Even tho I got the subscription I feel people who paid for Studio One in full should be catered to 1st vs someone who can decide not to pay their bill one month & just jump over to a new DAW & never come back lol. I feel like buying the license is showing more loyalty & they should be rewarded equally if not more.
For me it's not a big deal to pay 15 USD monthly for my MAIN tool. Bit if I had to pay other subscriptions for plugins , then it is too much. But for the main DAW + 200 GB of any kind of samples , doesn't seem like such.
as i said to someone other : presonus - at least in europe especialy germany - violates law or more specific that law that orders a state , police, lawyers , private persons aswell as companies , to treat everyone equal before the law ! now taking that specific law seriouse means that presonas doing a difference between those who bought the pro version and those on plus and hybrid , does violate by that the very laws they are ordered like everyone else to not do so because that lawfully means :
you do not treat all people equal ! like if you go to eldi or aldi or what is that called , as someone not being rich and another guy having some half a milion in his account, and aldy does not sell to you a product but sells it to that richman , that is by european and german law - so much i could find out - highly ilegal and braking that law that says " everyone is equal before the law " is at least in germany not a simple missconduct or something that is gonna be punished by some citation but with actual charges in court
i am sure in US there is no difference : if you having only ten bucks are going to buy a sixpack of lets say of bud light , and they reject to sell to you because you dont have some sort of a pluscard or a hybrid card : you can literaly sue them and you are gonna win because it is a violation of equal treatment before the law
same is with presonus - thats why i told to someone to not buy artist but he did it sofar i know anyway : if you have a product and people want to buy that you cant do a damn difference with no reason to whom you sell and to whom you dont ! and you cant have the same product being sold like " budlight in a special package " and " bud light sold in solid metall box " and making the metall boy not available for everyone because you are gonna get sued
The German law does forbid this very harshly as i could find out: you are not allowed to make two versions of a product UNLESS you point not only out that there is a difference but YOU MUST MAKE IT BUYABLE FOR EVERYONE if you dont : you have violated the law that is called " ala sind for der gesez gleich " and you are gonna get sued and i hope presonus gets sued hard by some milions of people and here is why :
you sell a software the prise of which has drasticly increased : according German law you must reason the increase. Now you need to have a big difference between what you sold a year ago and what you sell now and that is : the now sold version 6 pro must have at least 5 more instruments and way more fixes to it otherwise the prising is ILEGAL to be 400 euro while nothin has changed neither on the bad bad bad user interface and less in the fact you have the same shity 5 Instruments like a year before !!! what presonus does here is even scamming people which is a more add to the allready gulit of having violated the law of equal treatment.
if i was to have pro i would sue the hell out of presonus because get a look at the prising and you will see that it does not give a valid reason to not include the shit of the plus and the hybrid ! you actualy spent money on buying a full licence = thats euqal with buying a full product and if that product has not what you were promoting it as " proffesnonal version ....a full studio ..." bla bla bla , you have scammed the person who bought that licence and if you treat that person different from some fanboys and girls having gone nuts and did a subscription , you allready have broken the law of equal treatment before the law.

I think a lot of companies don't seem to appreciate it when some of us purchase full versions of these packages. I bought not too long ago V6.5 and now see that I don't get this instrument?? I've since purchased Bitwig and am so far pretty happy with it.

I have been conflicted on staying with my og DAW Reason for consistent level of updates to justify the price, but it seems that Studio One has done something similar which is disheartening as it was my best DAW Iv owned based on user friendly/workflow/compatibility (Big Pluses compared to Reason). However, reading your statement is still just motivating me to use what I have until I need to update due to my hardware. The economy and ownership must be forcing these obvious money grabs moves which hurts the loyal fan base.
I can say for the 1st time in a long time, I’m not happy either with the Studio One update

