I remember reading back issues in the 80s and coming across the issue that Gwen died. It was the first time as a kid I realized the stories weren't always happy endings. I also gained an appreciation for physics (in the comic her neck snapped from the sudden stop from Peter webbing her, not her hitting the ground.)
Gwen: I dump you. Reminds me of a line in the TV series Stranger Things, but is actually funny. If you haven't seen the series you should. These are alternate universes. In some, they can be almost identical and in others, there can be similarities and key moments. Spider-Man movies and Amazing Spider-Man movies represent 2 of the many hundreds of universes contained in the MCU multiverse. For most people, it's best just to accept to avoid a stroke. Spider-Man stories are packed full of action, explosions, great one-liners, and gut-wrenching heartache.
It is soooo refreshing to see Stef react to this movie for the first time. This movie continues to get a bad rep for being over-stuffed and convoluted, but for Stef to come away with such a visceral emotional experience and to say that THIS IS ONE OF HER FAVOURITES shows you just how much this movie has merit. Thank you Stef, you are a gem in the reaction circuit. I think you can see now why we were waiting for you to get to this one (especially after seeing your journey with MJ and Toby's Peter Parker). You how the doc Ock and the vulture wings can be at oscorp you have to remember all of the technological advances were achieved at oscorp within the Spider-Man universe generally. In a similar fashion Stark tech is responsible for a lot of technological advances within the MCU. If you're wondering how Harry survived the spider venom. Harry doesn't have all of Spider-Man's powers and they go away completely every once in awhile because despite Harry's DNA being changed if not fully compatible with the Parker bloodline.
This was so hard for me to watch you go through. Seeing you fall in love with Peter and Gwen... I felt the same exact thing in the theater. The giddiness, warmth, and joy of a love that, at the time, was real between the actors. Gwen's death ripped my heart out and still does every time I see it. I knew it was going to do the same to you. This film is also my favorite of the entire collection for all of the same reasons, including the music. No Way Home is a close second. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :) EDIT: I wasn't sure I wanted to post this, because it might come off cringe, but what the hell... I hope you have or find a love which makes you feel that kind of warmth and joy. Take care.

no one conveys the raw despair and sadness like andrew garfield. When hes holding her body and telling her to stay is pure acting masterclass. If you aren't crying with him you have no heart. i still think he is a great spiderman
Gwen Stacy dying was a turning point in Spiderman's career as spiderman. It happened a bit differently in the comics but he was never sure if it was his fault. He almost murdered Goblin afterwards but had to pull himself out of it.
So...Gwen Stacy died almost exactly this way in the comics. She was Peter's girlfriend before Mary Jane, and her death was a huge part of his character growth). The Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies combined elements of Gwen and Mary Jane into their MJ (until adding the weird Gwen INO in Spider-Man 3) to simplify things. When it comes to things like Oscorp and Doc Ock, keep in mind that the movie Spider-Men are two in-many-ways different adaptations of the characters.
Harry is affected negatively. He had to wear the suit because he would die without it. It was like life support so he got the effects of the venom without dying
The Gwen Stacy story is my absolute favorite comic book story of all-time. And I really truly appreciate Emma for bringing the character to life so well. But it's such a tragic story but it makes superhero stories more relatable whenever they do fail like that. We've all tried so hard at something and fail. It's really sad when we fail at something we want so badly but it's also about how we pick ourselves up and keep going. So yes, the Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies are my favorite of them all. Tom Holland may be my favorite Peter Parker/Spidey but the Andrew ones are my favs. And while I do appreciate what Sam Rami & Tobey did...they were kinda just very basic movies. I guess they were just going off the original Superman formula cause there weren't that many superhero movies. But the CGI and stuff that they did absolutely was revolutionary and laid the foundation for every superhero movie to come after it. So I do respect them a ton....but yeah, the movies were lacking. And I agree, Mary Jane was pretty annoying.
This movie is so good. Garfield is phenomenal, the music (Electro Suite), the shots of him webbing around the city, helping people, the drama, the hope, the boss fights.
The absolute agony in Andrew's voice when he realizes Gwen is gone kills me every time I see this movie. It's so absolutely heart breaking to hear and really goes to show how good of an actor he really is.
