The reason why Deathwing had to have those metal Staples and plates put on his body was because his immense power was growing so much that his body was literally falling apart he had to have those things to put himself together. And the material that the Staples in place were made out of is called Elementium a material that actually enhances the elements in his body making him even more powerful!
Illidan: well, I didn't get the girl and she went out with my brother so it kinda went a bit dark after there. Also, I am the most beloved character in the franchise and Legion was entirely about me. So there.
Although they keep adding more previously unknown "context" to their stories, changing their history, they're already very different than when they were first written.
"Kind of wish we had more of Deathwing." You and all of us. The Cataclysm expansion that featured Deathwing as the main villain was one of the expansions that suffered from a lot of cut content and didn't get the depth it and the character deserved. Some cliff notes answers to a few questions: You'll be getting a lot more of Illidan if you keep watching. Illidan is a major character who returns in later expansions. Illidan is very much a Machiavellian Hero; the ends justify the means. He sacrificed everything in order to gain the power of demons for the sole purpose of using it to destroy the Burning Legion demons. Fighting fire with fire. Elf chick who turns into a panther was just a character; not anyone integral. Animal shape-shifting is a key facet of Druids in the Warcraft universe, and Druidism is a prominent way of life among the Night Elves. The Lich King is a much beloved character among the Warcraft fanbase as well. His story and influence carries on well beyond his expansion as well. I could go into detail and tell you the backstory there but I'd be writing a novel. Suffice to say the Lich King is the entity of the armor itself, the man you saw was Arthas, Prince of Lordaeron who tricked using his anger and rage trying to protect his people from a Demon took up the corrupted sword Frostmourne, losing his soul and becoming a puppet to the Lich King. Upon donning the armor himself he became one with the Lich King itself, effectively acting as a body host. The elf dragons as you called them were all Dragons just taking on a mortal form as each of their true forms are massive, specifically the Dragon Aspects; the leaders of their colored flights who possessed the power of cosmos traveling Titans. The "magnifying glass" was a magic artifact called the Dragon Soul which housed a significant portion of all the Dragon Aspects inside it and was instrumental in stopping Deathwing; with it's destruction however the Aspects powers faded, still powerful but losing the might that made them nearly gods. The baby is not a Dragon baby just a regular Orc baby, the Aspect that was speaking Alexstrasza is the Dragon Aspect of Life and because of her unique power she was simply well aware of the fact Aggra was pregnant even before Aggra herself knew.
Only thing is I double checked the lore and dragonsoul wasn't destroyed. They took it from the past . Before sundering and simply returned it back xD which I find weird
Also, Thrall didn't know she was pregnant yet. He was too busy fighting demigods and the literal spirits of the elements. So yeah, it was a surprise to him as well. :)
little things you guys might want to know, at 26:14 the orc the heroes are fighting is the one the lich king killed and took the soul from and the fire guy at 29:37 is the paladin the orc was fighting next to in the cinematic that died from the poison gas and dragon fire.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames and so far the Fire Guy (Bolvar) taking up the mantle of Lich King has been a good thing, he truly keeps the undead scourge from killing everyone. Bolvar has the strength and willpower to resist being corrupted and is a major player in the latest storylines against the latest evil.
The story of Arthas becoming the Lich King is fascinating. It's like if Luke Skywalker were more pragmatic and joined the dark side in order to defeat the dark side... but then of course became the new bad guy as a result. The road to hell is paved with good intentions after all.
@@homelesswizard3161 not quite, Anakin joined the dark side for a personal reason, he intended to save padame and had be brought to believe the Jedi where evil. Arthas willingly knew he was using dark power, but did it because he thought he could contain it. He knew he needed more power to save his people, and made a gamble. Evidently he couldn't control frostmourne and it controlled him.
I would say a good summery is that Arthas/Lich king is Warcrafts Anakin/Darth Vader. As both are fallen heroes who tried to do good and was good people trying to help many and did, but eventually became the thing they fought to destroy. "You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain"
Illidan's story really develops and gets explained in the Legion expansion for the game. You have a storyline that you play through his personal history in game and there are a few cut scenes included in that storyline.
The in-game cinematics (machinima) include a lot of his involvement there as well. In chronological order: Legion cinematic trailer Legion - Horde Broken Shore cinematic Legion - Alliance Broken Shore cinematic Legion - The Tomb of Sargeras Trailer (Legion) Kil'jaeden defeat cinematic (Legion) Rejection of the Gift (Legion) The Battle for Argus Begins (Legion) Argus the Unmaker Defeat cinematic Legion - Sylvanas and Vol'jin Cinematic (takes place right after Broken Shore but ties into the next one & the next expansion) (Legion) Defeat of the Burning Legion: Horde Epilogue (Legion) Defeat of the Burning Legion: Alliance Epilogue Then it continues with the next expansion, Battle for Azeroth, beginning with the "Warbringers" (Sylvanas, Azshara, Jaina) shorts. Here's a quick playlist for the links for just the major ones after Warlords of Draenor (except the Illidan special questline). ua-cam.com/play/PLCmdYxEp9OQjkamS3LIykDhP-sbFd7lfT.html
@@Yutani_Crayven - Um. Broken shore -> Tomb of Sargeras? Now that's a story/lore slaughter if I've ever seen one. At the very least you're missing The Nighthold ending cinematic. Also, most of the explaining around Illidan happens in between.
The "fire demon lich king" who took the crown after Arthas' death is Bolvar Fordragon. He was an hero of alliance and a leader of forces that you have seen in an earlier cinematic (which they all died by getting poisoned). Since he nearly died but purified by dragonfire he chose to be the lich king and stop the undead destroy the world. In short, he is not a bad guy, not even close :D
Yeah we hadn’t realized he was the same guy that had been in the gas. We assumed they all died. And we always question anyone seeking power but it seems he was truly one of the good ones 😊
The orc that the lich king killed is Saurfang the younger. You see him again in "old soldier" in the flashback. And his line "let it be finished" is echoed by Saurfang the elder in his duel with Sylvanas
we had seen this so long ago that we forgot that parallel but that is some great storytelling right there. Might not always hit, but when they do, it’s a home run 🤩🥳😀
That fire dude is actualy good guy, he´s the one who was enveloped by that green gas. Also that disc is a artifact that was created by deathwing (at that time known as Neltharion) and other dragon aspects. It has part of the powers of those dragon aspects exept Neltharions.
Ahhh the glory days of being 14 and being able to lose myself in Azeroth. I’m afraid the game and world has changed a lot since the beginning but I hope another game somehow captures me again like vanilla WoW did and the earlier expacs. It will forever be some of my favorite memories.
@@bbhawks9060 totally agree with you. Even when classic released they cleared MC in days and it’s all min maxing and everyone knows what to do, vanilla wow will always be the most memorable gaming experience of my life, sadly never to be repeated but that’s what makes it so beautiful, I’m sure there’s a line in Troy about life being like that 🤔
The whole Arthas/Scourge storyline is the reason I started playing Vanilla again. Missed that when the world changed with Cataclysm. The Plaguelands are my favourite zones of all
I played WoW pretty much from day 1, my main character was a Tauren druid, while I didn't role play in WoW, RPing has always been sort of close to my heart, and I loved getting into the lore of WoW, even though it wasn't ideal, I'd go to every starting zone for each race and do their starting quests, even if I was getting little to no EXP for them, it's in the Forsaken zones you have this long quest line, given to you by none other than Putricide which has you making a plague, getting ingredients, testing, refining.. ..as a Tauren I'm a bit like.. "...this doesn't seem like a great idea." ..but nothing ever came of it. ....then YEARS later the Wrathgate happened, an old call back finally playing out and it was great to see, Putricide on the hill making use of that very plague that we all inadvertently helped him create. The Forsaken were condemned for the act, and their leader... a certain Banshee queen by the name of Sylcanis Windrunner, claimed she had nothing to do with it, and it was all blamed on Putricide, which.. to anyone that knew the lore.. knew she was lying.
Arthas’ theme. “Invincible” is such an amazing song. I recommend you listen to the full version with lyrics. Little back story, but Invincible is the name of Arthas’ faithful steed back when he was a paladin. Invincible fell in combat. When Arthas first became a Death Knight, Invincible was the very first one he resurrected from the dead.
@@Drako2k0 invincible wasn't killed in combat. h e was actually killed by Arthas. Arthas was riding him in a snowstorm, and when he tried to have Invincible take their favourite jump they didn't land right and Invincible's forelegs were shattered. Arthas had to put him down. Its a big part of the reason why he made the decisions he did later on that led to him becoming the lich king
I'm happy to finally see some reactionists watch the wow cinematics, both cgi and ingame, so you can understand a little more the context of each expansion. Greetings from Chile
Hello! Glad you enjoyed first part of our journey. We didn’t get to all of it but we are getting some more understanding then just watching individual trailers randomly like before. Burdens of Shaohao and Mists of Pandaria are next 😊
Awesome! I didn't expect you guys to do in-game cinematics as well! I swear some in-game cinematics especially in Legion and Battle for Azeroth are even better than some actual cinematic trialers, they are so good! I'm really happy you guys are getting into these.
Not sure if someone answered this yer, but in the "Fall of the lich king" cinematic, Arthas says "let them come, frostmourne hungers", which is the name of his soul-devouring sword, and also something he used to say when you had him move around in warcraft 3.
21:45 this is my favorite cutscene. I wish it was as high quality as the new ones. Goosebumps 3 times over. I know this is also an older video and don't expect y'all to read this but the "fire guy" who wears the lich king's crown at 29:40 , is the guy who dies from Putress (forsaken) gas attack. Is then captured and tortured in the citadel and still after all that suffering chooses to wear the crown and take control of the scourge. The greatest of sacrifice, and in comparisson they did saurfang's son kinda dirty.
We try to read all our comments even on older vids because we love interacting with the community and sometimes people find older vids of ours. We just filmed our Shadowlands review and are posting that Thursday 🥳🥳
When Cataclysm came out Deathwing would fly from zone to zone randomly and if you didn't get away he'd burn you to death. There was an achievement for it lol
A little bit of unfortunate timing given everything with Blizzard right now, but the cinematics are still definitely worth it, and your reactions are great as always
Yeah our timing is always perfect 😂 We’ve been given some info on what’s going on right but by no means are experts on situation. Hopefully the company works out it’s problems with employees and fans (and their poor treatment of both) and gets back to basics of what made it all great. In the meantime we do enjoy the lore of WoW and will continue our journey 🤗
@@dnlkr I meeeaaan some people complain about that, but it's mainly the gameplay, the monetization, the lack of content updates, and of course the criminal investigation. Of ALL complaints, the story ones are not very prominent. I stand by that. And also just because not everyone likes the story doesn't mean it's not good. Plenty of people are just dumb and don't understand clever, challenging media.
When u get to Mist of Pandaria i strongly suggest u dont miss the diffrent parts of (The Burdens of Shaohao) They explain how Pandaria was able to stay hidden from the world so long and how 1 pandaren changed the fate of there entire race and how they now live there lives.
I have no clue who you guys are but i really enjoyed this vid. Im 16 and wow has been a part of my life since i was born, remember sitting in my fathers lap smashing the keyboard when i was a baby. I've had my own account for 11 years and these trailers and voicelines still gives me insane goosebumps. nothing hits as hard as "At long last, no king rules forever my son" and "There must always be a lich king"... Damn, Azeroth is wonderful
I can't wait for you guys to see illidans redemption arc. And that one scene that stole all our hearts(because everyone can relate to that scene regardless of who you are, illidan the real champion of azeroth)
Wrath was where Blizz subs exploded, 11 million folks paid a minimum of 11 a month because the game was so well done to that point. I spent probably 4 full years as a raid leader, guild master, pvp champion… and some of my best memories are fighting, falling, slugging it out with my raid group for hours and hours in ICC. Dropping the Lich King after like 200 tries, everyone was literally insane in the vent. It meant something. We took time out of our lives to do what couldnt be done solo, everyone had important talent, skills to bring to the table… and that is the essence of what made WoW so good back then.
