Shedding Skin is easily one of the most underrated Pantera tracks, it's so damn good
great workout song
@@specter1001 yes, it really is
I ran 6 miles every week day in 2006 and 2007 to Shedding Skin at some point in my run. It was one of the first songs on my MP3 player in my college years.
agreed!
Far Beyond Driven is a great workout album period.
Pantera is still alive in all of us!
Pantera will never die
They are living trough me!
Took me a decade just to kick Dime outta my muscle memory! 8P
The older I get the more I love 'em. Saw 'em in '95, never forget.
Trve
Pantera never did 10’s off the trendkill album which breaks my heart. One of dime’s best solo’s ever❤️
I second that notion; and “Suicide Note PT 1” would have been glorious live as well! Two of my favorite songs off that album. Third being “Floods” which obviously they did play live.
Unfortunately not. However, it was in the dragonball z Broly movie
10's always struck me as having something of a Nirvana influence, especially the clean tone parts at the beginning. It's got that same not-all-that-heavy-but-very-dissonant vibe.
They should do this song on this tour
Love that song!!
"I'll cast a shadow" played live June 29 2001 Grand Rapids, MI. Extreme Steel Tour. I even remember when the birthday cake was brought out for Phil that night. Awesome show, only time I ever got to see Pantera. Kerry King came out for "Fucking Hostile" as well. That night still lives on in me 20 years later.
I went to the show on the 27th of June in WV that tour and they played I'll cast a shadow there as well. Anyone who saw that tour will never forget it. Pantera, Slayer, Morbid Angel, Static X, and Skrape. Fucking amazing!! Also saw Slayer in a small club in NC ten days before that. God I miss those days
@@edwhite2794 dude look at the fcking names there awesome
That’s fuckin cool man Im glad you have that epic memory to cherish, that really is cool.
I went to show in Nampa Idaho on same tour, after reinventing the steel as a matter of fact. Only time i seen Pantera as well. I would have been devastated had I never had the chance to see them
It’s great seeing Phil in such high spirits and acknowledging the pantera catalog in this way, you never hear him talk much about it
maybe cause the pantera gents he had misunderstandings with are now dead
Phil said he thinks about Pantera everyday and misses all of them dearly. Irreplaceable type of people that unfortunately leave your sphere. It sucks happens to all of us.
He didn’t have the balls to ask him about Power Metal at the end. 🤣
Thats true. I woulda waited to ask him at the end. Lol. But in honesty they did play some of the power metal songs in the early 90s.
Too bad cause that song rips! I'll give you all I've got!!!!
He talked about Power Metal in another video. It was songs he couldn't really perform live haha
@@thetribalist6923 do u have the link? Id like to hear him talk about that alvum. I dont get why they try to act like it doesnt exist. Power Metal was bad fuckin ass
@@Beelzebubba2823 I'll see if I can find it! It's one of the recent interviews with Revolver.
Cant blame phil for not remembering what hes played live. Dude pickled himself pretty well during those years.
Thank you for calling that out. Glad he recognizes he's on camera doing an interview right now...barely.
They definitely played most songs from their repertoire. That was so awesome about Pantera, they seldom played an identical playlist and often they would slide in a few surprises, covers, rare songs etc. Just legends. I miss them!!!!
Well Dying Twice Will Do That To You.
True
Pickled 😂
Great Southern Trend Kill has never left my car
Lol same
Funny that he's not sure if they played "floods" live... that one evil-looking live recording is legendary, y'all know which one I'm talking about
Koreans were the mf luckiest person on earth
I remember seeing them play floods on the extreme steel tour.
Best gig
"Smoke Heroin"
I assume that must've been sarcasm.

