- Ford calling this the “Puma” is about as controversial as giving one car the name of another, older car will ever be. Why? Because the original Ford Puma is something of a cult classic, a re-skinned and re-engineered Ford Fiesta produced between 1997 and 2002 that quickly established a reputation as one of the best affordable driver’s cars ever made. This Puma, though - also a re-skinned and re-engineered Fiesta, technically - is a compact crossover SUV. Gulp.
Hold that gulp though. The Puma is mega to drive. Mark explains all.

Can you say please how much is the tax road in uk for this car as you got one!!
@@vasii7431 Well, I have no clue what the road tax is in the UK, I live in Belgium. It wasn't expensive though. Because the car is pretty low on emissions, it tends to be cheaper. I love the car though. I am currently at 4.2L/100km, so it is also great for my wallet.

Thanks for your review North Eastern man. Was at the Ford main dealer the other day - not expecting that much - and had my head turned at the sight of a Puma's derriere ( that's French for bottom/rear end). It was the above model with 19" alloys in a flat grey. I get the bodywork and the sporty chassis and the engine and all that - but the bottom line, for me, is that it's a slightly jacked up Ford Fiesta which is not big enough to accomodate my 6'2" frame. I was banned, by my Daughter, for going for a Fiesta for the reason of ease of ingress . One other major factor is that it doesn't come with, and there is no space for a spare tyre; seriously, who would be caught on of our motorways , or any where for that matter, with no spare.
Going to pick up my VW T Roc this Monday. Loads more money than the Puma, with a DSG, in the most delicious pearl silver (with a black roof) and an unused spare tyre. Ingress and egress, not as good as a Touran - but better than the Puma.
One thing is North Eastern man - you really must work on that Micheal Caine cockney accent. Walk into any East end boozer and you would be found out in a matter of seconds

I’m trying to find the best vehicle to buy or lease for my Mrs. she’d like all the bells and whistles, leather interior, auto box, memory seats, adaptive cruise etc. Any make as long as it’s reliable, decent fuel returns and kitted out. Hey Gary, thanks mate, glad you like the reviews. For me the Kia Sportage is the best all-rounder on the market at the moment, but as always it depends what sort of car you’re after, how much space you need, and your budget etc.

I'm sure it will sell well in the UK, because...well, the UK loves Fords. But in the EU Ford dealerships are facing difficulties clearing their pre-COVID-19 stocks, while other manufacturers are busy introducing waiting lists (the Yaris Cross is virtually unavailable, but finding a Mazda CX-3 is no easy feat either). The blue oval just doesn't shines as well in European eyes, no matter how practical it looks.
Ironic...because these cars are European and all designed in Germany
Bloody good review again. I think it’s fugly as hell, especially it’s gawping gob, but the biggest problem is how high the load lip is for the boot. Gotta be 6-8 inches higher than some competitors the doggo says no!
I’m also driving around in a hired Focus at the mo & I get your point about the infotainment, it’s not very good.
It’ll have to keep its moistness for someone else.
The boot floor has 2 levels the top one is virtually flat load lip, and I tend to use Apple CarPlay so don’t really notice infotainment,
@@roxyskinflint22222 It’s not the boot floor, which I agree is flat, and the big storage box is brilliant, but the height of the boot lip from the ground. My pooch would struggle to jump in that high. Similar problem with new 2008 over previous gen.

Yet to drive a new car with a good infotainment system, they're all alot of faff. Miss having physical controls. Agree, not a good looking car!

These can get quite pricey. If my memory serves me right the 200PS souped up version can hit £30K.... Yaris GR money.
So question is why wouldn’t you just buy a Focus.
"Welly washer" being mispronounced in the proximity of a moist box, no?
Making such a fuss about the "Megabox" when all they've done is lose you the spare wheel! That box is really going to be useful when you get a puncture, the tyre gets shredded you're stuck on the hard shoulder in the rain, the AA or RAC are 3 hours away and all you've got in the boot is a box of muddy wellies. 😮

The Puma is a great car. I agree about the Citroen, its a nasty, vile, almost evil thing. Its offensively ugly, and its horrible to drive, woolly, vague, floaty but worse, not even that comfortable. The biggest sin though is the touch screen controls for everything.

Saw one on the road - it looks ridiculous ... I mean really stupid looking.
And the windows are soooo shallow, it's a wonder drivers can see out!! It's a 'no' from me.
