this goes back further than 2021. They started off calling them viking knives, to cash in on the viking craze around the show Vikings. Then they switched to calling them japanese knives, same knife. I think that was like 2013
A rule of thumb or red flag if you wanna say it that way... is when someone offers to sell me knife saying it always stay sharp and never dulls i know they are full of shit.
To me the red flag is 70% discount ads from small companies. You see, big stores use discounts to lure people in so they would buy something else too, sometimes they want to get rid of old stock. But these kinds of small companies don't sell anything else so even at the "discount" they still have large enough profit margin to justify advertising. So what is the production cost and how much we are paying for ads and the "brand" name? In short, if you make hefty profit from 70% discount, what's the point of the full price?
@@somedud1140 this is very true Store wide sales are fine, because like you said, it’s because they are trying to get rid of old stock But a 70% sale on the only product from a company is definitely a red flag A lot of the time, this “sale” isn’t an actual discount, but just lying Which is illegal, but I don’t think husk is worried about legal troubles I have a feeling that if something comes up, they will just disappear and reappear as another brand with the same exact product
Dont defend those youtube influencers. They actually used the knife and you can clearly see them struggle to cut through bananas, tomatoes ect, i saw the car repair guy struggle to cut through packaging plastic with it. They obviously knew at that moment that the knife is not good yet they chose to continue. The harsh reality is that their honest opinion can be bought. Cant trust them after that. And you know whats worse? They have millions of subscribers, they would survive skipping one sponsor. But they didnt, because they value money more than integrity and they know thier subscribers are fools who will accept an apology video.
I think you give these idiots too much credit. They were probably just as duped as the rest of us. I mean, i'm sure a few are like that but I can't believe all of them are the bottom of the barrel. Top that off, just because they look like grizzly adams does not mean they know what a good knife is. I know few people that do.
Huusk again? I bought four of these in 2018 or 2019 for a costume gag I was doing. They are typical $10 fantasy knives widely available from China. The only thing wrong with them is all of the lies they tell to sell them, and the dopey multiple purchase discount. I am surprised so many people fall for it. That said, I think I paid $50 for the four of them. It saved me two or three hours of labor to make what I wanted out of aluminum. I still have them around somewhere. The wife uses one of them for digging in the garden.
I was just gifted one of these along with my two brothers in law from my well meaning father. Everyone thought they were so cool but I knew right away when I saw them that they were junk. Oh well it’s the thought that matters!!!
At that point, you'd rather just have one of those cheap rainbow-iridescent mall ninja knives, y'know the ones they sell in stands with shurikens and awkward cleaver-machetes. At least those would make for a good gag item …But if a knife person saw you with a pricey Huusk, they'd just think you're gullible.
The elephant in the room is UA-cam - UA-cam is first to pull a video for the slightest offense; but apparently last to enforce any standards about scams that rip off consumers.
One thing I find odd when I first saw Huusk appear was how similar it was to the Kamikoto scam... And yet out of the few videos I've seen of each knives, it feels as if these two knives, despite being practically the same scam, never gets mentioned as being a similar examples of each other... Granted, Kamikoto came in much earlier...
Yeah, as soon as I saw this I immediately thought of Shad’s (of Shadiversity) Kamikoto tests… Note to self, unless I’m on a knife channel, ignore all influencer knife ads 😂
Have to correct a detail for you there, as it's way worse than you think. HUUSK has been around for a looooong long time. They where, if I remember correctly, one of the first massively wide spread social media knife scams. I remember the "Nordic knfe"(or some such) ads on facebook still, and that was back in 2010/11 and again in 2013 as "Viking knife" everywhere because of the Vikings show. With the same near unusable and unpractical knife shown here. 1994 was the start of the company, and 2009 they opened factories in East Asian countries, where shortly after the scamming started en masse iirc. So Kamikoto did a HUUSK if anything. Not that that's any better. Glad I saved my money for my Nesmuk and Kai knives. They'll probably outlast me.😋
Upvoting and commenting so the algorithm will pick this up. Cedric and Ada is an outstanding channel, so this huusk scammer should not be getting away with it.