Phil singing the The Great Southern Trendkill made my day LOL
he did it twice back in the day but... it was a little bit awful
ua-cam.com/video/kYKKKSQDMAI/v-deo.html
What was he saying the reason was? He over sang it?
@@tylertass9983yeah, too much vocals. No breathers, very demanding screams.. constant air demanding singing in other words
Phil Anselmo should voice one of the main characters in the inevitable Grand Theft Auto VI. And the Revolver dude looks like a Steve Buscemi from a parallel universe.
To me he looks like steve bushemi & dwayne from the office. Lol. But rock and roll versions. Lol
@@jasonncoxx5837 he looks like Steve Buscemi in Airheads!
Can we start a petition for this
More of this please... we already lost two members goddamn it. Rex and Phil's stories need to be heard and their history needs to be cataloged before we all blink and don't have the opportunity to anymore.
Dimebag was a genious
i miss Pantera so much ... R.I.P. Vinn & Dime
Hearing 10s live would've been awesome
yea one of my favorites, i still jam that song
@@jespertin691 Same
@@jespertin691 same here!! “Suicide Note PT 1” would have been awesome live as well! At least they played “Floods” on multiple occasions.
I can say with 100% certainty Pantera did in fact play “Floods”. The year was 2000 and I saw them at the Albuquerque Convention Center. One of the greatest concerts in my life.
Sandblasted Skin was on 101 Proof.... their LIVE album.
They also played it on Live at Dynamo album
@@KaddysJamKave he’s saying that they played it live on the live album. And on dynamo, too.
Never did it...
Phil is shot to hell. He never REALLY got sober. Not quitting weed and alcohol is not "getting sober"... It's too bad.
My favorite track on 101 Proof.
I'll cast a shadow was played over 50 times on the RTS tour
Heroin
And floods was played regularly on that one as well. 10s was never played and there is a bootleg or two where shedding skin was played. TGST was played barely once or twice
Yeah his memory of that tour is clearly off. Pulled out a nice fat joint for Floods hearing it the first time live. The best
Lol yeah. 53 according to setlist.fm
I'll Cast A Shadow is killer. That whole album is - dark heavy wicked groove metal.
That is my funeral song. My wife might not be onboard, but I LOVE that one.
They did play it live too just saw that vid b4 this
@@anthonybryan1961 yes they definitely did there is vid footage of it. Let's be honost I don't think we can entirely rely on Phil's account of what was going on during a Pantera show back then. He was kinda In another headspace then hahaha
Love the riff on I'll Cast A Shadow, it's sounds old school but much heavier.
It Makes Them Disappear intro is the darkest groovest riff ever
This is gold. Every Pantera fan listening to this knowing they played songs many times Phil said they didn’t. Haha. Love you Phil
Little hazy after all these years lol . Love you brother
Yeah he was probably in a lot of drugs when he played those obscure songs he doesnt even remember
Probably a lot of drugs but when you do thousands of fucking live shows how would you possibly remember that and you're probably get pissed every night and won't even remember
Him and Rex are hazy memory wise, but still awesome dudes
Hard Lines and Sunken Cheeks, 25 Years and Shedding Skin are my favorite tracks off of FBD
Dude same
Definatly played floods !! Phil said "if youve got any acid now is the time to drop it" then floods started , never thought i would here that live ... amazing
It's great getting this much phillip in one week. Thanks dudes! LORD UNMATCHED!
All day brother! 👊

