  • Let's learn about triads and how they can be used in a popular chord progression - G D Em C (1 5 6m 4). Each triad has three inversions - Root Position (R 3 5), 1st Inversion (3 5 R), and 2nd Inversion (5 R 3). We will be focusing only on the top three strings. Try this exercise I provide to my students and let me know if you have any questions!

    Always impresses me that the simple things are often the most musical and useful. Beautiful guitar, looks and sounds much more expensive. Thanks for posting

    This guy is probably annoyed seeing my name posting on here all the time. I have the entire fret board memorized doing what he says. I know my arpeggios now. I can build a minor chord. All because of these lessons. And don't think it because something seems to come easy for you that you can skip things like ear training. You can't. If you want it, this man has all the knowledge you need. Turns out he makes really good music, too. I'm very hard on myself and don't have the confidence i should. My insecurities run just a little deeper than my ego. But this channel is changing all of that. Hope he hasn't made a monster. Thanks always.

    It’s been a build up but this video was ground breaking for me regarding ear training and not having to stare at the fretboard. It takes a while, with less instant gratification than learning a song but the hidden benefits that continue to emerge from your lessons as if on a delayed timer of sorts, just keep stacking up…
    🙏🍻

    After hearing Pat Benatar's Hit Me With Your Best Shot in a TV commercial this morning, I learned in seconds that the chorus is in E major key with a I-IV-vi-V progression thanks to these recent series of free Tomo lessons.

    Brilliant - 5-10-20 minutes a day? Yes, it will come through. Warm up. Triad practice. Foundation is so important. One cannot run before walking. One cannot walk before crawling. Painful? maybe. A bit boring possibly. Essential - Yes... Be enthralled with the sound of a single note. Only 8% of the World's population can play guitar. If can make a single note ring out you are already in that group. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉

    I love your videos and a member of guitar wisdom! I am struggling on how not to memorize the shapes but am not sure if I am doing it correctly.. I’ve been memorizing the notes in major and minor chords but not sure how to not memorize triad shapes…

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you so much! Good job! Better not memorize them. Combine fretboard theory and ear training together so you will understand them deeply and can hear the difference between those 3 inversions clearly!
      No memorization! Familiarization! Super slow! Work on less area!

    I know these but I’m just in the cusp lol. I even wrote them all out again the other day. Just so I can become proficient meaning do this without thinking. Because of his lessons I started to hear the melody. I heard him say that. I go to the root bite of the next cord automatically now. Which btw are all in the same scale lol.

    I just bought this guitar AZES31 Vermilion today!!
    Because I want to try to play "Just Funky" and "Room 418".
    And also I'm planning to prepare a tube amp.
    So I’m going to set my guitar's pick ups. I refer to your tone.
    By the way, when you set guitar's pick ups, which one do you set at first?

    I honestly don't know how anyone learns theory on the guitar alone. I would be 100% clueless, had I not learned it on the piano and trumpet and French horn first. First and second inversions of any triad on the piano are just so *easy* to grasp. But on the guitar, they're seemingly *random.* They're just all over the place. I mean, I *do* see that it's the same three shapes repeated, but the order in which they appear as you travel up the neck just makes no sense to me. It's totally different for each triad, and I have no idea how you're supposed to know which is which.
    God, piano is so much easier. Anyone who thinks piano is difficult should be forced to learn the guitar. This instrument is insane.

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you for sharing! No need to worry at all! Guitar is very unique! You can learn about that if you are interested. Pay attention all octaves and duplicated notes by same pitch. That's why you don't want to follow those shapes as easy grip! Very difficult instrument to master it.

    Triads rule! Top 3, bottom 3, etc. With 3 notes you can do anything!
