  • In this video we look at the Chrysler 200! It was short-lived, only lasting two generations before being cancelled. This was actually a very decent car, but had 6 major flaws and reasons that I felt caused this car to be cancelled. Watch along for a full history of this car from inception in 2011 to its cancellation in 2017!

Yes my wife 200c the most up model had been a champ literally and it smokes BMW's challengers ricer sticks get spit on for the most part and two weeks ago a 2019 Toyota rav4 pulled out 15' infront of me on a 50mph road I had zero time had to hold my lane and smacked it at 50 it is totaled but damn it saved my life I had no idea that they had air bags in the pedal area at your feet that they are sitting on a Mercedes chassis and they are strong as fuck to take or give a hit only thing was I jacked my shoulder up bad cause I forgot to let go and relax but whatever I owe my life to that car and my wife and I just had our second babie girl not two weeks before that they get to see there father everyday because of the amazing build they did I don't give a shit what anyone says. And by the way I know in 2011 Mercedes bought dodge and I'm pretty sure they control all decisions Chrysler as well but maybe not at any rate look at there chassis that tells the entire story almost identical to a Mercedes one food for thought people. From someone still breathing because of theese so called falures😆 don't know SMH

I also find the Uconnect access very convenient on really hot and really cold days. I love how it let's me start my car from where ever so that I can walk out to my nice warm car in the freezing winter. I'm in iowa and the winters here can be harsh.

Somebody just gave me a 2011 Chrysler 200 convertible with only 68,000 miles.
I once rented a Chrysler 300 well, my other car was in the shop and it had air-conditioned seats. I just got the car a couple of days ago and I see that there is either heated seats are air conditioned seats. There’s just pictures of waves coming out of the seat. Are my seats just heated or are they air conditioned? I live in Florida, so hopefully they’re air-conditioned.

Had a oil/coolant leak which ended up having to have the oil cooler housing replaced due to deteriorating orings. And my flex pipe just snapped but overall very good car. The zf transmission isnt the best they could have used but i havent had issues with it.... yet.

I also had a 2015 200S AWD with every option available. The 2013 avenger actually feels almost as fast 0-60 as the 2015 awd. I could hit 5.5 seconds in sport mode with the paddle shifters timed just right or else it would bang on the redline without changing. The avenger rt once I put on good tires I could hit 5.6 0-60 easily. If it was from a roll the avenger would win hands down even though it was down 3 gears because of weight. The Pentastar is really good with a tune. I had to get the 2015 unlocked but with the hemifever tune, intake, throttle body, TB spacer, and flowmaster super 10 muffler I was making 300 whp. I went from 5.5-5.6 to just under 4.5 seconds 0-60. I Really wanted to supercharge the car but I didn't want to be the first one to try.

I still own a 2013 after nine years. I have replaced brakes, throttle body assembly (and now the radio doesnt work), front driver wheel bearings, battery, and a radiator hose blew. After nine years I cant complain. The car has 170,000 km on it and I have used it for moving, driving off road through the farm, and all sorts of things. It is roomy, versatile, comfortable, and I like it.
It has handled well on icy, snow covered roads that I probably should not have been out driving on. Compared to a jeep for winter driving it is not as good, but it is decent for a car.
I would buy the FWD, 2016 C to replace it becuase I have the rims for snow tires, and compared to an Accord or a Camry it would be less expensive to purchase.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed the good information.

Found the 2015 model with 73k miles in a local dealership and was thrilled with the interior design and all round features which are so cool. Was thinking of trading in my 2017 Kia Sportage with 60k miles, would've been the dumbest decision ever made, to think I only just got the 2014 sonata for my wife at 50k miles, good car so far. For me reliability has to be top priority with cars, sure dont want a car that breaks every time you look at it wrong. Thanks for this review!

I've had my 2015 for 5 years now. Only issue I had was a leaking oil housing. $100 on Amazon and 4 hours in the driveway to replace. With a few bolt ons and tune people have gotten this car to do 0-60 in 5 seconds flat which is insane for a family sedan. I love it.

Yes the first gen had the 3.6 a d I had a 2013 avenger rt and it made 241 whp stock. That's 292-295 at the crank. Same as the base charger sxt. Dodge says that they are different outputs just to stop it from stepping out toes of the bigger car. The higher versions of the 300 and charger made about 15 whp more due to a true dual exhaust setup and a better flowing intake. Those made 252-257 whp. Good for 305-310 HP at the crank. So they were a little underrated.

