My 4 month old Rottweiler is a sweetheart, but one thing she is doing is biting my daughter's dog's legs, ears, and his lips. He is a cocker spaniel and he doesn't stand up for himself. She doesn't bite me at all, obdience training she past with flying colors. I train her, I had more than one Rottweiler. I train her everyday. and play also. I just want her to stop biting him. Also the cocker lives with my rottie. They play everyday, but sometimes when Roxy my rottie tries to get him to play by shoving a toy in his face. I do a correction noise and she will.listen. Outside she does the extra biting Cooper.
My GSD 8 months old female has these exact same issues and only seems to be getting worse as she grows older. I’m 5’1 and my kiddo is 7. My dog Savage nearly towers us now, she’s strong! and we need desperate help! I’ve called every training facility in the area and they wait list is months on end long and not to mention $3 grand+
I’ve followed all your videos and have tried all the tips and tricks but her play biting is getting worse as she’s getting bigger and stronger!! She is in no way aggressive but she jumps on us (face level) and only obeys when “she” chooses too. She constantly challenges me (mostly my daughter) which is interesting.. when my daughter isn’t home, she behaves so much better. But she almost “competes” with my daughter as if she’s a dog or someone in competition with. Likely she just wants to play and she has a ton of energy. She knows the basic sit down lay down stay etc. but she is nearly impossible to walk her on a leash as she pulls and jumps on everything. She slips her harness and I’ve tried multiple brands. I’ve had dogs my entire life and she is my by far the most difficult and over stimulated dog I’ve EVER dealt with!
Again, she’s not bad (and I admit it’s likely user error)
She is very similar to this dog on the video though, which gives me some hope that she can change! I’m at a loss as to what to do at this point.
My arms and legs are all scratched and or bitten up from her “puppy bites and scratches”
I cannot get a muzzle on her for the life of me, she pulls them off. I’ve purchased Every single “lead, slip lead harness collar etc. but she won’t close her mouth long enough for me to get them on her. She bites her leashes or chokes herself crazy when I attempt to walk her. I feel like I’ve tried all I know how to do at this point, with the exception of professional help. Which is 1) hell of expensive and 2) apparently no one has the time..
If you or anyone can help me I WILL thank you with my life!!! I love my dog but i may have to find her a new home if this continues on (for the sake of my daughter) 😩 please please help!!

I am just watching/scanning thru these videos & noticed your comment. Am not a professional dog trainer. However, I have know exactly what you are experiencing. Have had dogs dogs my entire life ,began rescuing labs when I was in my teens and a few years ago(10) took on my first GSD rescue. Can first tell you for sure that alot of progress can be made with a GSD much like a Labrador that has "behavior issues" like you are experiencing...and that is lots of engaging activity & exercise. I know that sounds like a simply answer to what is a daily struggle for you. BUT let me say this- It Will be the most amazing relationship you have ever had with a dog if you don't give up and make it thru these difficult times with your GSD. It's also important to mention that this happens frequently with GSD's and it can be very detrimental to a GSD and their ability to develop into a well behaved dog/pet if it gets caught up in a cycle where it goes from one home after the other as most people do not know and are not equipped or have the true desire to give the time to truly own/train a GSD. They tend to build strong bonds with people and being handed over(which happens way more than you can imagine) is a hurdle for the dog to get past. You can only imagine what eventually becomes of GSD's that find themselves in these types of cycles. I don't know an answer to this. A better job could be done by the breeders to better vet whether or not potential new owners are capable and are completely aware of what is going to be required of them. Don't want to judge or persuade/prevent anyone from owning a GSD from being able to do so. Know that almost all people have great intentions and are often experienced dog owners. But almost more often than not you see the same cycle where people get a GSD and it is not something that they are prepared for and either tie it up to a tree and throw it a bowl of food once or twice a day or they recognize that its somethimng that they can't handle or don't have the time or desire to deal with and give it away to someone else who does not know or is not capable of owning/training the dog...and the cycle continues. forgive what may seem like a rant, but see it all the time and it is the dog that ultimately pays the price. GSD's are the most intelligent dogs and have the desire
/capability to be the best dog a family or an individual owner could ever had. Hate to see this happen so, please do not give up on the dog. I PROMISE YOU it will be the best dog and the most satisfying dog owning experience that you could ever imagine. Please update on what your current situation is with your GSD and if there is anything at all I could do to help you please do not hesitate to reply. Am in the process of trying to put together a rescue/help network in my region to help people with GSD's who are in situations like yours and/or help facilitate the re-homing of GSD's who have been given up due to behavior issues by tarining potential new owners to better increase the success.
Please tell me what to do if my 6 month old pup still viciously attacks me, when she gets her zoomies. It's so aggressive, I have to suppress the urge to kick her (which I of course have never done), when she jumps at my legs, trying to bite them.
@@notlisztening9821 Same problem here. Personally I think they are being remotely mind control programmed to act out more. It's so aggressive. I've put a prong collar on mine as it's the only way I am able to stay safe, and he even challenges the prong! I'm going to try some odd noises next I think. Someone suggested downloading an air horn app. I've also seen dog repellent noise makers for sale in PetSmart.

