    Nice job, again! Your "If I could only have one" videos are great. I look forward to seeing additional ones in the future. Keep 'em coming!
    I'm not surprised in the outcome here, as your having an issue (as do others, myself included) with the large, curved articulated trigger on the M&P M2.0. Personally, I wish S&W either did the trigger more like the Shield's lesser curve or did away with it period. But, the new M2.0 trigger has improved dramatically and is equal to the Glock's in terms of the break. I agree with you that there's more take up on the M&P and that the reset isn't bad, but not as good as the Glock. I agree that the trigger win goes to the Glock, due to the shorter take up and more finite reset.
    However, the M&P trigger isn't too shabby. I found myself adapting to it more over time. The more you shoot it, the more the trigger smooths out (as you indicated), and better you get accustomed to it. I also have the same issue with finger placement on the trigger, as I also have big hands/long fingers, which can make things a bit more challenging. I wish the trigger broke a bit more forward, but an Apex trigger can address that issue.
    I own both the M&P M2.0 and a G17 Gen4. I like shooting both, but I prefer the M&P's ergos and grip angle, plus its grip texture over the Glock. The only thing I'd change is the sights to either the TFX Pros (which are excellent.....I have on my CZ75) or the Trijicon HD's and the trigger to an Apex. I can afford to do those upgrades, because of the awesome $75 summer rebate on the M&P M2.0. My net price on it after the rebate came to only $344! That's well under the Glock 17 Gen5 that's been selling for about $559 from what I've seen. The savings easily covers the cost of the Apex trigger and a third magazine. The sights are a wash, as they'd both would be upgraded.
    So, with all that being said, my personal "If I can only have one" choice is the M&P M2.0 with the awesome Apex trigger over the Glock 17 Gen5. Both are great choices, but to each his/her own. We're lucky to have such many great guns to choose from. Just another thing that makes America great!
    Hey, I have one suggestion you might consider adding to the review. Perhaps you can get a Lyman trigger scale to compare trigger pulls. That would be another nice datapoint to have for the "If I could only have one" comparisons. As you always say.....cheers, brother! Keep up the great work!

      Thank you very much for the great thoughts and suggestions Milehigh! You make some great points about the triggers and I 100% agree with what you said. I think the Smith would be well served to have a flatter trigger that doesn’t pull all the way to the rear. If the break was more forward, it would be spot on. Glocks, while a bit clunky, do deliver a predictable break and reset. I understand why you would choose the M&P and I think many agree with you. The Compact has really impressed me and my thoughts betweeen that and the G19 may be a bit different, you never know, lol. As for the gauge, I have one and have used it on film but people seem to be very picky on how it’s used and it takes more time than I want to use. The vids are already a bit long-winded, lol. Thank you as always and cheers brother!

      KSGunGuy I agree with you on the M2.0 Compact. Very impressive. I picked one up during the summer rebate, as well. It will go with my G19 Gen4 in my rotation. Both guns are reliable, good performers with decent triggers. Both triggers are slightly better than average (IMHO), but I don't like that vibration from the linkage on the Glock triggers. It's apparent when dry firing, not so much when your hot. Not a big deal, but it's noticeable for me. Every gun has its own features and quirks. We just learn to adapt to each one best we can, or make improvements on them along the way. I think the Glock grip angle thing is blown out of proportion, really.
      Some say (like yourself and Honest Outlaw) that you prefer the M2.0 Compact version over the Full Size. That's interesting seeing both of you guys have bigger hands. I own them both and dry fire them quite a bit. I found the triggers to be very similar with a bit more smoothness to the Compact's trigger. They seem to break and reset the same, as far as I can tell. I like the flexibility of the Compact with the use of the 2 provided mag sleeves that provide a full size grip and capacity. A nice plus.
      I'm really not an M&P fanboy. I just appreciate a quality firearm. I really think that the new M2.0s represent the best value on the market. Excellent build, reliability, quality workmanship, great performance along with a great price = an outstanding VALUE. All that weighed into my decision.
      Thanks for your response. I appreciate it, as I try to put a good amount of thought/feedback in my comments. You reply more to comments posted on your videos than any other gun channel. I think that's great! I wish more would follow the same. I also see your comments often on other gun channel videos. Kudos to you for that too! I think it makes for a better experience. I learn a lot from others experiences and comments. Thanks!

