I can see where Fender are taking Studio One. They will eventually force everyone onto subscription if you want all the new function and features. This is the first time I have been disappointed with Presonus in the 10 years I have owned a perpetual license for the Professional version 😔
There is obviously a reason why people use torrents !
Lead Architect is only available to Studio One + members. Even Avid give you the new stuff with perpetual…This stinks…
This update is more towards + members, perpetual license holder has no cake of it. These trends if Presonus continues and they if move towards subscription plan then I am leaving Studio One to FL Studio for its lifetime free update benefit.
I agree, but FL Studio? There are so many better DAWs than that clunker.
If Presonus believes that we don't deserve the new synth and whatever else they decide in the future, then maybe they don't deserve our money for the next paid upgrade(s). Why are we upgrading, when everything we need is already in there anyways, and they don't deserve our support. The perpetual Studio One Pro is now officially a chopped down version and we are now second class users.
@@houdinididiit Now my main DAW is S1 Pro-5 but I have also Cubase, so something different I shall try.
Not a fan of this update, new features either behind a subscription wall, or that virtually no one is asking for (except the corporations the deals were made with) .. didn't take long for the Fender deal to change things in the wrong direction...time to start looking for another DAW.
Always fun to see the features you don't get after paying for multiple professional versions of Studio One over the years.
You’ve become my go to S1 teacher. Love how you break everything down so basically and thoroughly for DAW recording novices like myself. I’ve learned so much from your videos! 🙏
I am impressed by your talented teaching technic, Mike 💕
Presonus can't force me to pay for annual subscription
Totally against the subscription model, as much as I love S1 if this goes ahead then I'm off.
As long as we can own the software outright without strings attached then I say bravo. Thanks for the video!
You're welcome!
That is not the case. At the end of the subscription, you receive a license for the current version of Studio One available at that time. This license is not upgradable. However, by paying an additional fee-currently €135-you can obtain an upgradable version. The new synth is still exclusively available to subscribers.
Nice update. I wasn't expected something like this. It's great to have the macro bar and the lyrics track on every page. I'm impressed by the new instrument. I always thought Studio One was lacking in this department, so I'll definitely toy with it. I hope Mai Tai, Impact XT and Sample One XT will be improved too when SO7 drops!
How does one actually obtain the new synth?. I updated S1 and Lead Architect is not there. I went to the website but couldn't see it under downloads either.... UPDATE: it is only for ''+ users''... THIS IS JUST ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS REQUIRING A SUBCRIPTION IN ORDER TO USE THIS SOFTWARE AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS IM DITCHING THIS INTO THE BIN!!! signed, faithful user since V1...
@@technogong Thanks for confirming that I had a feeling it would be. I said in another comment, I bought the 6 pro license when it was cheap and canceled sub, I'm just gonna stay on 6.
Thanks for the real deal! No update for me. I bought it out right to avoid subscription. Now it's sub only features. No thanks!
I don't like the direction this is taking. More towards subscriptions, integrating bloatware like Tunecore ect. Who asked for that? It won't benefit Presonus to be associated with these scammers. Useless like that Soundcloud thing. Happy about the performance improvements, macros and lyrics, but please Presonus, keep it simple. This one made me a bit uneasy.
Yea im feeling the same..im not paying no RENT 😂
exactly!
I would pay the subscription as it allows you to keep the current version at the end of the subscription year. However, after the fiascos that have happened with Tunecore, I would not use them.
I just use my artist pack. I'm not subscribing to anything
@@aquaticborealis4877 What fiascos? Having heard about that Tunecore thing for the first time here, I really wonder.
Stock synths are relatevely weak part of S1, yet when they finally make new one, it's subscription only. Not sure what to expect next.
0:57 Pfft. Yeah it is cool now but I think I actually bought full license over xmas, they had a bit of a discount then. I was subscribing before but it was a waste to me because if I barely used it then I'm just giving them money. I would have subbed to buy no problem but not now. I paid for 6 and that's where I will stay for years to come hopefully, it does more than I ever need it to do. I have been creating for years so going from 4 track to what we have now all in the box is all you ever really need to get the job done.
Great video man. Thank you.
Keep up the good work. Much appreciated.
WOW! New Toys!!!! Thanks for the review on the new goodies!
Great info Mike. S1 is really doing a great job with these recent updates. The hybrid pay plan is interesting. I've been with plus for about 2 months.
Thanks for the Video! This is the first I have heard the Fender Tone Master Pro Template and Interface. Looking forward to testing this out.
Really like the fact that macros has been added to the show page. Can’t wait to put this in to play.
If s1 goes that dumb pro tools route, I’m going back to logic pro. I think their main consumer base are home producers and recordists, where dolby atmos is the furthest thing from their minds. Most folks don’t want subscription daws but I don’t think they’re listening. If they force this down our throats I’m pretty sure they will see a decline in income 🎹♥️
I’ll see you Logic Pro!
