What's wrong with a discount, I've never paid retail for any watch, wouldn't dream of it. There's plenty of profit in there for them to negotiate. So funny to see a buyer complaining that a retailer is offering a discount! ;-)

Go grey and save 20-25% or go retail and pay full price, but know they may also reduce the price during a sale so you may want to wait. it’s a simple decision isn’t it?

Interesting video! I think you will see more and more of this even from the “crown”. The world economy is declining, a lot of layoffs (especially here in the U.S.), and people are spending money on normal things now. Watch brands will put things on sale.

It’s called competition Brendan, it’s a free market, there is a lot less money about and jewellers need to shift units to pay their staff and overheads. Forget about ‘protecting the brand’, this is survival for the AD’s. Omega are not in the league of Rolex or Louis Vuitton, they are part of the Swatch Group, not market leaders in the luxury sector. Omega are not Veblen Goods, it’s not a flex to wear an Omega.

These AD’s have been forced to drop the watches by 20% or they’ll sell nothing. They are not ‘rogue dealers’ as you call them, it’s market forces. You are barking up the wrong tree, nobody is devaluing the brand, people aren’t willing to pay 2022/23 prices for Omega watches in 2024.

Unfortunately some people may be kicking themselves that the car they bought last year is now 7k cheaper but that’s economics for you. I enjoy your channel but your ranting about Omega is irrational with respect, their AD’s are fighting for survival. All watches are the same, look at the market prices of Rolex they are also 25% down. Of course Rolex are sitting pretty at retail price but that’s because they can’t make enough watches to satisfy demand. Omega are not in that position, their market price is the retail price and their AD’s are being forced to reduce it. They are probably still paying Omega the same price but are now making 25% per unit instead of 50%. You didn’t have a crystal ball when you bought those watches at 2023 prices but just enjoy them, there is no point getting bitter with Omega because the world economy is slowing down.

Brendan, there’s a sale on watches because they have excess inventory. It’s not “rogue” selling; it’s just business. These watches aren’t selling well, which is why they’re being price-matched. Your watches aren’t worth as much as they were last year-accept it and enjoy the fact that watches are finally cheaper.

Luxury watches outside of Rolex, AP and PP have mever held their value on the secondary market. If you buying an omega at retail your losing at least 50% when you walk out the door. In 2019 a Speedmaster Moonwatch retailed at 4k and was available all day long for less than 3k on the secondary matket.
interest rate in 2019 was so low compare to now, I can't imagine what the prices will be after a year of highly elevated interest rate.

Not entirely true. My 1861 Speedy has appreciated since I got it in 2018. Not any where near approaching the investment type of appreciation of the brands you mentioned but certainly not depreciated. I also have the green dial 300m seamaster and that has pretty much held the value I paid last year. Mind you, I did get a boutique discount which is pretty much standard practice with Omega.
The issue is we can hate Omega for the discounts, but the flip side is that they can go the route of Rolex, AP, PP and keep the demand above supply, as they did with the Snoopy or 321. But we seem to hate that more. Guess there's no pleasing us.

Price fixing is illegal/anti-competitive, so if the ADs want to have a price war, that's fine by me, because I don't want to pay full price for the Moonwatch I plan to buy this year.

These assholes at swatch group are slowly damaging Omega’s brand. They need to clean up the catalogue, sort out the ranges, lower the prices, I mean how the hell is an Aqua Terra more expensive than the Seamaster 300M. I own multiple brand new (at the time) Omega’s. Didn’t pay full retail price for any of them. Between 10%-37% off, which now are historical prices. Based on low ball 2024 secondary market prices, I’d probably make about 95% of my money back. The thing is though, I didn’t buy them to sell them. I bought them to enjoy in the long term. Buy watches cos you like them. Buy them cheaper if you can, everyone’s a winner. If you want to invest, do not buy watches, especially more so at full retail price! 😂

You bought from an official Omega boutique and formed a good relationship with them that helped you get the snoopy and also the 321… Two watches that are near impossible to get through ADs.
In other words, you can buy Omegas through ADs and get discounts but you never get the hard pieces.

this rant is lost in the sauce. You're complaining about access to discounts which was how the market was 8-10 years ago. You must be new to collecting watches. And as for the secondary resale market...plenty of other brands selling on the secondary for huge discounts - PP annual calendars and world timers for vast savings over retail...you can buy a SD or YM or even Explorers below retail on the secondary market. Seems like a bizarre rant without any real understanding of the market.
Omega is going Boutique only to avoid discounting, However leaving the dumped AD’s with the stock to discount heavily. It a badly managed process.
If...... When Rolex start selling under retail will we get similar videos about Rolex? The brands sell to these retailers at wholesale so they are allowed to sell at whatever they want. Just like some Rolex dealers make you join a fake waiting list while selling you bs DJ in the hopes of getting a plain submariner while other dealers will sell a brand new sub to first guy who walks thru the door. It's wild wild West out there with dealers. I'm the States you can buy new Cartier at discounts as well. The only brands protected are AP, Patek, VC. Everything else can be bought and is advertised at some point on sale.
The sellers market in the post covid bubble where too many people overpaid for watches and then kept doing so even with each price hike is the root cause of where we are now. The market is now a buyers market and AD's are now having to discount to prop up falling sales. The issue with Omega is that they have been too greedy with their increases and they now don't know what to do......they cant reduce the rrp so they are moving stock through AD's with promotions. This issue has been caused in part by naive buyers overpaying and some now crying about it because of the discounting - they should be angry with themselves and not the brand. Talking of brand damage is nonsense.....nobody will remember in another 12 months time IMO.