      It’s funny you mention the vibration or “springiness” in the Glock triggers. I dry fire the Gen 5s quite a bit and it’s very noticeable. At first, I though something was broken but it turns out to be the trigger return spring and firing pin spring. Either way, it’s a bit annoying, lol. Yeah, I seem to consistently gravitate towards compact guns over full size even though I have long fingers. I agree, the flexibility if being able to use full size mags makes compact guns all the better. I agree with you, out of the box Smiths are great value! Milehigh, I am humbled everyday by great thoughts from good people like you. I have learned more over the past 10 months with the channel than I have in many years of shooting. It’s a great community and I truly enjoy getting to know you guys. Thank you again for everything brother!

      The biggest thing I noticed most reviewers haven't paid attention to is that actual cost of the gun rather than MSRP. I recently got a 5" FDE M&P 2.0 for $430 and I just got the M2.0 compact for $460 shipped with a 3rd magazine and night sights included (both of those deals are still available as far as I know as of writing this). Add in an apex trigger shoe for $37 and I am still coming out way ahead of Glock. The value comparison isn't close in my opinion. Glocks are fine pistols and I own 2 myself (G19 and G22), but if I could only choose one, it would also be the M&P 2.0.

    • @milehighed52801

      CaribbeanMedStudent I totally agree with you on all your points. I wish I found that deal you got on the M2.0 Compact with 3 mags and night sights. Those are usually reserved for LE sales only, from what I've seen. Congrats on a nice find! I paid $430 for my M2.0 Compact. I also have a M2.0 5" in FDE, which I paid the same price you did. I got all of mine at Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore. They run some pretty good deals. I'd like to put Apex trigger shoes on each of them, but perhaps the whole trigger assembly on one, just to check it out.

    Value is not a wash. Street pricing of the M&P is $100 - $150 less. I could not find the Glock for less than $530; I paid $379 for the M&P.

      @Ethan Mac I live in Ukraine. like in Russia, we have pistols for sports only, with the exception of certain categories of citizens. But any non-automatic long-barreled weapon up to a caliber of 50 bmg is allowed. The prices for legal weapons and ammunition are 2-3 times higher than in the United States. It's just greedy merchants that's all. All are imported from abroad and sold at high margins. And pistols are banned in many countries.

    • @shrajjk
      @shrajjk 4 роки тому

      @Ethan Mac Of these two, I would choose SmithWesson 9mm. We have a small selection in our country and I would choose between s & w mp2.0 / beretta apx / grandpower k (q) 100 from budget (for Ukraine it is $ 1000-1300). Still maybe stеyr m9. For me there is not much difference between them. The answer to the question "which of the best polymer guns" can be the one who owned all of them. But this is individual, as each has its own anatomy of the hand. 9mm caliber because it is more common, balanced and relatively inexpensive cartridges

    • @pacman1789
      @pacman1789 2 роки тому

      Not anymore. In some cases the M&P can actually be more expensive than the Glock. Generally the cheapest you can find it is $50 less than the Glock or at the same price.

    I've owned several Glocks, mostly Gen3s and 1 Gen4, in 9mm, 10mm, and 45 ACP. I've fired 10s of thousands of rounds through my Glocks. The only one to give me any reliability issues whatsoever was my 10mm Glock 20SF Gen3. That said, I've always been compelled to upgrade my Glocks - triggers, sights, stipple jobs, as the stock Glock (for me) always crys out to be improved.
    I've owned just one S&W thus far, the M&P M2.0 9mm Compact. I love it. Right out of the box it surpassed all of my Glock 9mm pistols (IMHO). It came with excellant low profile steal 3-dot combat contrast sights, with a shelf for one-handed slide actioning on my belt, etc. Fantastic grip stippling. While I don't love the trigger, it is superior to all of my stock Glock triggers. Great accuracy, and thus far flawless reliability, after about 2,000 rounds.
    I paid $399 for my new M&P. That's a lot less than I paid for any of my (new) Glocks over the years. For a pistol which to me is superior... more pistol, for a lot less money.
    I have replaced the stock contrast sights on my M&P with night sights, from AmeriGlo. They set me back $120, but that's still just $519 for a fantastic EDC CCW pistol, which for my money far surpasses my Gen4 Glock 19 (for which I paid $525 before upgrading anything on it). A trigger upgrade and steal night sights later and my Gen4 Glock 19 cost me almost $800.
    To each his own. For me, it's the M&P M2.0 all the way over Glock.
    Also, the M&P is made in America, by an American company. That's a very good thing indeed.

    I have both of these pistols and enjoy shooting both. My accuracy is about the same with both, but a slight edge to the S & W. I have carried the S & W as my EDC at times very comfortably, but not the Glock. The S&W being just a little lighter and smaller makes me chose the S&W over the Glock if I had to choose one or the other. Thankfully, I don’t have to choose since I have both and enjoy both equally. Great video and I can completely understand your choice even if it is different than mine. Keep up the good work! Thanks!