Definitely a little disappointed that the new synth is only for subscribers. :(
Great presentation, Mike!
Great overview
Still hoping for Widows support for separate USB audio devices on input and output like on the Mac version
I too think Mike is an amazing Teacher!!!!!!!!
Who in the world wants to upload his song straight to Tunecore… useless features.. while we are still waiting on tons of useful ones…like modulations, real bus freeze… and this emphasis on Dolby Atmos just turns me off …
Right! Who actually needs that Dolby Atmos thing?? Only a bunch of professionals, right?!
@@geronomina6395 not the consumer for sure 😉
Thx for this! I saw someone's kind of summarised announcement on Facebook and I was 100% sure it was April's fool LOL
Love your videos Mike! But I have to say, I'm really glad I just switched to Cubase.
If you're making music and your happy, that's all I care about man :)
I'm back and after studying further have accepted the 6.6 plus Hybrid and do like it. I figured they would be upgrading to version 7 soon and just got a head start. So I have been using Studio One since 2015 and didn't really want to jump into another DAW. Ok, good job Mike, I'll be checking your site regularly to see what is happening. Thanks for your help!
Cpu usae is a good update. I still believe they can keep adding tools, like multiband saturation, transient shaper, tape sat, etx just ñike cubase. Cubase is improving stock tools and studio one is going to the virtual community. Fender añso can improve ampire.
Lead architect has a total UVI Soundware quality to the UI and sound. What a nice addition. Plus all the fancier stuff too
According to Presonus promo video for Studio One 6.6, Lead Architect is only available to Studio One + members.
Correct I have a Perpetual license and It's not in mine, doesn't matter I have Many VSTi's anyway so who needs it
I wish I could pin my Mix 2 bus next to my main output, like zones in cubase.. maybe one day, thanks Mike
Thanks MIke, good video as usual. It was really disappointing that PreSonus misleads us by claiming a new virtual instrument is part of Studio One 6.6. It is not, it is part of Studio One+ and it was released during the 6.6 update. Hybrid is interesting, but too little too late.
I'm following you (creative sauce) since the free DAW era of Cakewalk. Meanwhile I've switched to StudioOne+ and this time you followed me :D
Feeling good to have my old master again.
take Love from Bangladesh
Wow, only subscription I guess they didn't learn anything from Pro tools.
People just pay it, many do not even care they are being herded. As a collective we really do get what we deserve.
@@technogongPro users not getting lead architect is a problem. But presonus's subscription model is the best out there. Others ask way too much for a DAW.
It’s not only subscription-you can out right buy the DAW. The thing that is kind of stinky is taking the add-ons off the market to lure you into the subscription model. I don’t use the add-ons that much, but not fond of that maneuver.
You get perpetual license but on the next you will to subscribe.
I just got this message! non-updating perpetual license is the catch😏
Thank you for being a Studio One+ member. With the release of our Studio One 6.6 software update, Studio One+ Annual is now Studio One+ Hybrid.
With a Studio One+ Hybrid plan, a non-updating perpetual license to Studio One Pro will be awarded at the end of each annual (12-month) subscription period, providing access in perpetuity to the latest complete version release of Studio One Pro available at the end date of a user’s subscription.
Hey Mike,so if I go with studio one 1st: do have to upgrade? 2nd: are the upgrades free? I was looking at Cakewalk by Sonar and they say you own it for life...I'm only two years into this computer recording world so and sorta new to computers,so I'm still have a lot to learn....i hope everything is going good for these days
Fender is using similar behaviour for PreSonus as happened with Gibson and Cakewalk, don’t you think Mike?
@Mike: Could you create a video tutorial on how to record and edit 64-bit float audio in Studio One?
not just lead architect notion isnt included in the pro version either.. im starting tio think i made the wrong choice in my daw. it might be time to change.
Just for instruments or also Vocals?
Automating the out point of a loop set in sample one possible? Waiting for years. Would be awesome.
I have abandoned S1 as there is still no middle mouse hold and move in the timeline like it is standard in any other DAW or audio software I use like Cubase/Nuendo, Bitwig, Wavelab, Acoustica…
Question Is the update for Studio One the Professional Bundle because that's what I have?
Reason+ did this pricing model too and I was gone. I'm still in mourning years later.
Currently on the demo - considering purchasing S1 but I'm a bit confused. If I understand correctly, the only way to ensure access to Lead Architect is to have an active Studio One+ subscription.
It does not appear to be included with any of the standalone versions and if you "purchase" hybrid, you would lose access to Lead Architect after one year unless you opt-in to Studio One+?
Is this correct?
