This song contains one of my favorite musical moments in any tune - the transition with the horn section into a true major chord starting with the line, "Next stop Chi-town, Lido put the money down..." That musical shift just kicks the song into high-gear from which it never retreats and actually gives me chills.
Boz was schoolmates with Steve Miller and they were in bands together. In fact, Boz was in the earliest days of The Steve Miller Band. He left for a solo career before Steve had his big hits like "The Joker."
Lowdown will always be my favorite...this one is great as well as 'Breakdown Dead Ahead'...he also has a very jazzy tune called 'JoJo'...love to watch him having fun & interacting with his band in that video...seems like such a fun guy to hang out with!
It also sounded like his girlfriend was getting fed up with his antics: "Lido's on the run, having great big fun Til he got the note, Saying 'Toe the line or blow,' And that was all she wrote..."
Imagine seeing Boz in concert and this is the final song of the night. Thousands of people singing along at the top of their voices. One of the sexiest songs is Bozs "You can have be anytime" with killer guitar solo at the end from Santana.
Surely you two will get more subscribers…you are so magnetic, natural, uncontrived, and warm. Keep it up!!! Well done! And great reaction! If you like this…you’ll LOVE Boz’s “Lowdown.”
This was a big hit for Boz and always was a good times tune. To hear him stretch out a bit with a blazing Duane Allman on guitar, try Loan Me a Dime, it is a legendary jam. Enjoy! 🎸
A somewhat older Boz Scaggs will record one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard - 'Sierra'. Give it a listen! Just discovered your channel, looks like I'm going to have fun going back through the catalogue.
Boz Skaggs and Steve Miller were friends, with some of Skaggs' musicians playing with Miller from time to time. Both guys really understood the 'swapiness' of the New Orleans sound, Texas blues, and the art of writing catchy, memorable hooks. This is by far my favorite Boz Skaggs cut... it's a classic! You can hear how much of an influence on Billy Joel his music was.
Lol wow you hit the nail on the head girl! Exactly! I played this one night on the juke box and the whole bar was singing! It was such a happy time. This song is always going to ignite a good time. The Lido Shuffle is an epic party tune.
Yes Honey your Mom and Dad know this song. We didn't have 1000s of choices in the 70s of music and we all loved this to be honest. You two are also a positive duo keep it up 👍
Love listening to you guys listening to music from my time. Make me feel young again and you guys are so much fun. Still remember your reaction to marie laveau. So funny.
Boz Scaggs is so, so good! I encourage you to check out "The Dukes of September" It was a live act back in 2010. Boz Scaggs, Michael McDonald, and Walter Fagen played together and played all their hit songs. Being "The Doobie Bros" and "Steely Dan" and some other solo stuff. They had an All-Star ensemble of musicians playing behind them, really great stuff. I thoroughly enjoy your reactions! You guys are great!
Luv Ya'll so much and when I return to Lake Occone Georgia from Barranquilla, Colombia I must have you come visit; can you water ski? In 1973 on Christmas eve, I volunteered to do security above March AFB, and I would park my Mustang near and play an Underground rock station out of Los Angeles. Just after midnight they played a co-written Boz Scaggs and Dwain Almon piece called "Loan me a dime". It was an instant classic especially for a guy that listened to the Almon Bros. Jam at their farm outside Macon. Both Artist claim the song.
I've ALWAYS loved this song, but you opened my eyes to something on it that I CAN'T BELIEVE I never put together. It's SO obvious though now that y'all pointed it out here. The FIFTIES MUSICAL INFLUENCE is ALL over this song! Bowser from Sha-na-na might as well be in the back belting those lower horn tones in the background even. That's crazy. Good stuff. Good take on y'alls part.
Your mum definitely knew Boz Scaggs - this album went platinum so many times over. In 1976 it was the top selling album in Australia, and close to it in the US and UK.
nice video.this is one of my favorites as is breakdown dead ahead, also twilight zone by golden earring.all of them sound better the louder they are played
It reminds me of the concept of the movie THE STING. If you ever do movie reactions, this is a good one. Robert Redford plays a small time con man who meets up with Paul Newman for one more job, & it's a big con. Lots of twists & turns. Funny, cool ragtime music. Won best picture in 1973.
Thanks alot folks I just want to introduce to four types of music from each different countries if you don't mind and hope I will not bother you with my request to react on them. The first band is from US STYX the songs are SHOW ME THE WAY and MR. ROBOTO, the second band is American HINDER the song is BETTER THAN ME, the third is WINGER the songs are MILES AWAY and EASY COME EASY GO the last band is OPUS the songs are IT TAKES SO LONG and LIVE IS LIFE enjoy listen them
To me, this song was about a guy on the run from the mob....always trying to stay a step ahead of the people that he owes money to....always trying to get the money back on one last bet, big job, or gamble.