It's easy to address. 1st don't listen to him.
2nd. Every time you dog starts to jump you pop the leash. It's soon stop. Don't mess around ramming food in its face.

@@tweetspie06 Good for you for not listening to Bruce Peterson! He is obviously not a professional trainer. If you want a program that may help you with your dog, let me know and I will post links to 2 programs by professionals who know what they are doing. One is free and the other is an online course that does cost. Hang in there! Your dog can learn a new behavior. Good luck with your training!

The biggest lesson I am getting from Zak's videos is to BE PATIENT, which is so hard, especially for me! I want my Moira 2.0 to stop barking at other dogs NOW! You often can't see the progress when you are in the middle of it, but even 2 seconds of more focus on you is progress. Celebrate the small successes and don't focus on perfection.
I agree and I think Zak is doing fantastic with Moira. I love seeing the change in each video with how much she's progressed.
I've had my rescue for a little over a year he is 2.5yrs now and I live on a corner lot. I don't know that the neighbours see the improvement on the barking it is slow but happening.
TMS, I promise, if you _really_ try, patience will come more naturally with age. But again, you've gotta wait to get there.😂😂

Sadly, I believe that is probably a huge reason a lot of dogs end up either in the shelter or just really misbehaved. Training a dog is work, and it is constant. I can't even imagine having human children. Haha!!
Honestly finally seeing a video with an actual untrained dog which alot of are dealing with right now is so refreshing. I mean if zach a dog trainer is getting frustrated and struggling slightly to train this dog, imagine how us normal non dog trainers feel hahaha.
I am currently in the exact same situation with my dog, thankfully he is half the size of the german shephard but that doesnt make it any easier when he is in public. Watching and learning all i can too help myself help my dog. Just like this girl, it is not her fault she hasnt learned before now, and its not my dogs fault either. It always comes down to the owners. So im glad i can watch these real videos to learn how to be a better dog mum to my dog.

I just adopted a one year old aussiedoodle nd he does the same but when he plays he gets too excited nd jumps nd bites at the toy nd gets my hand pretty hard we are making some progress but it’s so hard to stay patient when he chomps on my hand
Hey guys same here my 9 months old Shepherd/Husky is trained by me, and is great with discipline and commands. But whenever I talk to people, he starts jumping up & mouthing on me, and it looks like I don't train him at all.
@@stylesybs2541 Ugh, same. My 6 month old golden retriever is great with commands, and very smart. But she jumps and mouths people soon as she sees them and it's embarrassing for me.

at 6:30 Moira is learning that with "Okay" she can go and get the toy... So I completely understand her when she was struggling at 8:30 when she wasn't allowed to get the toy with "Okay". Just the "Come" command would have been less confusing I think.

I used to cry and get mad when my dog would bite and jump on me. I would literally have a melt down and say I couldn’t do it anymore. She hasn’t done it 3 months. I don’t know what worked (probably me not giving her any attention when she does this) but I’m watching this video to see what helps.
"And this is what you do: Over and over and over." Dang nab it, Zak! Why do you have to be so realistic about this stuff?

