Reuploading this for quality is a testament to how hardworking and deserving Scott is. Definitely shows dedication. We appreciate all the time and effort you put into these, Scott.
The subtle changes to the poliwrath sprite that makes it look "happy" is so great I love it. Huge fan I've watched so many videos now lol. Never give up you're a great poketuber

I have to admire your dedication to making content you're happy with. Personally, sleep effects are something I might use early-game, but I usallly drop them later if I don't have a strategy for them (like pairing it with Dream Eater)
Ah, so much of your style, Scott to make your videos as documentaries, your scientific analysis and your ideas are always an interesting spot to listen to and see play out. This video is a true triumph of your ever growing abilities.
I still would've loved to see you go for Jolteon over Flareon so Polywrath could've taken advantage of Ninetale's tail whip and plowed through the champion much more consistently. Other than that, extremely impressive that you did all this extra quality work! Easy subscribe!
Thank you for doing this. I love Poliwrath, and seeing you use Hypnosis far more with it than Hypno, despite being able to two shot somethings easily, just made me so annoyed. Showed me though, with a playthrough where Hypnosis was barely used except the Slowbro, which I'll more than agree with is needed. You did good, and your videos are always entertaining to watch or have in the background
As crazy as reuploading a video to just try use a single pokemon move less is, I am very happy you dd. Your summation of everything was pretty spot on and I feel it improved the video. Your ability to learn and improve in general is terrific though. I think I've been watching since around your first Hitmonchan run and I've watched every video of yours I could find, so it has been quite the journey, and so much improvement. I may only comment on these VS videos and usually to just offer advice or suggestions, but I do watch them all. These are just my favourite sort of your videos, and I think I actually offered help, in the very least in echoing what I thought were good points made by other commentors. Recently, I've felt eclipsed, though. You're taking specific hard pokemon's stats into account much more quantitatively than I ever have. And as of late, especially with the updating pokemon stats and the fun animations, I can easily say you're my favourite pokemon runner to watch now. That you still found the comments here helpful enough to back back and improve on a video anyway is just amazing. It even seems like this crazy pace you and your team have is stable, though I do hope it's not running any of you ragged. All up,good work, I'm very impressed, and I look forwad to the next video, especially the next VS video.
Y'know, for all the comments on the original video talking about Amnesia for Poliwrath, I'm not sure it would really benefit from having it unless we're replacing something on its starting moveset with it. All the time spent as a Poliwag and/or Poliwhirl would probably slow it down more than just powering through without it, but altering its starting moveset to include it seems unfair for a versus video. Even though you're starting with final stage Pokémon at level 5 instead of evolving them during the run, at least that's something both competitors get to benefit from instead of just one. Anyway, thanks for the extended reupload! It's awesome that you'll put all this time into creating these videos, but still be willing to go back in afterward and add even MORE to them if you end up missing something or to address questions/feedback in the comments.
My dude, Scott, you are truly one of the most receptive and involved creators I've ever seen in your interactions with your community. I am so happy I found your videos. Wishing you and your fiancé all the best.
Such an impressive effort to re-upload! Fantastic video and great to see how close they ended up being - I thought Hypno would be more comfortably better given badge boost hijinks and typing.
Oh scott, its great to see how you and your content has developed. I know these videos take a long time, i think i can speak for all of us flying-ice-domefossil-disciples when i thank you for givin us great content to watch! All hail the dark lord
Can’t wait for Poliwhirl, it’s my favorite Pokémon and with the differences from poliwrath (higher speed, no fighting type and amnesia) I believe that poliwhirl has a good chance at beating poliwrath and maybe Hypno if it’s lucky
@@tsawy6 Yeah but you don't really need it until the elite four and maybe Yellows version of Giovanni. Koga and Sabrina won't be as bad without the fighting weakness. The only gym leader I'd worry about is Surge but in Yellow version he only has one pokemon and I saw Poliwhirl get by the tougher version of Surge pretty easily on Van Man's video. Yellows version of Erika is tougher but I think with the choice between Ice Beam and Psychic it won't be that bad.