was gifted one for christmas a couple of years ago. at the time it was marketed as a butcher knife, which was more believable to me because the blade shape and finger hole grip could potentially aid in skinning and breaking down some meats. I raise meat rabbits on the property and can butcher them just fine, but i can do that just as well with any of my kitchen knives, or fixed blades for that matter. i could definitely tell it was a cheap scam knife when i got it and havent even used it enough to get dull. it's sitting in a box in the shed. i've seen the same knife advertised 100 different ways since then
Huusk knives is a totally unethical company. Back around 1999 or so I made the mistake of ordering one of their blades and they tried to make me pay for their “special” package where I was to “save” a great amount money so they sent me 8 of them and tried to make me pay for them. It took about a year to get them off my back and I had to threaten them with a federal fraud case before they just gave in and gave me the knives. It was a thoroughly disgusting experience. To boot, the blades are shyte.
I Bought 2, and when i got my invoice i saw i was charged for 5 in total. Contacted them, with no response. I was forced in purchasing them. There was boxes "purchase 3 more" that you need to untic to avoid purchasing extras. Luckily it was just before Christmas and gave them away.
I made a knife out of O1 tool steel and....i couldn't even drill through the handle to attach a wooden grip, even using my milling machine with carbide drill bits. It never got dull because i hardened it so well. Consult your local knife maker or blacksmith instead of these large corporations pumping out garbage.
As someone who has worked in commercial kitchens for over 24 years, I agree that the edge's curved shape will make work more taxing as you'll increase your wrist movement. Proper kichen knife's edge should be only very slightly curved, not as much as this Huusk knife. For work my knife set are combinations of Shun and Wusthof for over a decade and they don't disappoint. By the way, this Huusk knifes are making another commercial appearance again but under new name. It's called Matsato knife. You'll see it in the usual youtube ads.
The packaging displays Japanese writing, I did a google image translation, in English it translates to "myth". That would be the only accurate statement huusk has made! 🤔
I did buy a a few of these, some package deal. I was running late on gift ideas. I'll say that they are pretty awful. I was fairly embarrassed to give them as gifts. I do know I like higher end knives, but these were far under par than my cheapest knives that I work with. So terrible, that I'll probably throw the last couple I have away. They're useless.
@ejuicevaper I got this as a gift from granny. Positive is, it is easy to sharpen. So i steaightened the edge, and we (me and my 8yo kid) are training sharpening with it.
I actually bought this awhile back. Maybe 2020? Anyways while i do enjoy using it i did notice that its sharpness gradually went after only two or three uses. Being a knife collector, most of my knives that i own don’t dull that fast.
First time I saw an ad for these knives, I laughed. Such an obvious scam to anyone who has experience with kitchen knives. One of my biggest fears is getting one for christmas or birthday present.
My Ma got me one for Christmas a year or two ago. Without even watching, I know some reasons are: Blade is too short, throwing the weight off. Handle is awkward and encourages you to ride up on it, further throwing off weight and leverage. Blade is curved quite sharply, especially towards the end, making it hard to dice efficiently on a cutting board. The weight, leverage, and curve encourage you to cut with the base, putting your whole body behind it, which is much slower than chopping with the tip of a flat-edged knife. Even if intended for meat like a cleaver is, the grip prevents you from getting the same momentum as swinging a cleaver would. The curved blade also makes it hard to slide ingredients off of a board and into another vessel. I love my Ma, but I really prefer just a standard $20 knife for chopping ingredients. It's no better for meat since a sharp knife doesn't need the body behind it, it just slices.
I got scammed into buying 3 of them for presents when advertised on one of my favorite fishing shows. They came in a nice presentation box saying they were made in China, when the ads on UA-cam said they were made in Japan. When I finally researched these knives I found the metal was pot steel. They are awkward to hold and none of my chef friends are going to use these. One of the cooks I know says they are fine to hang on a wall as an oddity and maybe the shape is good for skinning a large game animal if you keep a sharpener handy.
Appreciate the review. Nearly bought a set of 4, and would have, but when I inquired about the leather scabbard (that is pictured on the purchase page) I was informed that scabbard/sheaths for all 4 knives would nearly double the purchase price. So I thought I'd better look a bit deeper. Great information.
Thank you, I have seen the add on youtube and thought I would look into it and came across your channel. I have never found stainless to not hold a great edge ( Leatherman ) and the ads promoting the newest drone or security camera that disrupts both industries is all marketing and no truth, UA-cam should vet these ads and hold the parties accountable so as not to allow scams. Integrity before profits.