I love this!!! You gotta watch the Burdens of Shaohao with Mists of Pandaria, and Lords of War with Warlords of Draenor, they're some of the best cinematics Blizzard has EVER done. The same goes from every expansion after that as well, each has a small series of cinematics that are masterpieces of both art and storytelling. After that, comes "Harbingers", "Warbringers" and "Afterlives", each one following right after the cinematic trailer (and each one more important to the overall story than the last).
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes we ha e Burdens of Shaohao and Mists of Pandaria up next in our journey and those other vids you recommended are on their as well. 😁
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames yay, that's awesome! I supposed they might be, but I had to make sure you weren't skipping them. As a sidenote: Make sure you keep in mind the big events that are mentioned in these cinematics. Some of them will pop up more than once, so see if you can recognize them later!! (hints: the Undead invasion on the Elves seemed pretty important, there's probably other characters who were just as impacted by it)
After Wrath of the Lich King they had sort of expended the leftovers from Warcraft 3. Those amazing leftovers... The Burning Crusade was very much like a cool expansion upon the original game that we usually call "Vanilla" (now WoW: Classic exists for that era of the game). And although they somewhat didn't really deliver on Illidan's story to the fullest, it was pretty much just... cool. Remembered fondly by many. It's in Wrath (or WotLK) that they really started perfecting the WoW storytelling, and in a way also ended it. Because after Arthas, for Cataclysm and onward they had to create so much new lore and storylines. Characters here, storylines there and although with imperfections on top -> Arthas still has the strongest total character arc in the game. The only other characters that even come close (maybe like Illidan, Jaina, Thrall and Varian) just don't have the same continuity in their stories. Cataclysm's focus was however and above all the remaking of the world. Updating the visuals for the time and making the mundane questing slightly more on-rails and entertaining. There is a lot more lore regarding Deathwing and the dragon aspects, but it's harder to make an engaging story for a god-dragon compared to a fallen human knight (Arthas). The expansion has a nice theme of the elements (like Thrall mentions in the last vid) being in complete chaos as Deathwing creates whole new dynamics in the geography. Flooding here, burning there and cracking open chasms all over. But otherwise as seen by how short that portion is in this compilation, there isn't all that much "red-thread story". Loud applause for reacting to this extensive compilation and to whoever helped put it together. And not being afraid of using the superior fan-made versions or remasters of the in-game cutscenes and trailers. With all the shit happening at Activision-Blizzard currently and the bad crap in the game, it's still good to have these reactions to look forward to. Memories of a happier past. :)
Thanks for the info and helping expand our knowledge some more about the game dynamics. Despite all that is going on right now we are still interested in WoW story. Maybe that is because we haven’t played the game 🤔
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames - The objective side of us WoW-players always knew that the story after Wotlk was a bit meh meh. But it's only lately that we have begun to dislike it. While Blizzard are in some ways doubling down on what they have already decided on. There seems to be a rather big disconnect between the players and the developers. And I hold the developers at fault mostly. It's their job to make a good product, and especially a product that most of the devs today were not around to see at it's inception. But more and more we see evidence that the merging into the mega-corp Activision-Blizzard is what is at the core of the issues imo. Those being, seeing the fans as cows to milk for money. But they don't have many actual fans left today. It is very depressing to me if I'm being honest. But I try to present it here in a more "pragmatic" way. Subjectively - "sucks dude".
You two really need to watch the remaining cinematics for WoW. You will love the Legion storyline. Also the lich king storyline is legendary. For context the new lich king (Bolvar) is an ally to the world of Azeroth. Elf chick who turns into the panther is the Druid class. I’ve been playing since the beginning of WoW (2004) and the game is extremely rich in lore that you won’t see in a cinematic/cutscene. Loved seeing your reactions And hearing you speculate on what was happening you were mostly right! I’m looking forward to your next WoW cinematic endeavor 🤙
even though i never played MMO and generally dont like this genre, even I accept that WoW is an absolute legend, the MMO RPG that started it all, its worth exploring just to pay respects (list of best cinematics can be easily googled), and of course top-tier Blizzard cinematic quality is there (some of them are over 15 years old! its ridiculous how talented old Blizzard was)
Yeah we don’t play mmo either but the story just seemed to fascinating and lots of great characters that we wanted to explore it more without having to invest the time in actual gameplay. There is only so much time and we all have to figure out best way to use it 🙃🥳🥂
I adore you two! There is so much great story here. Illidan and Arthas are both fascinating characters. Illidan, the horned guy more towards the beginning, was originally a night elf! He had wanted to be a druid like his brother, Malfurion, but he was always in his shadow. Lots of things happened and he becomes....what he did. Can't wait to see part 2!
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Well the thing is, it isnt his real name haha xD. His real name is Neltharion. What kinda funny is and rarely people watching the cataclysm cinematic realize, because lacking the knowledge to be honest is: The devestation u see, Earth breaking apart, Tsunami etc, Deathwing is doing all of this. They arent natural catastrophes. The earthquake is the result of him slamming his head in pain against the caverns while his armor get clamped together. possible, because he is the aspect of earth with the power to shape the entire landscape to his will, well he never does it to kill his enemys (Would be pretty easy for him xD ) because he is mad and insane. =^.^=
I remember at the end of 2007 I've started WoW during The Burning Crusade (TBC) expansion when I was in high school. Then a year after Wrath of The Lich King (WOTLK) came out and on launch day we had to go to the gaming store and buy the discs (yes discs haha) at 12 am, still have the boxes of all WoW games with discs. After I installed the game, there was this lich king cinematic and the slow-mo with the sword so got me and for me, that was the best expansion and game I have ever played in my life. Waiting for WOTLK Classic so much!!
That’s all the community there! Great suggestions from fans of WoW and we just tried to follow as closely as we could to the plethora of suggestions we were given 😊
watching the both of you, all i can say is: i see a couple that opened a can of lore worms they will wish they hadnt :D ive been a player since early burning crusade, and never payed attention to the lore behind the game... until i did, and oh boy... not only was warcraft one of the biggest MMO's at a time, the massive pile of lore backing it up is even bigger. thing is, the more you look into characters you want to know more about, the deeper down the lore rabbit hole you go. i just hope the both of you get to enjoy the lore as much as i did and still do :)
Just wanted to say because I haven't seen it mentioned personally. The fire guy who became the lich king was the good choice. If you remember the guy who died from the green poison smog, when the fires of the red dragons purified the air, he wasnt dead. The lich king tried to break him and bend him to his will but he never gave in. To this day, he hasnt given into the will of the helmets master.
That’s damn tough to do. We hadn’t realized what had fully happened and just assumed everyone died in the green fog but man that dude is one tough son of a bitch 😯😃😎🤟
You guys... I can't wait until you see Jaina's warbringers, though I must say, once you see it, it'll require context; once that context is had it just brings tears Btw, "The LOVE of power corrupts, and the LOVE of Absolute power corrupts absolutely" If you love power more than people your value will prioritize one over the other...
The sword used by Arthas, the Lich King was named Frostmourne. Cool sword but it and the helm of domination helped corrupt him. Bolvar is the paladin with the shield who died in the poison. He was saved by the dragons fire cause red dragons are the aspect of life, anyways, that fire saved him and he was tortured by the lich king, but Bolvar is a true hero and accepted the damnation of having to control the scourge
Illidan... Oh great and powerful Illidan. Blessed art thou whose immortal path is to thus deliver all mortals from the Legion. For this blessing... We, are not prepared.
Even though I only played a little bit of World of Warcraft during Battle for Azeroth, I really enjoy reading about the past expansions. Cataclysm in particular holds the number 3 spot for best World of Warcraft cinematic in my opinion (my number one and two are Warlords of Draenor and Wrath of the Lich King, respectively). The basic story of Cataclysm was that the ancient dragon Neltharion the Earth-Warder, known to the mortal races as Deathwing, has unexpectedly driven his way up into the mortal plane from the elemental plane of earth, having been driven mad by the whispers of the old gods. Deathwing had been forced to take refuge in Deepholm after a previous defeat that left him horrendously scarred, the armor plates we see being mounted on him in his cinematic are the only things holding his body together. Over the course of the expansion, Deathwing would randomly attack different areas of the world, killing all players in them when he arrived (this actually played part in an in-game achievement known as "stood in the fire," which is derived from player terminology for taking damage from the raid boss when you're not supposed to). Cataclysm was also considered the end of Classic World of Warcraft, the part that veteran players tend to have the fondest memories of, with the next expansion, Mists of Pandaria, considered the beginning of "Modern WoW."
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames hey guys love your channel. Also I wanted to know if you guys react to any kind of animatic or just videogame stuff. Cause there are these two MLP animatics that were made 6 and 4 years ago and well you just need to see it to get how good they are. They are Lullaby of a Princess and The Moon Rises. I won't say anymore to avoid spoilers. Would love to see you guys react to them but it's your decision.
The dragon, Deathwing, his body is literally falling apart due to some other stuff in the backstory. That's why he's being bolted up with armor - it's mainly to keep him together. During the boss fight, you break off and weaken a lot of the armor, and he ends up kinda just melting into a big mass of lava and molten metal with a few recognizable parts.
18:50 I really like this quote because if arthas and the crown hadn’t fully merged/were still merging he could’ve destroyed all of azeroth with relative ease. Especially if the legion still thought he was backing them
His plan was another. Piss off both factions to send their greatest army and summon their mightiest heroes. Have both of them strenghten and nurture their strength on the way as they fight through the obstacles. Seed out the weak ones and have the strong ones face him. Once he confirmed they were strong, kill them all instantly and raise them to add them to his army, which would surpass anything he lost to them. A plan that would've worked if it wasn't for Tirion cheating with the light on the unholiest ground. Shouldn't have worked, it's like summoning some water inside a vulcano.
awesome as always, i could sit here and post an entire list of cinematics to watch, but, ill let you just slowly climb down from the tip of the iceberg you have already discovered yourselves... also, the cat lady is just an ordinary druid, class that can transform into different animals, depending on their own race and the goal they want to achieve tank - bear/ turtle melee dps - tiger/ sabertooth tiger ranged dps - big chicken (moonkin)/ thin chicken land travel - moose/deer/raptor flight form - owl/ pterrodax/ eagle swim form - dolphin/sabertooth shark/ healing - normal human form/ big broccoli tree i probably missed 1 or two
That "magnifying glass" was "The Dragon Soul", aka "The Demon Soul" later on. It was made by all the Dragon Aspects together during "The War of the Ancients", Deathwing included. And it stored good portion of all of their power. Deathwing pretended they were going to use it as a weapon against the burning legion, before he turned on the other dragons and used it to decimate the other flights, the blues in particular. Something which severly traumatized Malygos(The Blue Dragon Aspect), who had always had great respect for Deathwing. Deathwing became the way he is due to the corrupting whispers of the old gods.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Generally not, no. They're usually based on Lovecrafts "Faceless"/"Old Ones" shtick. But they do make stories interesting ^^ In the Warcraft universe, they're intrinsically bound to life. As they *ARE* "The Curse of Flesh."
Elf chick that turns into a panther is just a run of the mill Night Elf Druid. Only things more ordinary than that are Orc Warriors and Human Paladins.
Pretty true. In the story at least. Within the world, Paladins are not suppose be just everyone and anyone. Probably more common in Draenei (blue space goats - best race) than in human society as well.
Yeah we should’ve had more of cataclysm in retrospect as Deathwing is awesome. We will go back and hit the ones we missed after our initial journey concludes 😎🥳🍻
Fun fact, those armor plates on Deathwing aren't to protect him from damage, they're literally there to hold his body together, because his body can't contain the power he has inside by itself
I've been watching ur videos for a while now and I was patiently waiting for the moment u dive in to WoW. I hope there are more to come ASAP . It's by far my favorite game and I think the lore and all the cinematics are amazing . Not to mention the quality of the newer ones !

