Lyrics:
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life
So take the photographs and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life...

Made it to 69 years old… yes it does 👀

@@cripdafoe2714 -Focus on living rather thn surviving.
- Don't take life too seriously.
- The time you spent trying to make yourself and your loved ones happy.. was a time well spent!
- Remember, doesn't matter what kind of time it is presently (good/bad/avg),, It WILL surely pass.
15 years ago 😂 .. I’m 43 and 15 years ago would be like 2 weeks to me
I’m 68, heard this song today and honestly, it brought a few tears to my eyes thinking about my youth and the fun I had. I’m still a kid at heart and always will be. Don’t take your youth for granted, it goes quickly..
i promise i wont. i have arthritis and everyone's been telling me to take it easy and to stop skating and be careful, but while im young im going to act it. i refuse to spend my youth being careful, i dont care how stupid it is or how much pain i'll be in a few years. im young so im going to do stuff while i can
we are all always kids at heart
Same here, Geno. I hear ya.😊
I'm 24 and will be 25 soon. Shits happened to me these years. But stated to learn guitar 2 months ago then I heard this song. Now I feel happier than before and want to explore more things. Anyway, it's like a young fellow mumbling here. I wasted my time too much, and from now on I will grab it as possible as I could. Thanks Geno!

Im now at age 22, no job, no confidence, anxiety always attacks me, also having an existential crisis. I hope i will have the best time of my life in the future.
Hold on to hope!
I was the same at 22, and homeless, just completely lost... 30 now, got an amazing little girl, she will soon be 6. Got a job, my own place, a car that is modified in the "rat look" style that I use every day, among other projects and let me tell you this. I never thought I'd make it to 23, let alone have what I have now. Trust me, it gets better. It may take years but, you can make it in life. Even when you think you can't. Music like this got me through some of the hardest times I've ever faced, keep listening. And, I would suggest steering clear of drugs, if you can. Don't make that mistake. They don't help, just escalate your problems. Keep it real. 👊
Very normal-I had panic attacks at 22 and thought it would never end. Your 20s is a time for self discovery and when you reflect back on them you’ll see it was worth it and beautiful. Take care of yourself
Me too bro. I'm 22 and exactly the same as you rn :')
You will bro just pray have faith and pure heart

@@bjornskywalker6969This world has become cheap and toxic with necessity to live sometimes the only way to survive the harsh conditions you face with bad luck and bad times. It becomes then important for some of us to flee for living a larger life in youth even at the cost of leaving your loved ones where they want to stay.
We always think about respecting our society but not about us, ge damn self respect. Then we start loathing ourselves if we haven't done so. Yes it's called becoming selfish. The only easy way to succeed.
Green day has a special meaning that turns out to be helpful for people who lost their identity and wasted youth in bad times.

Same age similar situation but we gotta keep going because who else is going to do it! One day at a time it’s been worse
Keep going. You got this!
Things always get better down the line. :-)
I'm 60. I promise you, it gets better. And better still. Try to be patient (hardest part!) and work through it. I've been broken many times since age 30 and healed and become stronger (and smarter, I hope!) every time to date. You will too. Hold your friends and chosen family close, and when they offer you help, TAKE IT. Look into neutral 3rd party help -- therapy -- if you can. Wishing you everything wonderful in 2024. ❤️

I'm sorry you had to go through that. Take care of yourself.
This song has really taken a lot of different meanings to me as years go by, it was a graduation song, a break up song, a memorial song for a lost friend, a song reminiscing about the past, an anti-depressant when Im having a rough day, and I guess it will continue evolving as time goes by and I enjoy the good times, while learning and growing from the bad ones. All those memories makes up who I am, and for what it's worth it has been worth all the while. This song ages like wine.
Listen mate, you've got this, "life" grab it. You're the man. You CAN do it
This was my H.S. graduation song if I remember correctly. I'm currently listening to a book on Audible called, The In-between By: Hadley Vlahos R.N. and she says her Mother-in-law picked this song for her Mother and Son dance at their wedding. She was dying from brain cancer. 😢 I popped over here to listen again to this song while thinking in context to what I just heard in the book. It's a great book I highly recommend 10/10!!!

