A friend had one that was four foot tall, with a stem thicker than yours. It had a few leaves at the very top. I convinced her to cut it up. She gave me two pieces of the stem. Her top part grew roots, and the pot shot up leaves. I laid the two pieces of stem on moss, in a humidity box. They have rooted and produced multiple leaves. I have potted them up together and I'm expecting a multi-stemed plant.
I was so excited when I was able to buy a little pink princess, about 4” tall, with its own cute little moss pole, from a local Facebook plant page, for $50. It was the most I had ever paid for a plant, but it has been such fun watching it grow. I have a few leaves with dabs or streaks of pink, and two trying to open, one looks a little pink and the other is looking very bright pink so far. I can hardly wait! My plant is very bushy so far, and like all my plants is in a totally north facing bright window. I do turn a grow light on for a couple of hours at night if I remember. Love your UA-cam’s! 💕🍃🇨🇦
Thank you! Just had a friend pick one up for me at a local’ish greenhouse, they were selling them for $35. No that wasn’t a typo THIRTY FIVE! AND THEY ARE BIG! I’m beyond excited, meeting up with her in the am to pick it up.
No way!! Lucky!
@@QueenKaleGardener when I saw them post on Instagram I absolutely could not believe it. I messaged a friend who lives closer to the greenhouse and she literally ran to pick a few up. I’m incredibly thankful that the greenhouse doesn’t believe in price gouging.
So jealous!
I just got TWO for $40 as well 😍 they have about 8-10 leaves each 😱😲
I honestly think the prices are going down they are not as expensive as they were.
I have several. I’ve noticed a lot of sellers will sell what they call “Reverted” burgundy princesses. I buy the reverted ones because it’s so simple to get the pink back with simply air wrapping noids and putting it In my grow tents light. However ~ I’ve noticed alot of sellers send these in pots filled with spag moss. I can’t help but think ~ they are only “Reverted” because the spag moss holds No nutrient values compared to soil, orchard bark, liquid fertilizer etc. once I put them in soil, perlite, and adequate lighting = they sprout bright pink in the air wrapped sections. Such a gorgeous plant and the one of my most favorite.❤️🥰 great video. Love your personality.
I have a pink princess, while the variegated leaves are beautiful, it is the most wonky growing plant I own. Never really fills out, just kinda grows.💚🙃
I just ordered Tickled Pink and Utah and have been SO overwhelmed with contradictory information on plant care! Thanks so much for this very timely video!
Try growing it with a moss poll. Mine is starting to go haywire
I don’t really like how it grows, I would chop it! Lol
Neel got mine today I’ll take that advice! She’s pretty 💕
Take some cuttings and put in the pot with it to make her fuller .. if you want
So happy that the prices in my area(Sweden) are going down! I got a 2" nursery pot for about 5 dollars at a local garden center and I'm so excited to be able to follow its growth! I've seen bigger ones, about 6" ones go for about 20 dollars in store. However, the Facebook marketplace prices are still about 70 dollars for one leaf propagations.
I got a free PPP node after winning an auction for another plant, it’s rooting in sphagnum and already pushing a leaf! Super stoked, and even more so cause I didn’t have to pay $50+ for a wet stick
How is your plant doing?
let us know how your plant is doing! I just got a wet stick for $10 hehehe
I bought a bunch of young PPPs which were on sale at Bunnings for $7 each a few months ago. I'm returning to this video because they've finally adapted to their new pots and environment and are slowly but steadily putting out new growth. Gotta remind myself of what they need so I don't get overconfident and stuff it up!
I have to agree with you regarding the lighting. I had mine pulled back about 6' from a SW facing window and all I got were solid green leaves. I decided to put it directly in front of that same window and the first leaf it pushes out since sitting there was half pink. I was lucky when I found mine. It was just before the hype and their popularity totally exploded, so I paid $7 for a 3' pot
Great plant! I have cut mine twice in the last year to propagate it and it made the plant more bushy. I have two vines now coming out of one plant and the last place I cut is starting to grow so it will soon be three vines. One of my favorites. Great video.
Thank you so much for this! I just got my princess today! I’m scared but excited!! They’re definitely pricey!
how’s it going so far? i really want one, but my most expensive plant that I’ve bought so far was $26 if that gives you any idea of how “big” my budget is. My sister has one and i’m planning on begging her for a cutting…so we’ll see how that goes :)
Mine comes in tmrw off eBay! I paid $85
I got 2 for $85 today!