@@qualopec Yeah the recent news are sad and, frankly, disturbing. However, we can still cherish the masterpieces they've made. Let's hope they get rid of all the garbage and corruption in their company, if that's ever possible.
I do like how this compilation had in game cinematics included. Certainly adds a bit more context. Generally those cinematics would come at the end of a big raid tier. which would be a large content patch of an expansion.
I still enjoy Arthas I wish there was more to him as the lich king. Especially when it's the most tragic when he's finally defeated and dying and saying "is it finally over?" Which means he has long awaited to be slain to be free of the cursed helmet and sword. Tho I believe Arthas has tried hundreds of times to maintain control of the undead to ensure they stop invading but due to his corruption and willpower he's failed many times. Edit: during the scene of the large dragon "Deathwing" what afew people has been saying is his body has been melting so the only way to prevent himself from falling apart was to reinforce himself with iron and metal to ensure he'll be able to live. Along side what Arthus's father speaks the truth. The scourge without a master will go wild and rampant, if there isnt someone to control them and maintain them within the north.
Soundtrack gives me chills and so much nostalgia. what i love about wow story is that everything is kind of connected. Think charakters story you'd enjoy most are Lich king , Sylvanas,Jaina,Thrall,Sarufang,Tyrande, and they are all connected aswell.really enjoyed your reaction!
Oh hey, if you want Warcraft suggestions you should check out the short drawn animations they've done, there's Warbringers , Harbingers, and Afterlives, they're really worth a watch.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames They actually slot into the next expansions. For Mists of Pandaria you should watch all the "Legends of Shao Hao" right after the main trailer and before the in-game cut-scenes. For Warlords of Dreanor the equivalent is "Lords of War" of which there are five. With Legion it's the three "Harbingers". And in Battle for Azeroth you should actually watch the three "Warbringers" before you re-watch the main trailer. "Warbringers: Sylvanas" actually explains why that city is being attacked by the Alliance. the full cinematic "Old Soldier" should also be watched before the main trailer as it literally takes place minutes before the Battle for Azeroth trailer.