Obviously the brand is not as popular as it was. They are not going to hold the prices to protect your collection. Quite fancy the moon watch at 5.7k. Just means your collection is now worth 20% less. Deal with it pal.
I do get the disappointment about Omega. Personally i think it should be about the watch itself. Retail prices, popularity , hype , resale etc shouldn't matter. If you love the watch, keep it and enjoy it... if you don't then get rid

My AD is doing 40% off all omega . Told me it’s because they will be no longer be stocking omega . They didn’t do this online they sent out private msgs through watsapp to there VIP clients . 40% off is crazy . I’m in Sydney australia

To be fair, the 321 is limited production. No AD will give u a discount on the 321. And it will never happen on the James Bond 60th anniversary. We all know that discounts are offered on regular catalogue watches.

You know that juicy discount on the Aqua Terra Titanium Worldtimer is the straw that broke the camel's back for Brendan. Beautiful watch but I just find it laughable how those luxury watch brands put such a markup on titanium compared to stainless steel.

No one in this situation did anything wrong. The AD offering a temporary discount is trying to get customers by offering a good deal. Trying to tattle to Omega as a CUSTOMER is baffling. The former AD trying to liquidate its stock of a brand it no longer carries is only natural, and Omega would have no control over this anyway, good for the people who picked up those watches at a steep discount. Omega, by way of their boutique, went above and beyond to make you happy, even accepting a return of a highly desirable watch, now in a worn condition with activated warranty (I.e. not sellable as new). I’m sure the boutique employees have a nice chuckle about the guy who returned an Ed White because some other AD was selling different watches at a discount. The moral of the story is, if you want to buy an omega at a discount, buy from an AD. If you prefer to build a relationship with a boutique, shop there, but know you’ll be paying full retail. This latter option is probably only worth it if you’re interested in boutique exclusive or hard to get pieces.
Had same experience. Paid top ££ for a brand new Omega Planet Ocean last year. Tried but could not get even a pound in discount.OK, fair enough - dont ask, dont get. Really wanted the watch , paid the price they wanted and still love the watch. At the Omega Boutique I made the purchase at ( v nice, helpful folks) they reassured me , just like Rolex, the prices are strictly set by Omega and same prices everwhere but..........within 6 weeks , I started seeing UK Omega dealers advertise the same watch brand new for £2,500 less. These were not Xmas/ New Sales either. it left a very sour taste in the mouth so have lost trust and faith in Omega. Looks like Omega have lost control of a number AD's in this respect as I have seen more and more HEAVY knockdown prices from uk Omega AD's for brand new pieces on google feed but if i try and buy the very same piece from Omega website direct or Omega Boutique in Oxford St , these same watches will cost me 3K more. So why bother. Frustrating. You are right Brendan, it cheapens the brand.

I get where you're coming from, but unfortunately you've just gotten caught up in the hype along with many other people and have been taken to the cleaners. Omega have taken crazy pills with their prices, I called it years ago seeing the NTTD go from 7k to 9k. You can tell they're looking at the business from the perspective of the Swatch Group rather than Omega itself, and planning some sort of bait n' switch to elevate Omega from 5K watches to 10K+ watches.
This is nothing new when it comes to Omega. Over the past 5-6 years a lot of the discounting went away for Omega, especially when the watch market saw massive growth, but before then getting 10% off in the states didn’t take any negotiation and you could very easily get at least 20% off or more on most models. It wasn’t that long ago you could negotiate a discount on Rolex Subs. I do understand your frustration by discounting, especially with a brand like Omega. The one question that came to my mind was how long you’ve been collecting because if it’s been longer than the past couple of years, this wouldn’t surprise you nearly as much.

Yes and No - Agree and Disagree - let me elaborate: there are only a few watch brands that appreciate value over time, this is only a phenomenom, which works by manipulating the economies of scale, in other words the supply quantity of the products. Omega is in a tough situation, they try to stop discounts, but they sometimes cannot, IWC had the same problem when the Far East watches were sold for 40% discounts and than reimported for sale to Europe years back. Specifically to your video my feedback is that you accepted the game when buying a few watches full price first to get a JB 60th anniversary model and silver snoopy, so why the resistance now on price drops on the short run? I believe this was now very impulsive from your side and you might want to wait a few yeara how the situation develops before you burn all ties with Omega. See people laugh and make fun of Paul Pluta but he has been telling us "punters" for years to not buy OMEGA, JLC, Breitling, IWC, Tudor, at retail.
So they're dumping and discounting them. I mean, so what? I'm in full agreement with my man bcarr below, because if you look at an item-at a price-and you're happy to pay that price, then whatever happens thereafter, so what? Personally, I have never got wrapped up in what someone else did or did not pay for something I was happy to buy at a given time on a given day.
This is why the grey market is your friend. Most watches trade at below MSRP on the secondary market. So why buy from the AD? ADs don't care about us.
So let me get this right. You paid full price for several Omegas when you should not have and now you returned one of the few Omega where paying full price isn't entirely unreasonable. Oh yeah, that'll show them 😅

