The sonar pulse (and possibly the hijacked airstrike, I do not know for certain) in the original release of RA1 was a recurring ability once gained and the infiltrated sub pen remained operational and in the hands of the soviets. It also was a map wide ability. The new version, which has you use it once per infiltration and only for a selected area, was probably made as a form of game balance/quality of life improvement for the remaster.
My favorite “disguised” unit was the empire’s “sudden transport”, as it could disguise itself as any land or naval unit. Leading to absurdly hilarious results. You could use one to disguise itself as a tank when driving on land, but where’s the fun in that when you can disguise it as a battleship/ carrier/ dreadnought and just drive around enemy bases. Where in the units at the base just look upon this massive naval warship casually driving around on land think “Ah yes, what a totally innocuous and in no way suspicious occurrence this is”
18:48 Technically, the Psychic Dominator disaster happened concurrently to the third great war, because, as Carville put it: "You know, a man can blow a fuse by getting his mind around this time travel stuff..."
I know the reason why Spies do not emerge from any buildings after they sabotaged them is gameplay balance, but from a realistic standpoint, actual spies are caught in no man's land for their jobs. Although Sun Tzu, who was credited for writing The Art of War, was an advocate for the use of spies (the last chapter in The Art of War is dedicated to this topic), he also warned that if any plans were leaked before they were carried out, both the leaker AND spy must be eliminated, even if both were on your side. Based on this logic, I have to guess that after a successful sabotage, the best case scenario is to assume the Spy has escaped by himself with no help (meaning the Commander cannot order him around until he makes it back, presumably as a "new" Spy unit). Otherwise, it's safe to assume the Spy is lost after he had been subdued by security personnel, and most spies in real life are quickly neutralized to prevent them from leaking out any secrets to their paymasters.
I remember one mission where a spy plants bombs in the players base (Soviet base) and is detonating the buildings one-by-one until you catch him. Always made me wonder why the spy didn't just detonate all the bombs at once.
1. Saboteur and Spy are quite different. Why would he even have the Kosygin/Stavros sprite with the TibDawn Commando's "I've got a present for ya!" line? 2. You see, it is the slow blade that penetrates the shield. He just blowing up the important structures(War Factory, ConYard, Refinery, certain defenses) to disadvantage you so the Allies can easily destroy that Forward Command Center you're protecting.
I can not even describe nor express how much i love your videos anymore, keep up the great work can't wait for the next masterpiece...now excuse me I'm grabbing some snacks & enjoying this masterpiece, до свидания.
*TWO-FACED MONGREL!* (insert Among Us *"U SUS"* theme here) 6:05 Northern(PS1 default) route huh... I prefer the center route myself since Tanya can blow up the bridge leading to the prison so no Attack Dog intervention. 16:04 That's only because the Yuri Prime in Yuri's Army *IS YURI HIMSELF!* Epitome of "You want something done right, you gotta do it yourself". 18:00 Other reports indicate that the commander captured the base guarding the Battle Lab(using Engineers that survived a plane that got shot down) and used it to train Engineers to capture one of the Silos and launched its nuke at the other Silo to destroy it. 21:40 Sadly it won't reset the timers of support protocols so that Orbital Downpour is still going to destroy your bunched up Power Plants, (sarcastic)haha. 22:00 Yup, just infiltrate a Battle Lab and watch an entire fleet of Kirovs crash for no reason. Oops, *DID I DO THAT!?* (insert Joker laugh here) 22:21 Every man has his price. One thing I like about RA3's Spies is they talk like James Bond(who may been Westwood's inspiration for the Spy in the first place).
Chrono-Ivans was a Soviet secret unit. Soviets would be able to mind control a spy (before Yuri's Revenge) and get access to spies that way. Allies would get Psi-Corp Commandos if they infiltrate a Soviet Battle Lab and Chrono Commandos if they infiltrated a Allied Battle Lab
In vanilla Red Alert 2, not in Yuri's Revenge. Secret units are now just 1 per infiltrated Battle Lab. Chrono Commando for Allied Battle Lab, Chrono Ivan for Soviet Battle Lab, and Psi Commando for Yuri Battle Lab(considering a Spy *DOES* make it).
Then, the Generals came. No more Spy for Allies. Now we welcome the annoying units, the Hijacker and the Sabotager. I was a victim of Technical Hijackers where the vehicle is full of them and my battalion of level 3 Paladin scrap metal.
I would like to point out that in Red Alert 3 one of the allied commanders Lissette Hanley was a former French spy as it says in her bio (despite her American accent) and she is the only AI commander to make use of the spy making her somewhat annoying to fight against.
Spies are taught accents if it's required for their cover, she probably just kept it out of habit, or maybe her commander position is an elaborate cover story in itself
It depends on the topic. Generally speaking the longer the video, the longer it takes to make. Gathering the necessary gameplay footage usually doesn't take to long, though research and gameplay recording tend to go hand in hand. The script writing and audio editing take up the most amount of time for me.