The rolling horizontal lines in the video can be avoided by changing the refresh rate (i.e. switching from 59hz to 60hz or vice versa). If that doesn’t work, turn off WDR (wide dynamic range). Great video 👍
I got stung by this scam. They had the nerve because they had my information to try to sell me more six months later. They were surprised at my response. I've noticed recently that they're selling under a new name now, and the scam continues
I have this knife. I bought it because of the amazing reviews and low price. I found the shape very awkward for kitchen use so I don’t use it. I still think it looks cool and I got it sharp with a stone. I keep it in the truck for times when I need a sturdy knife that I’m not afraid to abuse.
This video deserves much (positive) attention! I've seen the Huusk ad videos where the "chef" tells that "the sharp cutting preserves vitamins and proteins" (quoting from memory). At that point it was clear that this is a scam. Thank you for confirming this (my) judgement in a professional way.
I always love the "preserve protein" claim. All these damn fool scientists using protein-cleaving enzymes, and apparently all they need is a dull knife. ;)
Just watched this, and the outro ad was for a "Matsato" knife... that looks a whole lot like the Huusk in the video. Made from stainless steel! Traditional techniques blacksmiths used to forge samurai swords! 70% discount! Limited time sale! Yeah...
They are not a knife company, they are a marketing company. Nicely done review, well researched and presented. You earned a subscriber. If they had used decent steel it would make a pretty handy outdoors knife but it ain't a kitchen knife that's for sure.
420J2 or 3Cr13 are bargain stainless steels that are serviceable but require frequent sharpening and if you pay more than $8 for blades made of those steels you're getting ripped off.
I left a reasonably polite comment, critical (called it a scam) of the Lomi composter (sponsor on a YT channel) and got banned for a bit on YT for breaking their community guidelines! YT seems to censor anyone disrupting their bottom line (cash, baby!), so no, your advice about 'commenting' is a bit naive.
My doubts about this knife were always about food safety questions, that blade seems built to catch and hold food and bacteria, also, what is that finish and how is it going to stand up to the scrubbing that irregular surface requires, finally that wood handle is obviously not food safe, but is it acceptable for even home use?
Thank you so much for that really informative video about Huusk knives. I only questioned my near purchase (for two!) as my bank flagged up to check wether it may be a scam. Think I'll stick to UK or German-made knives like Zwilling-Henckels or Forest and Forge (Dexam) from now on..!
I own this knife but not as a Huusk. It came as the boning knife in a £30 double pair of kitchen knives I brought from amazon. Considering what I paid and the fact that I mainly bought the pair for the larger chefs knife, its really good!
I have an identical knife bought from a knife maker at a gun show in 2020. It's American made and I rarely sharpen it. I never heard of Huusk knifes until now. I sharpen all my kitchen knives with a diamond hone after use
last Christmas my younger Sister gave me the same knife You are using in this video. She also gave me the small cleaver they sell. she also got the same blades for herself and my older Brother and Sister. I felt in my heart these were trash knives. that held true for my Sisters and my Brother. my cleaver dulled in about 4 months. the knife held its edge much longer. I have had to sharpen it once so far. its not my go to knife but i do use it. i have shinned with it bones a few chickens with some success. I would never buy one but one knife has held up with little use.
I was gifted one of these some time ago. As you say, it doesn’t make much sense as a kitchen implement, but it does look cool, so I tend to use it for carving meat at the table.
Wondering how you control for pressure when you scrape the knife on the dulling block? Unless you apply a consistent measurable force that's repeatable on all tested knives the results are meaningless.
Pete from Cedric & Ada Gear & Outdoors going the hack on Huusk was one of my favourite UA-cam moments. It might have been taken down, but i remember it fondly.
I would never buy that crap. I like to cook and collect pretty decent knives. Too good to be true on the price. Thanks for the video. Calling out crap products is awesome to see
I am not a knife enthusiast, but I like good sharp kitchen knifes that stay sharp reasonably long, arent difficult to sharpen and dont rust. I have bought some expensive knifes, and some cheap ikea ones. The ikea knifes are better…
I just received a matsato knife for Christmas and the knife as well as its packaging and the website are identical to huusk, which led me down this rabbit hole, time to have some fun.
