I’d love to see a compilation of your favorite payware airports for the 777
I recognized immediately m'y home airport ! FMEE Roland Garros, Reunion Island (French island).
I flew a lot there as a private pilot and I find this add-on very well done for a freeware.
For information here is also the regional company operatting 777s here. It's called Air Austral. The liveries of this company for the PMDG 777 can be found at flightsimto.
And yes, 777s fly here and the turnaround pads on the runway have the minimum turn radius for 777s. For having been in the real flight-deck of a 777 during a flight there, I can tell you the 180° turn at the end of the runway with max limit weight is impressive.
And Reunion island is a very beautiful place to fly and it's good too in the sim.
Thanks for this video, it's great to know good free sceneries !
Hey Gav , Nice video as always !
For Reunion Island airport, Air France is not the only operator. There's the island's local airline, Air austral, which operates 3 Boeing777s (with unique liveries each) to destinations like Mauritius, Mayotte, Madagascar, Bangkok and of course Paris CDG. Keep up the good work, I'm proud to see my island in one of your videos. :)
Great stuff Gav!
Amazing video! Can you do payware airports next?
Exactly the kind of video I was hoping for - thanks! Would also love to see the payware favorites as well.
Thank you! Yes payware airport list would be great!
does anyone find with the aviotek EDDF the fps for some reason is so bad here - ive had to revert back to the virtualFRA scenery
Thanks, loved the video! And yes, absolutely would love to see your payware list as well. Thanks!
Air Austral also use 777 for Reunion - Paris, Reunion - Bangkok or for shorter flights they also use 777 for Reunion - Mauritius, Reunion - Antananarivo, Reunion - Mayotte
They use a 777 between Reunion and Mauritius?!!
Isn't that less than 150 miles?
@@GregAbott-sl2bo yes it's 150 NM long and yes they do use 777s for these flights. Despite the fact that the 777 is mainly designed for long hauls, many companies use them on very short flights. It's especially the case in Asia for example.
For Air Austral, these flights are normally operated by A220 but the number of passengers makes it difficult to fullfill the need of a large number of passengers during soms seasons. And each crew usually make 4 sectors in a row (with fuel tankering and 45 minutes turnarounds) on these routes for each plane with a small fleet.
So as large capacity is required, the 777 is used for 2 sectors in a row with fuel tankering and 45 minutes turnarounds at least one day per week.
The flight consists in starting the before descent procedure while still in the climb. The workload is higher because concentrated in a short time.
It's very interresting to do it in the sim.
For info in Asia, big volumes of passengers as well as close destinations due to geography and demography also result in this type of use. There were even A380 operating on very short flights and many companies use wide body jets for such trips.
It's always been like that. Back in the 80s until now, B747, Airbus A340, A330 have been used like this. Air Mauritius even had a B747 SP for these flights !
Commercially, the companies know that due to the demand on these kind of flights and the passengers flow, these aircrafts are going to be almost full. It's sure that they will be well above the 80% of passengers in the plane (below this percentage, the company looses money). There are some cons and pros but it's sure that if companies do it, it's because it's commercially worth it.
Friendly.
@@GregAbott-sl2bo yep they also use the 787 sometimes and generally its the REU108/109
@@GregAbott-sl2bo LOL thats crazy... i've seen it on flight radar sometimes tho...
Great list def need to download these.
Most of the Japanese domestic flights are done by 772 (777-200). Star Wars C3-PO ANA is still flying domestically & pops up at Haneda occasionally. The 773 tends to be on longer Haul flights.
Did I miss the links somewhere? I can't see them in the description etc. I imagine there will be multiple versions of some of them. Thanks for the video
Wow very informative video. I already have a couple of these, but the ones I don't have I'll definitely be downloading. Also, EGKK Gatwick is another top class freeware airport.
EDIT: Have you posted links to them? If so I'm an eejit and can't find them lol
Thanks Gavin, helped me find some 777 routes. On another matter, can you recommend a free push back add-on for those of us that don't use GSX. The 777 didn't carry over the 737NGX ability to control push back from the menu.
Hi Gavin, it's nice to see that your top 10 include CYUL and CYVR. it would be nice to see you around here in montreal with your Fenix easyjet 😊
Maybe not in the Easyjet livery 🤣
Thanks Gavin.
Thank you
There is also Air Austral comming in FMEE (La réunion), a custom livery was made by a friend on Flightsim to
Gav, could you list which downloads you are talking about please, just had a look as an example Frankfurt has different downloads, which one do we choose?
The Siamflight Bangkok payware is also very nice
I like also daxing airport, Addis Ababa Mumbai Kuala Lumpur and Helsinki anchorage as free ware airport high quality
Hello Gav! Where can we find the links for these freeware airports?