“And again I say”
Pantera was the second band that I saw live in concert. They came to my tiny Canadian town in 1992, opening for Killer Dwarfs and Skid Row. I quit a new part time job just to go to the show. The arena was near empty when Pantera came out; there might have been a couple hundred people near the stage. Naturally, they opened with Cowboys from Hell and it sounded just like on the album, minus the rhythm guitar track. Although the crowd was small, the energy was right and the band was shredding. When Pantera left the stage, my friends and I left the venue. We hung out where the tour busses were parked and got to meet and talk briefly with the band members, except Phil. They seemed like a great bunch of dudes. It's still my favourite live show that I've seen. Long live Pantera! RIP, Diamond and Vinnie!
I feel honored to have seen them play "Drag the Waters" when I saw Pantera in 1996 at LJVM Coliseum (Winston-Salem, NC). As they started playing the intro, the guys suddenly broke into "Mississippi Queen" for a few bars. Damn...the memories!
Wow! Dra the waters is my absolute favourite! Especially the new version with more bass.
I would have loved to see Pantera play 10’s and The Underground in America. I love those songs. For the record, Pantera played Floods twice that I now of. The first is when I saw them February 2, 2001. 3 weeks before my 20th birthday in San Jose, CA. Which was such an awe inspiring experience for me because I was/still am a guitarist influenced by Dime. I was about 30 feet from the stage as Pantera played Floods and all I could do was stare at Dime playing every note. I felt like Dime took me to school that night. The second, that I watched, was a show in Seoul, South Korea that was released on a DVD bootleg from the Reinventing The Steel tour. Pantera had tons of songs they either never played live or only played 5 or 10 times live. That was the crazy thing about seeing Pantera live. You never got enough deep cuts.
After hearing him say what he said about trendkill, I wonder if the logic was similar for underground in America- maybe it would have been too hard on his voice? Dunno, but I'm with you, that song is one of my favorites and I wish it would've gotten more love even today
Pantera has done "I'll Cast A Shadow".
They did it in Korea, great intro speech too
UA-camrs know what’s up. Ageless and timeless for fucking ever. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Yeah I saw them do this in Atlanta.
@@mfdalessio yep, at the Tabernacle. I was there! Went backstage after and then rode over to the Cheetah with them for the after party. Good fuckin' times!
@@mfdalessio actually come to think of it, I think "...Shadow" was the last song of the night.
13 Steps to Nowhere one of the best Pantera songs in the entire discography
Ha I remember seeing pantera at Hammerstein ballroom and he literally started “I’ll cast a shadow” over like 2x until the crowd had a pit big enough to his liking. AND They also played “floods” that night. Lol amazing show. I wish Phil remembered! Haha
Lewiston Maine same exact thing. I bet he did it every night on the tour.
@@1TYSL was that the Pantera White Zombie show?
Morbid angel, nothing face, and soulfly.
@@buzzkillodium I saw Pantera/White Zombie at Roseland Ballroom. The one thing that stood out above the rest that night was White Zombies Guitar sound. It definitely sounded like Dime let them use his rig.
Floods live. Amazing
Great Southern Trendkill album so underrated
It’s a metal masterpiece.
My favorite pantera album
@@Pantallica5FDP mine also, Remember when it dropped in 96, blew me away it did
@putalawea equisde 👍
@putalawea equisde Absolutely true. 🤘
They technically did play Great Southern Trendkill live but it was like the Demo version of it at a New Year’s Eve show and I’ll Cast A Shadow they played it a few times. at least from the bootlegs I saw
Good call. There's also a bootleg called trendkillers from hell. It was from 1996 in Japan. The middle section of cowboys from Hell where they normally play cat scratch fever, they did the first verse and chorus for trendkill. That's the only other time I've heard them jam that.

I’m proud of the fact that I recognize and can hear In my head every song he mentioned
I want a whole movie with Phil absolute main character!
that would be awesome..
Metal Grasshopper is close
@@clintmullins8670 that was awesome! I loved that show.. It should have more episodes.

I can't help but feel that Phil was working on his recovery or on house arrest when that was filmed 😆💯
@@clintmullins8670 I am not sure when it was made. But Phil was like early 2000's he was on recovery from his drug addiction, perhaps 2005 or so, from that time he's been clean of the hard drugs for sure.. I think this was made when he was already doing better...
Phil can sometimes be difficult, but he’s a huge part of my teens and twenties and I’ll always be on his side.
I started high school in the early nineties and Pantera has been my favorite band since then. Dime was the greatest metal guitarist ever. And those things won't change as long as I'm alive.
@@jasonlowmaster I was 16 when this record came out. My car was loaded with Rockford Fosgate subs and mids/highs and a powerful Punch amp, and THIS was what I blasting in the parking lot as I left school.
@@recentlybeheaded That's awesome. When I started college, I installed a sound system in my car at the time that was worth more than the car itself and I was always blasting this band for everyone to hear. Good times.
So was mine! Great fucking time to be a fan of any genre of music, fuck the 60s, screw the 70s, piss on the 80s. The 90s kicked ass 🤘🤘🤘
If there is one song that makes me want to pull over and get out of my car and tackle a pine tree it's 25 years.
This
Well said 🤘🏻
Dude, me too.
My favorite song is Cemetery Gates it makes me want to go kill somebody.
One of the baddest songs WITHOUT a Dime solo, that says a lot. The lyrics are pretty powerful.
I'm suprised he doesn't remember playing floods or I'll cast a shadow live before, especially shadow because Anselmo would always cut that song short during the intro to yell at the crowd for not being rowdy enough lol
Floods surprised me cuz that's easily a top 5 pantera song
I saw them play floods on the Black Sabbath reunion tour in SoCal
Methadone is a hell of a drug
10s is my favorite Pantera song of all time
Live in a Hole was my introduction to Pantera. Killer riff
That one note just comes out blasting and pummels you!
I am so happy this video exists
0:23 Phil: "It did not get the reaction that we would hope".
Are you kidding me? Good friends & a bottle of pills was a MASTERPIECE🔥🤘😈!!! And that intro.... Oof! The bass on the track was just absolutely filthy good. I don't understand why people didn't like that song live???
Maybe where they placed it in the set didn’t work, and people didn’t know how to move to it.
@@HammyGiblets I see what you're saying. Totally understandable. But, It still saddens me that... That track didn't get a lot of love like the others on the album did.
Hard Lines, Sunken Cheeks was played Live in Chile 1998... my fav song!!
Yesterday Don't Mean Shit. Wow.
Vulgar Display was my workout top pick while spending 10 years in prison. Thanks Pantera 😊.
Was waiting to hear about "Where You Come From". Probably my favorite Pantera song. I know I'm likely in the minority here. To me, that song is so full of that swagger for which they were well known, that despite having heard many of their other hits growing up-- I became instantly enamored with them when I heard it for the first time on Dee Synder's Strangeland Soundtrack. They were a force to be reckoned with in their heyday. Thanks for the music, y'all.
RIP The Abbott Bros.
This is actually my favorite Pantera tune as well. lol I feel like it has every element of what Pantera was from each era.
" Hey Phil, instead of talking about any of your current bands or any bands you've signed to housecore, let's talk about a (admittedly great) band you abandoned almost 2 decades ago, because it will get more clicks ." 😆 But even more seriously, I still got love for Pantera and the accounts that only Phil can give.
25 Years has the best fucking Dimebag opening riff IMO. It never leaves your mind. And yet you never remember exactly what the song was you heard it in.
Some of there best song were never played live :( Like uplifting and drag the waters are incredible
Never did "I'll Cast A Shadow"...... That song was done live. It's one of my favorite Pantera songs. It kicks ass and the live version was fucking killer
Phil's explanation for Great Southern Trendkill was hilarious
Regular People and Living Through Me, two of my favorite songs and Pantera probably never played them live.
You did Shedding Skin in Japan, I have the bootleg
Yes its in the internet
And "ill cast a shadow" in almost the whole steel tour

