    Walmart should’ve kept the onboarding strict from the get go, driving for good companies is a privilege…not a right.

      The only way a yard driver goes from yard driver to walmart driver is through the Associate to driver program. Which is very rare.

    I passed on boarding this past Thursday. 6 out of 17 drivers made it in the very end. 8 had to retest on Friday. Your pretrip guide really helped me so I want to thank you for that. At the DC that I was at, they really work with you on the pre trip but if you’re hitting curbs while driving or hitting trailers they will let you go on the 2nd or 3rd day. We all studied together but some people just couldn’t get the pretrip down. They even let us study on the trucks after class. We were also scored on our body of work throughout the week so if you hit a curb on the very first day, but were perfect all the way through Thursday, you would have to retest everything on Friday. Your videos really helped me prepare for everything though and I’m glad I did research before going in to this blindly. Thank you, I’ll be out of DC 6823

    I just graduated onboarding on this past Friday. Was definitely no picnic and 30% of our class didn’t make it. 7 out of 10 made it. The group was great and we all tried to help each other as much as we could. The CDTs and fleet development were also great and helpful when they could be. Starting at WCH tomorrow for orientation. @@WalmartRich also just for reference… we expected to be able to practice the pre trip on an extra truck but they would not make that available to us. They said they quit doing that about a month ago. They did run thru the pre trip once at a slow pace methodically, and allowing questions on Monday and then again at normal speed on Tuesday.

    I went through Seymour about a year and half ago.,no problem. At least one bobtail was parked at the hotel. Myself and others in my group were out there every evening going over the steps expected by CDT s. Recruits seem to be their own worst enemy.
    As you said Rich, pay attention. They're going to show and demonstrate what is expected and they want to see. Take a deep breath and just do it. Take the opportunity to break bad habits anyone could have, follow the demo that is presented for every step during onboarding.

    • @WalmartRich
      @WalmartRich  9 місяців тому +1

      They had to stop putting a truck at the hotel. Because it was unfair to those who lived nearby and commuted every day. It was a great thing for people to do, but they can no longer do it out of fairness.

    Yeah, based on what I've seen on youtube before onboarding and what I saw during onboarding last week.. Things got tightened up a lot. People were getting eliminated on tuesday and wednesday. Passing everything on Thursday wasn't good enough if you failed assessments on tuesday or wednesday. I'm not mad about it though, they have a reputation to keep and they have the right to react to things that happen. I'm probably going to give it another shot after a couple months, now that I've experienced it and I feel I can ace everything on the first shot next time around. At first, I wasn't planning on reapplying, but now, I think I will
    Either way, I appreciate what you do here, and the other guys too (20plus, John out of Porterville, etc). I never felt that I was mislead at all by any of you. Stay safe out there 😎

      @brtecson 17 днів тому

      @@manager4409 based on your name, i'm guessing you work retail and aren't a truck driver but i could be wrong lol.. but yeah, parking/backing everywhere causes accidents because there are a lot of cdl-mills that crank out cdl-holders that cant drive (or back up) for squat. people get their bumpers torn up by bad drivers all the time at truck stops etc. as for walmart, some of the docks *can* be difficult for inexperienced drivers. there is one particular dock layout that walmart has in some of its stores that's the most difficult, and that's the layout of the test.

    Seems like this might have been from my class. All week guys were hitting trailers (Mon-Wed) and failing Pre-Trip. I used your guide and studied for a month prior to onboarding. I was getting 100% on everything all week. Test day rolls around and I was accused of breaking barrier prior to second get out on the backing. (Which was incorrect) I did ask for a time check and backed up into the hole prior to it being mentioned. I was told after getting out once again that I failed for breaking barrier on previous attempt despite during that attempt getting out, doing a 360, & asking for a time check. No mention of an infraction then, only later. That being said 3 of the drivers who hit trailers and failed Pre-Trip during the previous 3 days did pass.

    @susgamer2070 10 місяців тому +1

    I'm not a CDT or anything, but I was told if you don't track 1 the driving on each day or hit a trailer backing at any point, they fail you. BUT you can still do finishing school if you struggle a bit on pre-trip. Basically they expect you to know how to drive and back out the gate... they can help teach you the Walmart pretrip. Again, I could be wrong, that's just what I've heard.

    • @WalmartRich

      @manager4409 17 днів тому

      what is track 1 and 2? I don't understand how these guys have years experience backing between trucks to park every night yet at this onboarding thing they hit trailers....are they making you do a 90 degree park or something?

    • @susgamer2070
      @susgamer2070 9 днів тому +2

      @@manager4409 track 1 means you pass everything each day. It's not a 90 (or wasn't when I went through) but it is very limited room and a very tight spot between trailers. Believe it or not, most of our spots at DCs are tighter than truck stop parking in most cases. Most guys I saw fail where simply going too fast.. you just have to slow down and do your 360(s) and you'll be fine. They give you more than enough time to safely back in on the test.