I just buy my kitchen knives at the local restaurant supply store. Reasonably priced commercial knives designed to be used in a restaurant 12 hours a day work just fine for the 3 or 4 times a week I cook.
I got this knife at a bargain bin store (Amazon returns) on 6 dollar day because it looked cool. I definitely overpaid. It's not ergonomic at all. 440 steel has its place, but in 2023, we have hundreds of better knife steels. The finger hole location makes it awkward to use. I put it in the center console of my boat and use it as a bait cutter.
Fell for this 4 or 5 months ago having drank a considerable amount of brandy and spotted the offer whilst scrolling through web news and other such trifles. The knife arrived and . . . yeah. Straight out of the box I had my doubts about craftsmanship and quality. Found this vid because I was searching the means to sharpen the knife. Says a lot.
As Pete pointed out in his latest video, 420J2 has been used as a CLADDING steel for a very long time because of its toughness and rust resistance in San Mai style knives where the actual steel that forms the cutting edge is sandwiched in between 2 layers of it. Its not 1810 which is in fact a pot and pan stainless. 1810 heavy walled with a well attached encapsulated bottom on a pot or pan makes great everyday long use cookware, I have some that's over 30 years old . But its not knife steel. Its not even VG1 let alone Vg10. HUUSK is an IG rapid sale boot scraper knife brand sold to uninformed consumers. They sell the sizzle not the steak, and as we all know its Halloween season, but not even Michael Myers would be caught dead using it😂
So these knives are basically like the Kamikoto Knives from previous years that also touted being done with Japanese Artisan Craftsmanship and were also using low quality steel. 😅
My dad fell for this a few years ago, and bought one each for my brother and me as a present. Ergonomics is s**t, the steel is s**t. These are even worse than the Rambo survival knives of the eighties (Be ware of cheap copies). I left a one star review on Trust pilot, which was taken down after a short while because I couldn't produce a receipt. That could be seen as fair in and of it self, but there's no way to justify removing negative reviews from customers who could produce a receipt (of which there must be thousands). Quoting Crocodile Dundee might be in place here: "That's not a knife."
Good review. Two notes: If you try to gauge the quality of any consumer good, it's best to order multiples. This will reduce the chance that you review an item that slipped quality control, and you'll have a better idea if the quality is like this in general. The other point is that it shouldn't really matter where the company / producer of the knife is from. When they say it's "Japanese inspired" it's not necessary that they are from Japan or based in Japan. I felt like this point distracted from the very solid evidence that these knives are just average.
I actually have one of these knives from way earlier, like before 2020. used to be a typical placement on tv shopping and a family friend got sucked into buying like 12 for a discount and gave one to anyone who would have it. been one of my preferred knives for a good while but that said its pretty easy to beat old splintery steak knives and dollar store paring knives
Same as Coolina now- ads popping up everywhere. When a brand advertises knives as "Big, badass kitchen knives for men" and does not provide any info about the steel used, then you know what's up......
I had a few too many beers one evening and bought a few of these knives. The website was sketchy and I ended up buying a bunch instead of a few. I made the purchase then was given options to add more knives and sheathes at a discounted rate. However, when you click the option to just look at it, it automatically bills you and ships it to you since they already have your cc information. So I ended up with 12 of these amazing knives. I called to see about a refund upon return and a woman answered the phone. It certainly wasn’t an office setting as there were chickens clucking in the background. I did not get my refund. In the end, it’s a nice POS knife, never to be used in a kitchen.
This is a company I would never do business with again. I impulse went to their web site and thought I was ordering one knife. When I got to the order confirmation, it said four knifes. I immediately contacted them about the mistake and was told that my order could not be changed because it had already been sent to fulfillment and they would not allow me to return the three knifes. I wish I had seen this video before hand. I would never had felt with them at all.
Great review. I bought a few a couple of years ago, utter junk! Although mine did have Oakwood handles but they were so rough, you practically got splinters when you used them. 🙏🙏
You had me moving away when you mentioned influencers. If these promote it's normally for the money not because they believe in the product. Thanks for the review. I'll check out your other reviews to see what you think is best.
two things we can learn from the whole huusk thing: - it makes it very obvious which youtubers are sellouts and are to avoid in the future, their greed basically made them shoot their own leg. - never trust "reviews" on the seller's website EVER! and thanks for mentioning the unimportance of the factory grind, so many people still think that the initial sharpness is somehow a sign of quality steel.