Moira is soooo beautiful!! So happy that Zak is showing that large dogs don't need to be feared. They just need proper training.
I mean I know that all of us really appreciate Zak working through some really tricky stuff with such patience.. but did anyone see how effectively Zak got Moira to shift her biting towards licking?!? I saw it unfold slowly in front my eyes but it still feels like a magic trick haha. Zak is a genius dog trainer through and through.
The reason she is struggling to come to you when passing a toy, is because you are giving her the release command first "okay." You're saying "okay, come" The release command tells her that she is free to do whatever she wants, she is out of command. Just give her the "come" command by itself, it will help to make things more clear for her.
In spite of all tough, impatient movement's happens when I trian my dog, I fell happy and my heart smiles when I see zak training dogs,

Me and my husband just adopted a 10 months old shepherd/husky mix and OMG THE BITING and jumping from excitement is awfuuuullll. We have decided that we’ll do everything we can to train her because she’s our baby ❤️

If she knows the word "ok" means she is released and can go after the thing you threw based on sessions prior, perhaps try asking for a "sit" a "stay" and then say "come", not "ok". She knows what "come" means but she also seems to know "ok" is a release. Just a thought. This series is helping me a ton with my pup

This beautiful dog is blessed to get help from Zak. I was rescuing young dogs hours from being put down because no one wanted to bother with them. Dogs are a gift.
This isn't a comment to Zak or Bree, but to the people that continuously comment negatively on Miora's videos. Did anyone stop to think about what the shelter requires? In February of 2020 I fostered (failed) a puppy and in doing so I was required to sign a contract saying I would only train him using positive reinforcement techniques. If you have a problem with these techniques...take it up with the shelters..or ya know, just don't watch Zak's videos.....
Moira treated that Dremel like a toy. Also noticed you said "okay" to release her from the stay and she (I think) thought the "okay" meant it was alright to check out the toy. A great way to show that a change in circumstances pushes the training backwards until the dog makes the connection.
I also noticed the "okay" as a release word. And then "okay come" as a recall, might have worked better with a "Moira come" but I don't know 😊

i watched ur videos when i was a bit younger and i came back to them recently and to see the improvement in this mans life is crazy from the swaggy shoes to this big house and all of this rlly cool editing and new style is crazy the way he grew as a person amazes me i am only 15 rn but i’ve always wanted to train dogs of my own and have a ceaser milan type of thing just down scaled like live on a bit of land and have my dream dogs and rn i am dog sitting and i volunteer to walk dogs at my animal shelter

There’s this adoption dog at my work who everyone hates to take outside because he will jump up and bite your arms. He’s not aggressive, he just wants to play and no one will play with him. He’s currently working with me and our trainer and he’s progressing better. Thank you for the video :)

This dog has really grown on me over the course of this series. I never imagined I would be saying that and this is coming from someone who typically loves dogs with high drive. Absolutely amazing results especially considering the time frame.
The let go command was something I learned exclusively from your channel, and my dog is SO GOOD with let go now. It has helped her fetch a bunch, but I also use it when I want her to drop something she shouldn't be chewing on. She will excitedly drop it and anticipate what exciting thing I will give her (either throwing a toy or praising her with pets)

Loved this series. Have a dog Lola, identical to Moira and the same age. Learnt so much from this. The techniques used are the same as the puppy school I took her to, but this series made the techniques so much more hands-on.
I literally felt like I was the only one dealing with this issue, it’s truly difficult and it does takes a lot of patience.
You should have done your homework, before getting a dog, period!
@@Brian_Leca I already did my research before getting a dog, I’m saying it takes a lot of time, effort and patience to train a dog, obviously! Unlike other people who don’t train their dogs and their dogs are not behaved because of their stupid/lazy owner. One year later now my dog is fully trained, knows 40+ commands/tricks, crate trained and everything.
@@Brian_Leca Oh and also heard of puppy blues? Even if people did their research and prepared before getting a dog (especially a puppy) it is very difficult mentally and physically for the owner! That’s why so many people give away their dogs/puppies because of puppy blues even if they did their “homework”! I hear this from people who have over 15 years of experience with dogs and people who never owned a dog in their lives - some of them experience puppy/dog blues!

