    RECIPE (10min prep time):
    -1 cucumber
    Grate it and squeeze out all the water.
    -2 cloves minced garlic
    -400g vegan yogurt
    -2 Tbsp each chopped mint and parsley
    -juice of 1/2 lemon-salt and pepper to taste
    -a drizzle of olive oil
    Mix and enjoy.

      Είμαι Έλληνας και ζω στην Ελλάδα. Η κλασική συνταγή δεν περιέχει μέντα και μαϊντανό. Αντί για λεμόνι βάζουμε ξύδι. Το αγγούρι αφού το τρίψουμε σε χοντρό τρίφτη, το στρίβουμε και μετά το αλατίζουμε. Περιμένουμε πέντε λεπτά και με την επίδραση του αλατιού βγάζει όλα τα ζουμιά του και το ξαναστίβουμε. Καλό είναι το γιαούρτι να μην έχει υγρά. Εγώ χρησιμοποιώ στραγγιστό γιαούρτι, διαφορετικά το βάζω σε πανί και το στίβω να φύγουν τα υγρά (όπως το αγγούρι στο video). Επίσης δεν βάζουμε πιπέρι.Όμως οι πειραματισμοί είναι καλοδεχούμενοι και η μέντα σίγουρα δίνει ιδιαίτερο άρωμα. Ευχαριστούμε.

    Greek person here. Actually dill is the herb used in tzatziki. The other herbs just give it a taste of a different cuisine. Also a tip : for every 200gr of yogurt add 3tbsp olive oil and 1tbsp vinegar

      For me, tzatziki has to have dill, otherwise its joghurt sauce, and i get disappointed when someone offers me "tzatziki" like that - and im not even greek 😅

      Glad you corrected her about the dill! A person can change something about a recipe if they wish but they should always state that this is their spin on the recipe, otherwise the culinary heritage of the world could be lost to future generations.

      Kheera raita is a bit different because it uses curd which is runnier than Greek yogurt and it also uses a higher proportion of curd so it is like a side dish while tzaziki is a dip

      middle eastern use fresh or dried mint no parsley. I use only dry mint it enhances the flavor of mint .

    we have "cacık" in Türkiye and it is my favourite dip sauce also it is not the same but it is much like that

      Γεια σου γείτονα (Komsu). Το τζατζίκι του video δεν είναι το κλασικό ελληνικό τζατζίκι. Έχεις δίκαιο. Το τουρκικό με το ελληνικό τζατζίκι είναι σχεδόν ίδια, Χαιρετισμούς από την Ελλάδα.

      @@elenka775 Τοποθετώ μισό κιλό γιαούρτι στραγγιστό (χωρίς υγρά), σε ένα βαθύ μεγάλο πιάτο ή μπολ. Ξεφλουδίζω μισό αγγούρι και το τρίβω σε χοντρό τρίφτη. Το τοποθετώ σε ένα πιάτο και το αλατίζω. Ανακατεύω για να πάει παντού το αλάτι. Το αφήνω αλατισμένο για δέκα με δεκαπέντε λεπτά να βγάλει και αλλά υγρά (λόγω του αλατιού). Το πιάτο με το αγγούρι το τοποθετώ με τρόπο που να γέρνει από την μια μεριά, για να συγκεντρώνονται εκεί τα υγρά. Μετά από δέκα με δεκαπέντε λεπτά το στύβω με τις δυο παλάμες μου, λίγο - λίγο, για να φύγουν τα υγρά. Όσο περισσότερο μένει το αγγούρι με το αλάτι, τόσο καλύτερα. Το στράγγισμα πρέπει να γίνει πολύ καλά, διότι αν υπάρχει νερό στο τζατζίκι, δεν θα έχουμε επιτυχία. Προσθέτω το τριμμένο και πολύ καλά στημένο αγγούρι στο γιαούρτι. Πολτοποιώ (λιώνω) τρεις με τέσσερεις σκελίδες σκόρδου (μερικοί τις κόβουν σε πάρα πολύ μικρά κομματάκια) και τις προσθέτω στο γιαούρτι. Ψιλοκόβω λίγο άνηθο (μερικοί δεν βάζουν άνηθο) και τον προσθέτω στο γιαούρτι. Τέλος βάζω λίγο ελαιόλαδο και λίγο ξύδι. Ανακατεύω πολύ καλά και είναι έτοιμο. Δοκιμάζουμε. Αν το αλάτι (είχαμε βάλει στο αγγούρι) είναι λίγο, προσθέτουμε και άλλο. Τέλος: Οι ποσότητες των υλικών μπορούν να αλλάξουν, ανάλογα με το γούστο μας.Φυλάσσεται στο ψυγείο για αρκετές ημέρες. Αν έρχεται κάποια απορία όταν το φτιάξετε, παρακαλώ στείλτε μου μηνυμα. Καλή επιτυχία !

    Here in Greece we actually don't put any lemon juice or pepper... 😅but still glad you enjoy it that much 😊
    Also about the cucumber we usually peel it off ... 😅
    Sorry if I sound judgy or anything I'm just saying how we do it here, not trying to make you do it the same, enjoy it however you want and like , the fact that you love it makes me happy cause it's also my fave snack 😊

      ​@@Fitzroyfallz if you are talking about the cucumber it's not really unusual to leave the skin or peel it off it's just that you'll see it more without the skin. I personally peel it off cause you never know if there have been harmful chemicals used to produce and grow cucumbers faster. But if you do wash it a lot then it will be okay.

    this is a typical side dish where I come from.. but I never had it with grated cucumber. we usually just chop it finely.. but still it's really good. and I love how diverse your food choices are .. great job 💙💙

    In Greece we make it without the herbs ( although some might add dill) and vinegar instead of lemon. Everything else correct. A tip is to wait sometime before you eat it because the garlic combines and kicks In more

    Traditional greek tzatziki needs chopped fresh aneth / dill (not persil neither mint). cocumber and garlic and extra vergin olive oil of course, sel and pepper . Greek yoghurt is what really makes the difference ❤

      @@ele8r Yes optionally. In Athens for instance we don't put vinegar normally when accompany meat or gyros etc . Traditionally in many regions we keep its consistency as solid as possible 😊

      No dairy yogurt please. Bad for health. mama cow is torn away from her baby. Baby is deprived of the milk that belongs to him/her. Vegan plant based yogurt is best for animals, your health and the planet!!

    I’m from Northern Greece. No lemon, pepper, or olive oil. You have to have 100% full fat yogurt.

If I had a regular yoghurt I would shit my pants, but it's kind of comforting to eat something that's similar to yoghurt and that I can call yoghurt. Go cry about it

    I admire those who are able to use clean towels to remove water like this. In my house all fabrics are covered with dog and cat fur. I have two air purifiers and it’s still not enough 😂

    It’s called cacık in Turkey. We only add garlic, dill or mint. No parsley. We chop cucumbers fine. Don’t grate them.

    You prepared a sauce, not tzatziki!
    Tzatziki DOES NOT CONTAIN parsley, lemon and mint!
    Tzatziki is made of cucumber, garlic and dried spearmint. And of course olive oil.
    Do your homework before doing a video!