I knew it was rubbish and still bought a nockoff on the cheap anyway. It comes without the fingerholes and I use it for cutting cord on the block without fraying. The curve actually helps there.
My first thought is that it's just an idiot tax so it's all good and fair, but then I realized that this effects the market as a whole. As long as the majority of people buy garbage products, the market will be flooded with them. Life is too short to have to spend hours to research product after product until you finally stumble on something worth while... or you run out time and patience and just buy something you know is crap to just get the job done.
Wait, people thought Huusk were anything other than cheap knives 😂😂😂 I have one, it’s a novelty, honestly I’m surprised that it was such a celebrity brand
I bought this knife knowing full well it was a stupid knife before I did. I wanted something ridiculous for LARP weekends and just something fun and fantasy that would still function mostly as a kitchen knife. The big 'discount' helped. When I need to do proper meal prep, I stick to my santoku knife.
I inquired about these knives for the Bogo deal. They have going on about three days ago and literally have receipts that I have 42 emails sent to me telling me not to forget the knives in the cart! This is so disgusting and bugging that they lost a sale! I’ll never support such a greedy company and its botherations!!! THEY ARE BLOCKED & I UNSUBSCRIBED! I don’t care how good their product is, although I am hearing about how their product isn’t good and it’s just a charade!
I’m sure husk knives will soon disappear, unfortunately the people behind this product won’t. These unscrupulous people will turn their efforts to something else that’s equally cheap to manufacture and just as low in quality, it could be anything. They’ll have a new name and a completely different company. Their marketing skills are undeniably excellent, it’s just a pity they don’t put their skills into something worthwhile.
Honestly I've never heard of this brand or seen people hawking them but I have seen what looks to be the same knife on a couple of the cheapie sites where they tend to charge 5-10 dollars but wouldn't ever give more than 2 Bucks for such a monstrosity.
Mine laster about 2 years of lite kitchen duty... Then in the past month the edge... took a dump. I guess I made it thur the edge steel during sharpening and now its filled with chips.. from sharpening
Coolina knives. I get that ad in every other video I watch or the Baerskin hoodie. I just use some vintage USA /Japan knives from the 60's/ 70's that I got used for nearly nothing. Hexclad The best pans you'll ever have? "You'll not get a bett'r sear" Well, shoot. That's another rabbit hole.
Thank you besides Pete you’re the first one I’ve seen talk real about these god awful knives. Pot steel dammit it’s made of pot steel. It’ll disperse heat well probably but it won’t hold an edge
Thanks for your video. I saw this knife and had some of the same thoughts you mentioned: not designed as a kitchen knife, too much of the 'oooh, aaaah' factor (the common person would think this is the knife to have). I have seen knives ten times better than this which were rejected due to poor workmanship, wrong grade of steel, and oh, if the 'common person' does not know how to properly sharpen a knife, it'll end up being replaced. Huusk knives can keep their copyright, patent, whatever...they can keep their knives too. Thanks again....
its crazy how I always search for info on products I see on you tube and the videos that seems to show the products worst side seems to come in my feed after I have made the purchase upon youtube influencers claims. I bought a Santako 5" , Utility 5" and pairing knife 3.5" and so far they do pretty well to my liking and I came across no negative vids. The utility 5" is my go to for everything, but cutting thru the cabbage core gave resistance and cause flexing. The other knife GOOD COOK CHEF, Is just trash basically after 30days. And I had the Santako over a year a its still sharp. There're just small. But thanks for your vid, a return is in effect. People have no integrity. i surely hope they don't believe in Heaven or Hell being that liars are sent to Hell. if I'm correct
Ever since I bought a Huusk knife, I've been bombarded by spam emails from them. Over the top amounts. Also, as soon as I took the knife out of the box I noticed how unbalanced and clumsy it felt. The hole in the blade even seems a little dangerous to me - sharp edged and a potential finger breaker if one was to slip. Never use it anymore and never will.
I’ve never heard of this brand before this weekend, I was at buddies house and saw it. Looked rad, mentioned it and he asked if I could sharpen it for him, I enjoy making knives sharp. This thing can’t hold an edge worth a shit. When it would start to shape up, the edge would just start popping off chunks, super frustrating which led to the interwebz to see wtf I was working with. Well now I now.
