  • Traction bars are a necessary upgrade when increasing the horsepower on your diesel truck to prevent the axle from twisting which can lead to broken u-joints, driveshafts, and even twisted axle housings. Our traction bar brackets bolt on to the bottom of the axle tube via the axle u-bolts and weld to the frame on the front end. We use a high-quality RockJock rebuild-able and grease-able “Johnny Joint” connection at the frame to allow for adjustment of torsion on the axle or if you raise/lower the rear of your truck. At the axle connection, we use a heavy duty Poly Urethane Bushing for decreased noise and vibration which is a common complaint if a solid heim is used on both ends. Grade 8 hardware connects the bars to the mounts on the frame and axle. We complete our traction bar kit with our professional in house powder coat process in your color choice and comes standard with a epoxy Primer base coat before the final color which increases corrosion resistance by more than ten times compared to just your standard powder single coat application.

    Could you answer me this question. I have a 2018 Ram 2500 6.7 With the 4link suspension on the back . And a local shop told me I couldn’t install traction bars on mind. Because of the 4link Is that true??? But they did mention I could Upgrade the 4link

    • @WCFab
      @WCFab  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your patience with our delayed reply. We missed your comment and it got buried in our inbox. Traction bars are not necessary for 4 linked suspensions such as what your 2018 Ram 2500 is equipped because the design of the suspension already negates the axle wrap issue commonly encountered in leaf spring designs due to the way the control arms connect to the axle. Hope that explanation helps. Please give us a ring at 630-277-8239 with any further questions.

    What welding instructions come with the kit? I ask because most OEM frame rails are made from high-tensile steel which requires preheating and controlled temperatures to prevent heat shock when welding. Are the new aluma-duty Ford frames now made from plain ol' mild steel?

      @@noone42069 Yes, I know they are steel frames, but what grade of steel? I had a 2017 F250 and now have a 2022 F250. It makes a big difference if you plan to do any welding on them. Do it wrong and the steel will crack and possibly fail.

    How much bind or limited suspension movement can I expect while towing heavy or off road

    • @WCFab
      @WCFab  4 роки тому

      That will honestly depend a bit on how you define towing heavy and off road use. Expect a set of bars to firm up suspension feel when towing. We run them on our shop trucks that pull loaded gooseneck trailers and competition sleds regularly with no issues. We would not recommend them for applications chasing RTI scores, but they will be just fine for running through fields or unpaved roads.
      Please give us a call at 630-277-8239 to discuss your truck, suspension modifications, and how you use it with one of our specialists and we would be happy to help answer your questions and make a recommendation that will work best for your needs.

    I understand axle wrap, but when the suspension compresses, doesn't the traction bar force the axle rearward??

    • @caddidon
      @caddidon 3 роки тому

      No because the suspension is not creating power or torque to the axle, therefore the axle stays level as it should. The suspension compresses downward and has no effect on the axle

    • @mylifeofchaos
      @mylifeofchaos 2 роки тому

      The shackle on the rear of the leaf spring will swing to allow what you're thinking. Look at the front connection of the leaf spring. If the rear was the same, the suspension would not compress and you would have a bumpy ride.

      It honestly depends on how much lift you're talking about. Going from stock height to a level or mid lift you should have sufficient adjustment where the bar meets the Johnny Joint at the front to compensate. Anything beyond that and you'll be looking at changing bar length and possibly be relocating the front frame brackets. No. Just about any leaf spring rear can benefit in many ways with traction bars. If your doing burnouts and have wheel hop it will help, towing, hard acceleration, or even just cruising believe it or not. All of the above will make the rear diff pitch upward changing the driveline angle and that will cause vibration, wear, breakage all depending on how much axle wrap we’re talking about. There are videos where people show their axle wrap, some are very gnarly and make you want traction bars. In my case my axle wrap is noticeable at 50mph and higher when I’m giving enough throttle to maintain speed. The springs are soft enough to let the axle pitch upward just enough to cause a light vibration. If I do a hard launch there is no vibes because the drive shaft isn’t up to speed like it would be at 50+ but the wrap would be extreme enough to cause excessive wear and or breakage eventually. The difference in having vibes or not can be tenths of a degree in angle change. If your going to be doing some serious off-roading or care about your ground clearance get a single triangulated bar. If it’s mainly a street truck you can get away with the 2 bar setup like this vid. Sorry for the long explanation.
