Tosin (the guy with the Ibinez, which I also think is his signature line) employs a LOT of hammer ons. He has also cribbed a lot of double strike techniques with his thumb and fingers from people like Victor Wooten, which allows him to hit way more notes than his fingers could otherwise. These guys are beyond S tier.
3:41 the extra sound you're hearing is coming from the drummer's pedals. He's playing "Hertas" with his feet that accent the notes played on the guitar, while holding a simpler rythm with his hands.
I think he's talking about the finger picking on the guitars, if you don't know what they're doing it really doesn't look like they're strumming matches the sounds
Tosin the guitarist makes up his own techniques I believe I saw a video where he explains the slappy bit where he’ll even kinda slap the string on the upstroke with his thumb so it looks like his hand is not even doing what you’re hearing.
Woah, watched the whole video expecting you to have thousands of views, great reactions man! I like the way you articulate yourself, like the round tone thing you said. Earned a sub for sure.
Definitely check out some of their playthroughs. Incredible musicians. Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes on guitar (the top two strings are like bass strings in gauge and tuning), Matt Garstka on drums is an absolute freak of nature.
Saw these guys at Red Rocks , Colorado last year....one of my favorite bands for sure. Even though this sounds bad ass, I would suggest checking out some of their studio playthroughs to truly enjoy the sound craftsmanship these guys put together. Great reaction glad you found Animals As Leaders!
Correction: Brutal Assault is the name of the of the music festival, the song is actually named "The Woven Web" (as said in the beginning) Indeed they use 8strings. The technique they use that makes you wonder how they make that sound that you dont see being played: thumping. The notes yo dont see are played by fingers tips on the right hand (I can play that too, its not easy to master though). Note that they have a computer playing in the background with some sound effects which accompany the rest. The second song is CAFO. It is not in 4/4 }:D
yep! 3 dudes. two 8 strings and drums. All three of them are goated. But the drummer...matt garstka is next level. Check out his playthrough of red miso or monomyth
Never heard of these guys until I stumbled upon this video, and they are now my second favorite band of all time after Alter Bridge. The stuff they write is absolutely mind blowing… would love to see you react to “fable of the silent son” by alter bridge, 8+ minute long epic!
Welcome to a new genre. It's referred to as "Djent". Have fun having your mind blown by tone and polyrhythm. There are quite a few pioneers in this genre, but one I can recommend endlessly is Vildhjarta. They have 2 albums and an EP that each singlehandedly changed the way a lot of fans and musicians approach writing and producing within the genre. Here is an instrumental version if their song Vagabond, off their newest album, Måsstaden Under Vatten. ua-cam.com/video/-E3eJlMe4MY/v-deo.html Other bands I recommend for continius stank face: Periphery Polyphia Loathe Invent/Animate Erra Northlane Allt Veil of Maya Volumes
I saw Animals as Leaders open for The Red Chord in Iowa City in a small venue, maybe 500 people packed and it was GLORIOUS

Aye! Thank you! I'm not always articulate but man, that tone was so unique, had to say something about it.
I always assumed the bassy chunk dada chunk dada sound was a trigger
4:00 lmao right? 😂
That smirk on Abasi's face. "This is nice and chill..."