tell you what: you can spent 400 $ almost on that shity software and have only 5 instruments out of which only the impact is somewhat a good one or you can spent 185 for bitwig producer and have a wapping 13 instruments on board and way more fx , or you can decide to go via ableton starndard and have the same amount of instr. and twice the amount of fx but finaly if you have the budget you could easaly show to presonus the middlefinger and grab Cubase. i cannot enough advice people to NOT buy no shit from presonus anymore until they learn the fuckin lesson that we are not dependent from them but they are from us
When we are not satisfied with a product, we already say so in order to potentially develop the product and if it no longer suits us we have to look for other DAWs. Getting out of your comfort zone costs a lot of time and investment, but it can be good. What you say is true, they just disguised certain plugins that have been there for a long time but don't add much more.
The DAW is made more for sound engineers than for producers. It lacks functionality to improve the workflow compared to FL, Ableton or Cubase. I'm keeping my current license but I'm exploring other horizons and if Presonus stays on this line, I won't renew my license and that's it.

Fender traditionally pissed off most of their sellers through the years. The requirements to get a franchise were taxing. A store was forced to buy/sell many of their non-selling models just to put Strats, Teles, Jazz and P-basses on the floor. In fact, they even forced Leo Fender out the door! Today's shenanigans are quite similar, but now they are going straight through the end-user customers.

@@beatkultr It depends on how the situation is managed. Traditionally, Fender ruins everything. (Ask Leo Fender.) If they start losing a large user base, their competitors will take that revenue and (should) improve their product(s). Presonus was always more about the hardware. Studio One came later. Many users were skeptical but found the product to be surprisingly good. However, their customer service is already a wash. (This used to be a cool company to work with.) The ultimate problem with DAWs is fastening one's projects to that product/version. I ran into this when I switched from Cubase. Keep your eye on the industry itself. Regardless, there will always be that entrepreneur that pays attention to the customers' needs. Stay tuned...
Yeah well, the reason I came to studio one from cakewalk looked very much like this in the beginning......looks to me as though we'll all be on the move soon

I dont think we will ever see an update to Impact & Sample One if Presonus doesnt have something like a Hip-Hop department. When I think of Fender I think of guitars which might lead to mostly Rock, so we might be screwed 😩😩🤣🤣I really hope they prove me wrong tho.

Yeah. They could have done it with this update. I use Sample One all the time but it is becoming really limited and Impact XT hasn't changed since it's inception. They are both aging and falling way behind the rest of the competition.

and now trs to think out of the box : all you need is a sampler right? and all you need are some craspy kicks and snares and stuff right ? and all you need is a good synth right? or two oe three .....
if there was no option at all the last usable is reaper allthough i dont like it but it is possible to work with ! let me tell you one very important thing brother : i used to produce beats with - and you are gonna laugh now - literal cardbaod boxes and a toothbrush and a thin stick : i recorded those on tape and by doing so they allready got that thik sounding.
every daw works that way only that it does that in a high quality bassis , meaning UHD audio and stuff. so all what you or anyone else actualy need, including myself, is a way to get shit recorded as for instruments well guess what : i got a year ago pigments and have downloaded a whole bunch of beat making impact like players if you like ! i personaly am in noo need to stick with any daw : one day and it sits so reagdless what daw you use every daw does the same only they all have another way of doing it. but presonus nooo thanks ! even if they were to make pro available for one year for free i would rather want to spent money on maybe cubase or if i have not the budget , i would go with bitwig or ableton standard. Presonus are in my sight and accroding at least EU and GR law guilty of :
- violation of the law for equal treatment
- scam : due to them selling the same shit like one year ago for now a wapping 400 USD or 399 EUR and between what they sold one year ago and what thery sell now the difference is so so tiny there is no legal reason at all to sell the same shit for a way bigger prise
when i read poeple talk about studio one and start with " whats new in studio one " i would love to laugh hard and say " well new my ass " ! there is no legal reasoning for a vocoder that you can get for free , nor for a matai or what was it called when you can have vital for free ! there is no reason for using imcpat when i could literaly spent money on groove agent only ( yes you can buy that thing without need to have cubase ) or download something similar to it . i dont care people tell me " well ok i got artist and works well " well yeah it does but how big are the differences between it and prime ?

