Hi Pete, I enjoyed your review and you answered the main reservation I had about ordering one ..... the seats. I’ve sat in them for 10 minutes in the showroom.... for me, agony! However I like the Puma and wanted the versatility of 5 doors. I now have a brand new Puma ST Line X Vignale, with the 155bhp engine. I chose this for a number of reasons. Most of the extras on your car are standard. Headlights, comfort pack, B&O even the Magnetic paint is cheaper. The seats - full leather - are really comfortable and as most of my drive is motorway it ticks all boxes. I noticed a slight lag on your video.... the hybrid takes care of that on my car. Also the boot floor goes lower than you showed, in addition to mega box, it’s huge. I am really impressed with mine, just ran it in, averaging 48mpg. Just my thoughts.... hope you don’t mind. Cheers 👍
i actually had a puma st line for a courtesy car while my focus was in the dealership and omg it was an absolute blast and the sound was amazing 5 stars for the puma. yes you was having fun

The brakes were poor and i shouldve done something with the exhaust but i often wondered when ford would bring out another. I expected a coupe but i suppose they are out of fashion and crossovers are in. If it had to be a crossover, then this is pretty good. I like it.
Great video. Just fully specified one on Ford UK, max price was £31885, also did a local Ford dealer spec and came in just under £30k as your test car. That’s becomes a different proposition altogether!

Really cool to see this very well done review Sir Pete. We don’t get the puma in the states but we do get the new bronco sport and bronco full size. The bronco sport badlands really has my attention. The bronco sport comes with a 3 cylinder engine option to or a 4 cylinder eco boost with 250hp. That green color was very cool.
Another great review! For me you hit the nail on the head with your comments regarding your ability to exploit the cars power and potential without hitting ridiculous speeds. I've an Alpina B4s and if I take it out for a fun drive, I'm constantly having to check my speed as a few seconds of throttle and I'm breaking the national speed limit. Similarly in the twisties, pushing the car to the point where it comes alive and I feel like I'm driving it, and again I quickly find myself having to ease off or I'd be breaking the limits and by some margin. Maybe I should have bought a JCW.....

Fantastic video and review Peter. I totally love the new Puma and I’ve seen some in very nice colours that really suit it. This ST seems fantastic, what a car, sounds great too 😉👌🏻
The screen in the centre I’ve just done 150 hours in teaching hours to pass a driving instructor test. I never ever needed to look at it. When I did for Spotify it was fine. I honestly can say the centre screen just disappears in your eyeline and is useful enough if ever stare at it. No problem this in extended use. Real world ownership.
Great review. Now I've got to go and review the Quaife. Why oh why do they get things wrong like the parcel shelf, lazy design. Keep it up Pedro, this review is exactly the reason I watch you channnel

An informative and enthusiastic review, well done. I realise this review is over 2 years old so I am wondering if Ford have significantly increased the standard spec of this car? The reason being I ordered a 1.5 ST in February 2023 and it has things standard that you say were optional - privacy glass, LED headlights, winter pack, B&O audio. I am surprised that a rear view camera is not standard on the ST, and to get one needs the optional 'driver assistance pack with parking' to be specified. An important point to note about adaptive cruise control is that it is not available at all on the ST model, not even as an option. Normal cruise control is naturally standard though. I have not specified the performance pack for the following reasons - my boy racer days are decades behind me and I do not intend to drive this car hard by powering out of corners etc, but I do want it to have a bit of go about it when required so the standard car will be more than good enough for me. I done my research and knew exactly what I wanted - 1.5 ST in desert island blue with driver assistance pack, so I went into my local dealer and we agreed a price of £29,800 for a factory ordered car which is due to be delivered by the end of this month.
Worth mentioning that the price is inflated due to issues with origin of some of the parts which come from the USA. Price was nearly £2k cheaper in December! Like the review though....nice one.
What's also worth mentioning is the absolute bonkers discount policy of Ford dealerships. We bought in June 2020 (from stock) a Puma StLine-X (125bhp MHEV and a ton of optional features - LEDs, B&O sound, lane assist, collision alert, fatigue alert, traffic signs alert, leather seats, heated steering wheel, mirrors, seats, windscreen, blahblahblah): starting price - 27000 EURO, VAT included; price after dealer discount - 21500 EUR (yeah, nuts!); price after Government subsidy (about 1800 EUR, because it's a mild hybrid) - 19700 EUR; price after trade in of a 2012 Ford B-Max - 14900 EUR, VAT included. Even if they hadn't accepted my old B-Max as a trade-in, 19700 EUR is still a good price for a car that looks, drives and feels the way it does. Rumour has it, the ST will cost in my country (Romania, where it is also being built) about 28000 EUR, full-spec, after Dealer discounts and Government hybrid subsidy. That is an absolute bang for your buck! But yeah, that parcel shelf is absolute shit. It's like Ford engineers thought to themselves: "we'll make it 95% modern Ford and 5% '70 British Leyland". Funny enough, they put the same type of parcel shelf on the Mustng Mach-E. Idiots.