If Green Day ever breaks up, this has to be their last song played at their last concert. I hope that day never comes though.

Mochammad Febriananda In 1992 when asked where Green Day was asked where'd they be in 3 years. Billie said he aim a gun at Tre'. Tre' would aim at Mike. Mike would aim at Billie. Then, Mike said we'd count to three and pull the trigger.
I legitimately just cried over this comment
People watching this in 2024?🍷🗿
The song at every high school graduation
Personal Story Time:
I was 17 when I was introduced to Green Day by my girlfriend at the time who was obsessed with them. So, to impress her before we started dating, I binge listened to all their music and slowly but surely I realized why she was so crazy about this band. I could relate to her on a whole new level because I eventually just loved all their songs and we would cruise throughout the late nights just listening to Green Day in my car. "When It's Time" was our song by them. I was definitely head over heels for this girl and when I went to the military, she waited for me. It all sounds like a movie now that I look back on it. Another song that always stood out to me was " Good Riddance". It wasn't necessarily a happy song when I read the lyrics so I couldn't really associate happy feelings with it. Anyways, fast forward, we both start our freshman year of college together. Life's good... until life and school start to get in between us and we were no longer those young kids that fell in love in high school... We slowly became different people. As months go on, we argued more and more and I came to the realization that maybe, it's better if we went our separate ways. I ended it but I knew it was for the best. My heart was broken because as much as I wanted "us" to work, it didn't. I loved that green eyed red haired girl. Fast forward a week later, I find out she rebounded and let me tell you, even though we weren't together, I suffered knowing something so precious to me was easily snatched up by a guy she barely knew. I don't think I've ever cried so hard ever in my life because folks, a broken heart tears you apart from the inside out. So, after months of trying to recover, I revisited Green Day again because I really loved their music, but I associated their music with her. One song stood out more than the others... " Good Riddance".. because each single lyric has meaning behind it for me. It will forever be associated with her now because it matches so much what we went through for 2 years. " It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right, I hope you had the time of your life" As she was the best thing for me in the beginning, she ended up being the worst for me in the end, but I loved every second with her.
Update: I didn't realize this comment would blow up the way it did! Really I was just in my feelings one night and wrote about this personal story to get it out of my system 😅 I didn't realize how many people actually cared to read it and I'm grateful for that. Anyways, if you're wondering what happened after this story took place, life went on as usual. Everything healed with time really. It's never the end of the world when break-ups occur even though it may seem like it at the time. These types of things are just little bumps In the road of life that may slow you down, but ultimately it's your choice to pick up the pace once again, even if it is just baby steps. It's still progression!
P.s. life's too short to be worrying about one person you've been with for however long. Especially if you're a Marine and a sophomore in college 😅
Much love!

Thank producer Rob Cavallo for the violins. He sent the band to another room where they played foosball, and 20-30 minutes later (by his own reckoning) the strings were done.
Thank the grunge movement for re-introducing strings to rock 'n' roll.

Always a great reminder....you only get one life, make the most of it...make every day worth living.
reincarnation is probably a thing though.
so go ahead and waste it if you so feel like
thatcher81 One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it’s worth watching. - Gerard Way.
Then look at it this way-what you learn and the memories you make in this incarnation can have an effect on your next spin of the life wheel. Either way, make the most of them!
This was my graduation song. I'm back here because of the VW advert on TV at the moment.
What a timeless classic this is.
VW brought me here too :D
This song should be called "Good Riddance (We Play This Song At Every Fucking Graduation) "
so much truth
Elliot Rodger brought me here
this song better than...graduation by vitamin c lol
Who is Elliot Rodger?
yep
My mom likes mellow folk music
My dad likes hard rock/metal
This is their agreement
Wow that's awesome
More like, You're their agreement
If he likes hard rock and metal how would this song be a compromise? Nothing about it screams rock, it’s just a punk ballad
Country rock by the Green Day💖
Yes, it's called "alternative". Technically, Green Day is a punk rock band.
Its something unpredictable but in the end is right.
Played this at my mother's funeral in 2016, still coming back in 2024 to listen
8.1k people didn't have the time of their lives

