      It’s an in house design with that truck. We have more in stock that would be a diy version of that

    Appreciate the time you took to make the video. This has given me the confidence to install a set of my own on my Duramax. Thanks!

    • @mopar1darrell
      @mopar1darrell  7 років тому

      Motodrew no problem. On your d-max you can trim the bottom of your spring hangers and flip half of your e break bracket out to the side and put a much cleaner shorter set on if you're not already real lifted

    • @Motodrew
      @Motodrew 7 років тому +1

      I've got an 8" Fabtech lift I'm going to settle as much as possible. I'll be going to 4" tapered blocks in the rear. Looks like I should be able to find room for the brackets next to the shock hangers.

    You answered every question I've had that's hindered me from building my own. I was looking at going 72" myself with a stock setup. I'm putting a 3" rear lift and 4.5 inch front. Hopefully the traction bars won't need much modification after the lift is installed. I'm a fairly skilled welder/fabricator with quite a few years under my belt. I'm near certain I can iron out the kinks on the minor details but your video was exactly what I needed to see to give me the inspiration to make it happen. That's one saaweeet ass truck too brother. That body didn't come out of my parts. The 68's and all years in between are near extinction. They're like finding a needle in a haystack when one is even salvageable. Keep up the good work.

      Hell I'm from Cape Cod, MA...I see the letters FFS and I instantly think of the first gen back when you guys started doing those awesome tire letters. When I think of FFS I think of two straight forward guys who make some of the best diesel performance edits/videos, and that everyone raves about your traction bars, grills, stack kits, and that awesome stack/tonneau kit. You guys are definitely well respected not only for the products/footage you supply, but for always being stand up guys willing to interact with people like me

    • @mopar1darrell
      @mopar1darrell  7 років тому +1

      Austin L can no problem. Just a $ upgrade. Shouldn't be any issues but a rubber bushing does insure no noises or vibrations but I don't think it would be an issue. Especially if you ordered it with right hand and left hand sets, then you could easily put a touch of tension on it

  • @westone93

    Great videos on the suspension stuff and love the olderduty would love to do a 6.0 dent side built one of these days. I built a 4-link for my truck in the front when I did an 05 axle swap, just curious if the 3 link setup is possibly a better ride quality than a 4 link would be and why you went that route?

    • @mopar1darrell
      @mopar1darrell  7 років тому +1

      westone93 I wouldn't say better ride quality, the radius arm is pretty simple compared to a 4 link. On this ford I didn't want the brackets any lower and most 4 links for it hang lower. Otherwise on the dodge it's mostly about space

    • @westone93
      @westone93 7 років тому

      mopar1darrell Gotcha, ya I agree the 4 link brackets stick down further and can limit clearance. Looks good tho keep up the good work

    I know this videos is old, but I’m in the process of building a set of trac bars and I have everything ready to go other than the brackets because I’ve been told you’re not supposed to weld to the bottom of a frame because it can “weaken” it. What are your thoughts on that?

    I was looking at your site and came here looking for some advice. I have a Ford F 350 dually lifted 8 inches( crew cab, long bed). What length you do advice for it? Note, that I do like to get past the fuel tank and frame drops around that point( 81 inch from axle).

  • @ArcticAstrophysics

    Hey Darrell, question, I went with larger arced springs with my 4 inch lift to get rid of the block, so my leaf springs sit directly on my axle, do you still think I should install trac bars? Or do you think that would be a waste of money

    • @mopar1darrell
      @mopar1darrell  7 років тому +1

      ArcticAstrophysics springs can still wrap even with no block, just ask the muscle car guys with no block or spring under. The reason they aren't a waste of money is because the time you need them you will be violently hopping and therefore have to quit or worse yet a yoke or u-joint breaks. Your springs are a nice mod though

    So did you only do a "1 wheel peel" because you have a LS rear diff? and if so what did you do get both wheels to spin? My 03 7.3l will sometimes do one and sometimes both.

      @mopar1darrell  7 років тому +1

      +Garrett Adams the ford factory lsd leaves a lot to be desired. In great condition they still do just what you said happens to yours, and mine. Im fixing the issue with a YUKON GEAR duragrip lsd. I expect it's performance to be similar to my oem dodge powr-lok , they are brutes and never slip a tire

    • @Cake41579
      @Cake41579 5 років тому

      From my personal experience, the LSD in these trucks started out, fresh from the factory, locking better and more consistent than they do once they're worn. If your experiencing locking issues, you may want to try a lube change with a really good 75w 140 syn with friction modifier in either the additive or premixed steaight from the maker. I recommend Royal purple or amsoil to help the clutches engage more consistently. I'm not saying it will cure those issues but will most likely help to some degree. Obviously, once the clutch plates get so worn, there isn't much you can do besides a rebuild with a locker of some sort. But fresh fluids of the best quality sure isn't going to hurt anything when. It comes to LSD. GOOD LUCK.