Ford have for years produced great drivers cars! totally functional and usually a great balance of comfort and handling over the generations. That's why the term Fast Ford is so well known. However, £35K for a 'SUV' Fiesta wow. Doesn't even have an RS badge! But it clearly will put a smile on your face. Great vid as always Pete.
Great video, asides from a distracting amount of ads. I had an original 1.7 Puma which I loved. Imagine this running gear in that! Sigh...My neighbour hast the ST Line X First Edition 155bhp in white, very eye catching and they're delighted with it. Ford needs to give the treatment to the Kuga now...
We ordered the st line x 155 and specced it almost to the max. My mrs wanted this but we cant justify it on price, use and the point you bring up about the seats and hips is bang on.
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres are the best EVER tyres I have ever put on a car, I had them on my 640D Gran Coupe, now have put back to Dunlop run flats, as I am selling her this year and the ride has completely changed, even in Comfort+ it is still very slightly harsh! Cant wait for the next car....either M760li or Porsche Panamera 4 Ehybrid Sport Turismo!!!
Always loved the styling of the original. Not sure on this bt then I'm not so much of a crossover fan. Glad it still has character, I never managed to drive the puma, but there was one on the drive of the house over the road from me for about 2 years. I loved just looking at it.
I bought a Fiesta ST2 new, best car I ever owned. Had the blue paint with protection, cruise. 182 HP, now that is a silly price. I paid less than £23k. That's over priced.
I get the impression that you like this car😄 I love green so I have got to like this car and you gave your usual honest review and loads of people are going to like what you have said so I would say there may be a surge in sales for the S T. Well done Peter 👍👍👍
Great review I've had 2 original Pumas in the past and love them but was upset the new one was a crossover. I must say the ST does look good in mean green sounds like an excellent car if you can live with the small passenger space but does seem overpriced vs a focus ST
Just caught up with this one. Even pleased to hear you liked the Yeti of which I also did. The review was very comprehensive as usual, it is interesting to hear of some of the points you like, pan roof and don’t like, infotainment screen, both of which I have the opposite opinion. I must be one of the few who didn’t like the jittery, understeering original coupe model. The quality shows through and I will be ordering an ST Line X auto with a couple of packs. Don’t need the driving fun as the R53 caters for that.
i found that the driver assistance pack doesnt actually give you adaptive cruise control because of a similar reason for the fiesta ST in that the intercooler is a bit too big for the radar to be put in
Hi Ped Yet another great review, and pleased to see Ford have not lost their touch in providing a Drivers Car. 🤗🤗 superb engine, manual box, lsd, and proper tyres, what’s is there not to like. Well the price😂😂 Takes me back to my Escort Mexico, which was a special order in that identical Green hue. Ack in those days I wan not concerned about being noticed.😏😏👮♀️
thanks for another fine review, like others i would like to understand the different experience between the fiesta and puma..apart from the slightly larger packaging. I have seen one or two about and the do look very convincing.

@@PetrolPed after seeing ur face at the start of ur puma st review when u put it into sports mode lol, that made my mind up,was great review an really helped me choose the puma st in mean green over the st line X in grey matter, the colour looks amazing even if some people say it looks like it Kermit the frog lol,it's sporty and quirky looking an very practical, think this be my last petrol car before change to electric in a few years once the charging infrastructure is sorted by 2030 lol, then get something like the Kia soul ev that is cool and quirky looking once I change to electric, hope this puma lasts a good ten years though 💚👌👍🏴
Great review cheers, lovely looking car especially in that mean green, I'm going to see parks ford about trading in my Sportage early an get one of these brand new in mean green with the performance pack added 💚👌👍
My daughter wants one of these in the matt grey colour - she has a Fiesta ST at the moment so seems like a logical upgrade! I love the shape - a bit Mecan looking at some angles which is no bad thing!