He’s got such a nostalgic singing voice.
Edit: Thank you for all the likes.
The whole song floods my memories. Like being hit by a huge wave. 🖤
He really does. One would think it’s because these songs are old and therefore filled with nostalgia, but I remember listening to this for the first time so many years ago and instantly feeling very nostalgic. Same thing with songs like She, When I Come Around, Redundant or... well, all of Nimrod actually, the album this song is from.
He has unique voice, not a very good singing one, but he makes up for that with emotion, few people have a singing voice that is actually very good, but most who don’t have a lot of emotion, that’s talent
True😥😥
Fuck you dumb bitch he gots a better voice then you he's famous your not so take it from there
I’m in my 40s and loved them since 94. My boys 19 and 22 along with my 21yr old nephew will be seeing them August 28 in Atlanta to celebrate my younger son,s birthday. These boys got great taste in music 😊. Can’t wait! Green Day all Day
I listened to this song a lot when I was moving. Me and my family move a lot but this time it hurts because I was in my teen years and one of my friends sang the chorus to me and now this song will always be in my memory as a song that helped get through transitions. So thank you Green Day, for making this song.
One guitar
Two voices
No studio effects
One of the most beautiful songs ever made
That’s all it takes to make good song really
@@user-wo6hr5xv1z yep. all about showing off the song writing. if you need more it;s over compensating
Strings too.
@@skep2923 nah
@@RAGproduction uh yeah. There are strings in there my dude.
I just graduated yesterday. Listened to this song on the way home with a beautiful sunset and my windows rolled down. Pretty surreal
You do know this song means "Fuck You", right?
Ghost Ninja while that’s intention, the song can be taken in a very literal manner too
PNW Late to the party, but best of luck for your future, man. I could quote some lines of the song here, but I won’t.
Mine is in 4 months and I just know I’m gonna do the same thing
Sweet Victory Good luck to you, too. 🖤
Congratulations Green Day, my high school class of 2024 made this song their senior song
This has always been THE SONG for me
This is my mom's and my song. She died in 2004. Hope you had the time of your life.
If i listened to this song too I'd probably kick the bucket as well, i hope she did have a good life prior to hearin hearing this garbage.
My mom passed in 2004 as well. I think of her every single day, this song helps...
Lost mine in 2005… sending love
2004: American Idiot
My dad died yesterday and this song would be a good funeral song i was thinking 💔
This song is so good but too short
it really is too short
true
Fuck you.
Is as short as our lives...
i agree
Anytime I hear this song it brings me to tears! My eldest son died in a tragic kayaking accident and this song reminds me to cherish all of the core memories I had with him!
Damn I'm so sorry no one deserves to go through that may he rest in peace 🕊️
I bet you, it wasn't in your recommendation list.

So, I'm a 16 yo italian girl.
Since I'm 10 I've always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but my parents didn't let me.(but i learned piano)
This year was one of the worst in my life(I'm not joking) and Green Day (and also music in general) helped me a lot.
Finally three weeks ago I started my guitar lessons and yesterday my guitar teacher said "now I wanna teach you this very beautiful song" and he started playing"Good riddance".
Now i learned it (only the chords ofc)
and I don't know how to describe how I feel...finally I'm happy, not bc of the fact that I kinda learned this song, but bc I reflected a lot these months and I stopped hating on myself.
So thank you guys, thank you so so much.
Also I was supposed to see Green Day this june in Milan, but next year will be great! Stay safe.
Edit: thank you for the likes, wasn't expecting this many! Also I finally bought an electric guitar a month ago!
I just finished this song on my guitar before rewatch tvis MV and write this comment. Yea I can play guitar but not really good. My dream was I wanted to play piano but unfortunately i came from poor family and have no musical background so i've got no idea how to start Piano so rn I tried my best to improve my guitar skills. Stay focus and chase your dream sister. Hope you had the time of your life!
Good for you for not giving up on your dream. I've wanted to learn the guitar for years too.
I'm happy that you manage your emotions my friend, let's be punks one more time, Green day 100% recommended.
@@StJimmy-eq8zg thank you!

