I love your way of training my dog. I have a 1 year old pit bull mix and she is out of control. But with your videos I think I can make my wife change her mind about adopting her. Some other videos were not as kind to my pet. I believe in being firm but not mean. You touched on it in this video about those ways .
I'm so at my wits end with my 7 month old puppy Boog, and his behaviors. He's a sweet dog, I walk him often and play with him, he has the best of everything, but it's clearly not enough. Our whole family is convinced he's untrainable, they've grown to not like him, and feel that he'd be best in another home. I refuse to believe that. I adore him. I've watched a number of videos this morning. Your videos make the most sense to me. I really feel like we have a fighting chance once I put these tips into play. Thank you for being the light at the end of our tunnel. I believe our Boog can come out the other side of his pitfalls. Tina ~ Sudbury, Ontario, Canada 💗
Our 3 year old, 110 pound, lab shepherd mix is a frantic happy jumper guest greeter. I'm so happy to have found this video, and going to give it my best go. We've always tried supervising visitors to work with the 'four-on-the-floor' for attention rule, but to no lasting behavior changes.
Wonderful! I've taught make dog to make me a coffee. I'm not talking about that freeze-dried rubbish, either. Filter coffee, lots of cream, lots of sugar.
Sir you are absolutely an inspiration and a true intellectual. Your method of reaching dogs inside out, instead of outside in is incredible. Those who use force are awful to wittness. 100/10!!
I have a hyperactive staffy x great Dane (who's growing rapidly) and I've been binge watching all these videos and... I got a lot of work ahead of me...
Thank you for your technique ,our puppy had an accident while in her kennel, she is a climber and tried to get out, unfortunately she must have gotten her back paw caught between the bars she popped her kneecap up and required surgery, She is doing amazingly well thanks to our wonderful vets, But her training was put on hold for a bit...now 7 months old still working on play biting and jumping..hope sharing this help's another pet parent..small dog a crate is better..💖

thank you so much. I am really happy I found your channel my cane corsa is 10 weeks and is already sitting lie down touch paw and up commands but most of then you taught me to teach her and now in hoping this video about jumping helps her to socialise without other owners removing thier dogs because shes so 'bouncy'.. thank you xox

Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution what do you do when a 5 month old golden retriever rolls over and will not come or go anywhere. They just lay down and I have to pick them up. Even treats won't work, nor toys to get her to come or move. It's usually with somewhere she don't want to go.
Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution my dog Lexie (not the German Shepard puppy) is 9, fab dog love of my life, but she jumps on men to be aggressive. Women she puts her head down wags her tail and wants some affection. Men she looks squarely in their face and if they give any interest she wants to pull and jump on them and she nips them in the hands, arm, chest. Now I'm going to be honest, I've trained her well with sitting and laying on command. She knows not to approach anyone without my approval so there is never a concern of her pulling and attacking a man, but even her sitting or lying next to me her mouth is open she is panting and all her excitement is directed at him. Now if he ignores her, the panting and fixation goes away when he leaves, but if he gives her attention, "like hello girl, how are you?" It just heightens her aggression. At that point you can see she is holding it in as much as she can, either sitting or laying, but me trying to distract her or move her heightens the fixation. I've learned to have her just stay seated and wait until the man leaves and when he does and she is calm, release and reward with with affection. So her aggressive behavior towards men hasn't gotten better and I've had her for seven years. Note she was found abandoned and obviously had some traumatic experiences with men as she has never liked them. The only ones have been my brother and Dad. She is "a mature" dog and at this point I feel it's just doing what I'm doing, but because of it, I don't let anyone except me walk her for fear she may attack a man while walking, or she may come across a skateboard. Same is the case with a skateboard. She hears it she has the same reaction. In the garage, I wanted to see what she would do and she bites it especially the wheels and scratches it. Funny thing is someone told me to try get her to ride on it and I did. She actually liked it, but her excitement is such at it extreme she can only do it for a moment then wants to flip it and eat the wheels. I tried to have a trainer help and she ended up nipping her. Needless to say after the trainer got frustrated and started cussing at my dog and threatening her in front of me, I just got frustrated and really thought it's something I need to cope with it. If a professional can't help and she does better with me, maybe it's just I have to deal with it.
hi everyone ,if anyone else is searching for puppy training tips try Jaffacter Simple Dog Coach (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my partner got great success with it.
Hi Zak, I have a 5 months old Lab puppy. He loves jumping on us a lot. He stays in the back yard mostly, So when I get home, he starts jumping. I don't open the door until he sits down. When he sits down, then I open the door and ask him to shake for a Hi, then treat him, but as soon as I step forward few steps, he jumps. Saying No, ignoring, even pushing him down with my knee or on his shoulders don't work. He knows all the sit, stay, and watch me commands well. Can you give me any idea on how to stop him from jumping on us first rather than guests.
Hi Zak, I watched another you tube trainer when I first got my puppy. Her suggestion was to teach the puppy to jump on you then you can teach it to stay off. Well that’s a fail for us. I am glad I found your channel. Keep up the good work. Needless to say I do not watch her anymore. Thank you for all you do.
Hi Zak, your videos are very informative. I have a 7 year old Boston Terrier that jumps on me as soon as I walk in the house. I have tried to ignore her but she continues to jump. I will practice your technique. She is very food driven, so hopefully with some time and consistency I can teach this old dog a new trick.
Would love to see how to walk a huge, 165lb Great Dane, on a flat collar and leash. Not all the other gimmicks. He pulls hard. Walks well on pinch. Hates the halti and gentler leader walker. Still pulls on the walker and halti.
Get the huge version of this: www.cannyco.us/ ... works really well, much better than the gentle leader imo. This tool also allows you to ween your dog off the face harness concept as you can easily put on and off the nose bit. Take it off when she starts getting better, put it back on if she falters and needs a pick-me-up. This doesn't twist their head/neck around like the gentle leader, but rather puts pressure on the snout and pushes their head down toward the ground. It almost auto-corrects.
I haven’t had a puppy in 13 years and my husband and I decided it’s time to add to the family. I’ve been watching your videos since I found out we were brining her home and I feel much more prepared then I did! Thank you.
All of your videos are insanely helpful. Thank you for the free training content. I am adopting a young pit bull as an ESA and my rented apartment does 't usually allow dogs, but if there are complaints, they won't let me keep her so this is extremely helpful.
I've tried "removing myself" when my pit bull starts jumping on me but he doesn't let me go. He'll run in front of me, bark, growl, and worse of all, bite my feet. Very frustrating.
Chris Tran I have a pitbull they did the same thing. Minus the bark and growl. I’ve noticed she responds to sound. So every time she jumps I snap my finger or clap and ignore her. She gets no touch unless she’s in a calm state. It takes consistency but it works! Good luck with your pittie :)
IMO pit bulls don't listen. If your dog is growling at you and it's a pit bull.... you should think about the dangers. Maybe you could google "pit bull attacks," there was another fatal one a few weeks ago OF THE FAMILY DOG. Pit bulls aren't like other dogs, so most rules about dogs don't apply to them. Some cities have banned them and I'm all for that. And I love dogs and wolves. I'm serious. I might be in trouble here because Zak has a pit bull mix, but that's my honest to god opinion.
@@mandyinseattle agree to disagree! I have a stray pit and shes a rescued stray I adopted. Shes well obedient and were now working on our jogging together! Shes also into tracking deer/elk sheds! So yeah....
Dear Zak, your videos are huge help in training our puppy! She learnt a lot already including sit, stay, paw, high five :), can even wave bye bye hehe, and now we are training to prevent her from jumping which she does a lot out of excitement when she sees someone or even us as owners and leash pulling :))
i loved this video we just had our cat pass away from an anurism couple months back my daughter loved her and i raised her from a kitten so she was my bud..we rescently got a small mix bread from all breads rescue kinda looks like a miniture shep..we have been trying to stay consitant to train him and eventually want him to be a service dog for my daughter..hes a loveing playfull boy but hes also very exscitible..this vid deffenitly helped keep up the great work..also love how you dont do the whole be dominent thing
Shanice Exactly! My GSD puppy jumps up on the door five feet, howling when someone comes over. I can barely keep him down on a leash when someone comes in. He pulls, jumps and howls. I've had dogs all my life. Never seen this before.
Jackie Moreau mines the same, when some comes over the noises he makes when I have to hold his leash sound like he's being tortured and he shakes so bad, talk about manic!!!