After watching your Review on the New Puma, I decided to get the ST Line X 125 Puma Mild Hybrid, although a step-down from my previous car - Fiesta ST 2017 with a Stage 1 Revo package added, I find the Puma an utterly amazing' replacement, with a bit of OOOmmpph without the thirsty fuel consumption and there's no Cables to endure with to charge the car up - thanks Petrol Ped :))
Fair comment. Lots of choice out there for £35k.....It seems steep for a Ford. If an SUV is a priority there is the VW T Roc, although that is a bit plasticky inside. My personal choice might be the Skoda Karoq. Better interior than the VW ( both in terms of quality and appearance), plus allegedly nicer to drive and more practical for family use...... There are also the Hyundai and Kia offerings, but they're a bit....er... Korean. Good warranties and reliable though, if that's a plus for you. I do wonder about the wisdom of spending £35k on a petrol car now though, with electric likely to take-off big style in the next couple of years. I was recently speaking to a mate of mine whose brother is a sales guy at a Peugeot dealer, and he said that when Peugeot re-hash the 208, 2008 and 308 ranges in the next couple of years, there will be NO i.c. options offered anymore, as the full 208/308 range will be 100% electric..... Might other car makers be looking to do similar I wonder? The car market is very much trend driven these days, and a pricey petrol car may not be such a good buy if the residuals take a huge hit.....
Can't see many paying that. Plenty of dealers offering significant discounts where you will pay around £28k for performance pack, mean green paint, driver assistance pack and electric tailgate.
Boot floor was set at its highest point so you made the boot space look smaller, why ? I have a ST puma and can get plenty in the boot as much as my focus.
Hi everyone! I’m very pleased with my 1.5 3 cylinder 182hp 8 speed automatic focus ST Line X (only available as 150hp variant now) * glad I ordered when I did! Even the 1 litre has 125hp. There are a lot of very familiar features across both cars, however, I could not fit my crutches in the boot of the puma, and the rear leg room is far better for passengers. I have to say in hindsight I should have done more research about the seats. I’m not a big lad (5ft tall 40 inch chest), but I find them a bit narrow and even though I have adjusted the bolstering I do get back ache after a long journey. I have driven 3 Vauxhall Astra over the last 9 years without an issue.
Great video Peter, I wasn't sure about the new Puma when it was first released however I must admit it's growing on me! A shame that it's so expensive of course... Ford do seem to have upped their game across the board in recent years, and whilst the interiors are often a bit of a let-down, the way they make a car handle and feel takes some beating imo. They've been doing that for years, my Mk2 RS is a classic example of that, and after nearly 9 years of ownership, I absolutely love it!
I’ve never experienced a Q diff. I remember your factory visit. Hubnut also says the same, sometimes less power is more. The utilisation of engine gives you a fun drive. Looks a fun car indeed, I’m on the same page as you regarding coatings. I know 5k isn’t a huge amount, however, that will always work better in your pocket than someone else’s bank account. Can’t see the seat bolsters lasting too much, bit of a weakness in the ole Xr3i and ‘eccy’ RS Turbo. They went tired on higher used cars, ahh, retro memories lol.
Another Great video. Thank you. That price point £31k+. That's 3 series territory for what used to be called a boy racer. Good to see Ford keeping the sporting heritage though.
Love the review as always Ped. Like the car love the colour, but and its a big but. As you know I brought the new Fiesta ST-3 1.5 200PS last year same spec as the Puma but without the roof light. The price included the performance pack which was then included in the price, and the b&o sound system. Everything you got in the Puma bar the roof. Price including Vat £22,016.87 that is one big price point differential. So which one would you buy!
I've just ordered a Puma st with sunroof and auto rear hatch in red. After discounts I paid £28.500. So with £2000 of extras. I don't think that's bad.
Hey Ped! Love the Fiesta ST and may well consider it for my next car. I am part of the haters for Crossovers and you are talking GR Yaris money here which is equivalent to the circuit pack version. No competition............
Well done Pete great review it seems ford are on the money with this one. I still find it amazing a 3 cylinder 1.5 can produce 200 ps, when I drive a 6 litre V8 which pumps out 360 hp. Technology ahh. Good stuff keep your reviews coming loving them. Cheers Dave from downunder DFDU 😎
Anyone got one WITHOUT the slip diff?? just wondering if it’s a lot worse? Tho it’s supposed if u haven’t driven one with the performance pack u wouldn’t know

These new performance Ford’s are so much better than their predecessors. This looks a great car too, but not in green for me. If you don’t like the ‘iPad’ infotainment screen then you won’t like the new A-classes. But that’s a story for another day. Great review 👍

Amazing 👍 You’ll love it 👌
@@PetrolPed thanks, it’s amazing so far, such good value for money I think, keep up the good work!