I know I'm getting to this late, and there may be a comment to this point elsewhere in the *checks total* over one thousand comments, but Bolvar (the guy who became the new lich king) was the same Alliance hero that fell in that green gas attack. The dragons that came in and burned everything were of the red dragonflight, who are life-bringers. Their fire burned away that death gas and kept Bolvar alive, but with that weird fiery burnt body he had. So far, he has basically been a "good guy", helping us, the protagonists.
We thought the dragons were good at first but then when they torched everything we figured they were all dead. Good to know that he comes back and is fit to wear the Lich King crown 😀
it makes me feel good to se that there are still people discovering Warcraft and able to admire it's beauty, without being tainted by the tough endgame gameplay that is at it's core today. i only hope that we are at the cusp of change, so that WoW does not die out and become little more than a footnote in gaming history.
I really loved Arthas' little 'OH SHIT I GOT MY SOUL BACK- IS IT OVER!?' moment. By now, even Blizzard has retconned it to make it so Arthas is like the Superdevil or something, they and most others seem to have forgotten that Arthas' soul was the very first one Frostmourne consumed. ;n; He made some tough choices, and in the end it was a bad decision, but the things he did after he touched that sword are not a burden his soul has to bear. Agree that the Lich King is the best :) Haha. Also, for more Deathwing, the War of Ancients is a book trilogy that goes into great depth on what happened to that poor guy. Blizzard REALLY loves its 'Fallen Champion' trope. Almost every single villain is a Fallen Champion.
Hey, if the fallen champion but is what works for them then keep on using it. 😝 Lich King story is definitely one we want to get more into once we complete our initial journey for WoW 😇
whenever it shows a big boss dying, you gota remember for the players its been years in the making, the entire expansion and quests and everything for the past few years has been them fighting against the big bad and his forces, and then they just finished a massive difficult climactic raid boss, only then do they finally get to see the boss die. it is definitely a little jaring to just watch a bosses intro and then immediately jump to their death lol
Nah I think they should go with the same pace as in this video ... It's kinda pointless to watch Afterlives if you have no clue what the hell is happening . For example the Bastion one if you know Uthers backstory it's 10000 times more epic .
@@kidwithdream1 We watch not because of lore knowledge of the game, but because of their emotions, and wow cinematics are the best among all other games
@@raskol6354 Sure thing they are ! My point still stands tho. It's far better to watch the cinematics in some order seeing the story progress and having an idea of what is going on. Even if you dont fully understand it would make for far better experience for them and the viewers .
Yes it is. We don’t play the game but the lore interests us. Maybe this can help the detox process from those leaving the game currently until Blizzard/Activision can fix itself and pay for their past treatment of employees and also of the fans of their games