@@enerc2333 bulkiness is good but it's a little overrated since Hypno is way bulkier than Alakazam but they really aren't that much different unless you are talking about how Yellow version's Alakazam doesn't learn confusion right away.
Really appreciate all the extra work you put in Scott 🙏🏻 After watching these and the amazing times these two got, I really want to see you take on the game with the legendaries soon. Let’s see how real beasts will perform with optimisation 🤩
This extended video was fantastic. I do wonder how the rematch in Kanto remake of Gen 3 would be like with Poliwrath better stats and improvement. But yea, this was great! Understandable on adding these bits!
Wow, you're awesome for doing this, and you've actually tried almost every strategy that recommended to you in the comments, and for that I really respect you and all your efforts to make them work. Well done 😊. By the way, poliwrath can only have access to amnesia as pre-evolution move . So whenever you've evolved Poliwhirl at(or above) level 41, you'll get a poliwrath with amnesia- that's the only legit way to get that. If you would allow that it wouldn't be a fair fight against Hypno, so I'm glad that you didn't do that. 😊 That's why I think Poliwath should have faced onter stone evolution like Exeggutor. Because fully evolved stone evolution pokemon tend to have bad moves, because of no access to level up moves of thier evolution line. But overall it was nice to see how close Hypno and Poliwrath were. Also, you've made the right call to not rely on hypnosis that much, with both pokemon. At first glance, anyone can make that mistake of overusing hypnosis in a playthrough, because sleep is broken in gen 1,and it sounds nice on paper, but in actual practice like you've mentioned earlier, that's an awful coin flip 😔. Hypnosis is a fool's gold for slower pokemon. Anyway, I had a great time, and thanks again for making me have a good time. 😁
I’m working on the fire-stone evolutions right now and you’re so right. They have really bad level up moves. I’m excited to see how Poliwrath does in the future when it gets amnesia!
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon yup it's so painful, I'm glad that they've fixed it in gen 4. Most stone evolution have some good stats and good moves if you are willing to evolve them at level 40-50😅, and that's really challenging I can tell you that. About Poliwrath you can do a run with amnesia, just to test it for fun, or maybe in gen 2 where it get better, it could be interesting 🤔😁.
Something crazy to do for the 100K subs would be a challenge with the Eevolutions Whether with the basic triangle or all of them 🤯🤯 Very good job man, your content is so entertaining and incredible Shout out from France 🇫🇷
Imagine this game with the heart scale dude, you’d still get Amnesia I believe😅 Thanks for the re-upload, I’ll watch the whole thing again. Can’t wait to see the Poliwhirl video!😃
The dedication is admirable - must appreciated! Also, the info you display on-screen is amazing and so are your ongoing and final statistical comparisons 👌
Haha it most certainly is analytics poison. Made the call that I wanted this video to feel good long term, rather than have shiny numbers over the first few weeks.
Wow.. this really showed the level of dedication for achieving the most "intuitive" and best runs. This would of taken you so many hours to run, edit and then to go back because you felt it could be better to what many if not most would of considered good enough. Kudos to you. Big subscribe.
I think it'd be fun if you take the dome fossil for the mon that loses the "who will win" poll and the helix fossil for the other one Give the blessing of the dark lord only to the underdog y'know :3 Eitherway, for the algorithm! Otherwise it'll be mean to this reupload PS: Gosh, after finishing this video these two are so much better of a pair together then I initially thought. I'd have never have paired them, but no yeah! Seeing polywrath as the no.2 on the tier list felt great as well~ PSS; I just got to the sneaky chat, you know the one :3 Just wanted say that you doing many playthroughs and trying to optimise the time is really fun for me too! I feel its a really distinctive addition to your content; though make sure you arent burning yourself out. Ik that you probs are aware of it but it feels like multiple playthroughs per vid could make it more likely so was worth saying. You know best ofc
Last year I dreamed a dream. I said, "I wish I could play the game more and edit less." Then Patreon delivered me Shawn and now I can play, write, and record voice over and he helps with the rest :) Also, yeah, I filmed these two as separate individual videos. I even wrote the scripts separately. After I had finished I looked at them and then went, "these two need to go together..." Then I re-wrote it!