Ahhh 😌 I have seen hundreds of knife videos and I came to conclusion I just use one SAK for EDC,regular Mora Companion Carbon for outdoor,in the kitchen I use whatever is there, I have heard a lot of bad reviews on that knife, and people are All about Japanese knives..Why??? If you suck at cooking 🧑🍳 no knife will help you, what’s wrong with Old Hickory Ontario Knife Co. Made in USA 🇺🇸??? But it’s your money and I have no say in this…
To make matters worse, people that don't know about knives are hard on them in the kitchen which is the last thing an actual Japanese knife needs since they tend to chip instead of roll over.
In Slovakia there are the same knives but they are marketed as DACOBI knives :D They are exact same ones. I watched one youtuber (but i cant find that vid anymore) and he showed company which creates them and this company offer this knives at price around 10-15€ (for the damasucss also) plus they offer custom logo or name on the knife. So basicaly huusk or dacobi knives are just mass produced chinesee knives custom engraved
It's a knife shape that is used for butchery, wusthof have been making something similar for years. Wusthof keep changing the name, I assume for marketing reasons, currently it is called: "Craftsman with Hollow Edge 18 cm"
I saw this "knife" for 80% sale, I figured I'd buy it, but it felt like a scam. I looked a lot on the website first, and saw the photos were edited. They literally photoshopped their knife into the chefs hands. That's when I started looking for reviews, of people who knew what they were doing, not just laymen who think it's ok because it was cheap, and all proper reviews said the same thing "scam, from start to finish, made from pot steel, and the knife has nothing to do with anything japanese, they tried to sell it earlier as a viking knife, so it's a scam."
They've changed the name... again. Now they're calling it Matsato... same knife. They are making the preposterous claim that it is hand made by Samurai swordmasters.
this goes back further than 2021. They started off calling them viking knives, to cash in on the viking craze around the show Vikings. Then they switched to calling them japanese knives, same knife. I think that was like 2013
That explains the name
As long as people fall for this shit it will continue
Now that made a whole lotta sense!
Thats genius
They have popped up again as northern knives...
A rule of thumb or red flag if you wanna say it that way... is when someone offers to sell me knife saying it always stay sharp and never dulls i know they are full of shit.
Diamond Blade stay sharp longer 🤷♂️
To me the red flag is 70% discount ads from small companies. You see, big stores use discounts to lure people in so they would buy something else too, sometimes they want to get rid of old stock. But these kinds of small companies don't sell anything else so even at the "discount" they still have large enough profit margin to justify advertising. So what is the production cost and how much we are paying for ads and the "brand" name?
In short, if you make hefty profit from 70% discount, what's the point of the full price?
It's so obvious too. Like yeah, they're selling you a dream. Take that at face value. You're being sold a dream.
Hahaha !
Yep !
@@somedud1140 this is very true
Store wide sales are fine, because like you said, it’s because they are trying to get rid of old stock
But a 70% sale on the only product from a company is definitely a red flag
A lot of the time, this “sale” isn’t an actual discount, but just lying
Which is illegal, but I don’t think husk is worried about legal troubles
I have a feeling that if something comes up, they will just disappear and reappear as another brand with the same exact product

Thanks for the helpful comments. I would have nearly bought the knife. Thanks again!!
was gifted one for christmas a couple of years ago. at the time it was marketed as a butcher knife, which was more believable to me because the blade shape and finger hole grip could potentially aid in skinning and breaking down some meats. I raise meat rabbits on the property and can butcher them just fine, but i can do that just as well with any of my kitchen knives, or fixed blades for that matter. i could definitely tell it was a cheap scam knife when i got it and havent even used it enough to get dull. it's sitting in a box in the shed. i've seen the same knife advertised 100 different ways since then
I got one, too, too. Only used it a couple of times. Like yours, it's back in the box. I think we both got suckered.
Yay, Pete. He doesn't lie for views. UA-cam isn't how he pays his bills. UA-cam is just how he pays for buying knives lol
they're back and calling themself "matsato"
Huusk knives is a totally unethical company. Back around 1999 or so I made the mistake of ordering one of their blades and they tried to make me pay for their “special” package where I was to “save” a great amount money so they sent me 8 of them and tried to make me pay for them. It took about a year to get them off my back and I had to threaten them with a federal fraud case before they just gave in and gave me the knives. It was a thoroughly disgusting experience. To boot, the blades are shyte.
