    In the end, it's not the habits and routines we'll look back and remember, but the time we spent with family and friends. Routines and habits are there to make sure we accomplish what needs to be done... So we have time for our loved ones. I truly believe that.

    The biggest question I have been asking myself lately is: why am I not being consistent in the things I want to do?

    • @rowena
      @rowena  4 роки тому +59

      been thinking about this a lot too. haven't reached anything solid yet but one thing a friend said has stuck with me. it's important to qualify what we're trying to be consistent in. ie, working out to be healthier & stronger (which means skipping days where you feel you need to take a break), vs working out to work out X times/week because it's a goal we gave ourselves. keen to hear your thoughts too :)

    Love the part of spending time with friends and family. I am honestly so comfortable and at peace with my own presence, I tend to convince myself out of spending time with friends, mostly because I get lazy about putting in effort into tending to those relationships. Sometimes it’s easier to be busy and invested in work/school. I’m currently finding myself retraining my thoughts and pushing myself to spend more time with people and create memories. Appreciate the life I have, promoting a sense of, “ I only have now” mentality. Asking, so what do I want to make of this moment? Progressively appreciating the value and importance of the relationships in our lives. I am slowly making more room for it:)

    I completely agree that health and relationships need to be prioritized. Something I've been struggling with and could use Rowena/community advice on is finding the right relationships, finding people who support you as you pursue your goals but also pull you away when you need a break.

    • @rowena
      @rowena  4 роки тому +5

      ahh Emma these are all things I've been pondering as well 😌the first thing that comes to mind is all good things take time, and that's ok. the first step is to be unapologetic in who you are and in what you're trying to build/achieve. I've learned that the more open & honest I've been with myself in being more accepting, forgiving, and understanding, it has in turn help translate into my friendships as well

    Rowena, you make me feel so comfortable with my choice to be a hermit. Since we've come to the end of the year/decade, I decided to take some time to write down some of my accomplishments of the last 10 years and where I want to take that into the next decade.
    I'm 26 now, started my own art business, started to write a story and study screenplays, learned a trade, completed 4 journals, and learned how to read tarot to name a few. I spend probably 90% of my time alone to focus on my work and finishing everything I started. It's a hard grind, but if I don't do it, I know that no one else is going to do it for me.
    I don't feel alone most of the time because you said it best - I'm so focused on working I don't even realize that I'm alone! It can certainly get really lonely in my low moments, but your videos show me that solitude is perfectly okay, and something to celebrate daily. 🙏
    Happy New Year, thank you for being a part of my 2019, I am so grateful for who you are. 🥰 Much Love
    PS - I am dying to try the Foreo

    I used to be friends with just anyone because I didn't want to be alone, and I realized that I was "friends" with people that weren't the best for me. So then I got REALLY good at being alone (because, like you, I go from one extreme to the other it seems lol). Now, I'm trying to cultivate friendships with legitimately good people. People that inspire me to be my best and who I can support in the same way.

    Hot tip to heat up an egg: get a small bowl and fill it with hot water from the tap. Put your cold egg in it and set it aside. Keep going with a your other tasks to prep your ingredients and cooking tools. In about 5-8 minutes, it will be warm. :) I use this all the time to heat up eggs!
    On an unrelated note, I'm in that, "is my health, relationships, happiness, family worth the hustle?" A book that's on my reading list is "The Hell with the Hustle" by Jefferson Bethke. I seriously have an issue with being a workaholic and it's too easy to just work work work when you have two businesses you're building.
    For the past month or so, I've been running an experiment and taking Mondays to do what I want. Could be making art or going to the library. Could be giving myself permission to deep clean a closet. It's my personal day to do those things that I wish I could do and would do if I didn't have work to do. I'm finding that giving myself permission to have fun or get an open loop closed is making me more productive during the rest of the week, and in happier.

    Do you plan on covering more mental illness stability tips? I know you’re not a therapist but I trust in your wisdom and I think you have a lot of advice to offer for consistent peace of mind ❤️

    I think that it's easy for us to get caught up in the hustle... we just need to ask. Am I giving too much of myself away to these things? Am I leaving space for what and who matters? Us introspectives tend to be hard on ourselves always wanting to grow. Give yourself some credit for where you are or have rocked it! A question that's been popping up for me is.. what is my most important work right now...

    Your videos are always amazing...but it kind of scared me a little wen i saw all the plastic wrapped food... Plz take care and try to not have your food plastic wrapped... Since its important for u to take care of your health then just knw that those plastics are not food grade they pollute ur food and environment... So its a humble request to try to minimise their uses...