If so, I'm glad I discovered this before purchasing S1.
Mike, you dropped the ball on the subscription requirements which is CRUCIAL regarding this update. :-(
I appreciate your balance in the review, Mike. Some reviews and comments have been quite vitriolic, especially about the new instrument being free in the subscription and not in the perpetual license. I don't care, as I have around 9 gadzillion other virtual instruments anyway. Same with the plugins and sample packs available only with the subscription. Many of the people complaining don't seem to realize that the perpetual license is still an option.
I bought the upgrade every time since version 2 until I tried the subscription, which I stopped when v6 came out. I bought the upgrade again because I don't like the idea of not having a recent version if I can no longer afford to pay. The hybrid version may solve this problem, if the annual cost is at least close to what I would pay to upgrade every few years. But then again, I don't miss the subscription. There is not much to tempt me back.
I also admire your diplomatic mention of the TuneCore integration, as your preference has been DistroKid (as will mine be, if I ever choose to publish a song). I myself resent this "tyranny of the default" a little. PreSonus should provide integration with other major services too, though there will always be someone ticked off that their favorite service wasn't included.
Will updating change anything to the projects im working on or should i save them externally first?
From my experience, I would finish your current projects then update.
Hi Mike, after the S1+ sub is ending the latest S1Pro Version (at that given moment) will still be accessible, but it will not receive any updates whatsoever (not even the minor ones). AFAIK
Any CPU handling improvements in 6.6? 🤔
How do I revert back to version 6.5, 6.6 will not allow me to use scaler 2, my go to plugin. Any advise would be appreciated.
I would love them to put pitch correction plugin, not to use melodyne
Honestly I think all the DAWs are going this way. I'm really glad i learned how to actually play long ago. Only virtual instrument i use is drums and whatever is stock or almost free plugins
bad update. A veeery few music preducers use surround and atmos! And this subscription thingy is a bad direction, I hate it.
Presonus simply can't build VSTis, the new one sounds like a boring 90s rompler synth. Fender quo fadis?
how cand add a custom vst3 folder on s1 so can i scann my plugins
Hey Mike! So I'm thinking about leaving Cakewalk by Bandlab and getting Studio One but not sure which to get...which one is more like Cakewalk,Studio One Artist or Pro?
Definitely Pro John.
@@studioonerevealed thanks Mike!
bunch of my plugins keep crashing it, and it wont allow me to add them to the block list. pretty upset right now
Still waiting on updates for the show page, mainly midi changes! I can't believe this has been ignored for so long. Building a whole show in the song page is tedious and tiring!
Einklang called. They want their three layer morphing virtual instrument back. Say... its... name... Eisenberg!
There's not a lot there that particularly excites me, I'm afraid. I probably won't have use for anything mentioned.
The hybrid price might bring me back. My + subscrption stopped when I did not get a notification about the renewal. So suddenly I had nothing - and as they then increased the renewal price I went away and reactivated my Cubase perpetual licence. Having at least the latest version after the subscription ends is a safety bag, so I applaud this.
Yeah the hybrid system makes more sense. But I think the pro version users should atleast get all the stock plugins.
I updated Studio One Pro to 6.6. But where can I find the new instrument called “LEAD Architect”? Am I blind or do I have to download this separately?
It’s Studio One+ “exclusive”. You gotta subscribe to get it. Freaking lame.
@@thereal_ineedHelp What? I paid 400 bucks last year and should now spend even more money on a subscription so that I can enjoy it? No way.
So sweet!
im trying to get back to studio one, but keeps getting error when authorizing the program, "301 error", i tried to activate offline but on the website keeps loading forever, im using studio one 3, anyone can help me?
Hope Your Doing Well Mike
I am thank you :)
No need for subscription. Should be 299 until version 7 comes out and then a $50 upgrade. That's how it normally works
Have they fixed the broken "dropout maker" mode yet?
I wish they would spend one release only on improving keyboard navigation.
The lyrics thing is what is making want to switch from reaper 😊
There is still nothing that is enticing me to want to upgrade.
So, let me get this right; for me to get into lead architect I have to up to a subscription?
They're taking the piss
Not been a big fan of the last few updates.
Time to shop around maybe?
Please fix the latency😬
Lame that Lead Architect is S1+ “exclusive”, which I’m willing to bet money means even if you do the hybrid license thing, Lead Architect goes bye-bye when the subscription lapses.
Hi Mike, Just wanted to let you know I did download the new Studio One 6.6 Version but very disappointed I have the Professional level program that I've been updating since 2015 and have paid lot's of money to keep it current; now can't have the latest App they offer because all of a sudden there is a Plus version that I have to purchase yearly!!! Ridiculous! If they continue with this subscription nonsense, I'll regrettably be going else where no matter the learning curve. I hear Logic Pro is good. Oh well, nothing like crapping on your customers to send all your clients out the door!