      KSGunGuy WWB stuff is crap, plus I find it to leave a lot of residue. If you want to shoot cheap ammo that's good quality, I highly recommend trying LAX Ammo's new or reloaded ammo. I've had great results with all their stuff (9mm/45ACP/.223). Good accuracy and goes bang without any failures with thousands shots downrange. Low smoke and residue too. See if they'll send you some free to evaluate on your channel. They sent some to Honest Outlaw, but he prefers a less hot round as he does a lot of speed shooting. He prefers Freedom Munitions stuff as it's not as hot as LAX's stuff. Who knows, maybe they'll sponsor you!

    I have tested both the M&P9 2.0 and the Glock 17 Gen4. I feel they have comparitivly good triggers, the M&P has better ergonomics, the grip texture is abrasive, too much so, but it has a natural point of aim. I like Glocks tactile reset, it points a bit differently, and when the casings come out of the ejection port it is erratic. One hit me on the forehead. I really enjoy your videos. Looked at both guns today and as a left -handed shooter it's the G17 for me. The ambi-slide release was a great addition to the Gen 5 and combined with the swapable/reversible mag release make it a no-brainer choice for me. Disappointed that S&W doesn't offer left handed friendly features in this firearm.

The fit of the S&W to my hand is just much better and the gun just has a better overall feel. Maybe the Glock trigger is better but I prefer the S&W sights. Both are dead reliable and spit out everything I put through them. Can't go wrong with either gun though.

I’m knocking on the “audible” part, though. If you are wearing hearing protection, you can’t hear the reset, and if you are not, you won’t be able to hear anything much at all after the first shot. I have come across quite heavily both personally and research wise when it comes to the reliability, shootability and pros/cons of the Glock and M&P and have highly considered both among other 9mm's for my next handgun. This video just proved to me that the M&P is the better choice overall because it is highly apparent that Glock's immense and biased fanbase tends to keep even the most obvious points in the dark.
    I respect this well informed video but I just always feel like these comparisons are a waste of my time because if it is done by a Glock fan, Glock will always turn out on top even if it has several faults over the M&P. First of all, straight off the bat, the M&P is a better shooter, has a better sight picture and Metal sights. It was remarked in this video when it came to Value that it doesn't give M&P an edge either was a Straight up Lie, because on Gunbroker the M&P 2.0 is listed for $429 and the Glock 17 Gen 5 is listed for $569. Clearly a BIG difference in price and I have NEVER seen the M&P for $600.
    While This man gives some credit to the Smith, he finds so many dissatisfactions with the New Glock such as the plastic sight picture (still) and the mag cut out, meanwhile the M&P has it beat in those aspects including others (Sights, Grip, Accuracy) because reading ths comments below, someone mentioned that his groups were much better with the M&P and his comment remained biased for the Glock stating he found it weird he shot better with the M&P that day. I feel like this is an epidemic of Glock fans as of late then they never know when to take an L even when it comes to an obvious Glock flaw. Whether its the limp wristing hang ups or comparing it to a better gun, it is NOT the best handgun. That fellow below also commented that because the M&P had a Hang up on this video, he is now classifying the M&P as a range toy. It's so funny the Glock fanboys are So quick to criticize other brands but will straight up overlook any Glock flaws. When Hickok45 did a video on the Glock 19 Gen 4, he had a malfunction on the 10 minute mark and made NOTHING of it. Your precious GLOCK that you rant and rave about as if it were God's holy weapon itself had a Malfunction and it was brushed off quicker than dandruff on a shoulder. The gun had a Failure to Eject, he was NOT limp wristing but he Quickly blamed the ammo. ????
    Any other gun would have had mile long comments of criticism about reliability along with "this is why I have a Glock, and Glock this and Glock that" and this is exactly why there are so many people who dislike Glock merely based on the fact that they have a obsessed and blind fanbase that think it's impossible for a Glock to fail and it is the best gun ever made. NEWS flash, Glock has been already outdone by so many brands for a while now.
    They were at some point in time an innovative piece of technology, just like any brand for anything. The only reason it's still on top is because of the blind fanboys that keep it alive. And believe me, for Good reason. It is a reliable weapon, but it is far from perfect. The M&P is on par in reliability with Glock as well as many other brands. STOP making up this imaginary claim that it is a fail proof gun. ALL guns can fail. The argument of it being the standard police issue and battle proven by military around the world is an Old story already. MANY brands have been battle proven. Smith and Wesson have been gun slinged in the wild west before we had the damn telephone so don't talk to me about LASTING reliability. BOTH the M&P AND Glock have been rejected from the US Army contract for the next firearm. Both for the same reasons, the guns were not capable of modularity, granted the M&P was even Below that of the Glock in modularity which is why the Glock lasted longer in the trials but was ultimately bested by Sig Sauer's P320 for it's extreme modularity and better wholesale price tag which was 100 million below Glock's proposal.
    Don't get me wrong. The Glock is NOT a bad weapon, Far from it. It's a Great piece. But it is Not the best nor is it perfect. For so many Glock fans to be saying it's perfect out the box is another damn lie when a Glock purchase never stays stock longer than a month before the trigger, grip, guide rod, sights are switched out. Even this guy on this video said that the sights suck but it was Ok "because for a couple dollars more you can get metal sights" LOL couple dollars more? You mean the Glock 17 Gen 5 Ameriglo version? It's freakin $669 dollars! An ADDITIONAL 100 bucks. Meanwhile you get it ALL with the M&P for $429. If that doesn't prove that the Glock has twisted the fanboys into denial, I don't know what does. Do yourself a favor and your damn country a damn favor. Buy American. Appreciate the fact that the U.S. has made an amazing quality fire arm and support it.
    You won't be the only one.

