Wonderful how the high pitched small chords and single notes fill the right frequencies in a very full arrangement. Also the rhythm process should be thought of as how a drummer would work snare/high hat. Good lord, I'm stunned each time you're talking about the recording setup! I just spent the last 25 years thinking there were crazy compressors, effects chains, amps... but no. It's a Line6 Pod for "Little L" and here we have a straight DI through a crappy interface! Sometimes simple things are just what works best!

Something that I've always been curious about, and that you touch briefly in the beginning, is how the writing sessions are within Jamiroquai. We've seen small clips here and there (there's a great rehearsal video before the Automaton tour that is fantastic!) but I've always wanted to know how Jay chooses the sound he's looking for because the genres of Jamiroquai's music is so rich and vast. Does he mention a certain style of music, a specific song? And then how that factors into your specific playing style. Sorry, english isn't my native language, but the process of making *stuff* (music, movies) is always fascinating to me. Thank you Rob.

One of my favourite songs by Jamiroquai - thank you for sharing this glimse into its creation and ofc the song ! Also something I've always wanted to ask you is how do you as a guitar player use funk to emote sadness - have u been able to mix funk groove and heavy melancholy , or can it not be done ? My experience is that it tends to make the song more peppy and therefore loses that vibe - is there a way around ? Lots of love Harsha
