I second Beast Wars. As a heads up, though, Beast Wars was one of the very first all-CGI animated shows, so it's going to look astonishingly primitive for the front half of the show.
They could not have remade the story for the live action movies and you haven't actually seen beast wars if you think they could.
@@sumelar I didn't say they could remake it but they ignored a ton of story elements that would have been far better.

That happened to an enitre generation of our first sincere sense of loss and trauma. We struggled to watch 1 episode a week or every day when our mothers would let us, and grew with the cartoon for 2 years of our young lives when this movie came out. We were so invested.
Yeah, when we were kids it was a gutwrencher. Although I was more pissed when they killed off Starscream. The thorn in Megatron's side.
This was the decade of ultra ultra animation.
"Macross: Do You Remember Love?" came out in 84, "Angel's Egg" in 85.
All the Transformers animated series and the movie were done in Japan. Something else about this movie is that it was Orson Wells's last movie. He passed away about 6 months after doing his voice role. A movie that came out before Transformers and Akira, which probably has the best Anime Movie old school ever done, is a movie called Macross do you remember Love. You really need to check that movie out. Its full version is on youtube.
I have been cheerleading the Animation in this movie since the 1st time I saw it in the 80s.
It holds up nearly 40 years later.
in the show one ep they remember that the junkeons can fix anything and bring optimus to them to resurrect
41:07 a double dang in stereo lol Unicron kinda does that hahaha
I watched this film in the theater the day it came out at Aurora Mall Cinemas 3. Someone who worked there had spilled burnt popcorn and the oil got into the carpet, I can still smell it. The movie wrecked me and when Optimus died there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Kids went in laughing and came out looking like war veterans. I was luckily 11 at the time so I was able to process it better than some of the other kids but it wrecked me. Even watching Prime say "Megatron must be stopped... no matter the cost." in this reaction video STILL got me choked up nearly four decades later. I'm glad it still hits so hard to new viewers as an animated story. Your comments and reactions were fun for someone who's a bit closer to Kupp's age now than to Hot Rod's. Keep it up. "'Til all are one."
When this came out so many kids were upset as most of the ones killed in the start were fan favorites, but Hasbro wanted to promote the new toy range
These guys were blown away from the first shot! These brothers have great taste and truly appreciate the effort made to create this masterpiece! My kind of cats! Rock on gents 👍👍