Interestimgly, a spy in RA2 cam disguise himself as a rocketeer but he will still walk. Not sure a human player will mistake a slow-walking rocketeer as his own unit
If that human player wasn't paying attention. There's also a Chrono Legionnaire that's walking instead of teleporting... That won't rouse sus... BS! (head shot!) You're an *EMBARRASSMENT* to Spies everywhere!

The new version, which has you use it once per infiltration and only for a selected area, was probably made as a form of game balance/quality of life improvement for the remaster.
Sonar Pulse and Parabombs are recharging specials as long as the infiltrated Sub Pen and Airfield respectively are still standing.
Dude these are so awesome and underrated 😅
Wow as usual man!
Can't wait to see each faction's tanks video
Gotta love how C&C RA had James Bond as a Unit.
One thing you missed. In RA3, if you garrison a spy in a building or vehicle, they will get access to a sniper rifle
No, that's only if the Spy garrisons a Multigunner Turret or boards a Multigunner IFV.
You'd think the spies would be FRENCH.
Not really, since they are a clear reference to James Bond, the voice lines being based on Sean Connery
@@weldonwin I just mean that in that sort of WWII ish era the French had the strong spy network.
Then it would be TF2 all over again.
Instead of doing espionage, they sabotage stuff and backstab prople!
@@louievelayo4100 So Shinobi, but French?
Looks like the allies brought the leader of the Thieves Guild himself, the Gray Fox, to the war.
It’s all over lawbreaker, your spree is at end
Nice video. 🙂
For king and country!
Let's gooo!
Spies were the most fun in RA2. Chrono Commandos for the win.
....Another example solidifying team fortress mod of its rts influence along with the engineer.
*TWO-FACED MONGREL!* (insert Among Us *"U SUS"* theme here)
6:05 Northern(PS1 default) route huh... I prefer the center route myself since Tanya can blow up the bridge leading to the prison so no Attack Dog intervention.
16:04 That's only because the Yuri Prime in Yuri's Army *IS YURI HIMSELF!*
Epitome of "You want something done right, you gotta do it yourself".
Oops, *DID I DO THAT!?* (insert Joker laugh here)
22:21 Every man has his price.
New vid dropped!!!!!!
Operation underway
Then, the Generals came. No more Spy for Allies. Now we welcome the annoying units, the Hijacker and the Sabotager. I was a victim of Technical Hijackers where the vehicle is full of them and my battalion of level 3 Paladin scrap metal.
Where are videos about allied armor and Soviet armor?
I would like to point out that in Red Alert 3 one of the allied commanders Lissette Hanley
was a former French spy as it says in her bio (despite her American accent) and she is the only AI commander to make use of the spy making her somewhat annoying to fight against.
Spies are taught accents if it's required for their cover, she probably just kept it out of habit, or maybe her commander position is an elaborate cover story in itself
Agent Ready
Oh, by the way Spy in the RA3 seems carry sniper rifle but then only mount these rifles on IFV or turret when they are garrisoned.
No, the sniper rifle is only a weapon configuration when a Spy is loaded into a Mutigunner IFV or Multigunner Turret.
@@louievelayo4100
Yeah so, I do think this is going to be explore more on IFV lore video, maybe.
I don’t like bears!
Then you won't like Cocaine Bear then
Not even Smokey the bear?
when you see your GI in enemy base, but they arent getting shot at
Does it take very long to make these videos because or the lore research?
It depends on the topic. Generally speaking the longer the video, the longer it takes to make. Gathering the necessary gameplay footage usually doesn't take to long, though research and gameplay recording tend to go hand in hand. The script writing and audio editing take up the most amount of time for me.
I don't think this will happen, but is there a chance (for example once you run out of material) will you make videos about Mental Omega?
RA1 and 2 - Spy sounds like Sir Sean Connery
RA3 - Spy sounds like Sir Roger Moore
Interestimgly, a spy in RA2 cam disguise himself as a rocketeer but he will still walk. Not sure a human player will mistake a slow-walking rocketeer as his own unit
If that human player wasn't paying attention.
There's also a Chrono Legionnaire that's walking instead of teleporting...
That won't rouse sus... BS! (head shot!) You're an *EMBARRASSMENT* to Spies everywhere!
@@louievelayo4100 I guess you are right, someone careless or just plain distracted during a match might miss those examples. Though if found, force attack becomes useful there.
Holy shit is your voice relaxing...
I wish that GDI and Nod should use Spies in their mission.

Man forgot how weak RA1 spies were. All that info is totally useless. How full a refinery is with ore thanks totally helpful. Or what infantry they are building when they have a 3sec build time and you can just look.
The sonar pulse could be useful, otherwise Spies are trash in RA1.
And pretty fragile, too. Absolutely no defense against dogs (which are pretty fast and have huge detection radius) or being accidently run over.
