Awesome stuff, I love Victorinox knives. I used to have the mini champ on my keychain but swapped it out for the signature lite a while back. I need to grab an alox down the road, they are just nice looking. My next purchase will probably be the midnight manager I think. Decisions..... Decisions lol Thanks Tobias 👍
Tobias. Well howdy friend I has one on right saved my butt few times hell I forgot my usual pocket knife only had that tiny thing but it got job done and cleaned squirrel for pot excellent tools too great for my whittling spoons and forks from branches blades can get and hold razor sharp edge too important for carving 🦊🐾🇬🇧👍🔪⚔️
Sometimes I prefer cellidor, sometimes alox, just depends on which model the knife is. On the mini champ, I think I like the alox a little bit better. I also think it would be great if they would make an alox version of some of their 111mm knives, I would love to have an alox trekker. Thanks, Tobias!
Cute little guys!! I must admit, I usually consider those too small for my liking, but I use my classic quite a bit, especially when I am changing the battery on some of my watches.
Hi. The pharmacy scoop was probably originally used for scooping powder into paper like you’re cigarette papers. Around the 60’s and into the 70’s and way before. A pharmacy would sell aspirin and so on in paper sachets. If you can remember a brand like Bex used to have the sachets of aspirin, you would get like 10 in a box. You would just take one out and pour it into your mouth and wash it down. I witnessed this when I was a teenager where I worked. A lady I worked with would take a Bex like that every day at lunchtime. This was in Australia
My android has a setting called " Do Not Disturb ", and when it's on, you still receive calls & messages, they just don't prompt you with a ring, or vibration. It's like airplane mode, but still receives incoming calls. A prompt appears on the screen allowing you to answer, or hang up, but won't interrupt a video filming in progress.
You all prolly dont care but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
@Zakai Benson i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Very true Tobias, alox being so much thinner & lighter but I think stronger is a great choice. However I have saved time on numerous occasion when I needed a pen and I had my own and need not waited. I have the cellidor version and have carried it often. However I recently acquired a Signature Lite in Sliver Tech which is a Classic SD but has the pen and a nifty bright little light in it. Perfect for a keychain knife as you know and now with a light (but not tweezers nor toothpick).
The mini champ has no appeal for me at all, weird selection of blades, the smallest SAK I actually use is a Hunstman but mostly go for the Outrider. I have six or seven others including the smaller types but don't find them very useful. The Alox is definitely better looking though.
The Outrider is great ! That was my favourite knife to take on travels. Unfortunately many countries in Europe. like the UK, have laws which prohibit carrying around a knife with a lockable blade so I have to be careful now. If I can't take the Outrider, I take my old Mountaineer which I bought 40 years ago or my Climber (if just a short trip). For urban EDC when not on a trip, I take a Sportsman, Spartan or simply a Swiss Army 1.
I think that the MiniChamp is a little bit of a gimmick. Sure, it has a lot of tools, but how many are really useful? I have a Rambler on my keychain and my most frequently used tools on it are the nail file, scissors, and toothpick. The Midnight Manager would be a good choice but I also have a very tiny keychain flashlight that is much brighter. My flashlight and Rambler combined only weigh 1.54 oz, which I think is still less than the MiniChamp. The only thing that I don't have is a writing tool.
I'm on my 3rd Mini-Champ and they've all been celador. I really like the Alox model. I think i'll look into getting one. In the piece of paper i got in the box with the knife, they said that the pharmacy scoop thing, is a 'cuticle pusher', why anyone would do that is beyond me, I think they just made it up. PS. Opening the bottle opener/Philips driver helps when using the slide out pen, same thing when it comes to sharpening, the extra length gives better control, especially writing.✌
I read somewhere that the Classic is the most popular model among women. Maybe they thought the Mini Champ would be just as popular among that group when they designed it. However, I believe the Mini Champ ended up being more appealing to men. Perhaps Victorinox's marketing was a little flawed when they named this tool. It's no wonder they have other names for it as well.
Absolutely love my mini champ, and carry it daily, with jeans it easily sits in my watch pocket of “5th pocket” or in my scrubs when I’m working on my leg pocket, but still on me everyday. Might be one of my favorite edc items. And they definitely are not “to think” to carry, it disappears in any pocket.
The only "to think" about aspect of a small SAK is why on earth would you not carry one! The only reason I can come up with is because it is illegal to have it on you in a specific situation (going to court!)
I hear the ruler with the small prying end are still pharmacist's tools: to pop open vials, and to measure powder or liquid in a vial. In such a litigious world, Victorinox wised up and avoided naming its product and tools to imply usage abetting illicit use 😁
Hello. I think the alox looks better but how abrasive résistant is the anodisation. That said, i dont think either would suit me. Not the most useful collection of tools. All the best.
I carry the MiniChamp all the time. It is my favorite knife, the one I carry has both toothpick and tweezers. I carry the one with pen and light when I want to be a minimalist.
I think an updated video would be awesome, with the midnite minichamp. Which out of the 3 is my preferred mini champ. Would love to see a 3 way review on all 3 minichamps!!!!!
I got the Alox Mini Champ recently. If only they still kept making the red Alox ones because I don't want to keep getting silver Alox, haha. If I were to recommend a knife to someone who is new to knives and wants only something keychain sized, I would say they get the Mini Champ. Sure, the Classic SD is more portable, but the Mini Champ packs so much more in such a tiny frame in my opinion. More so if they get the cellidor ones. But I just like Alox so much more.
Mini Champ, especially in Alox is a good choice but I think the Rambler has the most practical blade options of the 58 mm line up. I'm definitely with you on the red alox over silver.
@@KnifeChatswithTobias Points well taken. Now that I think about it, the Rambler is a more practical choice for a starter. I confess that I spend more time try to think of ways to use the tools in the Mini Champ, but I like the challenger. The problem was that Ramblers are rare in my country and I do not want a Manager; I prefer bigger pens. If they can make an Alox Rambler, and in red, that will be a hit for me.
I really like alox scales, but I broke the key ring on my alox sd and lost it about 2 weeks ago. I cant decided to what to replace it with another alox sd, a signature or midnight manager.

On the issue of cellidor vs alox, although alox looks better and stronger, cellidor offers more tools that I wouldn't wanna give up, such as the pen + tweezers or pen + light, depending on the model. I've used that pen so many times that I've had to replace it at least twice.
If I had to pick a mini, I would go with the Mini Swiss Champ Midnight...that has the flashlight. I'm for the most tools as possible even if I have to sacrifice a little carry comfort. I do love how the Alox look though.
I have the classic lite in transparent blue. Very handy, especially the pen. I’m especially impressed by how great the scissors work, given their size... I can see why Victorinox fans rave about them. Can you recommend any smooth bone knives with scissors? (I know, not the typical scout pattern.)
I carry a similar knife on my key chain. As for bone handled knives with scissors -- Case makes a few small knives with scissors but most often the bone is jigged. The scissors don't work as well the ones on a Classic, either.
@@KnifeChatswithTobias Thanks, I’ll check out those Case knives. Since I began watching your videos, I’ve particularly fallen for the smooth bone (white, black and other colors) and nickel silver combo.

I was looking at mini champ in Alox but I think I'll pass now after this video. I have moved from a 58mm on the keys to using the 74mm executive and have been carrying it for perhaps the last 4 months.