Jumping on the back of the dragon was the second last boss of the cataclysm. crazy cinematic in game, loved it back in the times. By the way, the new lich king, Bolvar, he is actually the brother of Tirion Fordragon. Bolvar is the one you see dying in front of the ice crown citadel by the green thing of the undeads. and just before there was an ork boss, it is the commander of the orc legion that came to help bolvar. He is the son of the high Lord Saurfang that you can see in the latest extensions. Such a huge Lore. What´s happening right now is such a pity the warcraft universe.
The Commander of the Aliance at the Wrathgate (the one with Sword and Shield who is left behind in the poison gas and dragon Fire is called Lord Bolvar Fordragon) actually lives! The Lich King tortured him and he is the one who is crowned to be the New Lich King. He sacrifices himself to control the Scourge (Hordes of Undead) cause if nobody would control them, they would overrun the mortal World. He is such a cool Dude and his End is so tragic. The one who crowns him is his actual Brother, Lord Tirion Fordragon. Loved your Reaction
Ah okay. We though the guy that crowned him was an old version of the elf guy from Sun well? Because it looked like he had similar armor but it makes more sense being brother and he didn’t really look like an elf 😂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yeah sometimes the Blood Elves Look is kinda similar to the Look of the Paladins ^^ If you listen close you can hear, that they are calling each other Brother :)

