My heart busted out of my chest when I watched this scene in the cinema. Those who remembered Gwen were hysterically screaming as MJ fell….followed by cheers after the save.
GOD I wish I had been smart and witnessed this in theaters!!! Nothing like seeing a scene like this and feeling it in your whole body with a room full of other people who feel the same!!!
Well, I wouldn't say it's his fault really, considering it was still Harry that caused her death, he tried to save her and maybe he could have done it a different way. If you notice, in this one he immediately uses his spider web not to catch MJ, which didn't work with Gwen, but to propel himself forward with more momentum, this way he catches MJ himself and then uses the web again to slow his fall and land on his feet. So he did learn from that experience because he couldn't save Gwen that way. That is in a way closure for sure, it's how at least something good came out of it. He could save this other Spider-Man's loved one, because he knew how *not* to do it from his own loss.
For us, it was never his fault, for him it absolutely still was and he still blamed himself and couldn’t forgive himself. But what this did do for him was give him closure. He just needed to know that he could do it. And now he knows he could have. It didn’t work out how he wanted to the first time, but he knows now that it was all circumstances, and that he always had it in him to save her.

Begs the question would it have had more impact if Hollands shot a web and Goblin’s impact made it miss, leading this save, or would that make Holland seem less like the primary Spider-Man
@@conorbarnett6379Ooooooo, make Holland shoot the web, but show Garfield already stepping up and launching himself toward MJ, knowing that it wouldn't work... I don't know if it would have had the same impact though. Truly fearing for MJ's life or knowing that Spider Man has/had/will learn? I would expect movie makers to show this and 1000 different other things before actually releasing so they get the reaction they were hoping for. 😅 Pre-screenings. Answered my own question.
My favorite moment in the whole movie. You just know that he has replayed that moment a million times in his head since Gwen died. When it happened again, he was just... Still in that moment.
Dagnabit. This scene will forever make me cry. Every single time. Why did I watch a video where it repeated over and over. I'm gunna have friction burns under my eyes from constant rubbing.
The second it showed Andrews silently screaming NO!…I instantly lost my freaking mind y’all! But man, 😮💨 I gotta say that, even tho I was already crying at that point…the thing that really sent me over the edge and into the dreaded “Ugly Crying” territory, was a combination of both the look on his face when he asked if she was ok and then seeing the tears in his eyes when she affirmed that she really and truly was okay🥹👌 I think that one reason why I got so emotionally affected by it was that unlike most people I actually loved Andrew Garfield’s version of Spider-Man so freaking much! Even tho I “grew up” (16 yrs old when the first one came out and I watched all of Toby’s in theaters on opening night for each one as they came out…so yea, to say I’m a huge fan of those would be a massive understatement and yet I still stand by saying that I actually like Andrew’s version being my favorite Spider-man of them all 😅👍😉so…yea, seeing that redemption moment was extra impactful to me

Outside all the cheering and shouting we did in other parts, we all recognized what happened here and instead chose to be respectfully congratulatory for this moment. First available showing in my area, biggest theater for many many miles, largest room/screen, best seat in the house. Hope I don’t forget that time for a good while
Andrew's ability to portray emotion is so unmatched. The way he can express the guilt of not being able to save Gwen through his facial features alone is absolutely worthy of all the praise in the world. It gets me teary eyed every single time I watch this scene. I also love that they gave him a second chance to redeem himself, and save another version of himself from falling into the dark path that he once walked after Gwen died. I adore the dynamic of these older and wiser Spider Men being able to pass along their knowledge and experience to this newer, younger Spider Man that is still learning.

Gwens death shaped Peter into more of a hero than Uncle Bens. He vowed to never lose another person he cared for and to not let a second dictate ehat he knows is right.