So much work in these videos, and now even more piled on top of it °-°; One thing I'm curious about is the specific calculation for stat boosts. Since badges are a 12.5% boost, that means you probably(?) only get 1 full stat point due to bit-truncation. At least, that's how I expect it works, since that's how the SNES handles it by default, and iirc Pokémon Gold does as well. If I'm correct, let's take an extreme example: - If we have 15 ATK, you would get 15/8 = 1.875 = (Rounded down) 1 additional point per badge boost => 15 -> 16 -> 18 -> 20 -> 22 -> 24 -> 27 -> 30 -> 33 -> 37 -> 41... - If we have 16 AK, you would get 16/8 = 2 additional point per badge boost => 16 -> > 18 -> 20 -> 22 -> 24 -> 27 -> 30 -> 33 -> 37 -> 41 -> 46... Effectively, whenever it reaches a multiple of 8 threshold, the badge boosts could snowball to be worth an entire additional badge boost compared to 1 lower stat boost The main reason why I'm bringing this up is - when trying to come up with efficient routes in RPGs, for me it's often quite difficult to have an idea where to even begin. And in games like Final Fantasy 5, it's very nice to know what possible thresholds to look for are, and go from there. This is probably not as relevant in a lot of your Pokémon playthroughs, since it kind of specifically requires access to some stat-boosts in some capacity, but I figured it may be a place to begin for routing if you don't have much of an other place to start Also - I did make it "this far", and no, YOU are incredibly ^^
Yes this is how it works. The game always rounds down. That's very interesting and something I'll have to think about. It is worth noting that the boosts stack, however, I should explore how they stack. Because I believe they just recalculate based on the previously stat total, not a percentage boost.
"If you've seen it, skip to these time codes." I don't think I will, I think I'll just watch it through again, and you can't stop me.
Scott:
Skip to these for the new stuff
Fans:
No I don't I will
"That sign can't stop me because I can't read!"

Interesting to see what updates you made to V1 of this video! I appreciate your hard work and integrity Scott
Reuploading this for quality is a testament to how hardworking and deserving Scott is. Definitely shows dedication. We appreciate all the time and effort you put into these, Scott.
Been so happy to find this channel . Deff binged a bunch of your older vids this week
Hope it was a fun journey!
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon honesty brought me back to the rom days playing Crystal with random teams . Appreciate your content.
The subtle changes to the poliwrath sprite that makes it look "happy" is so great I love it. Huge fan I've watched so many videos now lol. Never give up you're a great poketuber
ALSO. You use legit speed run strategy especially in the second minmax run and it's exactly what I was hoping would happen. I'm enjoying your stuff more than wolf or pokechallenges or smallant. You're great
I have to admire your dedication to making content you're happy with.
Personally, sleep effects are something I might use early-game, but I usallly drop them later if I don't have a strategy for them (like pairing it with Dream Eater)
Damn. I'm so happy to have found such a dedicated hard working pokemon content creator.
Reuploaded for quality. What a legend.
Ah, so much of your style, Scott to make your videos as documentaries, your scientific analysis and your ideas are always an interesting spot to listen to and see play out. This video is a true triumph of your ever growing abilities.
Thanks so much HighPriestFuneral!
I still would've loved to see you go for Jolteon over Flareon so Polywrath could've taken advantage of Ninetale's tail whip and plowed through the champion much more consistently.
Other than that, extremely impressive that you did all this extra quality work! Easy subscribe!
The reupload is great as well! And I'm glad I got to see it again!
I love your channel. It got me through some hard times. I love Poliwrath, so I hope he wins!
To be honest, I LOVE your dedication. Thanks for all the content you upload. You're awesome!
You’re welcome!
I really appreciate your dedication to objectivity. Thank you for the re-release and explanations, as well as the timestamps.
I always want to do the best I can with every Pokémon! Poliwrath deserved the extra attention! (It will get more in the near future!)
The king is back! Glad that I can watch the conclusion of this fight !
Was looking forward to this video the first time. Happy you feel better with the video now.
Once again, above and beyond with your content man. You deserve a spot on UA-cam's S-tier good sir.
Thanks so much! I’m really pushing for improvements.