Got one on order from Hendy Ford Southampton in Grey matter. The recaro seats have been replaced by Ford performance seats.Personally I think the LSD should be standard spec.
A friend of mine had an original Puma 1.7 and spent a lot of time in that car so looking forward to compare my memory of that against the ST line
Heated seats and steering wheel along with the B&O sound system are all standard.
You can also push the plug in the Megabox if it use to
Great review. Now I've got to go and review the Quaife. Why oh why do they get things wrong like the parcel shelf, lazy design. Keep it up Pedro, this review is exactly the reason I watch you channnel
Puma is growing on me now maybe next time bit out my price range should be getting a go in a puma st in the summer. Got my st 2 5 door with performance pack now and Its amazing engine great fun to drive still running it in atm but it's still fast already. Great vid this one
Not sure to be honest 😬
Idiots.
Great review. I've added a diff to my Mk3 Focus RS and it's so much fun and better still it doesn't affect the warranty.
That’s interesting. I’m thinking of doing the same to my Mk3RS. Did Ford dealer install easily? Price?
Ford have for years produced great drivers cars! totally functional and usually a great balance of comfort and handling over the generations. That's why the term Fast Ford is so well known.
However, £35K for a 'SUV' Fiesta wow. Doesn't even have an RS badge! But it clearly will put a smile on your face.
Great vid as always Pete.
Puma is easily one of the best looking small cars out there at the moment, and I love the colour - reminds me of the green the X1/9 was released with.
Ads not placed by me. Sadly I’ve got to make a living some how 😬
We ordered the st line x 155 and specced it almost to the max. My mrs wanted this but we cant justify it on price, use and the point you bring up about the seats and hips is bang on.
Enjoy the new car 👍
Don’t need the driving fun as the R53 caters for that.
i found that the driver assistance pack doesnt actually give you adaptive cruise control because of a similar reason for the fiesta ST in that the intercooler is a bit too big for the radar to be put in
Don’t normally like Fords particularly hideous Mondeos or indeed crossovers but those Pumas stand out and look high end
Hi Ped
Yet another great review, and pleased to see Ford have not lost their touch in providing a Drivers Car.
Great vid.... nice looking car ...... I have a Mk4 focus ST and I can honestly say the seats are supremely comfortable even after a 9 hour drive .... and I’m 6ft 2’ .... keep up the great work keeping us entertained 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I love your enthousiasm. And a very nice little car indeed. Gr from the Netherlands
Thanks Marcel 👍
Hey ped, just ordered a puma st in mean green on PCP finance, gone for brand new one but just standard no added packs, should be about sept/Oct this year expected delivery can't wait, hope it's still fun to drive without the performance pack, don't do track days but normal driving an sometimes a bit of spirited when roads are quiet and good weather, hope I can get my mountain bike in back with seats down even if need take a wheel off lol 👌👍🏴
That sounds perfect John. You are going to love it. Still one of my favourite cars I’ve driven 👍
I own a Fiesta ST PE and am wondering whether to swap for a bit more space/practicality but same driving experience 🤔
Top review as always 👍
My PCP comes to an end soon on my Fiesta ST line and cant decide between Fiesta ST and PUMA ST but I think the PUMA is the best choice .
My daughter wants one of these in the matt grey colour - she has a Fiesta ST at the moment so seems like a logical upgrade! I love the shape - a bit Mecan looking at some angles which is no bad thing!
The grey she likes is called grey matter.
That is great to hear 👍
Not a fan of 3 cil cars! But it looks good and you are right about the exhaust!
Ford Puma was from an age when Ford made some interesting cars
It’s the price that gets me! £35k for a Ford Puma!
In a world where the new Defender is £80k.... nothing surprises me!
they drop in price massively after year or two
£35 grand? Not for me! They call something 'sporty' so they can hike the price.
Not a fan of SUVs, but it seems to be a very nice car, with character. Great review!
They've been doing that for years, my Mk2 RS is a classic example of that, and after nearly 9 years of ownership, I absolutely love it!
or aston martin!!?
I’d love an ST! Currently looking to change and torn between a Puma and T-Roc
Great review Pete as am seriously considering one of these I know that road well is great fun very early in the morning - just look out for deer,😀
Love the car, great video! You definitely sold it to me especially being a Ford nut but unfortunately a bit out of my price range, maybe one day 🤞
I’ve never experienced a Q diff.