Illidan: imprisoned for ten thousand years.
Her: whatd you DO??
Illidan: yes.

Illidan used powers that were not allowed and saved his people and was imprisoned for it
@@dildoswaggins2907 #Illidandidnothingwrong
Illidan: well, I didn't get the girl and she went out with my brother so it kinda went a bit dark after there. Also, I am the most beloved character in the franchise and Legion was entirely about me. So there.
Illidan did nothing wrong.
The Lich King (Arthas) and Illidan are the two best characters Blizzard has ever written.
🤩
Although they keep adding more previously unknown "context" to their stories, changing their history, they're already very different than when they were first written.
@@Cifer77 And this made them even greater!
Come on dude, what about the great zorval? (sarcasm)
Don't forget about Tirion Fordring... Arguably the coolest, charismatic and most inspiring. So sad he went down like that in Legion.
"Kind of wish we had more of Deathwing." You and all of us. The Cataclysm expansion that featured Deathwing as the main villain was one of the expansions that suffered from a lot of cut content and didn't get the depth it and the character deserved.
Some cliff notes answers to a few questions:
You'll be getting a lot more of Illidan if you keep watching.
Thanks for answering our questions and giving us some much needed info 😃
Well said!!!
@@DemonMaluMintus they put it back to avoid fucking with time, you don't fuck with time on a long term basis
little things you guys might want to know, at 26:14 the orc the heroes are fighting is the one the lich king killed and took the soul from and the fire guy at 29:37 is the paladin the orc was fighting next to in the cinematic that died from the poison gas and dragon fire.
Ah thank you for letting us know. Was wondering who the fire guy was 😃
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames and so far the Fire Guy (Bolvar) taking up the mantle of Lich King has been a good thing, he truly keeps the undead scourge from killing everyone. Bolvar has the strength and willpower to resist being corrupted and is a major player in the latest storylines against the latest evil.
Slight correction to that... Bolvar didn't die, the dragon fire saved him, but also changed him to that weird fire creature.
The story of Arthas becoming the Lich King is fascinating. It's like if Luke Skywalker were more pragmatic and joined the dark side in order to defeat the dark side... but then of course became the new bad guy as a result. The road to hell is paved with good intentions after all.
Interesting comparison! We love it. Others have compared him to Darth Vader’s journey but we kinda like this take more 😁
Soo basically Anakin

