Hi Jonathan ! What a beautiful tribute to the inspiration Ted provided you. I still miss him all the time. He was a person who you could talk about anything with; George Van Eps was the same. Inspiring Teachers and Friends. You have integrated Ted's approach so nicely and your playing has that heart and warmth that Ted valued so highly. You are doing excellent work my friend !
I got a Telecaster because of Ted. I managed to grab one on sale at Guitar Center for $699 about 2 years ago and I love it. I have been a little lazy learning his stuff but I do have 2 of his chord workout books. So many combinations. I wish I had a copy when I was in 7th grade jazz band
I bought Teds book "Chord Chemistry" when it first came out. A deep dive into an endless stream of chord options. Ted is truly a giant in the world of guitar.
Ted is what I like to call a Whale of the guitar world: many novice players don’t know him above the surface…but when advancing players dive deeper, they can discover a massive amount of information.
I wanted to stop by and say how much I admire the work you have put into your study of Ted’s work. He was a brilliant dude, and you are carrying his torch beautifully; I am trying to follow suit as time allows! Many blessings to you my friend.
Fantastic video, I can tell from hearing your arrangements that you really absorbed some of the concepts from Ted and your system is fascinating. Some beautiful arranging, Ted would be proud! Incredible work my man, this video has genuinely inspired me to pick up my copy of Chord Chemistry again
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to hear that you found the video inspiring. I'm glad you enjoyed the arrangements, and your support truly means a lot to me!
I love this! Your dedication to Ted's wonderful memory shines through this video, and your playing is so exquisite and intelligent. You're an inspiration - thanks so much! I'm heading over to the triads video now!
This is such a helpful resource! Thank you!!! Ted Greene is amazing and I too am about to embark on that journey which is how I found your channel. Your playing is beautiful.
So glad to see young people inspired by Ted Greene….. I had his chord chemistry book back in the 70s, but eventually focused on piano. Fascinating video.
This is really awesome information. I'm just starting out with cords. I see a lot of folk talk about learning the bar cords, and when they're doing the other videos, they don't use them. I like how this exercise almost seems to free you up.
Thank you so much for making this video man, you are the best. Thank you for helping us, this video is really useful for people who want to get into Ted Greene. I can’t thank you enough ❤❤
I have his one and only album and his book (which I haven't really dug into yet). He was an amazing guitar player! I saw a video on YT a couple of years ago of him playing at a wedding or some event like that and nobody was paying attention to him. I hope he at least got paid well!
Great video! I must have watched that Db section of someday my prince will come about a thousand times till learned it. Great stuff! Just a question: I spent quite some time with Chord Chemistry but stopped about halfway as many sounds were repetitive… anyone else had the same experience?
Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, I don't have "Chord Chemistry." The book I have is "Modern Chord Progressions," which covers various chord progressions with plenty of examples, lovely voice leading, and melodic lines to connect them. This is the book I like the most. There are a lot of options and chord progression examples, and sometimes they may seem repetitive. However, I believe he wanted to include as many examples as possible so that players have every possible option in most musical situations, and this might be the case with "Chord Chemistry" as well. Hopefully, this comment offers some assistance, though I acknowledge there's a chance I may be mistaken. Please don't regard it as absolute truth 😅
I learnt playing using a pick and I have respect for anyone who can fingerpick I tried to learn I just couldn't do it special the bass notes with thumb and melody with the fingers and people don't get into the acoustic side like Chet atkins blew my mind it's just amazing to sit and watch someone who is that talented on guitar it's like poetry
I could not find the link to the 8 positions of the triad inversions; would you be so kind to repost it? Cheers for your effort and beautiful music! 15 mins later: Found it 💥!
Yes, I didn't mention the other numbers because some are wrong. The numbers on the top and bottom left in the square represent the closest chord inversions on the low E string and the D string. However, I will make another video with the correct inversions 😊
he plays nine positions for that C inversion; you can come up to at least 11 for that inversion; I'm impressed how you really nailed his style (also referring to your other video ua-cam.com/video/ppz1W2Ir4Zg/v-deo.html) I've listened to Ted Green a lot over the past decade or so; cool how he's popping up everywhere; Jacob Collier also mentions him as a big inspiration
you talk slow and unengaging. its hard to learn when listening is worse than reading a textbook, which is a shame because these are good lessons and insights with great clips and playing. hoping future viewers have it in them to power through
Yes, I agree with you. I don't speak English very often since it isn't my first language, so I tend to focus more on speaking correctly. However, this can make me sound very robotic and unengaging. I will try to be more engaging in my upcoming videos. Thank you for the feedback. 😊
@johnathanhell5128 you speak better English than most native speakers. I appreciate your calm demeanor and had no problem staying engaged with your content. My first time watching your channel 😊 And that outro piece you were playing is beautiful! Is there a name for it??
@@e21steverino Thank you so much! I'm happy that you liked the video. The thing I was playing in the outro was improvised, so it's not a specific piece, but I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
@hiroprotagonitos looks like you are the one who doesn’t have it in you to power yourself, and the real shame is actually that, and definitely not the author’s approach to his own content. Thanks for finding a time to comment.

Intoxicatingly wonderful.

many thanks for these tips, they are very useful as I try to approach this type of playing/thinking on the guitar!

I learned using my fingers and have respect for anyone who can pick fast and accurately. People who can hybrid pick well especially impress me
Great video!
Thank uuu
Great vid, could u do a vid on this formula but with minor keys pls? How does it account for tritones and other notes outside the major scale?
This is great!!
Thank you Johnatan, it seems my 2024 is like your 2017 🤞
@Jonathanhell5128 I respect the amount of dedication you’ve dedicated to studying Ted Greens style. Pretty impressive man
Great vid!!!

Can you please explain what the rest of the numbers in your inversion grid system represent?
Yes, I didn't mention the other numbers because some are wrong. The numbers on the top and bottom left in the square represent the closest chord inversions on the low E string and the D string. However, I will make another video with the correct inversions 😊

Don’t be an ass, he’s posting this because he wants to not because you are owed a product. His English is great as is his playing.