10's is my favorite song off of The Great Southern Trendkill.
Played many of these songs live .
I was at that Illigals show in Japan. Just before COVID. Feb 2020. The Japanese really know their shit! One of the most active crowds I've ever been a part of.
Phil is such a lovable guy after all people can change and learn from their mistakes and grow. It's called evolving. I've been a fan of Pantera since I was in the 6th or 7th grade I'm a senior in high school and I'm about to graduate and down and Pantera are some of the many bands that keep me going. Pantera literally save my life especially from attempted suicide (twice).
Metal never dies, and neither do you. Stronger than all!
he went through times where he was so hard to listen to, but nowadays it seems he's much more laid back, relaxed, and even more humble. It's a good look for him, I think.
Having listened to Pantera for quite a while, they have inspired me to always push to be heavier and groovier in my music.
i remember when they played "Slaughtered" at the RIP Party @Hollywood Palladium before it was even released,, Brutal!
Phil..... my man , You did I'll cast a shadow with Pantera In soul south Korea in 2001 , You love that song.
I remember seeing them play the floods live and it was fkn epic!
I saw Pantera many times. The second-to-last time I saw them was in early 2001. That was the only time I heard them play "Floods". I believe they also played "I'll Cast A Shadow" at that show.
Songs that I never heard live that I wish I could have:
Heresy
Hollow
25 Years
Drag the Waters
10's
It Makes Them Disappear
Floods I can confirm was played on the 20 May 2001 in Perth, Western Australia. I will never forget watching Dimebag play that guitar solo, it is one of my cherished moments in life to see it played live. Definitely my favourite guitar solo.
I was at the brissy show on that tour. Absolutely incredible night and Phil was completely off his chops that night and fell off the stage towards the front row 😂

I can confirm that Hard Lines and Sunken cheeks was played in Fort Wayne, IN in 98. And Floods in Chicago in 01
We need to hear Live in a Hole and Regular People live so bad!!!!
There are some Pantera songs that should not be attempted. Regular People is one of them. Nothing against the Illegals, but they would butcher it.
For sure! Those are two songs I never heard them play live. Same with "Mouth For War". I saw them four times and they never played it!
Regular people woulda been badass live. I woulda love to hear that. Same with 10s

The Sleep. One of the best solos ever.
didn't he already answer this in the previous video? Also, he barely remembers what they DID play. He doesn't remember playing Floods and it's one of the best live videos I ever watch.
His facial expressions at the end of that song played I think in South Korea... Man... that was just pure evil, really badass. He's probably the most intimidating musician, and there are a lot of black metal musicians who need Corpse paint to be evil(I'm not talking about Mayhem, Dead or Euronymous... They were on another planet and they were completely mad). Phil's just Phil. He's also a friendly and nice guy, and very humble.