I'm glad more and more people have come out and said how much they love these Amazing Spider-Man movies and Andrew as Spider-Man/Peter. I feel like at the time you would get shouted down by the Tobey/Original trilogy Stans when it's ok to love them all if you want to
The thing about Gwen Stacy is that, in any version of her, in any story told, she is Peter's first love, and she is always his biggest grief. In the comics after he makes a life with MJ, he would still go every day into his attic and talk to her, her old recordings he had of her, and MJ knew this and supported him through it all. That's Gwen Stacy's story in any version of Spiderman. It's heartwrenching, and she is one of my favorite characters above all, I don't think I'll never not cry while watching this film, or any other that Gwen Stacy is a part of
I still remember when i saw this in the theaters i was like 9 and wore my spider man shirt all the time. And i used to have a poster too that i wish i could find
This came as a shock to readers of The Amazing Spider-Man #121, The Death of Gwen Stacey. She does indeed die when the Green Goblin tosses her off the bridge in a manner similar to the film. Gwen is Parker’s first love and also the tragic victim. Her death is what brings Mary Jane Watson and Parker together. As far as portrayal of characters go, Emma Stone’s performance of Gwen is probably the best of the film versions of Spidey’s love interests. So it still hits hard, even if you knew her fate. In the Multiverse though, there does exist a Spider-Gwen AKA Spider-Woman.
When this movie came out everyone hated it! After I saw this in the theater it was everything I wanted in a spiderman movie and took me back to reading the ultimate Spider-Man comics. The tease at the end for the Sinister Six I was sooo hyped for after it was over ugh and I hate that it will never be continued in this universe. Andrew Garfield is my fav spiderman for me.
Andrew Garfield is one of the best male actors when it comes to showing emotion on camera... like Hacksaw Ridge was another movie that was so freaking amazing.
He chose Gwen 😭 then she dies whyyyy they had a whole future together and he loses the love of his life but his crying scene is so good and heartbreaking
Also the dna in the spiders goes against what Stan Lee says about spider man. In these movies Peter is the bloodline of his father so he can only become spider man but officially anyone can be spider man under the mask. Its an actual famous quote by Stan Lee who created the character
U feel stressed because this movie specifically really dives into how spiderman is feeling but induces this sense of loss struggle and moral battles that he goes through. It’s basically movie about spiderman working through his trauma all while trying to keep everything around him together.
"This movie is my favorite out of the ones I've watched an I'm not even done with it yet"... then it all comes crashing down. 😢 ouch. Right in the feels, right there with you Stef.
Gwen Stacy was Peter Parker's girlfriend before Mary Jane. Her death greatly impacted Spider-Man and comic book universe in a major way back in 1973. She was considered part of his main cast, and it had a catastrophic affect on Peter going forward. Geen had been dead alsmost 3o years at the time of the Tobey McGuire movies were made. She was very likeable by the fans. And many hearts were broken when she died. There was always a question as to whether she died because of a broken neck or was dead before she fell from the Brooklyn Bridge.
Idk why but the Gwen thing at the end reminds me a bit of the super hero show "Invincible". A really great show btw. Would love to see your reactions to it.
I saw this in 3d Imax opening night and when you hear the crack as Gwen breaks her spine you heard this ooh and the sound of everyone in the theatre was instantly sucked out in a giant gasp!
The saddest story is Andrew Garfield was Emma Stone's real boyfriend.. He want to marry with her.. She didnt want to marry somebody and broke up with him for this.. After a few years, Emma Stone married a stranger... He loved her so much in real life.. He didnt handle this situation and he cried so much.. Andrew Garfield.. He became her friend after all that happened.. That last scene was so sad because as a metaphor that was true.. Andrew couldn't hold the Emma Stone in real life and he mourned and cried about it.. That last death scene was a symbolism of their real life relationship..
Well obviously these movies are based on comic books. So the characters will all be similar. It's just the marvel Studios Or sony taking their own takes on these characters to avoid seeing all the same things again. Just Like in Batman movies, Bruce Wayne's parents are supposed to die , same way someone from Peter's life has to die, it's a canon event. He can't have everything otherwise it will be to good be a superhero.