This plant is still in my forever wish list. I just can’t allow myself to get this one because like you said it is too expensive. Ridiculous. Maybe some day.. Thank you for sharing this Nick.. 🌿💚
I've wanted one for years. I assumed the price would drop.
It hasn't.
@She_so_planty in sweden you can get away with 30-50
I recommend you check Facebook market I just got one for 45$ last year I was checking the price were like 500$ and up but never cheek Facebook market till 2 days ago and I finally got my dream plant, good luck
I thought I'll never buy this plant because it was so expensive, I didn't even have it in my wishlist. I got a tiny one yesterday for €5!!
Just got one today for 8.50 Euros in italy. It's variegated but not too strong. About 8-9 nodes. I've been seeing them depreciate for a few months. The bubble has burst, the pink princess is now an affordable plant
I just got two Pink Princessses for 8€ each, I'm beyond excited 🥳😍 Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for this. I recently picked one up with about four little leaves for £13 from a local plant market.
I have two of them and I find the variegation is very hit or miss. Some with no pink and other leaves come in almost all pink. I love 💕 this plant
Thanks Nick, this one is on my wish list, and one day when I find one I will bite the bullet and get her. I know a lot of people think it's over rated but it is still such a beautiful plant. Have a great day and I will see you soon, bye for now.
ah! thanks so much, just got mine last week and im doting on its new growth! hope more pink will come out soon!
So gorgeous.. "pink princess " love it
I just picked up my tiny baby! Im so excited to watch her grow
Another great tutorial from you, Nick🤩😆😁🤗
Got one today! Can’t wait for it to mature
Loove that plant! Have yet to find a decent one for myself locally
Just picked mine up today from you! Still excited regardless of the variegation 💗💗💗💗👑
I love your tutorial nick! I would lo love to see a tutorial on your piper crocatum/ ornatum. Im researching this plant right now but i would love to know your experiences with this particular plant. Thank you for the info on the punk princess. I just received a piece from a friend and its doing well. Thanks again
I just got mine FINALLY at a garden centre in Amsterdam for €19.99. So happy with it! Hope I do not kill it 🥲 thank you for this amazing video!
Just got my first PPP at a decent deal but it is just a little baby. It already has a lot of pink! So wish me luck! Love
Managed to snag my baby PPP for about £15 and I’m so happy you made this video cause I’m so scared to kill it after getting such a deal
Thank you! I got my first princess today!! It’s small two inch plant good price though! 54$ I’ve been looking for a few weeks before getting one. I have several other philodendrons and they’re easy to grow so I cross my fingers this one will be easy for me! I’ve been a lot better with plants now that I’ve had them for longer. I killed a lot my first year lol 😩
Yay this made me excited about my baby i bought this morning. They normally go for $160 -$200 in New Zealand and i got a really great size with lots of pink for $60
Ooo a much needed care guide
I absolutely love love it!
I have a pink Princess that is MASSIVE. 14 leaves 1 new one coming in also and the biggest leaf is larger than my hand. :) about 2 1/2 feet tall. The newest leaves have some really interesting variegation. I’m planning to get a grow light because my apartment doesn’t have much light now and I’m excited to see how it reacts to that :)
That's beautiful
I paid $11 AU for my PPP and its sooo pink. I really hit the jackpot.
can I ask where you got yours?? been searching for one for forever and that price is insane!!
@@BarryZeUnicorn I live in Western Australia and I got it from Mitre 10
Thanks for the video! I have a "reverted" leaf coming for propagation, however it still has a lot of pink to it. I'm hoping to see some pink coming out in new growth after its rooted. What would you recommend for rooting? Directly in water and then to moss, or directly to moss?
Thats pretty 😍
Mine looks like yours, but I see peoples post theirs with big leaves and full. I suppose they just have a bunch of plants in one pot. I think its ok, but waaaaay over hyped.
I just cut mine to pieces in the hopes of getting more variegation.. fingers crossed 🤞🏻😅
Did it work?
It did work!! Very pleased. I potted the cuttings in with the other plant and now have a bushier plant with more variegation 😍
Selena Verbena Thank you for your response!🙇🏽♀️ I’m so happy for you (mildly jealous also 😂) 💜
Victoria Flores 😂💖
i just got a small one a trade, thanks for this ¨̮
subscribed! Great content!
