The Interior has that kind of elegant, professional, and comfy yet still simple vibe into it. Loved the review as always. Cant wait to see more of what ford can offer :)
I have a Green Ford Puma ST with performance pack in England, I emigrate to Perth in January, I'm contemplating on wether to ship it over with me if it's even possible to do 🤔
Love the look of the Puma and seriously considering buying one. The only thing I hate about fords is the way the screen looks like an added extra that has been stuck on to the dash. Other manufacturers build the screen into the dash so look miles better.
I find the screen very easy to use while the car is moving as I can balance my hand on the edge of screen so really like it where it is (and that it is slightly above the dash rather than embedded).
My son has a poverty pack model as a work car and it’s great to drive. Very zippy for a three pot motor with a turbo. Great steering and very responsive.
A good-looking vehicle. The only gripe I have is the second row door panels do look a bit "cheap". The rest I would say is good. The Mazda CX-30 will win in terms of overall fit and quality though. Probably in driving comfort as well.
I had one whilst my car was being serviced, I was genuinely impressed by it and if I didn't buy a CX30 recently. I would have seriously considered this car.....for the missus. 😉
Very details introduction, I like that. Thanks for provide images of windscreen and mentioned fully wired demister . Hope you can keep windscreen out and inside images just like what you do now .
As far as crossovers go, all of them have been boring blobs to me but the Puma really stands out. Not in the same way as the Juke does for being absolutely hideous (especially the first model). Ford has hit the styling just right and that blue colour compliments it perfectly.
Some Puma transmissions have L mode. How should it be used correctly and safely? How can you apply engine braking while descending long mountain roads? There is no possibility of manual intervention. What should be done to downshift and avoid overheating the brake pads?
Bought mine a week ago. A very well thought out SUV. I like everything about it and think Ford got it right where others failed miserably, hence me buying this one. But! Only one thing i do not like on this Puma. The high beam, if that is what you can call it. It only gives off some distant yellowish light. It just does not do it. Normal front light is fine. I can live with that given everything else is great. After all.... No such thing as a perfect Vehicle.
Nice review and a good looking car that I could mostly live with. Fuel economy sounded good until you put up the conversion figure for MPG! I did a check, and you appear to have quoted US gallons. Given this is a review for local Australian buyers, you might want to provide the imperial measurement conversion for us old codger Aussies!
The same people saying bad things about its styling are the same people that think the new Isuzu DMax is good looking..... I would definitely leave the sunroof out of the equation. I sat in it at the dealership and I liked it, however if rear space is a concern then the Escape is a better buy. Seats were very comfy.
The bright blue background on the drivers display is beyond irritating - I imagine it would get really annoying having to look at that thing everyday (sport mode looks much much better). Also, while I'm at it, the white background on the main screen is also annoying. Dark screens with bright text is always easier to read at a quick glance and less distracting in my opinion
Excellent review, Paul.👍 It is actually a rather nice little suv, certainly better looking than the boxy Tcross. Would be nice if Ford has added a bit more premium touch to the rear cabin with soft touch materials, rear directional air vents and center arm rest with cup holders, in this top spec model. BTW, Bob is not my uncle but John is and incidentally, John is a (retired) builder! 😂😂😂
Great runabout, 2nd car or probably older empty nesters?... Good height for older people too I’d guess. Will be interesting to see the longevity of a 1litre, 3 cylinder with a few k’s on it.🤔👍🏼
The front I'm still not a fan off (although I'm getting used to the look, thought it was ugly AF when it first came out). However, the rest of the car seems to be good. I can't really complain what ford has done. Also, these can run on 91 octane fuel, it just "recommended" to run on 95.
Hi Paul Are you able to make a review on the new 2021 BMW X3 20i M Sport as I’m interested in buying one just wondering if it would be possible for you to do a video on it. Would really appreciate this if it was possible Thanks Ryan
I just 'built my own' Puma ST Line of the Ford website including 2 tone paint, park assist package and that great twin sunroof..45K!!??? That's Mazda MX-30 Astina money..
Shame they have no manual trans option as the dual clutch auto is a deal killer for me. I really like it and could get past the tiny engine but not the dual clutch.
Really enjoy your reviews which I just discovered recently. What I really don't like though is that your assesment of buid quality takes 5 seconds on each review, just trying to wiggle the center console a bit. Build quality is so important and deserves a little more attention, me thinks. Otherwise, you're a very good and watchable reviewer and I guess that you've heard it a million times but I always see Seth MacFalarne in you ;-) Greetings from Austria.
I'm probably in the minority but it's hard to see someone forking out $40K drive away for the base model plus pay extra for safety equipment that's standard on other models in the class for what is really a hatchback dressed to look like an SUV. Granted I'm not the target market as a 40 year-old but still, I don't get Ford's proposition. :smh:
Nice car to drive but when you take of it rattles and vibrates for half a second driven plenty of em they all do it, it sounds awful.its a typical 3 cyl engine like all of them on the market that no engineer can get rid of.not worth the money in my opinion
Tired, tired tired old cliched comment. Other than the huge problems with the dry version of the previous model dual-clutch auto, Focus hasn’t had any major systemic faults. JD power places euro Fords quite high in the reliability index typically - higher than their main competitors very often. I also know 3 people with the previous gen Focus that are by now 6-7 years old with no issues at all other than the gearbox in one case. They’re no more or less cheaply made than any other mainstream car today (and several allegedly “premium” ones), you should just say what you actually mean and they you don’t like the brand and they’re not for you.
Hard to get excited about an SUV. It's just an appliance. Sure beats walking but after that... 72 kW/t yawn. With so many better options that are faster and cheaper with better warranties I can't see the attraction to this vehicle. If you want a Ford why not get the cheaper, more powerful and better handling Focus?
Without getting too excited, I think its sex-on-wheels for the price point. Incredible amount of driver assists. Bit sad about no AWD option but a worthy crossover competitor. I think it mimics a Baby Macan.
I brought a Puma STline X Vignale last Oct in UK with my pension lump sum from NHS. She's black and I love her. So classy and drives well. Had the sunroof put in too. Could of done with boot automatic unlock instead of massage chairs. Love heated steering wheel
Just bought an ST line V (AUS) - grey matter with black roof, as a second car. Love it. Still think the Toyota CHR has a more luxurious and quieter interior but the driving experience with the Puma is worlds apart. Better and more responsive engine, sharper steering and handling, more settled ride, and loads of important safety features (especially with the park pack). I test drove a Puma with a sunroof and while i usually go for a sunroof, I found the AC struggled on the hot QLD day we drove the tester and decided not to take it. Overall, this is a win for Ford.
@GabrielA-nf7vz mine is a late 21 st line and while I bought it used at the beginning of 2024 it's great I love driving it recently took it for a 4 hour drive great on fuel and comfortable to drive
I love my Puma but Paul- the mesh in the windscreen is so bad. It shows up in the sunlight as shiny prisms. It can show up as cloudy patches on the windscreen as if it’s dirty. It fragments headlights at night as well. Also the exterior rubber seals that start our side then go inside over the wheel hub keep detaching. I’ve been back 3 times in 9 months
Had my Puma ST-Line V for 7 months now and it's a great car to drive. Love it!
The Interior has that kind of elegant, professional, and comfy yet still simple vibe into it. Loved the review as always. Cant wait to see more of what ford can offer :)
We love Puma
Really like your reviews. You seem to have a good, sensible, balanced approach to evaluating cars. Keep up the good work 👍👍