I have a 2014 Chrysler LX , entry level sedan. Going strong at 230k miles. I’ve driven that car everywhere in California, except up north, Vegas and Utah. I’ve had no real major problems until the 200k mile range. Overheating problem resulted in a new radiator, radiator housing and hoses, water pump, gasket, thermostat. Now the check engine light is on and it says it has a problem with the cam shaft / crank shaft/ timing chain. The car still runs good and strong.
I also have a 2015 Chrysler 200 C AWD. It’s a fast cad. No modifications. The only issue was overheating which resulted in a new radiator and new radiator hoses and clamps. Might need to change the thermostat since the temperature likes to crawl up to almost 3/4 in standstill traffic / freeway traffic. Other than that, it’s a smooth and fast ride. Going strong at 143k miles.

I test drove a 2017 model a couple years back, because I loved the design, but once I actually stepped into the car, the materials felt cheap, with hollow feeling, and looking plastics in important areas like the interior door handles, and the shift dial. It was still a beautiful car though, so I wasn’t decided against it YET, until I got it on the road... that transmission was ALL OVER THE PLACE, especially on the highway. It never knew which gear to be in, and would shift around roughly and randomly...... If I had purchased that car, I knew I would have just been anxiously waiting for something to go wrong.

Some do and some don't. You may have gotten lucky. I've seen a lot of them with transmission issues, AC compressors locked up, electrical issues. All expensive things to have to deal with. One thing I will give them though is the fit and finish was a lot better because at that time Fiat started dumping massive amounts of money into them, just not in the right places. Funny enough, it seems most Chrysler/Dodge vehicles have issues with the transmissions, AC systems, and electronics. The only time I saw their cars be reliable was when they were using a lot of Mercedes based components like the 5 speed automatic and entire platforms like the 300, Charger, and Crossfire.

    • @Natethegreat200c
      @Natethegreat200c 4 роки тому

Enrique Ortiz Honda shares the same exact transmission and Toyota also is having transmission issues. the trans that FCA is having problems with isn’t a FCA build or designed transmission at all. Mercedes starved them and made the interiors and cars shit. They’re better off with fiat. Now as far as AC issues and electronics that’s true. But I’d take a chance on a chrysler before a Toyota or Honda. The product just isn’t good.

You mentioned the transmission issues, but overlooked the problems people were having with the engine. In the Tigershark 2.4 in particular, oil consumption could get really high. 1qt/1,000 miles was common. My Corolla with a 1.8 FZ engine uses about half a quart every 5,000 miles, and it is significantly older. People were told that was normal, but if they didn't know, the oil level could drop dangerously low.
Provided people kept an eye on the level it wasn't bad. But this is something most modern drivers aren't used to.

I owned a 2015 200C, bought it brand new in December 2014 and put about 75k miles on it in almost 4 years. While not perfect, I thought the 200 was a great car and well executed in many ways. I loved the way it looked, the interior was very nice, the V6 had great power yet got great fuel economy on the highway, and the AWD option made it an excellent year round car. The car had a MAJOR powertrain flaw though - the transmission. That 9 speed was a terrible transmission, I never liked it. I was never a huge fan of the rotary gear selector but I overlooked it eventually. I think the known transmission issues these cars had ultimately led to their failure, along with the names Camry and Accord being engraved into people's brains. It's a shame because it was an opportunity for a turning point for the Chrysler brand and the company as a whole, but they still have some major reliability issues to work out on some of their models. I have to say though, I lost my 200 when it was totalled in an accident last November. It did everything it was supposed to do to protect me.

It’s already been replaced once, and it’s been back 2 times once, and the rough shifting still hasn’t been fixed. If they would have nailed that down better, this would have been an outstanding car for Chrysler. @Ed Ward maybe in the USA but globally the jeep brand is pretty much all FCA has, no dodge and Chrysler only offers the fading 300. Despite low sales at least alfa Romeo and maserati are high priced high profit sellers, fiat on the other hand relies on the 500 too much which is an old design

they should have thrown some Jeep AWD under this bad boy. called it an 200 Eagle, and aimed it somewere between Buick and Subaru!

I have the AWD ... It is good! .. Could be better, but good. And *yes* they needed to give it another name. The name, '200' had already been through the ringer.

I have 2012 200 touring.. got it used may 2020 at 165000km.. I now have it at 191,500km.. I have changed both front and rear break pad and rotors, thermo housing, both sway bar links, right rear upper control arm , both right rear toe links.. Next thing I’m going to do is fix the front right cv boot.. Honestly I love my car ..