    Not a Glock fan, after having a bad experience with one. I however do like Glock's in general. But I have found them not to be as reliable as their reputation. Add in you usually have to have a trigger upgrade, as well as sights, I find them expensive for what they are. Still the Gen 5 is a huge improvement over the 4 (I always hated the finger groves). Having tried the M&P 2.0, I have to agree with your review, but when you consider price to make the Glock a viable duty gun, I feel the M&P probably has a slight edge. Plus, the M&P 2.0 has one serious flaw. If the trigger return spring breaks, it does not allow the shooter to manually forward reset the trigger and at least have a one shot capability firearm. This can be a big difference for a duty handgun. The older 1.0 M&P's could be outfitted with a kit from Apex to allow manual forward reset, but Apex does not have one for the 2.0 as of this time. • @MatteoSixSeventyFour
    @MatteoSixSeventyFour 6 років тому +2

    If I could only have one? I'd choose neither. However in keeping with your theme. If pressed. I'd choose the M&P 2.0. And not because of any aversion to Glock. But for actual some reasons. 1) The M&P is still built as a 40 and then rechambered for 9mm. Versus a being a 9mm that has been adapted (sometimes haphazardly) for 40. So the frame is made for a round generating more recoil and thrust. So if I wanted to run 9mm +P+ . It would handle it like a champ. And extended or prolonged +P use would be of little consequence. 2) I prefer the ergos, ie grip feel and angle over the Glock. And I get interchangeable backstraps. 3) Steel sights vs plastic. And even if you factor in upgrading the trigger. To say and Apex I call it a wash in extra cost when you compare the cost of new sights for the Glock. So M&P for me.
    Great video as always KS!

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  6 років тому +1

      Excellent points Matteo! I’ve never thought about it from a 40 standpoint but that makes sense. Does the Glock not handle 40 as well? I ask only because I have little experience on the 40 front (as you know). I agree about the cost difference, especially with sights and 4 good back straps. As for the trigger, I still prefer Glock but that’s only due to time behind them. Thank you as always and cheers brother!

    • @MatteoSixSeventyFour
      @MatteoSixSeventyFour 6 років тому +1

      KSGunGuy Well whatever your opinion is on the 40. Most will have to admit guns that are truly made for the 40 tend to be fantastic 9mm's when chambered as such. Just look at the Steyr as but 1 example. And yes the Glock historically does not tend to do as well. The frame is just not made for it. Glock even went as far as adding another pin to spread the force out and help lessen frame stress. Even when upgrading the recoil spring the overall lifespan is shorter. In the end its just a bit too much stress. Now if you upgrade the recoil spring the Glock will have a very decent service life. But you'll still be watching for signs of stress. On some level. Whereas a gun designed for more recoil and thrust? You shoot it and don't worry.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  6 років тому

      OK that makes sense and explains the 3rd pin! Seems like they are taking a step backwards removing a pin in the Gen 5.

    • @MatteoSixSeventyFour
      @MatteoSixSeventyFour 6 років тому +1

      KSGunGuy I would venture they did it on the assumption that any 40 chambered guns would be few and far between. And those that were bought would probably see very few rounds. In other words they bet on the numbers. 40 is the redheaded stepchild within the gun community. And even more so in the tactical community. Plus a study came out that was a bit of a no brainer stating those who owned guns chambered in cheaper cost ammo. Tend to train and shoot more. Go figure, right? LoL
      But to each their own. I happen to like the 40 a lot. And unless it somehow disappears in the way the 41 AE did. I'll continue to carry and use it.