Exactly what mine does, like he'll die if he doesn't get to jump on them. It really sounds psycho. He only does it at home. If we're out, he sits nicely when someone approaches him to pet him. Idk if it's jealousy at home or what, but it's making me crazy. Zak!!! S.O.S!!!!!
You really think they'd run out of energy soon, but it's like they never do! My dog Chi-Chi just keeps jumping and licking constantly. I try to ignore her when she does it n tell her to sit, but that only works for 2 seconds tops.
finally, someone I can go to for help who makes sense!!! thank you..I have found that our German Shepherd needed more exercise and I will be continuing to use your methods to stop unwanted jumping. .thanks so much!
So we have an Australian cattle dog and her name is Corra. We've had her since she was 6 weeks old and she is a year old actually next week. I'm trying to fix the damage I have done. I was raised to train a dog in a harsher way I'm really embarrassed to admit it but I just didn't know any different. No I didn't beat her but I did smack her nose or if she jumps I put my knee out and after doing research I realized I was wrong on my training. She nevered learnt anything from this type of training if anything it has just made her kinda scared of me I feel. How can I repair the damage I caused? What are the best ways to make a dog listen? Please no one post nasty comments I already feel pretty stupid and now I'm trying to fix it.
Hey Jordan, I feel your pain.. Cora's only a year old, don't despair. Now you know you were using the wrong techniques, you can change that. At least you're intelligent to realise you were wrong. That's big stuff. Play with her (her favourite game) and give her good massages... I've been learning various techniques to train dogs for the past three years and the times the dogs I've worked with listen most is when I speak quietly...sometimes I whisper and for me, there's no need to repeat their name or the command a dozen times to get a result.:)x
Jordan Collins Hey, you admitted a mistake and are trying to fix it. I don't see any reason to blast you for that. It's not like you're telling people to punish their dog after the fact, right? Hang in there, be consistent with the good training, and good luck to you.
I am so glad I found you on UA-cam. I just got a pet from the SPCA and I haven't had to train a pet in over two years. So thank you for making these videos available.
I've taking my mastiff mix puppy for classes and this seems to be the hardest for her. I'm still working on this. She is just so happy all the time and wants everyone. Going to try your videos in the morning
Please help: We just got a new 4 week old puppy and we noticed that our keeps mounting her and, well, humping her. He does this whenever no one is watching, and the puppy keeps whimpering when he does it. Just the other day, I went down to the basement and I found them both there with our cameras set up and on.
Thank you!! Amber our 5 month old service-dog-in-training loves to "greet" people she knows..uh huh! by jumping. I reviewed this video again. I took more careful note about what you said about working on STAY! is our puppy class assignment again this week. I'm feeling more inspired rather than pooped out with the Lab/ German Shepard after going to pet store for class.
I've just inherited an 11 month old pitbull from my daughter that has not had any training but possesses a lot of energy. Watching these videos he has learned to sit and lay down on command (with the help of treats of course). Our next mission is to learn how to stay and this video was very helpful and I will get started with him asap. I would also like to learn how to walk him properly. I am a cat person so this dog thing is new but I really want to be successful with this dog. He tends to grap the leash and put it in his mouth when clipped to his collar. When I try to walk him he's jumping so I will look forward to your video on walking a dog.
You can't even know how much help I need with my dog...she's biting, jumping on strangers that doesn't like it, getting distracted by everything like cats other dogs people kids even bags flying in the street! she have too much energy and for 6 months since I found her I can't teach her stop pulling the leash and I used your tips, she puts so much power into it until she chokes herself, she never listens to me when outside, and when indoors it takes many times until she listens, she's stealing food from the trash, eats from the floors, she's running from side to side when she doesn't get our food or something else she wants, she's too aggressive with her toys (barking on them and attacking them) and loosing interest after 5 minutes like what happens when she plays with the Kong Wobbler, she doesn't want to stop barking especially if there are people in the house...I tried so hard and spent hours with her trying to teach her...but in the last 6 months there are no results...do you have some suggestions?
Wow, that isn't a good dog. A really great trainer could probably get results eventually but a difficult dog will probably always be difficult. It is much easier to train a dog that has a good temperament and obedient disposition. Dog lovers will hate me for saying this but the best thing you can do is get rid of this dog. It usually isn't hard to find a new home for a dog by putting it on Craigslist if you can't bear to take it to a shelter. (Don't be tempted to take the dog back if the new owner doesn't want it.) It may seem cruel but too many people waste their time on dogs that just won't listen. There are many, many wonderful dogs being put to death in animal shelters every day. Do yourself a huge favor: Go visit a shelter and choose a dog that is calm, friendly and quiet or buy one from a reputable breeder. A good breeder breeds for good temperament as well as other breed standards. It will be hard to part with your dog if you're attached to her but you'll get over it and you'[ll save yourself years of aggravation. Your neighbors will probably thank you if the dog is barking a lot.
Karin Blum I disagree with Cory a little bit. Watch caesar Milan on dogs that don't have a calm state of mind. A calm state of mind isn't like a personality trait it can taught with a lot of effort and persistence, a dog that does have a calm state of mind can actually lose that if it disciplined correctly. I'm having the same problem with my 5 month old pup, but I know I'm not going to give up, because I know even if i feel like I haven't made much progress, giving him up is going to make him go another step back. I would suggest work on one problem at a time instead of trying to do all at once, try teacher her tricks like sit, stay, leave it, come when called if you can get her to learn those tricks and do them in any sort of situation, you're making a lot of progress and also dogs are very consistent so you need to be as well, try your best to always give her the same exact treatment every time she does that specific thing whether it's wrong or right for example if she sits quietly playing with her toy, praise her and even interact with the toy with her ( this will help her not get bored of the toy as well ) whereas if she chews up something or does something bad stop her with the same tone and consequence, shel learn okay I'm not going to ever get away with doing that and I prefer the attention I get when I play with my other toys. Please don't give I know it's frustrating but most dogs in those shelters are in them for that exact reason they are too hard to handle .