Yeah I've been with presonus for 10 years but I think it's time to find something else I've been a perpetual s1 owner since I started using it and this is not like presonus to poop on us but that's what I expected when fender bought it
Things certainly been changing
With all respect it's the "New Feature" stuff they may be low-key charging you for like Pro Tools with their beat making feature. Some people don't use these daws for making beats they use it for the feature of mixing and maybe a few features to work on music. I would be cool with/agree with s1 or companies Mayne charging a small fee of you've owned the perpetual for a long time and maybe you've upgraded your computer 5/10 years later and may need the latest to be compatible.
I’m new to beat making. What can fl and logic so with samples that studio one sampler impact etc can’t do? Is there a video or can you make one how what studio one can implimenr as well based on those DAWs?
I don’t own fl but the concept is to pick one that resonates the best because they all essentially do the same thing
Thanks for such a respectful and positive vid on this topic. I am a V6 Pro perpetual license holder and former subscription member. I am ok with PreSonus limiting some plugins, loops, samples and other content to the subscription. I would be interested to know what percentage of S1 users feel that PreSonus behaved wrongly on this. I have seen many harsh comments.
I feel that the new hybrid model addresses my previous concern that if created a song in the current S1 version, then stopped the subscription, then I wouldn't be able open the song. Of course, hybrid, where you earn a perpetual license after a 12 month annual subscription, does not apply to month-by-month subscribers, though they could just restart the subscription if needed. Also, the perpetual license you get from hybrid is limited to the point version at the end of the subscription (e.g., 7.3.x), and it doesn't give you access to any of the plugins that are exclusive to the subscription, and that you may have used in your songs. This is why I will stick with the perpetual for now. I will keep Studio One as my DAW because I like it, even though I also own Apple Logic, with its free updates.
It makes no sense to shit on perpetual license owners. I mean, we paid upfront the cost that subscription users pay in 3 years, and they can just dump the company in a month and never come back. It's not like we get more than the flaky subscription customer. We're only paying for one full version at a time upfront. So, in a sense, we pay more to Presonus. Yet, the perpetual license owners get the short end. Presonus can ¤%&# my d%#¤. Let's see if I ever upgrade to 7 when it comes.
I've got a Reaper license too. Even though I hate it as a DAW for MIDI-heavy work, I'm sure I can make it passable, or then I'll move to Live.

I still use Studio One 6 . Very UI friendly and I do not need any updates and subscriptions. Anyway I have an arsenal of plugins from different companies 😊

Me too. The perpetual license of S1 has many great plugins, and for those limited to the subscription, there are so many great 3rd party alternatives.
If it wasn't for 3rd party plugins I woulda been left S1, Cubase has been flirting with me these last few days, im trying not to cheat on S1 but imma have to do some research lol

this makes sense to me now the stuff I see in 6.5 you can not do and it looks totally different like the chord rack. I am brand new to studio one just downloaded it a couple of days ago. Can I download 6.5 instead. i paid for the monthly subscription. I was using reaper for a few years and needed something different with out all these crazy issues.

Without paying for it again I would like to exchange 6.6 to 6.5. If not I might as well cancel the prescription if I can’t get what I need.
I’ve been using reaper daw for a few years looking for something different for the same reasons. Always running into issues.

I have S1 + but Lead Architect is not showing up even after downloading it. This is crazy😬
Did you go to install window? When updating studio one, it’s one thing but you need to make sure to also visit the install window where you install/ download all the extra content

You have to install separately in the install content area. This instrument is not apart of the daw defaults. It’s an additional install.
I think having a choice between subscribing and ownership is a good thing. However, I feel that having things in subscription version only kinda negates the concept of choice. So, I’m not going away mad, I’m just going away. I’m taking a midi cable-car to Cubase County, USA 🎹♥️

I switched to Cubase. I am not going to pay a monthly fee for my DAW. Cubase much easier, same features for me, some amazing features that Studio One does not have.

We have been requesting for a new instrument for a very long time now and all they could come up with is introduced a new instrument but in not accessable without subscription that's rubbish. S1 is really good but production in 2024 is beyond recording, mixing and mastering alone. More of what is helping Producer's now is beat making and S1 is lacking a lots of features on that side compare to other top DAWs that gave the full potential to those things. Studio One 6.6 is a joke and am really disappointed at presonus.