Great review Pete, I hope to get my hands on Puma ST soon!
They are brilliant 👌
Puma is starting to grow on me it's one of them cars great video. Love to see you do a review and road test if the i20n when its out and available?
I’d love to get my hands on one 👍
I got my Puma ST Line from Hendy Portsmouth a few weeks ago, absolutely in love with it!
I'm a ford fan love these seen alot on the road nice to see.a.good.looking modern car
That would be telling 😂
nailed it, exactly what put me off was the price, currently have a mk 7 Fiesta ST and was interested in this but that kind of money is just obscene
I've just ordered a Puma st with sunroof and auto rear hatch in red. After discounts I paid £28.500. So with £2000 of extras. I don't think that's bad.
Great review. Can you tell me where the road is where you turned right, up the hill and twisty bit. Is it near good wood ?
It's Harting Hill, and yes eventually it takes you to Goodwood!
Sush!!! .... don’t tell everybody the location of these fantastic roads 🤭

Re: the under floor storage. I'm guessing it has a plug and drain? That way it can be used as an icebox for drinks. _Chin-chin!_ 🍻
Oh yeah 🍾🥂
that 'll be for letting the water leak water out.
Anyone got one WITHOUT the slip diff?? just wondering if it’s a lot worse? Tho it’s supposed if u haven’t driven one with the performance pack u wouldn’t know
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. The first Ford Puma In Right hand Drive
Great review!
I also think you win the prize for most UA-cam Ads in one video!! 🙄😂
I spend the $9,99 per month for no adds. I pay for that from Google Rewards. If one were to answer a few questions each day, then youtube is free from commercials and free from my pocket.
Sorry. That’s Google not me 😬
@@PetrolPed absolutely Ped!
I think they must have been having one of those days as even my daughter made mention of how many adverts were in the videos she was watching!!
I've seen one that's been completely murdered out, and wrapped matt black, it looked absolutely ridiculous, but so cool, so cool infact, i followed it for a while. Really really cool looking little car i think
I saw one the same colour on the motorway yesterday. Proper looker. Another good video👌🏻
Thanks 🙏🏻
Great review & I love the design of the ST. I wonder what the Fiat 500X Sport & this Ford Puma would do as a showdown.
This would win 👍
First time I've watched one of your reviews I would just like to say a big thumbs 👍 enjoyed it very much keep the good reviews coming car sounds amazing
Thanks, will do! Make sure to Subscribe and welcome to the channel 👍
These new performance Ford’s are so much better than their predecessors. This looks a great car too, but not in green for me. If you don’t like the ‘iPad’ infotainment screen then you won’t like the new A-classes. But that’s a story for another day. Great review 👍
I have just gone from an A Class AMG premium Line which I bought new in 2019 to the Puma ST, I really like the simplicity of the Puma infotainment system
@@terrencestimson1784Hello, do you still have the car and are you happy about it? I also ordered one but didn't came yet. Should we also do break-in procedure for these engines? They say these engines came ready from factory but I couldn't believe that because it's both high tech and sensitive engine
@@poormanstrackframe I had the car for a year and sold it, fortunately I did not have any of the known issues that people were having. I enjoyed it but missed the build quality of other cars I had. I came from Mercedes to Ford and went to BMW. Personally the days of running in cars have long gone, just take it easy for a few 100 miles and make sure its up to temperature before ragging it. Enjoy the car
Looking to change cars and you’ve sold me even more
A test drive will tip you over the edge 😜
My Mrs loves these, but I expected more room wise to think of it as a family car contender. I think the LSD as it’s an ST should come as standard. The pilot 4S tyres and that LSD make a great combo. Great review as always 👍🏻
Absolutely delighted to know that it comes with a sunroof.
Great review on the Puma st dose look very nice but I noticed that the new fiesta dose have that this hasn’t what I can make out in the video what dose really nice to the stereo is a subwoofer in the boot I know u can’t fit one bec of the fish tank in the back 😂 but they could put one on the side or somewhere and the green I think is the best choice it’s a lovely colour but years ago normally green cars always give u bad luck they say not sure 🤔 y tho but best car review on the channel love watching his channel he say how it is good work👍👍👍
Wasn’t aware of the sub woofer. Sure you could fit an aftermarket one if you wanted 🤔
@@PetrolPed that’s ok not important yes IM sure u could but love watching your videos be good to see your review on the Toyota Yaris gr well done 👍