Amanda Murphy you think i didn't tried all of this? she knows all of those commands! but she doesn't wanna do them, i need to call her name 10 times and repeat the command 10 times until she feels like listen to me, as said in this video, im trying to look at her eyes but she moves her head away from me every time and every little noise distract her, sometimes when i mad at her i repeat the word sit two or 3 times and she looks in my eyes and refuse to do it, then i repeat it slowly like: s--i... and before i complete it she sits, in my eyes it looks like she understand what the word is and what i want her to do but she doesn't want to do it. it's frustrating
wow thank you i found this just at the right time ... our dog has just come back to us after a rehoming atempt that didnt work out ... we are keeping her now and will follow your advice
Ignore him. If that doesn't work, put him into another room and only let him go back to you when he is calm. Only give him attention when he is calm. When you play with him or pet him and he starts biting your arms/clothes, stop immediately and only continue when he is calm. I also realized that if he does it while walking it helps to tell him something else to do. Just do a little training exercise and then continue walking (I've got the same problem with my dog and that's how I do it. It takes time though)
I love your videos! I do go to a trainer and also utilize your teaching as well! My trainer matches what you teach but you definitely add to what I learn from her!
Hey fellow youtubers., for training either a new puppy or an existing pet who is struggling to behave, go to onlinedogtraining .us and download their free ebook
Michael Owensby "stuggling to behave" humans struggle to behave! a dog who jumps for joy is behaving just fine.. like you dont shout at kids when they get a gift and jump around
Would love to see the video on having your dog NOT run out the door when opened! But of course, ALL your videos are essential!!!! We have a new golden puppy, 5 months old and have been training her with your videos pretty successfully!!! Can't thank you enough and as soon as I figure out how to donate - I'm on it!!!
practice. your dog will need to know how to sit on command first. make him sit in front of your door. say stay or wait as you go to open it. if they get out of sit position close door and start over. do this over and over until they learn that the door will not open unless they are sitting. from here you can use the wait command. leash them on a long leash. have them sit to get the door open. repeat wait and make sure they are sitting while they wait. gradually make your way out the door leaving the dog behind. repeat wait until you've gone about 6 ft out. if they are still sitting and waiting tell them "ok" and tug the leash a little or pat your leg. it'll take a bit for them to grasp wait and the release command ok, but it's worth it. my dog got it in about 5 minutes, but she's exceptionally smart.
It blows my mind how there are still dog trainers in the year 2019 that would advocate kneeing your dog in the chest to show him who the boss is, its gross.
Just found your video - a white probably 1-year-old(ish) DEAF pit bull/boxer mix showed up on our porch when it was -3 out. How anyone could desert any animal is beyond me - and in such frigid weather even worse! Anyway, we also have an 7-year-old Yorkie and a 10-year-old Chihuahua that we were able to train rather quickly because they could hear our praise and our scolding, but our deaf dog is quite a challenge. I subscribed to your channel and I look forward to watching your videos.
So many waggly butts out of control tails, just wanting to jump in excitement as Zak gets closer to them in those formal group training videos 😭😂 Too precious. So hard to not reinforce jumping when it's accompanied by behavior that says the dog is just beside themself to see you, and is shaking almost the last half of their body in joy.
How to teach my dog to walk only on the pavement and not jumping on the street in front of vehicles. Your approach is brilliant, I can't stress enough how glad I was to stumble on your youtube channel.
Just found your videos and they have been very informative! I have a Dorkie and she is like a bouncy ball when she see's someone she knows. Tomorrow we start a new way of training! Thank you so much and I look forward to watching your other videos.
Hi Zak, Your videos are such a help and that too for a first time dog owner. I love the way you interact with the dogs and I must say that is how dogs should be trained. My issue is the fact that my German Shepherd is 16 months old. I have successfully made him to learn the basic sit and down commands. He has somewhat learnt the stay command as well. The latest is the JUMPING problem. How should I train a dog this old? is it too late or I can still work with him?? Thank you. Regards, Ziad
i am soon bringing home my esa puppy. i am so glad you have this channel. you teach us humans very well to teach our furbabies. my jug is going to be trained to become a psychiatric service dog, and we can both thank you for giving me the confidence to help her help me. also... you are cute.
thanks zak i love watching your videos. i needed this one for my yorkie. she doesnt jump on anyone she just jumps and does flips cuz she needs more exercise.
Great video, Zak. The jumping up on us has been such a problem for us with our MastiffxDane puppy (now nearly 5 months old). Everything we've been doing was wrong. What you present makes so much sense. How can we apply this same technique to stop him getting his front paws up on the kitchen bench? Do we just ignore it and walk away? Thank you. We would love to see the video re the dog learning not to go put the front door - we don't have a fence on the front yard, and the road is only a couple of dog-bounds away from the road. Thanks again, Sally
Thank you so much for these videos. I just got a golden retriever and he is my first big dog. I’ve always had very small dogs, so some of the things the golden retriever is doing are different issues for a different dog. He’s definitely high energy, and your tips make so much sense. It makes me more confident that I will be able to train him. Subscribed!
Great video! I love how you not only gave instruction, but you also gave reason behind the instruction... Giving the background information helps those watching to understand exactly what is going on without any missing pieces. Thank you!
Enjoying your book Zak! Your approach is helping some family members who are new to dogs feel more empowered and confident around our new German Shepherd puppy, "Ecco!" Keep up the great work!
Zak, I really enjoy your videos and find them so helpful. I am using your instruction and I am starting to see positive results. Jumping is a big issue for me. I am constantly being cut by my dog’s claws. I am on blood thinners so I bleed a lot. Thanks for your suggestions. I will certainly use them.
I'd like to see both of those. Leash walking without pulling my arm out of it's socket is probably the biggest one but not running out the door is also a big one. Thank you for your great videos.
This was so helpful. My dog Rooney Doodle Moroz (named after Wayne Rooney) is almost 2 and has been jumping sense the day we got her. She often gets to excited when we take a 5 minute walk and come home to a jumping happy pup. Often when we lay on the floor, she feels the need to lick our faces and when we role over face down , she tucks her head underneath ours to give us kisses. I love her so much.
Thank you for this tip my dog is very good with the sitting and staying and waiting but not good when it come to being over excited and jumping on myself and my friends and family and new people seem to find him a bit scary to approach sometimes but he really is a sweet dog once you know him

