I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating - back in the day this was one of the albums that EVERYONE had. It was such a great album to have playing during parties too; peppy songs like this and a few really slow sensual songs too. Fantastic album from start to finish.
@@turdferguson400 - yeah, he's still touring! I never saw his act, but I did see him when the New York Rock 'n Soul Revue came around about 30 years ago!
Boz Scaggs covers 40 years of music here in the US starting with Steve Miller Band and striking out on his own. including work with Booker T & the MGs. Booker T. & the M.G.'s formed as the house band of Stax Records, providing backing music for numerous singers, including Wilson Pickett and Otis Redding. Booker T. My very first concert was The great Wilson Pickett when "When a Man Loves a Woman" was on the charts. Thanks for reminding me! Trying to replay it in my head. Glad you mentioned some of the musicians that paid their dues backing up other artists.
watching you react to these 70's songs is great. it seems as though you should have been there. it's nice to see younger people appreciating the awesomeness and variety we grew up with.thank you
David Paich co-wrote thus song. David Hungate (an original member of Toto), played bass. Mike took over as bass player for Toto, after David left the group. Of course Jeff Porcaro is one of the best drummers of all time. R.I.P. Jeff
You will love him, Jayvee! "Love Look What You've Done to Me, " "Miss Sun," "Lowdown," Breakdown Dead Ahead," are just a few.....! Thank you for all that you are doing! : - )
"Lowdown" and "Loan Me A Dime" are also great songs by Boz. Please also check out Tower Of Power (Sparkling In The Sand and You're Still A Young Man), and Traffic (Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys and Walking In The Wind). Thanks, Javon!
As a host you have a great balance of projecting into the show, without over doing it. Thank you. Boz Scaggs has been in the business for a long time. In 1969 (I am relying on an imperfect memory) Mr Scaggs recorded a 1930's song 'Brother can you lend me a dime?' accompanied by Duanne Almand.....might be of interest to you and your audience. Keep up the good work, thank you.
This is a song I heard as a kid, 1970's-80's. Your reaction to hearing it for the first time is awesome to see. It warms my heart that music from that era can still be appreciated. Peace !
The entire Silk Degrees album is phenomenal, every song is fantastic! Love me some Boz, saw him in concert two years ago, dude’s in his 70’s sounds exactly the same, band was tight!! And to top it off, it was a free concert at a park!!!🙌🏽🎸❤️
I love how he got his name. Case of mistaken identity. Some kid called him Bosley. He was called Bosworth , Bosman and so forth. After awhile it turned into Boz.
The songs on the Boz Scagg's album SILK DEGREES helped to get me through law school. I played it every day when I got home from classes just to unwind. His song Love Look What You've Done to Me is a must listen!
My favorite song by Boz Scaggs is "Loan Me A Dime". Play the studio version rather than live. The studio version features Duane Allman on guitar. Sultry blues playing.
This song always makes me think of Las Vegas because of the name "Lido" as in Lido De Paris, a former very popular show at the late, geat Stardust Hotel.
Just listen to the soundtrack of the movie "FM" "FM (No Static at All)" - Steely Dan "Night Moves" - Bob Seger "Fly Like an Eagle" - Steve Miller Band "Cold as Ice" - Foreigner "Livingston Saturday Night" - Jimmy Buffett "Bad Man" - Randy Meisner "Life in the Fast Lane" - Eagles "Breakdown" - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers "Just the Way You Are" - Billy Joel "Lido Shuffle" - Boz Scaggs "More Than a Feeling" - Boston "Tumbling Dice" - Linda Ronstadt "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me" - Linda Ronstadt "Do It Again" - Steely Dan "There's a Place in the World for a Gambler" - Dan Fogelberg "It Keeps You Runnin'" - The Doobie Brothers "Your Smiling Face" - James Taylor "Life's Been Good" - Joe Walsh "We Will Rock You" - Queen "FM - Reprise" - Steely Dan
Most of the Silk Degrees album is excellent, but a favorite of mine besides "Lido Shuffle" is "Georgia". A couple years later, he did "Jojo", another great one. That one has a music video too.
William Royce Scaggs, stage name Boz had limited chart success in UK. Four singles charted, "Lowdown" in 1976 made 28 and was in the chart just four weeks but it was big in the club scene. "What can I say" was his biggest UK hit reaching number 10 in early 1977 it remained in the chzrt for 10 weeks.
This takes me so far back. I was just starting my teen years. Playing babe ruth baseball, trying to figure out girls lol and trying to cope with the passing of my father. Funny how music can bring back the sights, sounds, feelings of various times of your life. Sigh.
This was massive. Love it, anything on this is a killer tune. Saw him, a blues guy from Texas. Check out Dukes of September. Donald Fagan (Steely Dan), Boz and Michael McDonald. good stuff.
Thanks for giving a reaction to Boz! His album Silk Degrees is a classic. My favorites from it are this, Lowdown, We're All Alone, It's Over, and Georgia.
I knew you'd start shuffling when he jumped to his higher register! As you know I like the love songs. We're All Alone or Harbour Lights are very nice apartment slow dance songs. : )

You would put on Lido to get the party turned up to 10. And then went to KMart the next day to get another copy :)
We saw him at Hard Rock in Biloxi MS 3 years ago. He was 73 at the time and still sounding great! You should really try some more songs from his catalog.
Another song that brings back memories! Everybody crammed into T. Sweenys car screaming..'Wo oh, Oh...hohohoo' at the top of our lungs...Couldn't have asked for a better time to be young and carefree, if you ask me!

Surprisingly simple song -- it's just two verses: verse - chorus - verse - chorus - repeat chorus. It's all about the arrangement and the production. A lot of songs will perform the verses exactly the same way each time through.