I agreee, and "Just long enough to grab a handle off the top" is right up there too
This song was huge when I was a kid, it’s one of those songs that gets stuck in your head.😂
It’s one that’ll just pop in there out of nowhere sometimes.
A 22 year old Jeff Porcaro played on this song. Incredible groove and he had it right from the start. This whole album is fantastic.
Just 22 years old, makes you think. So much talent lost way too soon. At least we have a tonne of tracks of his to enjoy forever
He played his own version of a shuffle inspired from Purdy. Hence the title of the song.
His love song"love, look what you've done to me" is just beautiful ✌️
Written with David Foster in one evening after the director of "Urban Cowboy" asked them for a song for his new movie.
This whole album is pure gold. A bit of trivia for ya'll, a large portion of what would become Toto played on this album.
Well that makes a lot of sense. They sound so powerful.
Yup
Platinum x 5!
That Toto factor did it. This album is very “Picaro” in its rhythm.
Boz was schoolmates with Steve Miller and they were in bands together. In fact, Boz was in the earliest days of The Steve Miller Band. He left for a solo career before Steve had his big hits like "The Joker."
I've got a cassette, yes cassette of Boz and Jerry Garcia sitting in with with Allman Brothers.
Fillmore West
1973.
Super bluesy.
Good stuff. 😁
A Beautiful Classic,, Boz Scaggs "Look What You've Done To Me"
This song has such infectious energy, i can't not listen when it comes on and honestly it is my favorite bike riding song ever :)
Lowdown will always be my favorite...this one is great as well as 'Breakdown Dead Ahead'...he also has a very jazzy tune called 'JoJo'...love to watch him having fun & interacting with his band in that video...seems like such a fun guy to hang out with!
Connie, Breakdown and JoJo are two great songs. 👍
The Album Silk Degrees is where this song came from. Sold 5 million copies and is one of my favorite all town Albums.
It also sounded like his girlfriend was getting fed up with his antics:
"Lido's on the run, having great big fun
Til he got the note,
Saying 'Toe the line or blow,'
And that was all she wrote..."
@@Metal_God good point! I hadn't considered it that way, and it makes sense.
Imagine seeing Boz in concert and this is the final song of the night. Thousands of people singing along at the top of their voices. One of the sexiest songs is Bozs "You can have be anytime" with killer guitar solo at the end from Santana.
This song is in the album "Silk degrees"
Every song on it is great... don't be afraid to do a deep dive
Surely you two will get more subscribers…you are so magnetic, natural, uncontrived, and warm. Keep it up!!! Well done! And great reaction! If you like this…you’ll LOVE Boz’s “Lowdown.”
The drum's rhythm is actually a shuffle beat. To the best of my knowledge, the song is about the life of a band's roadie(s),
The drummer was the late, great Jeff Porcaro, member of the band Toto and an accomplished session musician. 🥁
Boz Scaggs had another great hit classic in Breakdown Dead Ahead!
This was a big hit for Boz and always was a good times tune. To hear him stretch out a bit with a blazing Duane Allman on guitar, try Loan Me a Dime, it is a legendary jam. Enjoy! 🎸
Loved the baritone sax providing some of the bass line.
This album was IT when I was a kid. Solid as they come
A somewhat older Boz Scaggs will record one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard - 'Sierra'. Give it a listen!
Just discovered your channel, looks like I'm going to have fun going back through the catalogue.
If you want something slow and romantic from Boz, listen to “Love Look What You’ve Done To Me”
Also Harbor Lights
I'm a Metalhead and LOVE this song.
love you guys, your expressions made this song even better.
You guys have no idea how good the music was back then. How much fun we had.
It’s a long song, but I absolutely love the build up in “Loan me a dime”.
Boz Skaggs and Steve Miller were friends, with some of Skaggs' musicians playing with Miller from time to time. bass at the beginning just has you DIG IN!
Half of the band Toto (which didn't exist in 1976) played on this song.
My dad would love this. RIP POPS.
We named a friend, Lido. Always one more for the road! 😆
Lol wow you hit the nail on the head girl! Exactly! I played this one night on the juke box and the whole bar was singing! It was such a happy time. This song is always going to ignite a good time. The Lido Shuffle is an epic party tune.
Yes Honey your Mom and Dad know this song.