I have to say this might be my favorite one so far. It was good before you took it down, but damn you did amazing with the whole thing
Good to see the vid back up, it was good the first time but I’m happy you could make the changes you wanted and get it back out quickly
We will find out!
You’re the best, Scott! Thanks for the reupload!
I honestly feel this is the best pokemon Gen 1 channel I know of. Awesome stuff man.
Thanks man!
Yay you're doing a Poliwhirl video!! My favorite pokemon!! Excited to see that one
Absolutely the best. The best methodology, the best humor. We're blessed to have you.
Awww. Thanks
Wooo, glad you’re doing the Arcaninetails VS that I suggested!
My dude, Scott, you are truly one of the most receptive and involved creators I've ever seen in your interactions with your community. I am so happy I found your videos. Wishing you and your fiancé all the best.
Hey NanoSwarm, thanks so much! I’m lucky to have found an involved and engaged audience. Thanks for being a part of it!
I like the direction your channel is going, your videos are only getting better. Kudos!
That’s the goal!
You put a lot of love into these videos and it really shows! Great job!
I do! Thanks for the comment Emily, good to see your lizard avatar again :)
Amazing content. And almost 2 hours. Wow! Really enjoyed it. Thanks, Scott.
You're welcome :)
Such an impressive effort to re-upload! Fantastic video and great to see how close they ended up being - I thought Hypno would be more comfortably better given badge boost hijinks and typing.
I appreciate the time stamps!
Fun vs video. Keep it up, Scott!
Keep it consistent Scoot, the more you do the better it gets. Great content as always
Oh scott, its great to see how you and your content has developed. I know these videos take a long time, i think i can speak for all of us flying-ice-domefossil-disciples when i thank you for givin us great content to watch! All hail the dark lord
This video earned you a new subscriber bud! Keep up the awesome content 👏
I always love the scientific approach, it makes my brain happy :) keep it up
You are the best!! Always enjoy your content and they never disappoint
I'm here for the re-upload content, just saying so to comment. So, keep up the excellent work Scott!
Can’t wait for Poliwhirl, it’s my favorite Pokémon and with the differences from poliwrath (higher speed, no fighting type and amnesia) I believe that poliwhirl has a good chance at beating poliwrath and maybe Hypno if it’s lucky
Amnesia isn't till pretty damn late unfortunately
I doubt it
@@tsawy6 Yeah but you don't really need it until the elite four and maybe Yellows version of Giovanni.
@@enerc2333 bulkiness is good but it's a little overrated since Hypno is way bulkier than Alakazam but they really aren't that much different unless you are talking about how Yellow version's Alakazam doesn't learn confusion right away.
if beats Poliwrath it probably beats Hypno too the gaps are minimal
Really appreciate all the extra work you put in Scott 🙏🏻
After watching these and the amazing times these two got, I really want to see you take on the game with the legendaries soon.
Let’s see how real beasts will perform with optimisation 🤩
I’m excited for some Legendaries too!
Great job. Love that you reuploaded!
These videos are comfy and easy to rewatch. Not skipping.
Awww I'm glad they are worth a rewatch :)
Take a shot every time he says I did another playthrough
The dedication, man
Lol, go watch Hitmonchan can Hitmonlee to have a good time.
Something crazy to do for the 100K subs would be a challenge with the Eevolutions
Whether with the basic triangle or all of them 🤯🤯
Very good job man, your content is so entertaining and incredible
Shout out from France 🇫🇷
Love the extended version. Thanks Scott
GG good improvements, liked the oak battle too!
You have nothing to apologise for, Scott. You're the incredible one of us, and you've done a sterling job of this.
Thanks for the timestamps! I love to support but was short on time today
Imagine this game with the heart scale dude, you’d still get Amnesia I believe😅
Thanks for the re-upload, I’ll watch the whole thing again. Can’t wait to see the Poliwhirl video!😃
Yes! A move reminder would change everything. (although I really like moveset planning in this incredibly constrained circumstance.)
The dedication is admirable - must appreciated! Also, the info you display on-screen is amazing and so are your ongoing and final statistical comparisons 👌
Love the little portrait edits. :)
I think it's really cool you do this all on yellow. It means it's nicer to watch both you an jrose!