It‘s growing like crazy. In july I ordered an EL Choco but I‘ve got 2 PPP by mistake. I started to propagate them. 4 - 5 months later I have 7 Plants and sold one for the price of an El Choco. 😂
You’re a life saver. I have two that will be here literally tomorrow and they’re not only my first pink princesses but they’re my first philodendrons 😅 I’m rushing to get prepared lol
You'll do great! Don't over water.
@@jfuentes9188 thank you! I’ll try not to! Most of other plants are draught-tolerant so I’m almost a bit worried I’ll be most likely to underwater these but so far so good! There’s a new leaf on each ready to pop out any moment 😍
Is the care for this pink princess similar to how you would care for a white princess? I see so much content around the pink princess but not much around the white, would love for a care video on that!
haha, just discovered that I propagated this one at a venue 2 years ago (I just took it (stole it) after a concert)! It groes weirdly, leaf out of leaf, and I liked its red base, did not know that the leaves could become pink in best circumstances! hahaha Thnx for the information (haha secretly proud that I propagated an expensive girl )
If the mother plant had no pink, then you did not get a pink princess but a regular philodendron (I don't remember the name)
I feel like that princess is quite stubborn. Sometimes it makes you sad but then it pops out some variegation to cheer you up. As a result, it is playing with your mood
I have one a few months now, kind of regretting buying it! I’m underwhelmed so far..
Can you sell it to me 😂
Ur the twink princess ✨✨
Got one with 5 leaves in a 8cm nursery with 2 shots for 5 euros in germany
Hi there! Which SolTech light do you have specifically that's lighting your back wall and trellis? Love your videos, BTW!
I just got 2 starters for 80 bucks one for me and one going to my mom I'm so happy to see this video we're both so nervous any tips on starters?
That plant needs to be renamed "a hint of pink princess", it's nice, but somewhat overrated, just my thoughts.
Rey Give it more light. The variegation becomes distinct and so pronounced.
Hey Nick! Which humidifier do you prefer? Thanks!
Never been this early!
Ugh, it's so pretty! I feel like I'll never be able to get one though. They're so expensive 😫
It's possible that the price will plummet. Right now they are growen in tissue culture also mass produced. Someday there will be more then enough so they have to lower the price.
Very inexpensive in Aus at the moment so price will probably drop 😊
You should ask someone who will love to switch plants, one day I was at the farmers market and I started talking to a Vietnamese lady about plants and she ask me which plants I have and if we can switch plants and of course said yes and we share plants and now I have a friend 🌿
Nick, i would love to have advice from you about potos\philodendron\Epipremnum\Scindapsus. I want to put a lot of flower pot with vines on upper cabinet on kitchen. That place have low - medium light. There definitly will be tempurature and humidity changes because it's kitchen. I have now a big Scindapsus marble queen and thinking to propogate it and put it there. But maybe its better to use anoder vine such as philodendron brasil or something different. What do you think?
Thank you
I ordered one from Thailand I’m a bit nervous , beautiful plant 🌱🌸
Did u receive your plant in a healthy condition?
Saw one at an online nursery, 6 inch pot, for $100.00! Kept on looking. 😁
That’s an amazing price
It’s beautiful where can I get one?
i got one yesterday at the grocery store, for 12.99 very cheap only reason i got it,, i put it in my east window, they are i find like other phillys, treat it as such mine is tri color, creamy white, green and pink, i am fine with that, they had tons of them, most likely i will get another, if they stay this cheap haha
can you do a plant of the week on p gloriosum?
Mine hardly has any pink, but im hopeful 😁
Did it get pink?
Please give us an update! Lol
They are cheap and common in Australia! Ten bucks at the big garden shops.
.Last week I found a very damaged one at Bunnings Newcastle area Australia. . Original price $20 sale $8 in 7 inch pot. I cut it immediately at the node with 3 large damaged leaves on cutting and placed in water. The remaining plant has a large stem, over an inch diameter , with two babies growing from it. Looks like the big leaves where the pink was is mostly missing with only splotches of color left. I'm happily awaiting new growth.
The bunnings ones are TC. Not necessarily bad, but many find them not to have strong pink patterning and generally don't look similar to the insta pics of the PP.