Here are my thoughts…
Have never seen a 321 or Snoopy at a discount. You got those pieces because of your boutique history not a discounted AD history.
Am sure you would agree that it is very unusual to just walk into a boutique and leave with a 321 without any history. Supply and demand is the main reason.
We all know that the rarer pieces are mostly saved for the brand owned boutiques. Swatch favoring certain clients and their own boutiques is a different discussion.
The ADs can sell inventory for whatever price they want, and even with a discount they are still making money!! Am sure Omega is not happy about this because of the brand image, and perhaps this is why they are reducing the number of ADs. If Omega sees you discounting too much you may lose your AD status, and as one of the top selling brands that may hurt, and is a decision the AD needs to make. Some short term pain for Omega but probably better in the long run.
Boutiques want to keep brand prestige high so do not usually offer a discount, otherwise they would be marketing like Invicta 😂.
Agree with you about the prices going up too much, but Omega is still doing okay in the big picture.

It is a market. If the dealer's can't sell it at one price it is natural that they will lower it to get the thing out the door. They are not running a museum. They need to move stock.
Problem is Omega is trying too hard to "be like Rolex" rather then just embrace what they are and where they are situated in todays market. So when there is no interest they discount ... of course sucks for us that bought at full price ...

I'm also a bit confused on your stance. If you were buying any of your current Omega watches at these discounts would you report them to Omega? Many aren't aware the Rolex Dayton as well as the green submariner went thru a phase years ago where dealers were discounting in order to sell them. I'm the States and there are no ads like the ones you've mentioned giving big discounts here. Those few stores there with sales cannot single handedly bring down the value of the brand. I get if you don't like Omega recent models or brand direction but you're actually hurting people who can now afford some of the watches they want by putting this info out. Just my two cents.
No Problem, I’m a Customer not just on here taking about pictures! The double standard has pissed me off enough to take my money elsewhere.
I've actually slowed down on buying watches myself especially Omega because I noticed there weren't too many models that hold value with them. It made me put things into perspective. These are luxury items that sometimes lose value and that's why we have to buy what we really like regardless of value retention. If Porsche starts discounting 911 20% I'm the first one in line wether they hold value or not because I really want one. I'm not bashing your opinion but I think all of us (myself included) were spoiled by some of the fake value retention of watches during the pandemic even with Rolex. Things are settling down a bit now. 😔

It’s the ridiculous price hikes that have killed owning Omega and the AD’s can’t shift them.
My brand new 3861 Sapphire is with out of the box problem. The chronograph hand is stuttering and sometimes seizing the movement. Safe to say I am not impressed and this is a rough first impression of their top of the line iconic watch. While waiting for warranty servicing I wear my trusty 124060 Sub but even when it is fixed I will live with the fear of using the chrono... Really disappointing and will most likely not bother with Omega since the Speedy was their only watch that was interesting to me anyway. I wore it less then 48h...
What did omega say? Surely they will fix this under warranty. Where did you get the watch from? A AD or private party? Hard to compare a dive watch to a chrono too.
@@franky3fingers337 it is currently at an Omega's authorized service center. The only thing comparable is that both were new. One was working out of the box as it should, the other: not so much

Great news being able to buy at a discount from an AD. Omega are not interested in the little guy buying watches is a bit of a gamble. You have posted videos telling people not to pay retail price now you are upset you can buy at discount. Glad you got your money back, you never know your watch might be discounted soon. It's always a gamble.
Those watches are not even worth the reduced prices. Get over it.
I get the frustration but Omega or any brand can’t price fix or enforce retailers to sell at their recommended price. It’s a recommended price for a reason. It’s against trading standards to enforce a price on a retailer. That said, brands have ways round this. The common one being ceasing distribution with a retailer if they don’t like what they see.

I don't blame you. I'll go pre-owned or gray market all day long rather than pay full retail for something so readily available at a big discount. They make too many and there's obviously a huge markup and all they care about is numbers, not customer relationships. I commend Rolex for what they have been able to achieve. But not many can do that, certainly not the big companies making tons of watches.

It looks like the AD Hart watch your videos as I have just checked and they are selling out again at full price. They will risk soon to see their Omega licence being revoked if they continue with their discounting policy. Anyway, I advise you to come to buy here in the UAE where the prices are lower.

We are returning to the normal paradigm. 6+ years ago everyone’s watch box was worth less than they paid at the AD. Grey dealers rarely sold watches over list, Daytonas and vintage desirables were the exception. Just buy what you like and enjoy. This hobby has always been about losing money in one way or the other.
It will start with the other AD,s soon as sales fall off the cliff

And you could on gold and 2 tones Rolex’s back than.