In chronological order:
Legion cinematic trailer
Legion - Horde Broken Shore cinematic
Legion - Alliance Broken Shore cinematic
Legion - The Tomb of Sargeras Trailer
(Legion) Kil'jaeden defeat cinematic
(Legion) Rejection of the Gift
(Legion) The Battle for Argus Begins
(Legion) Argus the Unmaker Defeat cinematic
Legion - Sylvanas and Vol'jin Cinematic (takes place right after Broken Shore but ties into the next one & the next expansion)
(Legion) Defeat of the Burning Legion: Horde Epilogue
(Legion) Defeat of the Burning Legion: Alliance Epilogue
Then it continues with the next expansion, Battle for Azeroth, beginning with the "Warbringers" (Sylvanas, Azshara, Jaina) shorts.
Here's a quick playlist for the links for just the major ones after Warlords of Draenor (except the Illidan special questline).

The Rejection of the Gift is my absolute favorite with him in it :D
@@Yutani_Crayven - Um. Broken shore -> Tomb of Sargeras? Now that's a story/lore slaughter if I've ever seen one. At the very least you're missing The Nighthold ending cinematic. Also, most of the explaining around Illidan happens in between.

😯🙃
Well, to be fair, he was driven to madness by the old gods (especially N'Zoth)
Yeah. Poor guy. Yet another tragic villain. His backstory is pretty horrific. T_T
Oh wow so the artifact used to kill deathwing was invented by deathwing? 😯 Twist!
If you like Illidan, you're gonna love the Legion cinematics, especially the "Rejection of the Gift" cinematic

Let's face it, although it's about Illidan, there has never been a better war cry for Paladins than the "The Light will forge you a new one!".
Ahhh the glory days of being 14 and being able to lose myself in Azeroth. I’m afraid the game and world has changed a lot since the beginning but I hope another game somehow captures me again like vanilla WoW did and the earlier expacs. It will forever be some of my favorite memories.

With everything going on recently, it's good to see people able to enjoy the lore for the art. Awaiting the next one.

The history of Arthas is a masterpiece

SW prequels but fleshed out better, hehe.
Not sure if someone answered this yer, but in the "Fall of the lich king" cinematic, Arthas says "let them come, frostmourne hungers", which is the name of his soul-devouring sword, and also something he used to say when you had him move around in warcraft 3.
Pretty badass 😎😁
21:45 this is my favorite cutscene. I wish it was as high quality as the new ones. Goosebumps 3 times over.
I know this is also an older video and don't expect y'all to read this but the "fire guy" who wears the lich king's crown at 29:40 , is the guy who dies from Putress (forsaken) gas attack. Is then captured and tortured in the citadel and still after all that suffering chooses to wear the crown and take control of the scourge. The greatest of sacrifice, and in comparisson they did saurfang's son kinda dirty.

😎🤟🥳
(hints: the Undead invasion on the Elves seemed pretty important, there's probably other characters who were just as impacted by it)
Your reaction to the cataclysm cinematic is like a exact copy of mine! Love it
After Wrath of the Lich King they had sort of expended the leftovers from Warcraft 3.

It’s good to know the Lich King power is in good hands 😊
Illidan... Oh great and powerful Illidan. Blessed art thou whose immortal path is to thus deliver all mortals from the Legion. For this blessing... We, are not prepared.
😈🤟
Cataclysm and even more so Lich Kings story are ones we want to do a deeper dive on once we complete our initial journey 😊
The Dwarf at 3:45 convinced me to make a hunter on launch back in 2004
The dragon, Deathwing, his body is literally falling apart due to some other stuff in the backstory. That's why he's being bolted up with armor - it's mainly to keep him together. During the boss fight, you break off and weaken a lot of the armor, and he ends up kinda just melting into a big mass of lava and molten metal with a few recognizable parts.
😯 damn!
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Lava, molten metal, and lots and lots of tentacles. Which then try to rip apart the whole world after all.