Bought a automatic puma, enjoying it up to now, very good mpg also😊
Hi, how is it holding up after 1 year? 😁
@@mladenovic97 very good, 55 mpg, running smooth 😊
Nice review. Shame you don't get manual hybrid (155hp!) or ST versions. It's genuinely striking and should sell well.
Rented one in Noosa. It's a very nice drive. Lovely interior. Petty decent punch for a 1.0 L 3. Good driving dynamics.
Every time there's a Ford review it makes me excited to the new 2022 ford ranger
That makes two of us!
"GET ME THIS CAR MANN!!?." 'LOVE THIS COLOUR.'
Mazda need to take notice, black cladding looks stupid !
I have been waiting for you to give this car a review! Awesoooome!
Hope you like it!
I love my frosty I bought my puma in February 24 what a great car to drive great on The hwy
It looks cuter and curvier than the boxy Yaris Cross. Also looks like it has more cabin space than the Yaris Cross.
"Rawr" 😂😂😂😂🤣
Great review once again Paul🙌🔥
Cool car and cool content Paul! Something I leant to be more local: "Bob is your uncle". 😁
I love the Puma, my favourite small SUV. The ST-Line V interior feels surprisingly prestige!
Do you think it's better or worse than the Mazda CX-30?
@@CarExpertAus please do a comparison!!
My son has a poverty pack model as a work car and it’s great to drive. Very zippy for a three pot motor with a turbo. Great steering and very responsive.
Ford Puma is brilliant, have had it for 6 months and love it