I had a a similar experience ! It seem common for them to make a single order a multiple order and charge accordingly - with no way to cancel !!
Really, why would anyone want to counterfeit that pile of crap?🤷♂️🤣🤣
That's not what's important. Getting the video taken down is what's important
First time I saw an ad for these knives, I laughed. Such an obvious scam to anyone who has experience with kitchen knives. One of my biggest fears is getting one for christmas or birthday present.
My Ma got me one for Christmas a year or two ago. Without even watching, I know some reasons are:
Blade is too short, throwing the weight off.
You can't sharpen this kind of Steel😂
Thanks for the video. I will keep my Old Hickory, 1075 carbon steel knife.
All these damn fool scientists using protein-cleaving enzymes, and apparently all they need is a dull knife. ;)
it would actually, but to such a negligible amount that its disingenuous to even mention it, technically not false
Thank you, I was a bit intrigued by these but ended up going with known makers and steel.
Kind of, the japanese have similar thing going on with the weird black part design. Guessing its a tradition to kill off unsanitary chefs lol
Rule of Thumb: everything UA-camrs advertise for is cheap trash, if it isn't it's some sort of scam.
Is a "double pair" four knives?
Yeah, me too. Just hard working tools with no frills.
They sell the sizzle not the steak, and as we all know its Halloween season, but not even Michael Myers would be caught dead using it😂
I love vg10 my fav kitchen steel
I have an old Spyderco VG10 Delica, full SpyderEdge. Almost daily use. Excellent knife
Thank You. I was about to Buy it.
So these knives are basically like the Kamikoto Knives from previous years that also touted being done with Japanese Artisan Craftsmanship and were also using low quality steel. 😅
I know I will never buy one. I trust Pete and they are using terrible tactics. Not interested.
Great Video and fair review. So many maufacturers are straight up lying about their knives. It's dissapointing and misleading to say the least.
Glad I watched this, was going to buy one of these for my brother as a crimbo prezzy.
Think I'll give it a swerve now.
Cheers!
I'll check out your other reviews to see what you think is best.
two things we can learn from the whole huusk thing:
- it makes it very obvious which youtubers are sellouts and are to avoid in the future, their greed basically made them shoot their own leg.
Whats the difference between Huusk Knifes and Matsato knifes?????
Wait, people thought Huusk were anything other than cheap knives 😂😂😂
I have one, it’s a novelty, honestly I’m surprised that it was such a celebrity brand
You wave that knife around like a drunken samurai.
Lmfao I see the two badly doodled Chinese characters and I know this will be gud.
I've never seen any traditional Japanese knives that looks even close to that design.
Good review. I hope Huusk doesn’t make you disappear.
The longer and Flashier an Advertisement is, the more likely its a scam!
I guess I made it thur the edge steel during sharpening and now its filled with chips.. from sharpening
the 420J2 version (actually a steel) is hard to find. most Huusk knives come in 18/10 pot metal. horrible.
I remember looking them up about 2 years ago. Luckily I saw a review that said they were crap. It is a cool looking knife though.
Nice to see a fellow believer in 'god'.
Thanks for your video. I saw this knife and had some of the same thoughts you mentioned: not designed as a kitchen knife,
too much of the 'oooh, aaaah' factor (the common person would think this is the knife to have). I have seen knives ten times
better than this which were rejected due to poor workmanship, wrong grade of steel, and oh, if the 'common person' does not
know how to properly sharpen a knife, it'll end up being replaced.
I like the shape/design of the knife. That's about it.
"There're" is the correct contraction to use in your title as you refer to issues, which is plural!!
It looks like the knives I bought from Daiso in Tokyo.
Daiso is a 100 Yen store, like a Dollar Store or a Pound Shop.
It's a knife shape that is used for butchery, wusthof have been making something similar for years. Wusthof keep changing the name, I assume for marketing reasons, currently it is called: "Craftsman with Hollow Edge 18 cm"
Also, ironically, just got an ad for this exact knife under a different brand 😂😂😂
It looks like a fighting knife that they decided to market as a kitchen knife.
The reason I say that is because of the finger hole.
Thanks for the true valuation ... just saved me a few quid I'll buy a propper knife . Just subscribed .