      I’m sure you’re right about the numbers and I imagine cost to manufacturers can impact it as well. I agree, there is less focus in the industry on 40 but it is the round of choice for competition so it’s definitely got some life left in it. I imagine the 40 won’t go anywhere and there are a lot of firearms chambered in that caliber out there. Good to see that the cost has come down on it too.

    my glock 17 gen 5 has front serrations that’s what glock did to all there gen 5’s, i don’t understand why yours don’t have them, and i don’t have the cut out in the front of my grip

      I believe the early versions of gen 5 17 and 19 didn't have foward slide serrations. Also they did away with the notch on the front of the grip on newer gen 5

    Great job, once again, KS! I do have the M&P 2.0 compact and love it. Have plenty of Glocks and love them too but haven't added a Gen 5 to the collection as of now. I agree with you and thought that Glock could have done more with the Gen 5 such as the front serrations, better sights out of box etc. but the one thing that bothers the hell out of me and maybe they will fix it going forward is the front of the Frame not being bullnosed like the slide. To me, thats just not paying attention to detail and unacceptable for a 500 dollar plus gun. I also wish they would fix the undercut on the trigger guard as well. Shooting 9mm not such a problem but with the 40 and 45 calibers it does get uncomfortable after a while.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  6 років тому

      Thank you and great points John! I agree, the frame not matching up to the slide is odd at best. It doesn’t affect the performance but it does show a lack of detail. Yes, I hope the refine them going forward especially since other manufacturers are paying more attention to feedback and details. We shall see. Cheers brother!

    I have owned and shot both...the M&P remained....it’s very accurate, soft shooting 9mm, better ergos than the Glock and the trigger is much improved over the original M&P. The M&P is a better pistol than the Glock

    OK this is my opinion I had the Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 17 which actually cost me $435 at the time on BudsGuns.com with zero shipping fees and zero state tax. I actually found that I shot way more accurate with that gun then my brand new Glock 17 Gen 5. I did notice that the Smith & Wesson 2.0 contoured much better in my hand but I decided to let it go and purchase instead the G17 Gen 5 primarily because I wanted to have a truly reliable handgun if shit hits the fan. If I was only going for marksmanship and wasn’t concerned about self defense I would’ve kept and only used the Smith & Wesson 2.0.

    If you say anything negative about a Glock you are branded a "Glock hater". Glocks don't blow my skirt up and I won't apologize for that. I'm not a Glock hater, they just feel foreign in my hand, where other guns feel natural and comfortable.

    The M&P is designed from the Glock and refined it in nearly every way, for a better firearm. For anyone complaining about the trigger, one word: APEX. I don't understand anyone that doesn't put an Apex in their M&P. Not only is the trigger tight, crisp and provides far better accuracy and follow up, it is to the standards of law enforcement carry (no getting jammed up in court over it). Glock has a beautiful simplicity to it, but it does not shoot as well. It's snappier, with a weaker follow up and it's ergonomics aren't even close. It may have an endurance edge though, I gotta give it that. M&P is no slouch though in the build quality.

  • @garyv3588

    Perfect example. Purchased brand new from BudsGuns.com a Smith And Wesson M&P 2.0 9mm 17 rounder. Apparently the firing pin was hitting the primer in Northern Hemisphere LOL. It literally was almost hitting the back of the 9mm stamp vs the actual primer WTF !!! Sent it back to Smith And Wesson and they fixed it. Then I sold the gun and months later purchased the identical gun brand new from Buds Guns.com sure enough the idiots at the Smith And Wesson factory actually put the compact barrel into my long slide M&P 2.0 WTF !!! So the barrel was actually inside of the slide vs sticking out past the long slide like my previous M&P 2.0 9mm That’s extremely sad Smith & Wesson had two brand new military grade firearms that should have never made it off the inspection line.

      Thats exactly why I went w. the Glock. Less potential problems & very strict quality control. Long term pistol durability is off the charts excellent for the Glock as well. The M&P has years to prove this pistol can hang.

    One thing that bothers me that I just relaized is you really can't get factory M&P parts anywhere. I find this kind of odd. I can pretty much get every factory part for a Glock and even the Sig P320.
    That alone makes me want to look at the Glock lina again. I got out of Glocks during the Gen 3. I still think they are outstanding weapons, but the Gen 3 just did not work for my hand size. Then the Gen 4 9mm ejection issues and slides falling off kept from looking at Glock again. Now the Gen 5 has my attention.