I really wish that they had made the 3rd "Amazing Spiderman" movie like they had initially planned. I love these movies. Watching these movies in the theaters was great. I really enjoyed watching your reactions to the Spiderman movies. I don't know if you recognized Peter's ringtone when he was hanging off the grill of the truck. 5:52 his ringtone is the theme song to one of the older Spiderman cartoons lol. I'm really looking forward to watching your reactions to the other Spiderman movies. Especially "Spiderman: No Way Home". Doc Ock's outfit and stuff that you saw at Oscorp was a reference to the other bad guys and the fact that Oscorp actually had a hand in making a lot of the stuff that the bad guys use. If you think back, Doc Ock, Doc Connors (the Lizard), Electro, the Green Goblin (Harry Osborn), and a good number of the bad guys have ties to Oscorp so it would make sense that a lot of the stuff would be there especially since Oscorp is one of the leading companies in new technology.
It's easier to think of it as three different Spider-Mans. Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man, as they are a little different. Glad you enjoyed these two movies.
Those who have ever felt like a nobody can relate to Max. Everybody wants to be noticed and feel needed. Max didn’t turn himself into Electro, everyone else did. The world really can turn the nicest of people into the worst of monsters.

Thank you for your generosity, genuine spirit and great reactions. I look forward to your reaction to No Way Home!
Andrew's performance is so heartfelt in this film
Talk about a Spiderman movie that was SO UNFAIR to STEF!! Why couldn't Gwen simply make it out alive!!! Heart Breaker. Don't forget the great chemistry and their music..........Our path is your path, STEF!!!! 😘❤
Aww she had no idea what was coming at the start of this movie lol
Take care.
Andrew Garfield has been (since the first Amazing Spider-Man came out) and forever will be my favorite Spider-Man.
I love these weird little experimental Spider-man films.. it should have gotten a third and the true ending as well.. ..Andrew is just such a good spidey too, and Gwen's chemistry.. ..TaSM 💯
Having gwen as a girlfriend sure is back breaking.
🌑
Good one chatter
But it has a lasting impact
And unlike Bruce Wayne, she won’t rise again.
Oh snap

Me:" But some times there is no way home"
As comic book fans we knew Gwen Stacy's fate, but since the movies tend to change things we werent sure if it was going to happen. So when Gwen died it wasnt a complete shock to us.

@@joeyfeeny8814tru but tru
I didn't know that he was doing Kraven the hunter .
But at the same time it was also his idea to have spot be the main bad guy of across the spider verse, crazy how that works
@@Salman-ok6dj Phil Lord and Chris Miller were reluctant with the idea, but they made it work
If they couldn't make it work, they wouldn't have included him
I wanted Marc Webb to have a second chance
But what I didn't wanted was to see him working with Disney on their live-action remake of SNOW WHITE
This is why we need TASM3 and Peter going back in time saving Gwen 💯🍿😢
Nahhhh that would cheapen this movie. I would love a third where he finds a new love years later, though.
we don’t need him to save Gwen💀. That’d be an extremely silly movie. We need to see him healed from that and living a new life.
My favorite Spider-Man movie that's not animated or full of fan service. Glad you loved it
Did anybody else start crying when THAT moment was coming just knowing how devastated Stef was about to be? 😅
no one conveys the raw despair and sadness like andrew garfield.
These are characters based on a comic book series. There's going to be some repeating themes
Stef: "This is my favorite Spiderman movie"
John Cena: "Are you sure about that?" 🤣😭
Yes I'm pretty sure she is😂
Awww if i could give Stef a hug i would 🥺 this scene broke me in theaters, like u jus weren’t expecting her to die….at all..
This is my favorite Spider-Man movie, hands down, obviously the other ones are really good,
Andrew Garfield is the best Spider-Man!!
Harry is affected negatively. He had to wear the suit because he would die without it. It was like life support so he got the effects of the venom without dying
remember this back in the day as a kid such an awesome movie its sad tho looking back at it
The Gwen Stacy story is my absolute favorite comic book story of all-time.