LATAM also offers flights to Frankfurt with the 777-300ER, from GRU(SBGR), flight number LA8070
and American airlines from kclt to eddf and sure they mainly use 200er's for the route but they have use the 300er for it as well
I noticed A380 folder in your airplanes section, Are you already testing the FBW A380??? :-)
Haha no. This was a freeware A380 We had for a video some time back.
I love the free Helsinki airport
Does the Reunion Islands have the highest Flight Sim Fan Per Capita?
It sounds like Air Austral has a lot of fans.
what is a good free PA addon that is synchronized with the sim?
LukeAirTool
I really like the new Frankfurt airport but it is the only one that is extremely laggy anytime I spawn or approach it, anyone knows why?
I'd throw Gatwick iin there. China Eastern and Emirates are 2 that use the 300ER. I presume there may be more
nICEcAbro
American airlines flys the 300er to eddf if they have as sub for a 200er and they fly the 300er to sbgr from kmia and kdfw so you can use the 300er on 200er routes well atleast for aal
3:25 I don’t want to be rude, but Cargolux actually isn‘t flying the 777F yet, they have 10 777-8F on order + 6 purchasing rights. They will start operation with it in 2027, if of course the Aircraft is approved by then. 😅
What SBGER Scenery? there are 2? 🙂
To sum up you can fly emirates everywhere :)
Singapore airlines also fly a 777 on a route from Singapore to Johannesburg then Johannesburg to cape town as a quick route with 777
BA also fly a 777 into cape town
SQ uses the A350 for that route
bro your thumbnail is the fmee airport the roland garros Reunion airport bro this is at Reunion Island bro THIS IS LITERALLY MY HOME!!!!!YAYYYY!! I'm born at Reunion Island and I Live in Reunion Island it's so cool.
I went to the airport as a passenger but as a spotter too and you will remark that there are these airlines at the airport:
Air Austral : the regional airline. Fleet : 3 777- 300ER , 3 A220-300, and 2 787-8 and this airline is amazing.
Air France : Only 1 777-300ER. But one time I saw a 777-200ER.( They dont have 1 plane, they have just 1 plane for this route : lfpg fmee and its the same plane everytime.
Corsair : A LOT OF A330-900neo and I mean A lot Idk how many.
Air Mauritius : A lot of A339-900neo too, a LOTTTT of ATR72-500, A LOT OF old A330-200( rr engines), A LOT OF new A359 and thats all.
Theres also 1 EWA AIR ATR 72 per week but EWA is owned by Air austral.
Oh btw, do you see the financial situation of Boeing right now?
Well Air Austral is 10times worse. At the edge of bankrupt.
Cuz they pay A LOT OF people to do NOTHING with a VERY HIGH SALARY like you know :
Secretary
Assistant of secretary
Secretary manager
Assistant of secretary manager
Secretary of the assistant of the secretary manager ......
So yeah but I'm happy that u went to reunion in msfs
And sometimes there are EVA SAN . These are called "EVACUATIONS SANITAIRES" in french it means : "MEDICAL EVACUATION" Its just like very sick people from Mayotte("FMCZ, an island near Reunion, still oversea teritorry of france") and they come in an Embraer erj 135LR
Hey but you went to fmee but GO TO FMEP I LIVE NEAR THIS AIRPORT like 15MINS.
FMEE st denis is the northern airport and its the biggest
But FMEP Pierrefonds is the southern airport but it is empty since the U KNOW WHAT VIRUS 19.
And airlines just dont wanna come there anymore so yeah.
But you know I'm 15 so You know that in france a law was adopted so 15 years old school students for the end of the year have to like an internship in an enterprise but like you dont have to sleep there you just go like same hours than school.
Anyway so I did my internship there(FMEP) and It was SO COOL.
I saw An AIR AUSTRAL A220 F-OMER land .
I heard the whale noise from the first time of my life.
I saw all the ground operations live like 4meters away.
It was literally GSX IN REAL LIFE
The loader guy the guy that was unloading the luggage he was fun he was doing arm pull ups with the luggage haha.
Plus the SAME GUY was driving the PAX STAIR RAMP.
Plus he was the loadsheet guy HE WAS DOING THE WEIGHT AND BALANCE
I saw a REAL OFP PAPER and I Held it in my hand.
When he drived the pax ramp he smiled at us and did a dab.
He said in our language " téééé sort devant!!!!!!"""".Its the local language of the island
In english it means: " BRO GET OUT HAHA"
I went in the atc and it was fun.
Anyways I'm happy you went at reunion island in msfs.
And I dont think you read this comment so far.
Anyway have an exellent day my friend who drinks PROPER TEA ( and BEER)

British people are awsome, ill travel to england in 1month to the Farnborrough airshow. Cant wait
Why for PMDG 777? Isn't it applicable to all types of Aircrafts?
Camera views, GSX profile, Simbrief profile are bound to aircraft)