Great review as usual Paul
Was great on the test drive, hoping to have my ST Line X 155 by the end of the month
Nice review Paul!
Some Puma transmissions have L mode. How should it be used correctly and safely? How can you apply engine braking while descending long mountain roads? There is no possibility of manual intervention. What should be done to downshift and avoid overheating the brake pads?
Best feature of the puma…no electric handbrake!!
Look, no black plastic cladding! 😁

i’d love one of these in that grey matter finish
It's a good CUV but I wonder if Ford SA has this on the cards for our local market. fingers crossed.
Can’t say I’m a fan of this car segment but the Puma looks pretty damn good.
The same people saying bad things about its styling are the same people that think the new Isuzu DMax is good looking..... I would definitely leave the sunroof out of the equation. Puma “RAAR” oh how I lold 😝
great review paul!
Thanks got one on order for jan/Feb on lease under recommendation 😀
Trail mode is likely just for gravel roads. Refer to the manual.
Nice little car it is more practical for single or couple but as a family car no chance.
Nice review. I have a question it is possible to take out the spare wheel and have the normal Mega Box?
Excellent review, Paul.👍

This is like the first honest and sound critique I read on a Puma review. You are so right on these points.
Great runabout, 2nd car or probably older empty nesters?... Good height for older people too I’d guess. Will be interesting to see the longevity of a 1litre, 3 cylinder with a few k’s on it.🤔👍🏼
Is it just me or do the headlights look really similar to the Ford GT?
A little bit!
No coincidence - They are actually inspired by it!
Please do a review of Ford Escape PHEV. Thank you.
Another great review. Shame about that rear leg room because it was on my short list. For the same money, a Focus would be more practical.
I’ve sat in Puma without sunroof and can confirm it is far better for headroom. So that’s something to consider.
@@Samuel-my2ik thanks - i'll definitely take it for a spin.
don't get why ford couldn't use a normal gear shifter on the focus and escape like they do in this
The front I'm still not a fan off (although I'm getting used to the look, thought it was ugly AF when it first came out). However, the rest of the car seems to be good. I can't really complain what ford has done. Also, these can run on 91 octane fuel, it just "recommended" to run on 95.
Most cars will run on 91 RON fuel, but it's an easy way to create an exit for a warranty claim if they can prove you've used the wrong type of fuel.
Is the Escape a bigger car 🚙 ?
escape is bigger and a brilliant car but quite a bit more expensive
I dont know if you guys are getting it but please have a looksee at the GWM P Series

Ordered vagnale manual 155 bhp can u do review on one plz Ordered 2022 Jan don't no when get it tho cant wait uk model
Great review ..thanks
Lots of problems with the eco boost engines. Especially the 3 cylinder variant. Great review as always.
The early ones burned coolant
The older versions on the focus and Fiestas
Not this model
I just 'built my own' Puma ST Line of the Ford website including 2 tone paint, park assist package and that great twin sunroof..45K!!??? That's Mazda MX-30 Astina money..
there's no footrest for your left foot...

Is this better than the Hyundai Kona?
is there a review of the Yarris cross coming?
Where is GWM PAO?
If they do a Puma ST they should take the 1.5 turbo from the current gen Focus
Thats exactly what they did. Optional LSD too
Hi Paul
Hi Darsh!
Bob is not my uncle. Paul is my uncle!
Hey Paul, are you going to review the Escape ST-Line as well at some point?
It is pretty much the same thing.
@@Golfr2020 Hardly the same thing. One has 120bhp the other 247bhp with awd option.
Cool lil car
Sure is!
I will get one soon :)
Any colour but white is now prestige. In other words another way to rip of the buyer.

1L 3 cylinder? Wow. That has to be the smallest engine you have reviewed. At least it gets up and goes.
It will not age as well as what the Cx30 will. Both in and out.

This would look good as a hatchback, Ford just needs to lower it to the ground.
Looks like a copy of the Fiat Bravo..
Romanian built quality
Doesnt look like a SUV though looks like a hatchback. Looks too girly for me.
This puma is outdated on the inside! Horrible plastic and poor design

just bought a Puma and this review has taught me a lot, best one yet. Thankyou!