Tanked With Aussie mine from Bunnings is doing great now I moved it in to a bright spot the variegation is much brighter :)
@@millyroseroberts the leaves are almost 30cm. Are yours?
Do I have a Pink Princess? Nope. Do I like it or want it? Nope. Still, watching? Yup.
The pink princess is really cheap where I am in Australia. I've 2 of them which cost me $16 (aus) each. I think that's about $10 US each so super cheap here and really easy to get.
Where did you find them? I buy most of my plants from Bunnings, I've never seen this one there :(
@@OpinionatedChicken59 The Bunnings near me have heaps of them for about $16. I'm near Hobart in Tas.
I got mine from Bunnings half pink was under $13 AUD but, not every Bunnings have half pink on it.
Wonder how she would do in a cannabis grow room
I've had mine like 9 months in the same window as everything else and it's the only thing that barely grew. Its only got like 4 leaves.
I have seen some PPP that are very full a bushy. Is that due to trimming to encourage "filling out"?
My husband JUST gifted me one. He bought one from a private seller. Im a novice and I don’t know where to start as far as re-potting. And tips ?
I can't find this anywhere!!! :'( I want it sooo bad :'(
Hey Nick can u give an update on this ppp❤
* Open question....
So are reverted PPP's permanently green, or do I just need to give it light and let it mature to see pink pop back up?
Since those are a lot more affordable.... I don't mind putting in the time.
Hi Nick! Excuse my question if it's silly, new plant mom here. What do you call that green thing that holds the PPP stem on the support stick? Not sure how to go about searching it lol.
Nez S in my local garden centre it is just called gardening tape or you can get something called plant ties. Hope it helps:)
i have one of my own but hardly any pink yet :(
I bought a reverted one not knowing it was a reverted one. So buyers beware if yours doesn’t look like Nicks. Every so often when it produces a new leaf it has a dab/splash of pink. Eh...it is what it is.
I have a Begonia that alternates between solid leaves with polka dot leaves...frustrated
I just got one i payed $35 for it do you think i over payed by the way i love yours
It’s a beautiful plant 💚 but for some reason, it’s not one that’s on my list. For now anyway. Lol
I tried to buy it if I can find the cheapest one
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊
In Australia I’ve been finding really amazing ones for $12, I’m curious how much they go for in the us?
I've seen on ebay easily over $200
Ive never been more envious omg
I've seen them listed on plant websites for upwards of $300 here in the US!
They’re in the hundreds!!
I paid $25 AU for a 10 inch pot.
Are they expensive in the US? I live in South Africa and I bought one today for R99 (that’s 6 USD). They seem to be a bit easier to find here.
I bought a cutting for $35 here in Canada.
You can't find one for under $100 in the US. It sucks.
♥ ♥ ♥
How much did you pay for yours?
Thank you, now I can finally see I don't like it! We never know how these cute little plants are going to grow, now I know it's not for me :)
Yes fair enough--- I do think it is overhyped (though I'm lucky enough to have one so I shouldn't be say this hehe) and definitely way too expensive for what it is.
Ola, you're definitely not the only one on that! I really dislike this plant! The pink can be pretty, but the whole plant grows lanky, the green looks muddy to me and there's just not enough leaves for the height of it as it grows!
Not one for me, but to each their own 😊
You know I’ve not seen it in person but it just doesn’t do anything for me either. I have a few philo’s but this one 🤷🏻♀️ I like the stems more. Which I have a dark one that’s similar just the leaves aren’t so far apart.
Bought mine for $23
I just bought a beautiful pink princess for 5 euro.
Do you sell Pink Princess? I'd like to buy from a reputable seller. I k ow the pink congo princess is fake, my wife almost bought one of those.
I want to be proposed to with a pink princess
2024, my 'princess ' is still the sorriest looking plant in my collection. A little pink here and there. But, the colour overall is no princess. Just a muddy colour yuckk😊
Light has nothing to do with the varigation.
i can give more attention if you want to pass it on lol
Please propagate that! Sitting on a small fortune right there.
I don’t think pink goes with green at all. Just not pretty..It’s really a hype that I can’t understand and prob don’t even want it even if it’s given to me for free.
"Pink and Green should never be seen"
This is one of the most overrated, pricy plants EVER! On a personal note, hope you are staying healthy and happy during these crazy times.
Depends where you live. Cheap as chips in Australia
I love you but that plant is ugly.
