im so happy they've gotten more cheaper due to rise of demand, i got mine from Walmart and it already had 3 other buds growing and had the most variegation from the rest. i got the half pink leaf but hoping for a full pink soon. and I only got it for 25!

Colombia, with two o's. It's a very common mistake but I thought I'd mention it as I was very happy to see you going into details on the plant's origins.

from my experience of owning a plant for more than a year, the cuttings can vary with variegation as it caries the variegation of the leaves within the cuttings. if you're cutting has little variegation you'd need to grow the plant out until a more variegated leaf shows up and i'd recommend cutting the plant 2 or 3 leaves after the highly variegated leaf has showed up. I've had a couple of cuttings as experiments and from what I've seen that's the most effective route to getting a more variegated plant, although not guaranteed to be highly variegated if there's small leaves but from the small leaves themselves there should already be pink spots or white spots and should get more intense as it grows.

They’ve got pink princess at Walmart this month. Probably not the highest quality variegation but the ones I saw still had a decent amount of pink on them. I think they were like $20 or so.

@@FelineJungle I actually had no idea they were considered that valuable as I don’t really follow houseplant trends but I work for one of the greenhouse companies contracted out by Walmart so I did get a couple pups for free ;) I was surprised to find that people paid so much for them when I went looking for care tips

Variegated plants tend to need more light - especially the philo pink and orange. Get a grow light or bright, indirect light.
And plants also appreciate night time dark.

the pink variegation isn't stable, if it starts growing solid green leaves, pay attention to variegation in the stem. Cut back above the node of the last leaf with pink in it. Its no guarantee the new growth will have more pink but its a chance if the new growth grows from the part of the stem that has variegation.

It was due to low supply and high demand. Before the hype, PP cost around $16 for a plant in a 6 inch pot. Most aroids grow like weeds in the greenhouse so its finally dropped in price after the gate-keepers lost to high supply. Now, you can find started plants everywhere for under $10 thanks to tissue culture. Gate keepers lost, consumers finally won.

This plant was $40+ at my favorite local plant shop and just a few months later I went and they had even more beautiful variegation and more of them for $20 had to grab, three days later a bright mostly pink leaf just unfurled 😭🥲🥹😍🥰

I had a small PPP but it was just a baby, so it was kinda brown-ish. I didn’t have the time or experience to chop it up and wait to see what would happen. Def worth getting a more mature specimen and spending more money I think! I will still wait on it, even though a pink plant is so cute and beautiful 😊. Thanks for the tips!

Can cold Temps bring out them colors? In cannabis it's a way we pull colors out of certain cultivars. Some will do it naturally but alot need cold Temps for colors to show. Or is it all genetics with them?

    Very helpful video.
I got my first (and only)pink princess half a year ago, as a small cutting with rotten roots. Fortunately she produced new roots in water and high humindity. After that I put her into airy soil, she grew two ney leafs and many roots, but now stopped growing. Maybe because of the dropping temperatures? (night 17°C - day 19°C in my kitchen). Can you tell a bit about the minimum temperatures for them?

I bought mine at my local grocery store a few days ago, for $12, medium size (large leaves) and it came with a nice ceramic pot. I'm so glad I waited to buy one. The variegation is pink, white and green. The stems are pink. So beautiful. In my opinion, better looking than the mostly green and pink that I have seen before.

    • @joyceschetter5871

I also bought mine at the grocery store. It’s had two leafs that were very slow to unfurl so I kept misting (and breathing and talking to it) It was noticeably a help to unfurling although my breathing and “encouraging remarks” were of questionable assistance. It’s a beautiful variegated plant and came with attractive ceramic pot. All for $20. I felt very special and lucky to have found this gem of a plant.