Yesss, so hopefully this means you'll be making your way towards the Azeroth cinematics.
We for sure will. Gonna take some time as that is later but we will get there with a much better grasp on things 😃
Great reaction video! Subbed for the next one.
😃🥳😎🤗☺️
I am so happy to see that you're enjoying these videos, and the work I put into that list pays off!
Can't wait for your next reaction
😎🤟🥳
If I make ask, was there any specific reason for skipping patch trailers such as Ulduar or Rage of the firelands?
awesome as always, i could sit here and post an entire list of cinematics to watch, but, ill let you just slowly climb down from the tip of the iceberg you have already discovered yourselves...
also, the cat lady is just an ordinary druid, class that can transform into different animals, depending on their own race and the goal they want to achieve
tank - bear/ turtle
melee dps - tiger/ sabertooth tiger
ranged dps - big chicken (moonkin)/ thin chicken
land travel - moose/deer/raptor
flight form - owl/ pterrodax/ eagle
swim form - dolphin/sabertooth shark/
healing - normal human form/ big broccoli tree
i probably missed 1 or two
We wanted cat lady to be more but we understand she was just nameless 🥲
Honestly, can't wait for part 2 :D
Yay! 🥳🥳
such awesome natural reaction. enjoyed going through all of these with you both. much love.
Old gods never do anything good in any lore 😥
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Generally not, no. They're usually based on Lovecrafts "Faceless"/"Old Ones" shtick.
But they do make stories interesting ^^
In the Warcraft universe, they're intrinsically bound to life. As they *ARE* "The Curse of Flesh."
Illidans first "You are not prepared"
Bethany: tzz.... try me
😂🤗
Elf chick that turns into a panther is just a run of the mill Night Elf Druid. Only things more ordinary than that are Orc Warriors and Human Paladins.
Pretty true. In the story at least. Within the world, Paladins are not suppose be just everyone and anyone. Probably more common in Draenei (blue space goats - best race) than in human society as well.
the cataclysm section left out the Rage of the Firelands cinematic which was really cool
We’ve done a little WoW before if you want to check those out .one of them is the first time we saw Wrath of Lich king ua-cam.com/play/PLzMaVaJ7UYI3luBfZUeTOgDakb2b6CumN.html more will come for sure 😎🥳
Oh damn I was just scrolling through your channel and found this (and was waiting for it tbh). First I guess :D
Keep up the good content guys!
Great videos but, no money from my wallet is ever going to BLIZZARD/ ACTIVISION bank accounts.
@@qualopec Yeah the recent news are sad and, frankly, disturbing. However, we can still cherish the masterpieces they've made. Let's hope they get rid of all the garbage and corruption in their company, if that's ever possible.
@@RoddHokusei I really hope that that will happen
😃😎 Great timing on your part! 🥳🥳
I do like how this compilation had in game cinematics included. Certainly adds a bit more context. Generally those cinematics would come at the end of a big raid tier. which would be a large content patch of an expansion.
Some of the compilations we watched were better than others for sure. This was a solid one 😅
"no king rules forever."
Sylvanas: Are you sire about that?
Do you mean " sure "?
😯😈
Nothing last ;)
Absodudely certain.
The "what'd you do?" at Illidans intro had me rolling.
I cant wait for Part 2, im not gonna lie. You guys are awesome :D
🥰🤗🥳
I DEMAND MORE!!!
please :3
More you shall have. Part 2 is Burden of Shaohao and Mists of Pandaria ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it 😃😊 And all those characters you mentioned are some of our favs ☺️

Oh hey, if you want Warcraft suggestions you should check out the short drawn animations they've done, there's Warbringers , Harbingers, and Afterlives, they're really worth a watch.
Couldn't find a play list but here's a link to one of the best ones. ua-cam.com/video/Fo7XPvwRgG8/v-deo.html
We will for sure check those out 😃
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames They actually slot into the next expansions.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I couldn't find a good play list for my recommendation, so I decided to make my own, here's a playlist of the videos. Hope it helps.

Cool reaction. And I would love to see you guys react to Diablo 3: All cinematic trailers. They are great.
Yes another set of cinematics we plan on watching or I guess rewatching as we did play the game but it’s been a long time 🙃
I love it, the lady's horrified and the dude just grins
😁😛
oh boy, this gonna be awesome :D
😎🥳
it makes me feel good to se that there are still people discovering Warcraft and able to admire it's beauty, without being tainted by the tough endgame gameplay that is at it's core today. i only hope that we are at the cusp of change, so that WoW does not die out and become little more than a footnote in gaming history.
Even if it does die gameplay wise. Lore like this should stand test of time ☺️🤩
Nice.
Illidan's story is featured in the Legion expansion.
I'm waiting for new videos
Looking forward to getting to that expansion 😊
Great reaction. Looking forward to see more of this journey and hope to see you guys start your journey in Starcraft 2's lore.
Not sure when Starcraft journey will start but that one will have to happen as well 🙂
I really loved Arthas' little 'OH SHIT I GOT MY SOUL BACK- IS IT OVER!?' moment.
Haha yeah that happens a bit in our journey 😂
I recommended you watch a shadowlands cinematic - basically afterlives cinematic
Nah I think they should go with the same pace as in this video ... It's kinda pointless to watch Afterlives if you have no clue what the hell is happening . For example the Bastion one if you know Uthers backstory it's 10000 times more epic .
@@kidwithdream1 Exactly, just watch the cinematics in order
@@kidwithdream1 We watch not because of lore knowledge of the game, but because of their emotions, and wow cinematics are the best among all other games
We will definitely watch those! But we are going in order for now. Mists of Pandaria will be next 🥳
@@raskol6354 Sure thing they are ! My point still stands tho. It's far better to watch the cinematics in some order seeing the story progress and having an idea of what is going on. Even if you dont fully understand it would make for far better experience for them and the viewers .

Welcome to the club, it's burning!!!

Jumping on back of dragon is always cool 🤩
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yeah sometimes the Blood Elves Look is kinda similar to the Look of the Paladins ^^
If you listen close you can hear, that they are calling each other Brother :)
We do remember the brother talk but didn’t know if that was a brother in arms kind of thing or actual brothers 🙃
Tirion is actually called Fordring and not Bolvar Fordragon's brother. I know the names are really similar, so I understand the confusion.
Always good reactions much appreciated
Thanks! ☺️🥳🤗
