This driving drum shuffle pattern is probably my most favorite of all. The starts, the stops, the chops and all those powerful dynamic accents, always gets my blood pumping.
He wrote one of the most beautiful songs ever... “We’re All Alone”. Rita Coolidge did the most perfect cover of it. Stunning! Boz’s recording of it it amazing as well! 😎🎶❤️
Once again late to the party here but oh how I love watching you loving the music I've loved for decades! I've played this album so much that I wad anticipating the next track: "We're All Alone".. In fact as soon as I'm done typing, imma go listen to that .... If you haven't already, I highly recommend you just download the entire album. I think you'll especially love the track "Harbor Lights"-- very romantic/jazzy --- just beautiful!
One of the greatest shuffle tunes EVER!! The late great Jeff Porcaro R I P on drums. When I was driving a truck around the country I found the Boz Scaggs Greatest Hits CD, I played this song for 5 hours straight! Regarding drums and tuning, there are SOOO many factors that come into play that influence their sound....the recording engineer, the room, the drums themselves, the mics/micing, a good engineer will make ANY drums sound good. Great reaction!
One of the best "opening acts" I've ever seen. Saw the "Silk Degrees" tour back in the mid 70's. I couldn't even tell you what band or artist Boz even opened for. Maybe Santana, maybe Jefferson Starship, who knows. All I know is his back up band was pure fire. I heard 2 or 3 members of that band formed "Toto" the following year.
I was SO BLESSED to grow up listening to this man and his music. So crazy talented. That sound you hear in the bridge is 2 mini-moogs . I LOVE those! They were used by many different musicians for their very cool, INMO, sound. Great reaction video!
@@Jihavoh777 Three in all - Paich, Jeff Porcaro and David Hungate. Luke did record for Boz, though, and was part of his touring band. Breakdown Dead Ahead is a great Boz track featuring Luke.
Boz Scaggs with Drew Zingg live..."Breakdown Dead Ahead" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Boz!!!(Steve Miller Band(Duane A) (Dukes of September)...drew Zingg...Great NY AX_MAN....Toured with Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs
Saw Boz 3 times. Love his sound. Always high quality production! Lo Down, Diana Flo, Breakdown Ahead, and a tear jerker- Look what you've done to me. Thanks for the tune. Much appreciated.
well as a guy around in H.S. in the 1970s I.e. 1976 to 1980, dude we had the pom pom girls do a number dancing to this stuff... it was sexy, great, and made the whole school come alive. wish we could have filmed it. super great !
Love this song, I have the record from when I was a little girl. "JOJO" next please then "(LOVE) LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME"- From the soundtrack of Urban Cowboy. HUGE movie in 1980.
"Georgia" and "Miss Sun" are a couple of my favorite Boz Scaggs songs, although he has many terrific songs: What Can I Say, Look What You've Done To Me, We're All Alone, JoJo, Breakdown Dead Ahead, Harbor Lights...
Steve Miller Band (feat Boz Scaggs). Dime a Dance-Romance Overdrive Stepping Stone All 3 songs written by Boz with lead vocals by Boz too! Taken from The Steve Miller Band's first two albums before Boz went solo. Great tune's!
Memories. When I was a really little kid, my dad who didn’t speak English fell for that 8 albums for 1 cent deal. ImEnded up with this album on an 8-track. This was my favorite song on that album.
Silk Degrees is like a greatest hits album! He's still doing' it today. You should check out his recent albums like 'Memphis'. song: "Mixed Up, Shook Girl" which is a Willie DeVille song.
What a killer shuffle beat by Jeff Pocaro. Please check out the Steely Dan Song "Black Friday" Jeff plays a similar shuffle that will drive you to your drum set.
A rare live show from Steely Dan performing "Black Cow." And it is Excellent!!!! I thought you might want to see this Live since you like live shows.....It also means that this group maybe doing Live shows in the future.
@@akavienne I know.....and if course in the 70's Steely Dan wasn't doing concerts so I never seen them live....man, I was thoroughly enjoying myself with this video. All 6 minutes of it.
I believe you'd enjoy a return to and deeper dive into Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler! Their 1st album & the 'Brothers in Arms' album were great! 'Wild West End', my friend... (I was reminded when I saw another comment mentioning Bob Seger... which I'd love too.) Really... I wouldn't steer you wrong, man... And you know I'll keep hittin' you up for it! :)
I suggested in your last Boz reaction to check out his Greatest Hits Live concert and the songs from it because the quality and performances are superior and definitely as good if not better than the studio versions. If you do, "Miss Sun" should be next, live especially for his interaction with his backup singer. Trust me.
Jimmy Barnes, Working Class Man Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham, When something is wrong with my baby Cold Chisel, You got nothing I want, Choir Girl. You liked Jimmy with Joe Bonamassa recently
You can pretty much pick out any song from the Silk Degrees album and it will be good, but 2 in particular that I recommend are "Georgia" and "It's Over". A good song of his that isn't from Silk Degrees is "Jojo".
The legendary Jeff Pecaro on drums! Incredible pocket.
*Porcaro
Harbour Lights is sublime! Give it a listen. Boz is the man.
A standard in anyone's 70s album collection.
OMG I had forgotten this. We all had Silk Degrees. Wow. Memory Lane.
How about a return to Bob Seger? You loved him, if I recall, and he’s well worth a deeper dive.