I knew something felt a little off about Poliwrath's run, thanks for going back and remedying it!
You're welcome!
Whilst the reupload is probably analytics poison, I respect wanting to put out something you're happy with in the long run!
Haha it most certainly is analytics poison. Made the call that I wanted this video to feel good long term, rather than have shiny numbers over the first few weeks.
It works, especially since you are a quality UA-camr rather than an analytics UA-camr.
Wow.. this really showed the level of dedication for achieving the most "intuitive" and best runs. This would of taken you so many hours to run, edit and then to go back because you felt it could be better to what many if not most would of considered good enough. Kudos to you. Big subscribe.
Welcome aboard Zaelleaz! It was an exhausting process. But I'm so happy that I did it
Watched your stuff before. For this, you have a new sub.
I'm hypnotised everytime you upload
Still awesome the second time through. Keep up the great work.
I think it'd be fun if you take the dome fossil for the mon that loses the "who will win" poll and the helix fossil for the other one
Give the blessing of the dark lord only to the underdog y'know :3
Eitherway, for the algorithm! Otherwise it'll be mean to this reupload
PS: Gosh, after finishing this video these two are so much better of a pair together then I initially thought. I'd have never have paired them, but no yeah! Seeing polywrath as the no.2 on the tier list felt great as well~
PSS; I just got to the sneaky chat, you know the one :3 Just wanted say that you doing many playthroughs and trying to optimise the time is really fun for me too! I feel its a really distinctive addition to your content; though make sure you arent burning yourself out. Ik that you probs are aware of it but it feels like multiple playthroughs per vid could make it more likely so was worth saying. You know best ofc
Last year I dreamed a dream. I said, "I wish I could play the game more and edit less." Then Patreon delivered me Shawn and now I can play, write, and record voice over and he helps with the rest :)
Also, yeah, I filmed these two as separate individual videos. I even wrote the scripts separately. After I had finished I looked at them and then went, "these two need to go together..." Then I re-wrote it!
2 hours omg Scott you absolute legend
Don't be too harsh to yourself.
Your content is fine just the way it is.
Keep it up !
So much work in these videos, and now even more piled on top of it °-°;
One thing I'm curious about is the specific calculation for stat boosts. Since badges are a 12.5% boost, that means you probably(?) only get 1 full stat point due to bit-truncation. At least, that's how I expect it works, since that's how the SNES handles it by default, and iirc Pokémon Gold does as well. If I'm correct, let's take an extreme example:
- If we have 15 ATK, you would get 15/8 = 1.875 = (Rounded down) 1 additional point per badge boost
=> 15 -> 16 -> 18 -> 20 -> 22 -> 24 -> 27 -> 30 -> 33 -> 37 -> 41...
- If we have 16 AK, you would get 16/8 = 2 additional point per badge boost
=> 16 -> > 18 -> 20 -> 22 -> 24 -> 27 -> 30 -> 33 -> 37 -> 41 -> 46...
Effectively, whenever it reaches a multiple of 8 threshold, the badge boosts could snowball to be worth an entire additional badge boost compared to 1 lower stat boost
The main reason why I'm bringing this up is - when trying to come up with efficient routes in RPGs, for me it's often quite difficult to have an idea where to even begin. And in games like Final Fantasy 5, it's very nice to know what possible thresholds to look for are, and go from there. This is probably not as relevant in a lot of your Pokémon playthroughs, since it kind of specifically requires access to some stat-boosts in some capacity, but I figured it may be a place to begin for routing if you don't have much of an other place to start
Also - I did make it "this far", and no, YOU are incredibly ^^
Yes this is how it works. The game always rounds down. That's very interesting and something I'll have to think about. It is worth noting that the boosts stack, however, I should explore how they stack. Because I believe they just recalculate based on the previously stat total, not a percentage boost.
thanks for the upload I love your videos
"He is going to make the video shorter... I was just about to watch it"
_Extends the duration like a madman_
Everything that was here before, is still here, plus a bit extra haha. I did change the ending of course because I had to reflect on the new results!