The Studio One 6.6 update was rather disappointing, especially the notion that subscribers are now considered the A team, leaving the rest of us as mere spectators without any benefits as Pro users. However, that's okay; it motivated me to make a decision. I've been alternating between Cubase and Studio One for the past few years, and I haven't been particularly satisfied with either. I am a long-time Cubase user. I decided to explore Logic Pro X too. Today, I made the switch and I'm opting for Logic Pro X. It evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of the early days of music production software-not necessarily in layout, but in its overall approach. I feel a sense of belonging and comfort in Logic Pro X. I have a feeling we'll become great companions.
for me studio one is the closest to logic pro or x... its fast.. easy... quality sound and really great in all ways
NO SUBSCRIPTIONS! I've already dumped Waves plugins even though they weren't successful in implementing a subscription model. I expect them to try again.
Let me guess. Still no linking grouped plug-ins across tracks like pro tools and Cubase does in grouping options. Ugh. Linking plugin parameters across tracks is desperately needed for atmos let alone rhythm guitar amp sims… COME on Presonus. Such a simple and great feature when it’s needed. Should have came with atmos.
I have also been requesting this feature since the introduction of Atmos. It's a basic requirement for mixing in Atmos.
Nah ... subscription and I'm gone.
I love updates
Subscription lol
It's not going in a good direction. The subscription is being pushed more and more, and Tunecore...? Come on. That company's in a bad situation now that they're being exposed basically stealing their customers' money and pulling their songs from platforms based on bogus reasons (Benn Jordan gives a good overview on that). Not a good look. I'm pretty worried about the direction that Presonus has started to go after Fender took over. It's the best DAW out there, but it's not irreplaceable. If they go the way of Adobe, I'm out.
Also, the 6.6 update broke some VST3 plugins. I hope there's goign to be a fix for that.
no lead architect for me the sucker who paid for every update since version 1
Presonus are on a slippery slope. I think that there will be a few users that will start to look at DAWS elsewhere. People want to own their products and not have to pay subscriptions.
No lead architect for perpetual users? I can't complain, I have the "non very honest version" if you know what I mean XD
Lead architect, only for + members. And Tunecore, not for me.
S1 is a joke and on it's way out, if it don't leave fender ,years for updates and it's super desrespectful to it's pro users, by not offering this vst to it's long time users . Bitwig here I come
Wow, Desrepectful, Incredible
I too would like to look for an alternative. I think over time you are right, this platform simply will be going downhill. What's Bitwig.
@@jimmito823 , pretty much yes. This was done so poorly! Rubbing users noses in it. "pay this subscription and I'll give you X for free". I can say with certainty that the people behind this idea think I'm an idiot. It is disrespectful, absolutely. They could have simply made this new synth available when you purchase the subscription, but no, they got to rub our noses in it. They totally deserve this reaction. This is a carrot on a stick. Disgusting marketing.
Cubase is on sale now, they offered all the freebies to all current Pro 13 customers too.
Oh do stop whining!
I cant even BUY the instrument 😮😳🤨
I have an artist license because I can't afford the pro. Artist ceases to exist? Nothing is said about this....
Mike....... will you move next door to me?
My Studio One is faster loading on PC.
I get to update on my Mac Mini M2 with 24 GB memory tomorrow. Even that was somewhat slower of late. Hope it goes well for you on the PC.
This new synth is only part of subscription. I have studio one pro 6.6 and it's not in it. This makes the hybrid subscription not such a goid thing. You used to be able to buy the addons but now they're studio + only. So, if you stop paying the hybrid subscription, you can't use any, not even by buying them as addons. Moan aside, good video as always.
I am very disappointed that us Professional users have to buy a subscription to enjoy all the updates. I switched to ST-1 because Avid started this stupid subscription thing. Now that Presonus is doing that I may switch back or try another DAW. Sucks!
Love studio one. Not so shaw about tunecore. Wish it had bee distrcid. No interest in subscription.
Fender is a lifestyle brand. They don't make any product better than some other brand can make, and especially not at a competitive price. I really loved S1 for the time I used it, but as soon as I heard that Fender owned it, I figured it was a matter of time.... I'm out. I have a daily DAW that I use that is really good and isn't turning the corner to subscription yet. Sorry S1.
Guess it's time to switch to FL Studio.. I tried HARD to stick with Studio One but it's like they are actively trying to loose customers since V4. Been pro since v3 so I hate that I'll have to learn a new daw but at least FL is able to keep it's loyal customers happy.. Screw Presonus. I already knew this update was going to piss me off. A lot of wasted money spent with these idiots..
No Lead Architect for Pro license users ? Is that a joke ?