"The hardest part about this job is you can't always save everybody"
Toby can😹😹😹
@@bombauntourage9369He doesn’t☠️
This is one movie I've never seen....because I knew the comics and I knew Gwen's story. I could never bear it. Love your reactions. Thank you
The death of gwen stacy is a really tragic moment in the Spider-Man comics
Such a genuine & heartfelt reaction to one of the most beautiful & heartbreaking scenes.🥺 Loved it ❤️💯
The absolute agony in Andrew's voice when he realizes Gwen is gone kills me every time I see this movie. It's so absolutely heart breaking to hear and really goes to show how good of an actor he really is.
There will be dark days ahead of us too and there will be days when you feel alone, and that’s when hope is needed most. Keep it alive.
i actually love how annoyed/livid you got about it all. Cause thats how we all felt too
I'm glad more and more people have come out and said how much they love these Amazing Spider-Man movies and Andrew as Spider-Man/Peter. I feel like at the time you would get shouted down by the Tobey/Original trilogy Stans when it's ok to love them all if you want to
She was in denial over Gwen's death for 2 mins of the reaction towards the end
This is the best and the most emotional one yet!!!
Man that movie makes us all cry at the end
Nah you made me tear up 😢 Gwen’s part was just too sad for me to see how hurt he was
Starting next month all the Spider-Man Sony live action movies are coming back to theaters. One a week every Monday.
In the UK it's every Saturday in August and September.
Also the dna in the spiders goes against what Stan Lee says about spider man. In these movies Peter is the bloodline of his father so he can only become spider man but officially anyone can be spider man under the mask. Its an actual famous quote by Stan Lee who created the character
Every Spider-Man film is just heartbreaking.
Electro's theme is my favorite villain theme of all time!
That was so intense that I could feel u through the screen
Gwen Stacy was Peter Parker's girlfriend before Mary Jane. Her death greatly impacted Spider-Man and comic book universe in a major way back in 1973. She was considered part of his main cast, and it had a catastrophic affect on Peter going forward. Geen had been dead alsmost 3o years at the time of the Tobey McGuire movies were made. She was very likeable by the fans. And many hearts were broken when she died.
There was always a question as to whether she died because of a broken neck or was dead before she fell from the Brooklyn Bridge.
We Need The Amazing Spider-Man 3 With Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man
“we’re getting the save” LMFAOOO
This movie was crazy in the theatre
Idk why but the Gwen thing at the end reminds me a bit of the super hero show "Invincible". A really great show btw. Would love to see your reactions to it.
Goat!! And so is tobey!! ….. that’s it.
The Tobey movies and the Andrew Movies are not connected. The Amazing Spiderman movies are a remake. Totally different movie universes
It did effect him negatively? That’s the reason he mutated and turned into a freak, that’s why he needed the goblin suit, it heals you over time
I don't understand why they canceled it if they were very good movies, Andrew Garfield deserves TASM3
I cried too 😢😭
"This cannot be happening!"
Welcome to the life of every comic nerd from the 70s to 80s that read the Gwen Stacy Saga.
This movie is so underrated, I love it and it hurts at the end, Andrew Garfield is the best Spiderman miles ahead the rest.
Almost hurt as much when I was a kid reading the comic! 😢 Still have the comic.
Andrew
couldn't hold the Emma Stone in real life and he mourned and cried about it.. That last death scene was a symbolism of their real life relationship..
The "not renewal of contract" is one of the only few weapons that can penetrate Plot Armor.
We would all trade Gwen for MJ💯💯 we feel you Stef😭
I loved the Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies and was upset when we didn't get a third movie
I love Andrew's Spider-Man
I really wish that they had made the 3rd "Amazing Spiderman" movie like they had initially planned.
Oh no. If only he could try again. 😭
Ooooh! Señorita Stef your such a hopeless romantic: Time stamp 6:50💞/14:40💝/42:30💔
Those who have ever felt like a nobody can relate to Max. Everybody wants to be noticed and feel needed. Max didn’t turn himself into Electro, everyone else did. The world really can turn the nicest of people into the worst of monsters.