I love how all these dogs take so easily to you. Speaks volumes about your work :) thank you for the videos!
I love Zak! I did a search for jumping and I am with him 100%
This was a fantastic video!!!! Great energy and examples. I especially liked the part about being calm when they jump. I struggle with that.

Quarantine stopped me from going to puppy school. It’s so hard to train her, she’s full of energy
Following his advice, I’ve been able to teach my dog to shake hands whenever he meets a new person. Thanks for the tips!
Wonderful! I've taught make dog to make me a coffee. I'm not talking about that freeze-dried rubbish, either. Filter coffee, lots of cream, lots of sugar.

Patience is the key, you're right.
Sir you are absolutely an inspiration and a true intellectual. Your method of reaching dogs inside out, instead of outside in is incredible. Those who use force are awful to wittness. 100/10!!
I'm on a marathon with your videos. Gawwd it is so helpful and informing to watch. I can't wait till my dog is trained like this!
I have a hyperactive staffy x great Dane (who's growing rapidly) and I've been binge watching all these videos and... I got a lot of work ahead of me...
Zak, this video has been an awesome game changer for me and my Boston Terrier, Beanpot. Beans is 9-months-old and has a lot of energy!!
This was literally the best “no jump” video I’ve seen
Thank you for your technique ,our puppy had an accident while in her kennel, she is a climber and tried to get out, unfortunately she must have gotten her back paw caught between the bars she popped her kneecap up and required surgery, She is doing amazingly well thanks to our wonderful vets, But her training was put on hold for a bit...now 7 months old still working on play biting and jumping..hope sharing this help's another pet parent..small dog a crate is better..💖
I was teaching my dog to sit. Went quite well but now he jumps so that I tell him to sit 😂🤦🏽♂️

Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution love your videos and have learned alot about basic obedience with my pitbull made training her a breeze
hi everyone ,if anyone else is searching for puppy training tips try Jaffacter Simple Dog Coach (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my partner got great success with it.
Can train your dog
This has been so helpful at helping me understand what NOT to do, and clear up misunderstandings about why dogs jump on you. Thank you
Hi Zak, I have a 5 months old Lab puppy.
I just wanted to say I really appreciate your training videos and your calm demeanor/approach to training!

