It's still a manual gearbox! You can still engine break, and you can still choose the gear. In addition it's got an automatic mode, and it's programmable. I'm looking forward to driving it! Harlan Charles, what a great attitude. I can't imagine any other of the super car producers management being so humble and acknowledging of various views and perspectives, and still very candid and up front. Great stuff!
Awesome interview. I have driven manual my whole life but I'll gladly take the trade off for that 0 to 60. It's insane that they are able to achieve that at that price point given the weight and power specs. So stoked to see reviews come out
I Love "shifting for myself" like everyone else... But the REAL factor is mentally being in control of the vehicle. So shifting with a paddle is NOT the same as 'stirring a shifter', but YOU can still tell the car WHEN to shift, if you want to. I have to also consider that I have now had 9 major leg surgeries -- including a 'new' left knee -- that makes driving a clutch a lot more difficult, if not impossible... and PAINFUL. And THAT kind of takes the FUN out of manual shifting. "Heel & Toe" becomes a Strain that is actually a bit distracting, and less precise than in past years. And the DCT shifts without Busting U-Joints...
We would agree, which is why having a choice of two transmissions would be the best of both worlds allowing owners to choose the transmission that is right for him or her.
Sons of Speed DCT IS a manual transmission. You’re still telling it when to shift and it won’t shift until you tell it to when in manual mode. Only a manual clutch is missing.
studio7 thank you! Yes, Harlan said Cosworth will be putting together a set of “standard” track maps that can be preloaded on your SD card for you to choose from at the track. No more having to mark the start/finish line and completing a lap to mark the track!
Motor Trend now has a Base C8 that they are testing NOW! But, of course, they can't release any actual data until their agreed date. But the have Video on Instagram...
Yeah until the editing is approved by MT's biggest advertiser budget....the magazines have become a bit incestuous with their relationships with the car companies...not like the old days when the mags at least attempted to have some editorial standards.
Thanks Brendan for a great video. Liked it so much that it is now featured at: www.MidEngineCorvetteForum.com. Also there are 1,800 C8 threads, 750 C8 pictures and about 100 videos. Thanks much. Subscribed to your channel.
It's simple, like manual? Keep or get a c7. Unbelievable why so many people are bitching about it. Corvette is evolving and i suggest you evolve along with it
Excellent one on one with Harlan. Way to go.
Thank you!
I have determined that the c3 chrome bumpers are truly the best looking Corvettes ever produced by Chevy. Hands down.
'70 Stingray for the win!
@@zipzap4706 I agree.. absolutely gorgeous.
Very well done interview on the C8! Thank you for sharing it with all of us👍🏻🇺🇸
Jim Haley thank you, we’re glad you enjoyed it!
Your videos are extremely interesting and are of amazing quality. Your channel really deserves more recognition
Thanks, Jank, we think so, too LOL. Feel free to share us away, and thanks again for the support!
This is a really good interview.
Thanks, Tony, we appreciate the feedback!
Very nice video...lots of data, thanx for the upload (a current C7 Z06 owner and a guy who is waiting to see the Spider and Z06).
Steve Fowler thank you, we’re glad you enjoyed it! Lots more Corvette material coming soon!

4:38 is that moment when you remember you are talking to the guy that made the car.
Uninterrupted power during shifts is the single biggest performance advantage the C8 will have over a traditional manual transmission car.
i am so happy that we can do basic maintenance in our own driveways with the C8. keeping an open mind about that transmission too i suppose hehe.
@10:30, I like it that the designer cared enough about the DIYers and put a lot of thought for the easy access of their basic maintenance service.
Good, interesting & informative vlog. Thanks. 👍
Cool interview - Really good topics. Especially liked the high wing talk and the install.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!

great video! Any talk of a stock supercharger/turbo in the future? ;)
Excellent interview
Great interview enjoyed it. I just subscribe
Thanks, Tom! Glad to have you aboard, and lots more C8 content coming soon!
If you think DCT is boring you aren't driving it hard enough.
We'll be putting your theory to the test as soon as possible!
@@SonsofSpeed I hope to see my C8 early next year as well. Best of luck and nice interview!
Really enjoyed this vlog..very informative..Did Harlan Charles say they are in collaboration with Cosworth for lap times and track stuff?

@@SonsofSpeed Thanks for the reply. Regards from England.

Manual is dead. It's just not as efficient as modern dct s now. It's a new era we are living in.

Get to the 0 to 100 and 1/4mi man. Enough with the under 3 seconds to 60.. big deal. Tesla has been doing it in sedans for a decade.
Great video! Check out my recent c8 content.
