I’m about to turn 44 this week. This song makes me bawl like a baby now. This upcoming year seems terrifying but at least we can all still listen to our boys, Green Day, and feel some comfort. They’ve been my favorite for 30 years. Wish I could give them all a big hug. 💚
@@ghostfacepandathe left is doing a physiological attack on gullible Americans making them think the world is going to end under Trump to punish them for letting him win. Lots of people really think Hitler 2.0 is coming for them.
I grew up in a wasteland. My parents' marriage was never normal, so fights and depression were always around. My brother and I found comfort in music. I still remember the day I got this album and this song spoke to me in many ways, it's hard to grow up not having a choice, not like everyone else does. My brother and I still remember this song as an anthem for the lost, the wandering souls looking for a home, for a place where they can belong.
This song is about how much we get consumed by materialism shopping for the holidays that we forget about the one thing that makes us human, feelings. In the middle of the song it gradually flows into a story of growing up and realizing that you make hard decisions and go though many disappointments and you'll have to move on. In the end of the song you'll see that all you really need is hope. Sometimes stumbling, and falling around you'll make it through with hope.
11'years im still listening to it my dad listened to it 22 years ago we still talk about green day and stuff he didnt know i liked green day till my mom caught me singing macy's day parade

I had bought their album on a cassette tape and i was so frigging happy. when this song played, everything paused. for those four minutes, it was just me and this song. It was actually the first time i closed my eyes and waved while alone in a room. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Reminiscing the old teenage days, when I couldn't understand the lyrics just listened due to its soothing vibe, never knew that its so related to my current phase of life
It's nice that as we mature we start to take the time to listen closely to the lyrics and not just the music, it's cool how some songs have a commonality with our lives.
The video, how he just wanders around looking for peace and happiness, reminds me of my life. I have achieved my dreams for work, I am a pilot for a corporate company, and I am also a truck driver (my other dream). But even then, I still wander around looking for happiness and peace. I realized that my true happiness in this life is helping people, while not expecting anything in return. I mean that.
i used to occasionally sing this to my belly when i was almost in the third trimester, and i still sing it almost every night to my now two year old son :) green day meant a great deal to me in high school, and it only felt right to share that appreciation with my baby love
Since Adolescence,I've listened to and related w/ their lyrics.Their evolving musicianship through all these years, have helped me cope w/ life in various ways. This Song has me in a state of gratitude for what I once took for granted and almost lost for it.
I love other Green Day songs but, I don’t know why, this one hits me in a special way…I mean, just listen to the music and the way Billie sings the words! It’s just so…tender…and it feels like a very nostalgic song to me…it makes me feel such a beautiful sensation…so heartwarming
There are a lot of popular songs by Green day such as 21 guns, boulevard of broken dreams etc etc. But time and again, i always end up here. This is one of the most underrated piece of art.
+Tourist from another Universe Its my 2nd favorite Green Day Album only beaten by Insomniac. As for the reason I love Warning well this, the title track, Blood Sex and Booze, Misery, Waiting, and of course their one true anthem Minority. The rest of the album is solid but I can understand why it didn't go over well when it was released.
It compares well with NOFX's 90s album "Heavy Petting Zoo" - know for being a fun punk band, they made an album which is slower, more melancholic, less skate-able. And apparently everyone considers it their least favourite, but it's my no1 from them. Guess this means they could never be my no1 favourite band :)
I replayed this song and watched this video over and over when my grandfather passed. This one holds a special place in my heart. Haven’t seen this video in probably close to 10 years. Brings it all back.
Getting a bit nostalgic with this tune. Green Day was my childhood band and listening to them for the first time in years is making me remember the past.

Warning is a fucking solid album. Anything before Uno is good, which is remarkable really. It was a 20 year run of good albums. I’m not so into their new stuff, but after giving me 20 years worth of good stuff, you’ll never hear me bitch about it. It’s like Bowie in the 80s. It wasn’t a great run in the 80s but he had delivered like 11 album streak of classics, so he had goodwill for life at that point.
This is my favorite Green Day's song. I believe that all of us here have learned about life the hard way and we have learned to get up and find hope that we did not know, because at the time we were too children to understand the harsh and acerbic meaning of this life and what we need to face it. Today's the Macy's Day Parade
The night of the living dead is on its way
With a credit report for duty call
It's a lifetime guarantee
Stuffed in a coffin, 10% more free
Red light special at the mausoleum
Give me something that I need
Satisfaction guaranteed to you
What's the consolation prize?
Economy sized dreams of hope
When I was a kid, I thought
I wanted all the things that I haven't got
Oh-oh, but I learned the hardest way
Then I realized what it took
To tell the difference between thieves and crooks
Lesson learned to me and you
Give me something that I need
Satisfaction guaranteed
'Cause I'm thinking 'bout a brand new hope
The one I've never known
'Cause now I know it's all that I wanted
What's the consolation prize?
Economy sized dreams of hope
Give me something that I need
Satisfaction guaranteed
'Cause I'm thinking 'bout a brand new hope
The one I've never known, and where it goes
And I'm thinking 'bout the only road
The one I've never known, and where it goes
And I'm thinking 'bout a brand new hope
The one I've never known
'Cause now I know it's all that I wanted