Zak, How do you train people?? xD They all approach very fast!!!
Thank you.
you got a subscriber.!
All of your videos are insanely helpful. Thank you for the free training content. I am adopting a young pit bull as an ESA and my rented apartment does 't usually allow dogs, but if there are complaints, they won't let me keep her so this is extremely helpful.
I wanted to see how to keep the dog from running into the street
😱
Same lmao
Keep them in the leash and control
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I really appreciate these videos!!! Thank you for making them free and accessible!
Bree Momx3 lol that comment was 4 years ago lol
Ocee Jay 😂😂 oops well I hope his dog is calm now
IMO pit bulls don't listen.
Lol. This is petty jumping. How do you stop hyperactive jumping?!
Shanice my dog is hyperactive, become manic when someone come to the house
Shanice
Exactly!
Flonk Bob me
Jordan Collins- I'm in the same boat. Sigh
You've made the biggest step, you're trying a gentler approach. How to fix it? marathon watch Zak's vids.

I am so glad I found you on UA-cam. I just got a pet from the SPCA and I haven't had to train a pet in over two years. So thank you for making these videos available.
I've tried all of this but still my puppy jumps. She's 7 months now and it's not as bad but she does it 50% of the time .
barbara scott That's why you have to be consistent and keep doing it. Eventually she will stop.
I've taking my mastiff mix puppy for classes and this seems to be the hardest for her. I'm still working on this. She is just so happy all the time and wants everyone. Going to try your videos in the morning
U should do a video of how to stop your dog from begging😃
+Scarlett Chute That one is up next!
+Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution I tell my Golden (Charlie) not to beg and he lies down :).
***** SPAM!!!
I'd rather have the begging out of all the bad dog traits... than jumping, barking and humping all over. LOL
Please help: We just got a new 4 week old puppy and we noticed that our
keeps mounting her and, well, humping her. He does this whenever no one
is watching, and the puppy keeps whimpering when he does it. Just the
other day, I went down to the basement and I found them both there with
our cameras set up and on.
This man isn't really a dog trainer, he's a people trainer for how to interact better with your dog.

you probably torture your dog
+Karin Blum with the pulling you can use a halti,
Matthew Douglas I have no idea what halti is...
wow thank you i found this just at the right time ... our dog has just come back to us after a rehoming atempt that didnt work out ... we are keeping her now and will follow your advice
How to stop a 5 month old retriever mix from biting hands and clothes?... 😖
He has a video on that 😊

practice.
your dog will need to know how to sit on command first.
make him sit in front of your door. say stay or wait as you go to open it. if they get out of sit position close door and start over. do this over and over until they learn that the door will not open unless they are sitting. from here you can use the wait command. leash them on a long leash. have them sit to get the door open. repeat wait and make sure they are sitting while they wait. gradually make your way out the door leaving the dog behind. repeat wait until you've gone about 6 ft out. if they are still sitting and waiting tell them "ok" and tug the leash a little or pat your leg. it'll take a bit for them to grasp wait and the release command ok, but it's worth it. my dog got it in about 5 minutes, but she's exceptionally smart.
When i turn my back, i get my dog jumping on the back of my legs.
I really enjoy your videos Zak. I vote to see how to stop pulling on walks please!

Hi Zak,
Your videos are such a help and that too for a first time dog owner.
Thank you.

Great video, Zak. The jumping up on us has been such a problem for us with our MastiffxDane puppy (now nearly 5 months old). Everything we've been doing was wrong.
Thank you for this tip my dog is very good with the sitting and staying and waiting but not good when it come to being over excited and jumping on myself and my friends and family and new people seem to find him a bit scary to approach sometimes but he really is a sweet dog once you know him
Your videos are helping us so much! 🐶💞🐾 Thank you!
Great advice! I love how you encourage understanding the dogs needs and behaviours in order to train 👍