Yep. I grew up on this; was probably 8 or 9. I always loved Scaggs.
This whole album gotta lotta play at parties back in the mid-70s. Pure R&B joy! Yeah, don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!
Future members of the band "Toto" were session musicians on this song.
That Silk Degrees album is just hit after hit. A fantastic album guys. Great reaction. ✌️😀
the song is about one of the guys who worked for them who went one line over the road. such a great song
Silk Degrees was such an awesome album !
“What Can I Say” & “Georgia” are such underrated songs try them !
It’s so great that a younger generation is experiencing songs like that.
I remember as a kid hearing this song a lot on the AM radio in 1977/78
This was so big on the radio when I was 11, 12!!!! Love it !! 1976!!!!
Fun fact - couple of members of Boz's band went on to form Toto.
You guys are good!!! You let it play!! Nice commentary after the music.
ALL OF SIDE TWO of this album is CRAZY! "We're All Alone", "Love me Tomorrow"...........
Love listening to you guys listening to music from my time. Make me feel young again and you guys are so much fun. Still remember your reaction to marie laveau. So funny.
One of my favorite songs.
I used to hear this song being played on some Soft Rock FM stations in my area (Kansas City, MO).
This is one of my favorite songs!
How many of you responders would love to have a drink or two listening to music with T and his better half at the local pub? I'm down!
Boz Scaggs is so, so good! I encourage you to check out "The Dukes of September" It was a live act back in 2010. Great Album….Wonderful Music 😃
The chorus is so catchy. I remember hearing this song since I was a kid in the 70s.
Just heard this one this morning!
Omg yes!! Love this! ❤ reminds me so much of being a very little kid lol
Loved it! (that's all that needs to be said!) 😃
"It's Over" is another great Boz song that's sadly fallen off the radar. "Breakdown Dead Ahead" is also a great one.
The Philadelphia eagles fans used to sing this to Lido Shepherd when he made a good play. Imagine tens of thousands of people belting out that chorus!
Yea but they were Eagles fans... it couldn't have been that good......
Haha, couldn't resist.
This was huge on the radio in 1978!
There's a version of this and Lowdown live with the Dukes of September who consists of him, Michael McDonald, and Donald Fagen. They are great!
good to remember Boz Scaggs. severely underrated but much loved. somebody loan me a dime
I saw Boz around ten years ago. A great show.
T…you were really getting into this song!!!
Lido was a gambler looking for his big payday.
Jeff Porcaro from Toto was his drummer!
That's very special Song!!! You guys are so KooL!!!!
“JoJo” is my next favorite Boz Skaggs song after “Lido Shuffle.”
Good stuff. Harbor lights was my first favorite of his.
An older Boz Scaggs with the song Some Things Happen and Ain't nothing but The Blues.
Gosh Tosha...absolutely gorgeous! Boz is fantastic! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I’ve been in one of those bars while everyone was singing ❤
Boz and Steve Miller was in Mopy Grape 🍇 in San Francisco in the late 60 s
Another awesome song I grew up listening to!!!!
I really hope you are feeling better Hon!

Boz Scaggs is cooler than the other side of the pillow
After 40 years I just realized that Lido "missing the boat" was missing a full house in poker.
Yes! Next up-Breakdown Dead Ahead, another banger! Keep On Rockin'
Thanks alot folks I just want to introduce to four types of music from each different countries if you don't mind and hope I will not bother you with my request to react on them.

Love, Look What You've Done to Me. But also check out Valarie or Arc of the Diver by Steve Winwood - same time period and very similar tunes !
Hi Guys, Listen to JoJo. The song is about a drug dealer. Got a good beat.
To me, this song was about a guy on the run from the mob....always trying to stay a step ahead of the people that he owes money to....always trying to get the money back on one last bet, big job, or gamble.
You guys rock.
Guy who's in and out of prison doing the Lido Shuffle!
This is from my jr high sound track. We thought we had the world by the tail
"We're All Alone" and "Jojo"
Bos Scaggs ...... Heroin ... One last shot .... Bos had trouble with Heroin off and on ... Like many others ....
YEAH GUYS, THIS WAS THE OTHERRR BIG HIT FROM ( SILK DEGREES ) :)
I saw you listened to Joe Cocker. I would suggest his cover of The Box Tops hit "The Letter".
Listen to Look What You’ve Done To Me from the Urban Cowboy movie soundtrack
If you liked this you should give a listen to " The Climax Blues Band - Couldn't get it right."
If you want to hear the true essence of Boz Scaggs, listen to Lend Me A Dime.