I'm so lost. My Roman just turned 1 and he's 110 pound great pyrenees /lab mix. He's always trying to knock me over to basically hump me, arm bite, jump, it's like he's forgotten all his training to basic commands. He won't even come to us when called anymore. Nothings changed in our routine. Just as he's gotten older he's become more aggressive. He's getting dangerous now in almost knocking me over, he's so big now. He pulls so hard when we walk him. My husband is 6"3 at 330 pounds and Roman pulls in almost knocking him down, he's so strong now!!!. We love him dearly and just want things to be safe with him. I will continue to watch these videos and follow your lead. I hope it works. Not giving up on my beautiful boy, mama's love. 💕

I really like this series. It really provides a realistic insight into how to train a dog especially for newbie owners like me. So informative and educational, words cannot express how grateful I am for this series. I really hope to be a better owner to my dog after all my learnings.
Thank you Zak! I enjoy your videos and have taken a lot of your tips into training my golden retriever pup (now 4.5 mos old). He's as high energy & loves tug/fetch just like Moira so this was a great reference- also likes to jump & play bite. He's making a lot of improvement over the few months :)
Love love love -- this has become a much watch for my students. It reinforces them that what I am telling them is not just made up but good scientific training techniques.
I have to admit, i never skip the intro. You totally nail it with the music and videos frames.
This was excellent. I have 2 ( very large sized ) problem jumpers and it's such a challenge whenever someone comes to the house. After watching this I'm hopeful that maybe you'll have or make a video that might help me deal with my particular situation. Thanks again for this gem of a series. I just came back to this episode with my 5 month old puppy who has been loosing her teeth and loves to bite my gloves. Apparently stuffing + leather makes a great chew toy - who knew? 😅 Just noticed you said golden opportunity with the golden retriever outside. I love the subtle puns you work in. The way you work them in seamlessly while managing a rescue and making your own show is awesome.
this is so helpful!! ive had my giant anatolian/german shepherd mix for about a year now, and he never learned to stop play biting and jumping!! its left me with so many scratches and bites from all of the leftover puppy biting. my parents never cared to train him, so here i am scouring the internet for a source to train him myself. all of the information youve provided about puppy biting is really helping me better understand why he always bites me!! thank you so much for making this video :)
Finally I find a helpful video. Left over puppy biting is a great way to explain this. I have a 1 year old Golden Doodle that communicates with his mouth and nipping. It hurts!

This is exactly the motivation I need. I rescued a 2yr old pitbull mix and she does exactly this! She can be intimidating to people that don’t know that she’s just playing. She’s such a sweetheart and I can’t wait to try these tips with her!
This series has been absolutely amazing. Zac sir, you are not just a great dog trainer but a great human trainer too. Tomorrow morning I am going to meet an 11 month old rescue German shepherd Rottweiler cross Bella and seeing you work with Moira was a revelation. I no longer am bad anxious about it. This is how you train a dog. Moira's a perfect student and she was a brilliant choice for this series. Thank you. I may be blogging about it and using your techniques. I will let you know if I do.
I have my own Moira we just adopted lasted. Shes 10months old so still some puppy in her, a shepherd Pittie mix, and very reactive to other dogs. Trying to work on the reactivity so I can take her out on adventures and have her be ok around other animals. Plus being on the spectrum and concept of time and patient is still a challenge to wrap my mind around for a dog. But she's showing progress and watching Zak's videos is helping. Though he makes it look so easy!

Love seeing Zak doing this! Lots of GSD owners say that Zak's method is not applicable to high energy breeds as GSD, which turns out to be wrong! Great video!

Thank you for this video, I needed a refresher. My rescued 11 month old puppy (got him at 4 months from people who kept him and a few other pups in the same kennel, they had to fight for food but he’s got zero food aggression) he jumps, but finally getting that he shouldn’t. I fed him by hand the first two months and found he was just fine when my cat wanted to see. My son can also take his toys and bones, so I’m thankful for that. He’s quite clingy though and because of it if he gets loose has a excellent recall. Weird how things naturally progress sometimes

I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm a homebody and have a 10 month old German shepherd, lab, Rottweiler mix. Got him when he was 10 weeks old and I regret not taking him for walks and meeting people. I'm hoping it's possible to do so now