Boz’s Silk Degrees album is great! I wore my vinyl of that album out!
This is my favorite Boz Scaggs. I love the syncopation.
BTW, the core studio musicians used in the recording of Silk Degrees ended up forming a band called Toto a couple of years later.
Another new sound from Boz . . . Sierra. Talk about a guitar solo. I honestly believe this is the most beautiful song I have ever heard.
This driving drum shuffle pattern is probably my most favorite of all. The starts, the stops, the chops and all those powerful dynamic accents, always gets my blood pumping.
I love the fill after the 2nd chorus stop. He plays a backwards fill. From lower toms to higher toms. So cool.
The late great Jeff Porcaro R I P
This is my favorite Boz Scaggs tune! First time I heard it with my father when I was 8 years old.
He wrote one of the most beautiful songs ever... “We’re All Alone”. Rita Coolidge did the most perfect cover of it. Stunning! Boz’s recording of it it amazing as well! 😎🎶❤️
I got to see Boz Scaggs about 5 years ago at The Jazz Festival in Ottawa. Still fantastic after all these years.

Thanks for this! Love Boz. Suggestion : "We're All Alone". From the same album, but a different tempo and pace. Showcases his voice more.

He and his band and backup singers are just as good live
Beautiful ballad? "We're All Alone". His distinct voice makes that song.
Miss Sun and Miss Riddle are great songs by Boz and worth a listen.
Same drummer on some tracks on 'thriller' plus a ton of other hit records....Jeff Porcaro...one of the best ever
He also performed with the Steve Miller band......"fly like an eagle" or "jet airliner".....

Great song!!! It was incredibly popular. The FM radio stations played it constantly.
Love, look what you've done to me by Boz
The Album Silk Degrees is Top Notch quality, some of the best musicians in the business worked on the album ❤️
I have long enjoyed the way the keyboard riff after the breakdown builds in layers, channel to channel, one keyboard voice per channel.
I'd forgotten how cool this song is - thanks for the reminder ! :)
Love Boz. He was boyhood friends with Steve Miller and was part of Steve’s band for a couple of his early albums . 🙂
Two other songs you need to listen to are "What Do You Want The Girl To Do" and "Fly Like A Bird".
Check out "What Can I Say?" (same album). Boz is incredibly talented.

One of the best songs from the 70s!
Check out tunes from his Memphis album covers of old tunes made in the old STAX studio .
I don’t know much about Boz but I always liked this hit. No doubt he will have others I like if I delve deeper… I know “lowdown” also.
Best of the three you have done, this one.
You should definitely do " what can I say " another upbeat popular track of his ❤️