Anyone who thinks this cat can't spin a tune is lost. This is an American classic. Will be listened to forever. Perfect.
One of the BEST songs by Green Day in my opinion. Thank you for making most of my childhood memories.
No denying this one of THOSE songs..absolutely incredible
Few points about this song
1.Song for every single graduation.
2.This song is all about breakup.
3.Good music never fades away.

I thought my Green Day obsession ended when I was six. six years later and I'm back here again. ehhhh
+Maddie Castillo It's not hard to be obsessed with Green Day.

I dedicate this song to everyone who graduated high school.
Im about to in 3 months, cant wait to hear this again!
Gonna graduate soon.. New school, found a new family, sad to see them go, but in the end it's right.
Only 8th grade
Well I never made it as a working class hero.
More like Middle school
I use this song to go to sleep, it’s so soft and calming and it’s a very historical piece of music. It makes you realize how lucky you are to be healthy and safe.
The best song that Green Day has ever performed. This has been heard during my high school graduation, all thanks to a music teacher who loves Green Day. 😀🎵🎧
Yeah...this song was played at roughly 96% of all high school graduations in the US in 1998.
Our school played boys ii men for like 15 years straight... my vote was rem's end of the world as we know it.
OK, @@cokeacolasucks. I was born in 1998. I was still a baby back then. : )
"it's impossible to be depressing in a major key"
Green Day: observe
trueeee
Its G major but actually it is almost same as E minor. So it can be minor song
It’s in Em mate
@@danle6853 not almost, it IS the same. The scale just starts at E instead of G
@@JornL yeah tnx
It was a risk for Green Day to make this guitar driven ballad-type song because of their hardcore rock fans but I'm glad they did. This song makes me think of my memories.
In a way, I find this song even more punk than usual. Punk is about breaking the rules and this song breaks the rules of punk.
Hannah Obsiye same
We played this song at my uncles funeral one year ago and today right after my dog passed this song came on 💜
Still listening in 2024. Timeless!
My dad had a friend, a skateboarding buddy, and I grew up around him. I’d always looked up to him. I had a little kid crush on him... he was only 22, and was killed in a car accident because the other person was messed up on medicine they were taking. I’m still devastated to this day... this was one of his favorite songs that he wanted played at his funeral. He wrote a poem about dying a couple months before he died... it’s kind of like he sensed he was going to. I have the shirt with his poem on it. I miss you so much... so so much.
Yours is a really heartbreaking story, and I'm sure he's watching over you. It's sad that we have to go through that kind of pain, but our lives are made of highs and lows. I need to ask you this, and I don't want to sound impolite, but would you be mad if I asked you to share the poem with us? Art is supposed to be appreciated after all.
Ronaldo Oliveira absolutely. I’ll pull he shirt out tomorrow that has it written on the back to share. It’s late now and I just laid my son down for bed :-) if you wouldn’t mind to comment back tomorrow and remind me, because I may forget!
@@coralime2298 Hey, sup! I forgot to drop by yesterday. Now I'm here 😃
Ronaldo Oliveira hi!
When I’m Gone by Andy Hovis
“For when I die, who would cry?
Thy shall not shed a tear,
instead have a beer
When I’m gone don’t be sad,
rejoice the days that we had
Laugh at the times we shared,
not for the ones that were lost and not shared
Though I may no longer be a being,
I’ll be here, believing isn’t always seeing
Look into the sky,
and wave hello not goodbye
I will not rest,
though I shall make laughs, what I do best
When the winds take your hair a blow,
my fingers running through thy hair you will know
Don’t be sad, not for a while,
look into the stars and crack a smile...”

Green Days fan originally hated this song because using acoustic guitars was not punk and the song sounded too mainstream. So technically this is the worst song ever. According to them at least.
